Simply the best place at the train station. great pizza, great drinks and a very nice location.

The pizza was tasteful. Good ingredients, medium-thick dough and finely balanced. Unfortunately the waiters weren't very attentive. The price is in the high segment.

Because it was my last destination, I went in very tired. The atmosphere of the store itself was pretty and the pizza was delicious! And since most people only order cocktails, the drink menu seems to be good too! 🙂

Service was a bit clumsy. Great atmosphere, go there more often now. It's a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the SBB, which I think is very good.

The slightly chubby Kelner with those dark hair is very vulgar! He doesn't enjoy work & has me offended I was very surprised & deeply shocked! The German great Kelner was very friendly & the pizzas are quite ok but very dry, hence the grade 2/5 for the Lora Basel!

It’s a great restaurant for an aperitif or to eat with the family. This restaurant has a lot of atmosphere and has a lot of decoration.

We were unknowingly in the take-away section and ordered a "large pizza", which cost 40.00, but was a maximum of 30cm tall. When we asked for napkins we were told that we weren't in the restaurant but only in the take away and therefore there were no napkins - when we insisted we were given at least a little kitchen paper. We were again made aware that we were not in the restaurant but only in the take away. It has to be said that the entrance to the restaurant was closed and when we asked how we could get into the restaurant, we were told that we had to leave the restaurant and go into the restaurant through another entrance. And that was the end of the conversation. The pizza was okay but you could have easily gone to other locations, which are, firstly, much better (subjectively) and secondly, they charge 20-25 francs for a 30cm pizza and not 40.00 for a "large" pizza, which unfortunately is max. standard had size.

A very cozy and friendly place in Basel SBB train station. Attentive and helpful staff and some very intricate varieties of pizza toppings. Even so, I did not dine in, the atmosphere invited me to stay, which I will definitely do next time. I had the Pizza Fantasia (Südtirol) and it was a delicious trip down South. Goat cheese, apricot, nuts, honey and mozarella cheese as travel companions suited me well. And I cannot wait to try others like Mamma Lora or Pizza Nonno with Cime de rapa. Prices range from CHF 20 to 30, which is not really cheap, but hej, you are in Switzerland... The special boat-like form reminded me of the Georgian Khachapuri. In that special case, I would not be afraid if someone from Montana would take me to the train station...

Great atmosphere, cozy and with the old high ceiling. Friendly service, good drinks. The pizza was good, fresh with sugo and well topped. The dough isn't quite as good as in the Vito, so a small deduction but overall a high standard and highly recommended

Dropped by for an apèro with a friend since it is very neatly located within the trainstation and she had to catch a train later. Had two pizze and something to drink. Pizze were fantatic and the service team tonight was better still. Thanks a lot!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday with a larger group at Lora. The service was very attentive and courteous and played its part in making this a successful evening. The pizzas were also thoroughly praised by all guests in our group. I would like to highly recommend Lora for organizing this type of event.

We ordered Pizza via Uber eats. One of them was Pizza Quatro Formaggi (which states comes with Tomatosauce) but we were delivered Pizza though with cheeze but no sauce. As a dedicated Pizza place, it should be more than ebarrasing to fail to add an essential ingredient like Tomato Sauce?????. Hence we were delivered dry cheesy bread instead.

A great bar and friendly staff. Unfortunately, it's often a bit full or it's not possible to easily occupy a table for a beer, but that's not a big deal. What is extremely troublesome, however, are the unannounced closures. This year we wanted to go to LORA at least three times and it said "closed due to private event" in front of the entrance. No information on the homepage or on Google, just an Instagram story an hour before. You can't expect everyone to see this or that everyone has Insta. At least this should be published on time on the homepage.

Well-kept ambience with good music in the background. Nice decoration in the room. The whole room was a bit chilly, which was not so pleasant. The service was friendly and quick, and asked if everything was OK. The pizzas and the aperitif platter were tasty, but nothing amazing for the price. Therefore, the prices are a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Modern and beautifully furnished. High room, unfortunately a bit loud. Restaurant for pizza and drinks. It's a little hidden at the back of the train station. Small menu with starters, cold dishes, pizza and dessert. The pizzas are oval and have rather untraditional toppings, but very tasty. Unfortunately there is no offer for non-alcoholic cocktails.

Not a restaurant review, just information about the location. The bar is located in the former 1st & 2nd. Class waiting room, the restaurant in the 3rd class waiting room, which again shows the age of the station. These remained intact except for the outside writing on the customs page.

We had a meeting with our nephew and it was more than OK... 👍

The Lora in Basel SBB train station A small, cute coffee that makes you feel very comfortable as a customer. The waiter was very friendly and the coffee I had was of good quality. I found the entrance a bit exaggerated, almost as if you were entering the Federal Palace, but it was a very nice and informal atmosphere. The prices are on the higher side, but the friendly staff makes up for it. Thank you very much and keep it up 😀

I think it's great here, really professionals when it comes to cocktails. You can also eat here if you want. Ideal when you're waiting for the train or the next one...😉 I've had various cocktails that I haven't gotten anywhere else.

Had a work event here, was great. Good food, started with antipasto platter then some pizzas, really tasty. Excellent service; especially from Scarlett; she's a keeper and deserves a pay rise. I expect Lora has the longest bar of any bar in Basel and is definitely a winner for the highest ceiling award, majestic! Good espresso martini too! We'll be back :)

Everything was great, high ceilings, nice furnishings and comfortable chairs. Prices are a bit more expensive, but it's justifiable because the whole frame fits. Very good and attentive service. Everything's great, keep it up! ^_^ I'd love to come back!

A restaurant in the SBB train station, it is relatively loud because the room is very large and high. The service is ok but not particularly motivated. The menu is very small and manageable. My meal (Pizza Smokey Nono) wasn't really good. The dough was way too sloppy and moist for me.

There are aperitif platters and snacks for the meal, and the main course is just pizza (below average). Ambience casual but quite loud.

In principle, the restaurant is really stylish and the staff is friendly. What is really surprising and disappointing is the fact that the LORA has no longer been open in the morning and lunchtime since February 2023, but only from 4:00 p.m. As a result, there is currently not a single café left in the renovated west wing of the station, which doesn't exactly add to the liveliness during the day. This was definitely not what SBB had in mind when it opened the LORA!

The restaurant was full. Since it is in a train station hall with very high ceilings, it was extremely loud; at times you literally had to shout at each other to understand a word. The first waiter was unprofessional, it was fine, the other one later continued to serve us, but both of them didn't seem very motivated. The pizza was ok so far. There are only salads as starters, desserts are not available in this restaurant. Disappointing. I imagine something different when it comes to a cozy dinner.

If you need to place advertisements in mobile phone games for children that you can't even click away from, I really can't help you anymore. I don't know what the advertising does for someone who doesn't come from Basel. Kind of pathetic, to be honest.

We were able to enjoy the brilliant pizza menu and the cocktail accompaniment at Dine and Dance with friends on February 4th, 2023. Absolutely brilliant and recommended! 5 sensational cocktails and delicious, unusual pizzas. Registration by email and payment in advance. This makes the evening uncomplicated. Even water, coffee etc. was included. Absolutely, we'll be back! Sound a bit too loud late at night - but that was to be expected and a good time to leave full and happy.

I’ve been here now twice in a week. This is the kind of bar I have been waiting for in Basel. The cocktail menu is avant garde and fascinating with some amazing and original takes on classics. Staff are passionate about quality and service is attentive without being overbearing. I’ll be going back next week too…

I visited the Lora restaurant in Basel and unfortunately I have to say that I am disappointed. The pizza I ordered was very dry and didn't taste good at all - 0 flavor even though it was freshly made. The price was also very high for the small piece. I was particularly disappointed since I heard that the pizzas were usually a specialty. The staff (young blonde lady) was also very unfriendly and had no joy on their faces. Looked at me like I wanted to rob the store, which didn't make the visit pleasant. A change of perspective would certainly be better to improve the ambience in the restaurant. Also the tables were very inconvenient, especially for someone who wants to work. They were very small and cramped, making it difficult to take notes or sit comfortably. Overall, my visit to Lora Restaurant was disappointing and I would not recommend it. There are many other restaurants in Basel that offer better pizza and better service. I hope that Lora Restaurant will solve its problems in the future to provide its guests with a better visit.

Very fine food and cozy atmosphere. Totally underrated and the bar/restaurant behind the entrance is a nice secret spot. The bartender was very attentive and an expert in his field. The food was super tasty. The dough was excellent, the focaccia and the Lora salad were highly recommended.

So, I bummed into this place as it wasn’t busy with people and I thought I could grab and go… So, I got to the counter order my Green Tea and I’m surprised and that got half the cup size of water. So, I asked the lady why is the cup half size and not the normal… com‘on its CHF5 for a tea! Her answer was puzzling to me as she said, ”This is small not much water good and the big one will have much water“… well I like my tea with lots of water and please can I get the normal cup… Lucky without a fuss she gave me the normal size cup 🤔 but this is strange why would some order tea in a small cup? That’s for double espresso maybe make sense… Well, not the best experience so I didn’t order any sandwiches but grabbed a pischatio croissant but it only tasted so so unlike what you get in Italy. The filling was pistachio jam 🫣 not my favourite But the ambiance is cosy and with ample sitting outside.

The pizza is absolutely recommended. I was expecting decent pizza and got very good pizza. The salads were also excellent. They obviously concentrate on a few things and do them right!

This bar you would love to visit for a beer or a drink before jumping on a train. The bartender staff are funny and helpful. And happy to advise how many drinks you can take before your train departs.

We were guests on a Friday evening LORA. Unfortunately, the service employee made a very insecure and awkward impression. After we were seated at an unreserved table despite having a reservation, we had to explain to her that the contents in the wine glass were not 3dl but 1dl. Communication was relatively difficult and the bartender didn't seem to be in a particularly good mood either. We still ordered the large pizza with three different toppings and it was really fantastic. We hope that things will improve in terms of service - we would love to come back.

A very nice bar in a beautiful train station - but this credit goes to the SBB, which was responsible for the restoration of the train station. Unfortunately, the Bar Lora itself hardly makes any difference to this great place. A small drinks menu with strange cocktails. You won't find the classic favorites among the cocktails. The same applies to the food. The prices of the drinks are so high that you'll feel thirsty as soon as you order. The service tends to be neither professional nor friendly. The highlight is the drinks menu, which is only available in English. We are here in Basel. Is that supposed to be cool? Combined with the signature cocktails, it's really difficult for people who don't have English as a native language to find a suitable drink. Two stars for the attractive furnishings in the beautiful Basel SBB train station.

Nice location in the train station, unfortunately the processes are not optimal and the waiting times are long. The foccachias are good, but also expensive.

Cappucino, espresso and foccacia in the take away were really, really good. The fifth star only comes when the service is better organized. The waiting times at the take away are too long.

Excellent place to know... during night travel do not hesitate to spend couple of hour there while waiting your next connexion.

Centrally located, directly at the SBB train station. Super tasty pizza, great ambience and the service from Levin was also very friendly and accommodating! Overall, definitely worth a visit!

Everything ok, but the cost is high

Visited this bar on a wonderful Saturday evening. We were invited there for a birthday. The atmosphere and style of the bar and the entire space immediately impressed us and we were very positively surprised. I hadn't known this bar before and so we were very happy to have such a great bar in Basel. But then unfortunately the good atmosphere soon came to an end. The bartender must have had a very bad evening. With his bad mood he obviously targeted various guests. His behavior was unfriendly, arrogant and he seemed listless pretty much the whole evening. As I said, friends of ours had rented this bar exclusively... so you can also expect the bartender to serve you a drink on request. But he didn't like that at all and was simply ignored and no longer paid attention to. He also insulted people and he even beat up a nice young lady because she couldn't find her way to the toilet. As we found out later, this bartender has won several awards and is certainly up to something... he actually looked like a pretty cool guy - but the way he treated people that evening leaves you speechless. Hence my two stars... Top location, bartender flop, at least in terms of behavior and that's what matters more to me. I will not visit this bar again. And I think there were about 30 people who felt the same way that evening. So you can see how crucial a friendly demeanor can be.

The Pizza and spritz was good, neapolitan style pizza was really good in fairness. However we were left waiting too long to order even though there was plenty of staff to handle a half empty bar. Worst of all the bar man was extremely rude when we tried to order. This type of person should not be working in a people industry. I absolutely would not go back

Just stopped by and had a coffee. 10francs for an espresso and small americano from a machine and they were absolutely awful. Won’t be back. Service was good.
