Martel in Vernier

It is more of a tea room than a chocolate store. The assortment offered is tiny, apart from the fact that it is possible to eat cafeteria, tea, etc. and to sit down. I came from Lausanne on purpose to realize that there was almost nothing in terms of chocolate. Disappointed. 😿

It's been a while since I sat here, but I think I forgot why. It seems that the team suffers from turnover because they never really have the same faces. On the other hand, this week, I recognized the person present. What can I say except that the best people seem to leave due to exhaustion or they are fired as I was able to observe with a young waitress 1 or 2 years ago. In short, although yesterday the waitress was alone when I arrived, I did not understand why I had to wait so long to finally have no one take my order. Let her take care of others, sure, but that clearing 1 table, sweeping, cleaning the counter and taking the order of another table and customers at the counter have priority (all arrived well after me) and never deign to come to take my order, it doesn't smell good. Finally, after 15 minutes, why stay? I finally took my order elsewhere and I must not forget that the welcome in Martel cafes always depends on whether the staff is ill-tempered or not.

October 18, 2023, Tea-room Martel in Balexert, an express and a cannelé to please me. Good coffee but burned fluted! Unfortunately, even at Martel, we entrust the work to people who are not in the profession... ABE.

This Saturday was my lucky day. A lovely young man called Christophe served me straight after the previous customer and informed me in great detail about the components of two pastries which were delicious. I was thrilled, because that’s not always the case. Well done.

Always FAST and WELL served. The waiters are friendly. Excellent coffees, sandwiches and pastries (although a little more expensive than elsewhere). Recommended break at Martel, after shopping.

The service is really bad!! The waiting time to be served is really very long, if you haven't already left!! (what is incomprehensible is that there is a waiting time from start to finish!! Long when taking the order and long afterwards!!) Which I can understand when there are people but there !?

The first team that opened was great and suddenly there was a change of team but then it was a disaster, starting with the manager who always has a head room when she serves the customers and the rest of the team we don't talk about it... me who works in the center and I went there every morning, it's over. Time that this team and the manager will be the most ever. On the other hand, there are never many pastries and savory foods. But time...

The bar is nice but at 6:30 p.m. they tell you that it closes in 15 minutes and at 6:45 p.m. they start sweeping the floor! Too bad... we can't enjoy

I come there every day, the drinks and pastries are very good. The team is welcoming and available as needed. You have to be accommodating depending on what time you go there because they are often victims of their success. In addition there is access for the disabled.

The waitresses make fun of the customers and it's super expensive for what it is apart from the chocolates which are not too expensive

I just had a ridiculous "croissant au chocolat"...small cold dry..and it was 9:30 am on Saturday morning. Cappuccino was also poorly done..boiling hot (it shouldn't be like that) and no taste of coffee. This place is a disgrace for the name of Martel in Geneva.

Until last Friday, nice place with competent waitress and the 2 waitresses fired as well as the manager. Currently service is not fast and deplorable. You have lost loyal customers.

A disaster. If I could give 0 stars I would. There was little movement, and yet the waitresses couldn't keep up. I had arrived and, for 20 minutes, I tried 3 times to wave to the waitress who simply ignored me and, even after seeing me, did not come towards me. Finally, I, who had joined my parents, took nothing so as not to waste any more time in this catastrophic place. To avoid urgently, we will not go there again.

Monday morning, I sit down with my mother and wait for us to come take our order. No one comes, I go to reception and order a mint tea and coffee. We wait a good quarter of an hour and I get up to find out where the order is because I have to go back to work. The waitress answers me curtly each in turn. There are no customers this Monday morning, I don't understand the wait. The mint tea has no taste and the leaves seem very old and the coffee is really bad. All this for 8.5 francs! Deplorable reception, poor consumption. I don't recommend this place and will go elsewhere next time.

I love your canapes but for more than a year that I have been coming regularly there is no renewal, always the same and nothing with salami or ham while we find sandwiches with both.. A special reason?

The disappearance of the old team is a catastrophe. Martel's management should be ashamed. When you have friendly and qualified staff, you have to keep them.

Being a regular customer, I am disappointed by this place that I appreciated. Despite good products, that's not everything. Tuesday, November 29, where did the smiling and dynamic team go? I would henceforth favor competition. Every time the service becomes decent, the team disappears. Sincerely

I recommend this place! All the staff are always smiling and in a good mood! and not to mention the truly top-notch service! the pastries or savory ones are just too good!

Few people but long wait 1 spilled to taste like water, no foam on the milk and served lukewarm... the cup bathed in the coffee on the saucer... the waitress had to see me wiping the cup on the edge of the saucer to intervene... Wrinkled ticket… looks like it’s been used twice…. I asked the question of how the reverse is done... 1 dose of coffee 1 dose of milk... I expressed my opinion but obviously that didn't appeal to anyone.... Martel really isn’t what it used to be… No problem there are plenty of other places in Balexert where the serve and the reverse is really a reverse

Less and less chocolate in their homemade chocolate at 5.60 CHF! And no more little chocolate on the side... Disappointed and yet I was a good customer...
