Masal Dosa in Zürich

We go there to satisfy our cravings for south Indian food. I would say the food is great but enough to satiate your craving for idli n dosa. The taste of sambar and masala always keeps changing. Sometimes there's no salt in d curries. The old uncle is the best, most courteous of all the staff.

Absolutely stellar South Indian Tamil cuisine in Zurich! The flavors are authentic and the service is top-notch. A must-visit spot for anyone craving delicious South Indian food. Plus, the staff's friendly demeanor only adds to the fantastic dining experience. Highly recommend giving it a try!

Really great and authentic south Indian food. Flavorful with the right amount of spice. The service could be a bit more organized but was always very friendly. Definitely worth visiting but make a reservation before you go.

An authentic South Indian restaurant in Zurich. It’s been few months since I came to Switzerland and have a tried quite a few Indian restaurants. This restaurant literally made me feel as if I was back in chennai !!!! Tried the ghee masala dosa and podi dosa along with filter coffee !!!! Wish they had more options for the South Indian sweets, hopefully they add more in future. -With all my love for Dosa , Varun

I love the taste, usually everywhere here we get blanned food. But in masal dosa , we get awesome proper spicy south indian food.

Well, I’m a big fan of idli and not easy to fine restaurants serving idly. So was happy to know we have one in Oerlikon. Well, I could eat 6/7 idly of normal size but when I ordered sambar idly it was mini idly which almost disappeared in the sambar. Oh but the sambar was lovely! But the idly was just not enough! 😅 See the picture and good luck in finding those idly 🤣 Btw tap water CHF3 and the good thing is they put that on the menu so you’ll not get surprised 😅 Dosa was good! But just as the other reviewers mentioned, the chutneys were a little too watery 🤷🏽‍♀️ Anyway overall good taste but idly was very tiny 😅

Pretty Average. We came from Basel to try this after hearing good review but we were disappointed. Mutton curry was not good. It was Salty and meat was tasting bad. Dosa was ok but chutneys was just a like water. Parota with veg curry- veg curry was watery there was nothing special. I don’t think I will come back😃

The Masal Dosa, Veg Kottu Roti, Chicken Kottu Roti, Cauliflower 65 and Gazar Halwa are delightful, but the real stars are the Podi Dosa and Pepper Chicken Dry. Despite our last-minute visit on New Year's Eve, they graciously accommodated us, showcasing their flexibility. While reservations are preferred, they warmly welcomed us, making the dining experience memorable.

Taste is good, but quantity of starter’s are very low…

Nice location and friendly staff. Order didn't come together so my friend hat to wait a bit until my order also came. It would be great if the food would be served at the same time. But else it was tasty and can recommend the place.

Authentic South Indian specialties especially our traditional variety of Dosas and Idly Vada. Great good for economical price.

Authentic South Indian dishes are served here. The service is also amazing. The staff are very nice and cordial. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant. I go there with my family most of the time I am in Zürich. So far, our favorite has been their Masala Dosa. The side dishes are also mouthwatering.

Food is decent (not exceptional) and reasonably priced. Dosa is great but no efforts are made to provide good accompaniments. Sambar, coconut chutney, tomato chutney, etc., everything tastes below average. Service below average. If you can ignore the extremely unprofessional service and lack of hospitality, you might enjoy the ambience. The people running the restaurant seem to be doing favour to their guests by offering them food. A little training to the receptionist, waiters and cashiers could surely go a long way to improve the experience of the guests.

Authentic South Indian Food. It was super delicious. We were in Switzerland for tourism purpose and was craving for some South Indian food, this place really satisfied my taste buds.

We had masala dosa, uttapam, chocolate dosa, and pizza dosa. All were freshly prepared and delicious. I recommend this place.

Our dinner at Masala Dosa restaurant was a true delight, with incredibly tasty food that satisfied our taste buds. What made the evening even more memorable was the unexpected visit from Swiss National MP Liste Nr. 7 Herr Nik Gugger, who dropped by after his October 22. 2023 election campaign. Spending time with him was a wonderful experience, and we were pleasantly surprised by his simplicity. Not only was Herr Nik Gugger's visit a highlight, but the restaurant's service team also deserves applause for their excellent service. They took great care of us and ensured everyone's needs were met. Moreover, the restaurant's authentic Chettinadu cuisine left us craving for more. We're truly grateful for such a fantastic dining experience at Masala Dosa restaurant, where great food, exceptional service, and the presence of Herr Nik Gugger made it an unforgettable evening.

Best place for south indian dish lovers. Taste is too good and authentic, sufficient quantity. Have to wait abit (overall 20min waiting) for ordering and then getting food on table. Simple nice ambience with food served on plastic banana leaf to give you that south indian feeling.

Found this place while traveling in train to Zurich so decided to have lunch there. The area where it is , is not that appealing but the food the service and atmosphere was great. It is a small family run business with authentic South Indian cuisine. As we went just on a whim we did not have reservation. Still they accommodated us and we soon found out by first fifteen minutes why reservation was recommended. They were filled completely by lunch time and not just by Indian population but by Swiss population. So just think how amazing their food would be.

Sorry to be brutally honest. We were 5 Indians visited and ordered from masala dosa to parotta with chicken chettinad etc. Food was no where near Indian . It was zero flavour bland . Innocent Europeans who don't know about taste or aroma of masala , sambar or chutney can be deceived but not Indians. I think you should change your Chef immediately.

A new gem place for South Indian food in Zürich. We have been to Basel and other places in and near Zürich for South Indian cuisine. This one is simply simple and outstanding!!! The owners themselves run the place and are very courteous. The food is fresh and reasonably priced unlike other restaurants in Zürich. Loved it!!!!

Only place with south Indian options in Zürich. One should definitely try out Podi dosa and Idly sambar. The food is good, the sambar can be better. They can work on introducing more seating and service.

Good food and service, rather tight space so make sure to book beforehand. Outdoes the other Indian restaurants in the vicinity, many of which have been around for over a decade.

I wasn't sure what to expect. The restaurant doesn't seem too nice from the outside but the food is AMAZING!🤩 The restaurant is simple but the food is very complex and delicious. I will definitely come back again to try other dishes.

Spending this week in Zurich, looked up on the maps for a quick dinner place. Man was smiling even at 10 pm, that’s welcoming for sure ✨ - Barely 5 mins walk from Oerlikon train station. -Ordered masal dosa going by the name of the restaurant. Tasted pretty good, priced at 17.50. - tried medhu wada, took some time come, priced at 6.00 - South Indian coffee after a meal is a tradition, of course got one, priced at 6.00 Over all found it a bit pricey. Nevertheless it’s Zurich and that justified I suppose. I would revisit when am Zurich again. PS fake plants at the entrance ruin the vibe, could make a huge difference to overall vibe if replaced with real ones 😉

The best South Indian food you would possibly get in Switzerland 🇨🇭 . If you're in Zürich give it a try. This restaurant has become my favourite place to go for food during my stay at oerlikon, Switzerland.

The ambiance, food, and service gives a perfect South Indian restaurant vibe. If you are a dosa lover or have never tried dosas, this is a place to go.

Dosa items is really good. But our meals was served with masala curry which normally used for parottta it was not good. Check before you order a meal what curry they give.

Authentic south Indian restaurant run by Srilankan and Indian chefs. I tried chicken 65, dosai, and chicken biryani. Everything is delicious.

As a South Indian or if you crave South Indian food, you'll be hard pressed to find a better choice in Zürich or even Switzerland. The food is fresh + tastes home cooked and the service is friendly. You will need to book a reservation to get a chance to taste the food, but it's worth it.

Its a family run restaurant - as expected, the quality of food was amazing and to the right portion. Food were priced very reasonably. Service, despite being a dmall restaurant, was pleasantly very fast.

We had masala dosa and kottu paratha. Both were average. I was really disappointed as I had high hopes with this place given the rating. Staff was friendly.

I visited as people highly recommended it, may be its one of the better place in Zurich and less expensive. Got appointment after two days, food is okay/ over hipped. Small place hence difficult to get a table.

The food is very authentic and extremely tasty. I can recommend it! The service could be a little better. Sometimes you get the feeling that the staff don't have that much experience in service or are a bit overwhelmed. However, always very friendly, which makes up for it. The atmosphere is a bit bland, but we go there for food and it's great! :)

One of the most authentic South Indian cuisine in Switzerland. Dosa tasted fantastically good. The service was very accommodating and looked after us very well. Unfortunately, they didn't want to accept the well-deserved tip. So you have no choice but to go there again and test other dosa variations.
