Masoala in Zürich

A little better than Panantal but still convinence food at exorbitant prices

The fries are made from unpeeled potatoes (to increase the margin?) and have a lot of black spots (rot of the potatoes or pest infestation?), taste more like cardboard than like good fries. Maybe they are the worst fries in Switzerland. Unfortunately the chicken nuggets aren't good at all either. Presumably made from homogenized meat mass, this is how you imagine the cheapest nuggets. Loose consistency and indefinable taste. Really sad (the restaurant at Zolli Basel shows that mass catering can be different). The only good thing is the view of the rainforest.

We were at the “Masoala by Night” event. It was the Christmas present for my loved one. It started with an aperitif in the nature reserve, after which you could explore the hall in very dignified and respectful lighting. We heard a few birds and saw a few ducks by the water. Unfortunately no other animals showed themselves to us. I was hoping for a few bats. The meal took place in the restaurant. Since the windows were unfortunately not anti-reflective on the inside, we had no view of the hall despite the window space, which we found to be a shame 😔 The restaurant was very full and the noise level was relatively high, which meant that despite the beautiful table decorations and enough distance for privacy the atmosphere of an Ikea restaurant to the table next to you. There was no background music either. The food was to die for and of high quality. The service was very attentive and friendly. We didn't lack anything. The dessert buffet and the cheese selection were also extensive, but unfortunately I almost ran out of space 😢 I only had a few fruits and a coffee crème brûlée and my partner a passion fruit mousse. Conclusion: An experience that you should definitely treat yourself to. It was a pleasure and we had a very nice evening. The hall at night was also a wonderful sight. But for the price I would have liked a more elegant atmosphere while eating and a view of the hall. Above all, it looked different in the advertising picture. PS: To protect animals, there are only a very limited number of such events. Otherwise there is no lighting at night. The end was scheduled for 10:30 p.m.

Cohesive restaurant; Buffet facilities with many dishes to choose from; Day group was Randen… Tasted very tasty for 4.90 Fr.; However, I found a slice of bread for 1.30 Fr. unusual…

Dear Masoala Restaurant Team (MRT) It's always nice to enjoy a jungle break with you. The renovation was also successful. But I would be happy to volunteer to nail felt or something else that makes noise to every single chair leg overnight. Really, I would be there! Unmotivated woman in the kitchen, got nuggets first and then waited 10 minutes for the burger, nuggets and fries cold

The view of the duck pond and the masaola hall is nice, but the long waiting times first for food and then for payment are less nice. There were only 3 guests standing in front of me at the food counter, but I still had to wait over 10 minutes before I could just place my order. It should be mentioned that the restaurant was not even a quarter full, how long do guests have to wait when the restaurant is really full. The food tastes bland and stale, if I wasn't starving I wouldn't have to eat here anymore.

Culinary dinner in the Masoala rainforest. A beautiful experience in the rainforest. You get a different impression than during the day. The aperitif took place at the bar in the middle of Masoala - a wonderful experience. The four course menu was served in the restaurant. All drinks were included in the price and I don't want to talk about dessert. 😍 I'll just say this: we couldn't decide. 😂

Indescribably beautiful gastronomy. We were just spoiled. Top selection and service. THANK YOU very much Hagen for offering us an unforgettable evening.

Masoala by Night (occasion: 20th birthday for my sister) It was not only a super delicious dinner but an event that will be remembered. Our waitress of the evening (Martina) was extremely attentive but not intrusive. You could tell that she was passionate about it. Price/performance TOP!!! After the introduction and table assignment, you can move around freely in the hall or linger in the restaurant. In the Masoala Hall there is also a Mora Mora Bar where you can enjoy a cocktail, snacks or beer at any time (including between courses). The tour guides showed us amazing tropical plants, trees and the chameleon that visited us at the Mora Mora Bar. I can recommend this to anyone looking for an exceptional but high quality experience. And I have to mention it again, every employee was extremely courteous, professional and friendly.

A great restaurant for a visit to the zoo. By Night it becomes a gourmet restaurant and you can visit the hall at night, illuminated in various ways. Really great!

We booked dinner in the Masoala Hall and were blown away by the experience :) a huge thank you for allowing us to have this experience with you and we can only recommend it. The atmosphere was indescribable, the staff was super friendly and the food was very, very tasty.

The restaurant has been renovated, very nice. I ate the tandori chicken and my husband the red curry and they were truly delicious. The collaborators are very kind and smiling. I will be back soon

Food was pretty good for a canteen-style zoo restaurant. The price is ok and the coffee tasted good too. Unfortunately there are no strollers for the tablet and so you have to juggle with a stroller and alone.

I love the food at Masoala Restaurant because it always has delicious curries and fresh desserts.

Although we only got 2 sandwiches and a roll, the gentleman there was very friendly to us and our little ones. Sandwich were very nice but a bit expensive.

Extremely salty food, I got Massaman Curry. My nephew's french fries were also super salty. We both drank a bottle of water while eating. The only food that was ok was the vegan dish. I've been here before and I never had this problem.

Very hungry and full of anticipation, we went to eat in the restaurant. Unfortunately the restaurant was full but not enough employees were available. Unfortunately my burger was ice cold, after the complaint a new one was prepared, unfortunately even colder. Please be sure to hire more staff during peak times, as the preparation will only suffer.

Very good food, also for vegetarians and vegans. It has a good selection of different dishes, deserts and drinks. When things are not going at full speed, it invites you to linger.

Had there a company event once and I have to admit it was fantastic. Of course, with 180 people you cannot expect everybody to get the dishes at once. But in case you have a boring neighbour at table, you can simply watch over the water adjoined to the huge windows that separates the hall with its subtropical climate and the dining area. And while you look into the dark of the masoala hall it is like meditating while looking for a pair of eyes or the movement of a shadow you have not seen on the guided tour before dinner startet. And waiting is worth it. You will not be disappointed by the creations of the caterer.

With a large window front and a view directly into the Masoala Hall. It's fun to watch the animals eat. My favorite dish is the Masoala Curry (vegetarian curry) with rice and fine chips (cassava, etc.) on top.

Varied and healthy cuisine, good selection of desserts. The prices are okay (the drinks are expensive like everywhere else). The service is sometimes extremely slow. You can usually find a place (not as crowded as the main restaurant) with a great view directly into the Masoala hall.

Eating while watching animals is an exciting thing. The food is good

We booked the tropical dinner at the Mora Mora Bar as a larger group. We were all completely thrilled. The tour was totally exciting and, especially at night in the dark, something very special. We learned a lot that we didn't know before and got to see interesting Masoala residents. The food was simply amazing, we all agreed that this amazing meal was one of the best we had ever tasted. A big compliment to the kitchen. We also had an allergy sufferer with us who was not allowed to eat milk/gluten or nuts at the time. We reported this 2-3 weeks in advance. Their menu was by no means a “substitute” but could completely keep up with ours. This is anything but self-evident. We are absolutely thrilled! We're usually avid food photographers, but when we were asked for photos the next day, we realized that it was so delicious that no one even thought about taking a photo :-) The service also left nothing to be desired, we were served very friendly and courteously. The highlight was of course the 3 chameleons who made themselves comfortable right in the bar. :-) Thank you very much for this great experience! We definitely weren't there for the last time!

Eating well seems to me to be rather healthy, the burger roll contains legumes, nuts, etc. Beautiful view of the rainforest. However, very loud when the restaurant is full (holiday season, weekend)

The Masoala Rain Forest is an amazing man-made indoor forest. No idea how many different plant and animals you can find in there but there's a lot. There is a tower inside the hall where you can ascent to the top using the stairs and you'll get an idea of how huge the hall is. Of course you also feel the difference of the humidity and the temperature when you are on top of the tower. The hall has also a restaurant with many different menues, snacks, salade and cakes. Kid's can enjoy kids meals. A souvenir shop offers you various items. If you enter the Masoala Forest through the zoo you can exit the forest from the regular exit and enter again the zoo from the regular entrance. Just make sure you keep your tickets. Great place to spend time and to get an impression of a rain forest.

Everything is freshly cooked, you can try out new flavors, but you don't have to. The children's menus all come with some raw snacks, which I really appreciate. If you want, you can watch the animals in the Masoala Hall through the large windows.

After visiting the beautiful Masoala Hall, we immediately went to eat in this restaurant. The food was top notch. Nothing spectacular, but good. The location is of course very special, especially because of the view of the Masoala Hall.

Well, it's ok, but not more, you could get more out of it. At 12.30 there were no more cutlery at both cash registers. The cashier asks her colleague if she knows whether there is any cutlery in the dishes... the salad buffet is a tragedy, the food that is scooped out is all lukewarm. Fries / fish snacks / nuggets a cardboard of the finest. You should think about the offer here.

The route to the restaurant is simply spectacular. Unfortunately the food isn't that special, but I still enjoy eating there with a view of the rainforest. It's a shame that those in charge don't take inspiration and serve some fun, tasty and creative dishes. There are many banana plants, the leaves are ideal for preparing some delicious dishes.

Self-service restaurant in the tropical house of the Zurich Zoo. From the restaurant you have a great view along the entire length through a large window directly into the tropical house. The view of the tropical greenery is very relaxing and you can watch the animals. The food is rather simple. There is a good selection of cakes and sweet items. The dishes are reasonably priced at 12 to 16 francs. With the annual pass you get another 10% discount. The service is friendly. Highly recommended for a short trip to the exotic tropical world.
