Matterhorn Restaurant Zermatt in Zermatt

It was a rainy day and we didn’t feel like doing much outdoor activities, we just wanted to have a nice warm meal and relax. We went to the Alpen & Spa Resort Hotel to try their fabulous SPA, where we actually ended up going twice that week. Very high standards, super clean and super relaxing scent. The staff of the hotel was very kind and friendly! We also tried their restaurant. Been served by a lovely Portuguese woman who served us in such a polite and sweet way. The food was such high quality, beyond delicious. The meat was the best part. But what put a big smile on our face was the dessert when we chose the Chef’s Choice and we didn’t know what to expect! We received such a lovely creative surprise. Highly recommended!

I like the resort room, which is spacious and equipped with a kitchen.

though the steak and deer were delicious, the dining experience was not pleasant. the staff was very busy during the whole time which took a while to make an order. we asked for tap water but at the end of the meal we were charged an additional fee for still water. we were confused by this but they insisted that the water they served was still water not tap water. we have been to other restaurants in Swiss and ordered still water, the staff opened it in front of us but today they didn’t. we are not sure if this is normal in Zermatt…

One day in July 2023, I was wandering around looking for a restaurant where I could eat cheese fondue, when I found it and went in. I wasn't staying at the hotel where this restaurant was located, and of course I hadn't made a reservation, but they let me in, saying, ``Normally it's too crowded, so you guys are lucky.'' I didn't know if he was being casual or serious. For the dishes, I ordered cheese fondue, shrimp risotto, and caprese. I'm glad I had the cheese fondue I had in Switzerland for the first time in my life. At first, I thought the alcohol was strong, but as I got used to the cheese, the alcohol content disappeared, and by the time it became just delicious cheese, I was absorbed in eating it. The caprese and risotto were both very delicious. The staff at the store were polite, friendly, and professional. Perhaps by chance, the lighting around the table I was shown to was dim. It was a very romantic atmosphere to say the least. As expected, this was a hotel restaurant in Switzerland and in the middle of a tourist area, so the prices were high. It can't be helped, though.

The steak is tender, the tomato soup is thick, and the ice cream and dessert are delicious

Superb restaurant. Entrance is difficult to find, you have to go directly to the hotel (poorly signposted) but it’s definitely worth the detour! Very pleasant service, thank you Good meals, plentiful, lots of choice

One of the best restaurants in Zermatt I must say you won’t regret it. A pretty cozy vibe, salad bar with abundant choices of greens and soup. Their cheese fondue is highlight of the day. Not a big fan of lamb but I just couldn’t help having a bite after a bite, it’s so tender. Very respectable service. I fully recommend it.

Great meal, very tasteful and prices correct. You're eating in an traditional mountain Swiss style of restaurant, which brings you the right atmosphere. Comfortable also for families with young kids, as the Hotel which the restaurant is part of, has a kids facility right next to it. So parents can sit and relax knowing that the their children are busy having fun and safe. Fondly recommend.

Matterhorn Restaurant is located in Zermatt, Switzerland/Zermatt When I looked for the restaurant again, it took me a while to find it on a rainy day. It turned out to be located on the first floor of a hotel. 2023.05.20 (Saturday) Meal period: Dinner Meal content: 1.Bread 2. Vegetable cream soup 3. Chicken breast with roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables 4.Meringue Zermatt’s local mountain cuisine has a very earthy taste. The dining environment is comfortable and classic, worth a try.

Fantastic food. The veal steak was succulent and flavourful with a good selection of vegetables, and the traditional fondue with bread and potatoes was just as I imagined. The staff were attentive to our needs and informative as to the dishes presented. Recommended.

Unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not justified. Soups were very tasteless and watery. The main course (vegi game plate) was very sparse. The wine we ordered was never served. The restaurant wasn't fully occupied, but we still had to wait a long time for everything and the service hardly responded to our requests. Won't be coming back.

Not very pleasant staff. Only speaks Italian. No smile. We had a reservation. We really felt like we were bothering them. Meal not transcendent and rather expensive. Cold flamenkuche and the dishes were not served at the same time.

Very good service, great ambience and perfectly balanced food. A real pleasure. Price is rather cheap for Zermatt standards. Highly recommended. Not far from the train station but not in the high society area either. Always my pleasure

The food was savoury and delicious, we loved the beef carpaccio! All the waiters and Waitresses were very friendly and attentive to us throughout the meals and gave us a pleasant dining experience.

We were staying in the Hotel and the half board service was well worth it. Every night there was a different theme and the service was welcoming and personal. Can only recommend!

We were exhausted when we arrived in Zermatt and were staying at the hotel. Despite a principle of "don't eat at the hotel" and the relatively low review scores, our family of five ate here and had a delicious meal. The service was helpful and attentive. The food was fresh and well prepared. Highly recommended!

Great service from both servers, Ladislav and Marcos were very friendly . The food was excellent, we had the pumpkin soup and the soup of the day and the were both great. We also had the cheese Plato with ham, sausage and cheese that was really good. My husband and I split the Lamp Shank with polenta that was cooked perfect! We highly recommend this restaurant

I stayed here as a half-board tour guest. Twice I was left out of the appetizer of the course. When I was not feeling well and only ordered soup, the waitress naturally brought me soup from the salad bar. They think they are Japanese and make fun of them.

We were there in November, so it was not high season. Very unfriendly staff in the restaurant. Food was not fresh.

Absolutely beautiful view. Simply breath taking. However the staff at the restraint is not nice or friendly. Especially to foreigners.
