Loved the variety of chocolate here. Mostly they are truffles and other pretty highly curated choices. They have some vegan truffles too, which I appreciated, as I can only eat lactose free chocolate :) It was interesting to me because in the United States I am used to eating vegan chocolate but it is only chocolate bars and not chocolate truffles. I got a box of vegan truffles and each was interesting and it was delightful to try each of them. Had a great time.

High quality and creative chocolates. In my opinion, much better than other well known Swiss chocolate companies like Sprüngli and Läderach.

I highly recommend this place for a hot chocolate! I am not a fan of dark chocolate but they were very nice to make a milk chocolate one just for me, and it was soooo good!!! Definitely warmed up my day meeting this place and having my warm drink while spending a few hours touring Zurich!

If you want to use the word heavenly when referring to chocolate, this is the place to come to. Bonbons here were definitely expensive, more than 2 Francs for one little piece, but it was well worth it for the extraordinary experience. Their chocolate bonbons are hand made in Switzerland by expert chocolatiers, and you can really tell the difference. This is not ordinary chocolate that you get in a supermarket. An extremely silky and pleasant texture accompanied with whatever flavor you choose. They actually have a different selection for every season, we happened to taste their summer collection with lots of raspberries and almonds.

‎‏I was there in my last day in Zürich ( Unfortunately) ,I discovered the shop by coincidence . What a great quality , the boutique is very cozy. Andrea and Maria were very welcoming and generous. I was already finished from chocolate shopping the day before, but i couldn’t resist the great chocolate, so i bought some , and theye also had a chocolate spreads which was as good as there chocolate . i bought one too) . They gave me chocolate sorbet as a gift . what a great and tasty experince For sure this will be my first choice chocolataire from Switzerland.

My favourite chocolate and chocolate shop in Zurich! I have been particularly impressed by the uniqueness, attention to detail and research of the ingredients. The products are handmade. Prices are a little bit higher than any other chocolate shop, but the quality is much better.

We tried about 6 different truffles and none of them were outstanding. Overpriced and overrated. Staff was courteous—hence the 2*.

I'm used to Sprüngli's chocolate. Which tastes very good. However, the chocolate from Max Chocolatier is a lot tastier, a real taste explosion took place on my tongue. I've never had such good pralines before! I can wholeheartedly recommend the super fine chocolate! If you are also a chocolate lover, this is a must see & must eat for you!

Cute little shop and very nice chocolates

We did a chocolate bar making workshop with Renatta and we had so much fun. The chocolate was delicious and we leaned a lot about the chocolate making process. We would highly recommend Max Chocolatier and their team. Our kids are 12 and 15 and both enjoyed this workshop. The chocolate is so good. We also went to the Lindt Home of Chocolate and definitely preferred Max.

Beautiful, well-made chocolates in a nice quiet area of Zurich. Had a great conversation with the employee (possibly owner?) working there and could tell he was so passionate about chocolate. He even gave me a box of the 100% dark chocolate to bring to home, I was so excited! Great little place.

Maria is professional and friendly, she always makes me feel welcome and she is able to always uncover exactly what I want. We did a Zürich chocolate tour of our own yesterday and Max Chocolatier was the only place that got 10/10 for both the chocolate and the experience. Cannot rate this place enough. I think I would have bought anything from the extremely helpful and impassioned server with a teddy in his right pocket! The green tea chocolate was also the best singular chocolate I’ve ever had - and I don’t say that lightly. Out of all the places we went to in Zurich city centre (10), this was the only store that told us a story too.

Lovely shop and lovely chocolates. I had a very short time in Zurich so wanted to be strategic about which chocolatier to visit. I’m glad I came here. The shop is intimate with a good (not overwhelming) selection of quality chocolate offerings. The shop keeper was very invested in making sure the visitor’s questions were answered and provided a interactive learning experience. I only purchased four truffles and regretted it. Highly recommend Max Chocolatier!

Best Heisse Schoggi in Zürich. The other ones just don't come close to the richness of chocolate with this one. And for a very reasonable price of 5.50 CHF. The lady at the counter was also so nice and attentive. Would definitely go again when I'm in town.

Extremely high quality chocolates with very thoughtful packaging. I was looking for Swiss confections to send home to my family. Sprungli and Teuscher are great and well known in Zurich, but if you’re looking for a truly gourmet experience come to Max. They also have very good costumer service which is a huge plus.

In Max Chocolatier you can taste the best hot chocolate in Zürich. The Schlüsselgasse shop has the atmosphere you think you can find only n movies. Like in the movie Chocolate with Juliette Binoche. You are transported in time into the place where chocolate is the center and helps on every problem. The service and help you get here is amazing. You will get help and best recommendation. The selection and quality of handmade chocolate is really big. And as cherry on the top - packaging is also simly beautifull.

Combination of really helpful personell and heavenly chocolates. Absolutely must-visit four gourmet-lovers. My personal favorite is the Passion fruit chocho baby bonbons. Best way to spend 10 CHF.

My family and I spent 10 nights in Switzerland and by far, our highlight of the trip was our Chocolate Tasting and Making class at the gorgeous Max Chocolatier studio. We learned so much about chocolate and had the best chocolate we’ve ever had (seriously… Max’s chocolate puts Lindt and Callier to utter shame). Sarah led our Tasting portion and she was absolutely phenomenal. Friendly, informative, passionate, and wildly knowledgeable answering all our questions about both Switzerland and also all things chocolate. She even stayed past our workshop time to continue answering our questions. It really is an incredible chocolatier with chocolates made with the highest quality ingredients. If you can’t make it to a workshop, I highly recommend buying some chocolates at their nearby shop! I’ve eaten all my truffles already - my biggest regret is that I didn’t buy more! Still dreaming of their chocolate covered almonds…

I only had a day to spend in Zurich and am so glad I visited this spot! The woman who helped me pick out chocolate was so kind and welcoming. She told me about her work and the shop and the different types of chocolate. I highly recommend stopping in! I also needed a gift that would last at least a month and travel well, which she helped me pick out! The chocolate is amazing.

Do yourself a favor and try their sticky oranges covered in grand cru chocolate. Never has a more perfect chocolate existed in this world! Beyond happy they opened up their Zurich store again.

Was helped by Jacquelin who was quite possibly the rudest person I encountered in my whole trip here in Zurich. Not sure why she was so mean, but I wouldn’t recommend visiting.

This place has changed ... Not commenting about the chocolate but about the experience in the shop. They seem not to need any customers. The girl working there seems to be very indifferent and not intersted in selling at all. Would rather go to Läderach.

All I can say is it was heavenly delicious

Hot chocolate, hardly any aroma, almost only foam in the cup, for which we paid a whopping CHF 6.50. Chocolate cake for Fr. 5.50 with caramel was so salty that it was inedible

Rude experience ... unfortunately, contrary to what many of the reviews said about exceptional service and informative description of each chocolate, my server instead gave brief, curt comments of each chocolate, and I felt unwelcome... despite being the only customer in the shop. I almost felt rushed to purchase - she even picked the last truffle into my customised box without asking what I want !!!! Honestly, I was really close to not purchase... the truffles were good, but I wouldn’t hold it above them to say they were fantastic. I was basically only allowed to try one truffle ... but nonetheless trusting other reviewers, I decided to purchase a box. Hopefully the other flavours will blow my mind. Absolutely shocking, I remember her name tag if the establishment would like to know.

We experienced a very friendly employee who explained the products to us in detail with patience and enthusiasm. Of course we had to take action and it was worth it. Not only visually great but also great in taste!

Great little chocolate shop in the heart of Zurich. All the chocolates here are hand made. Very friendly and helpful service with nice samples. It is tucked away with a bit of stairs, but totally worth it.

By far the best Swiss chocolate. There is only one store each in Lucerne and Zurich, and there is no overseas expansion, so it is very rare. Bonbon chocolates, especially those made with fruit sauce, are fragrant and of great quality.

Of all of the different highly rated chocolatiers in Zurich, Max is by far the best!!! Every chocolate has an extensive description. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would! Must go!

Very rude clerk. We weren't greeted when we entered the door. We are from out of town and needed directions to the bathroom first (they do not have a bathroom), she was very aloof and disinterested. Plenty of other chocolate places in Zurich. Recommend Laderach! And Honold has tea and food!

Amazing organic and homemade chocolate. Really really special. Nothing compared to what you would find in any supermarket or even in a fancy chocolate store. Its unique and boutique stile.

I know Max isn’t nearly as popular as Sprungli and Ladurach but they are by far my favorite. Their store is really small and it can get crowded but you must go! And if you can find the dark chocolate fingers filled with raspberry jelly and dusted with pink shimmer, do try them.

If you are looking for a good chocolatier you have found it. It’s a clean, well-organized and warm store. The customer service was perfect. We met Javier Tamborino who was in charge of the store during our visit. He is very professional and very kind (welcoming). Plus the chocolates are excellent. There is a lot of choice and something for all tastes. To give gifts or even to buy yourself some, it really is the ideal company (the value for money is impressive).

My brother and I had an extensive chocolate tasting at Max with Javier. He described the history of Max, and the ingredients and flavors that go into each and every chocolate we tasted. One of the best chocolate makers in the world!

Love their chocolate! The best in Zurich and Luzern. Truffles are perfectly balanced with delicious flavor and texture. Truffles change seasonally so it's great to try new things. You won't be disappointed, worth a visit (multiple if you have time).

Beautiful boutique in a small alley near the city centre. The staff member of the store is extremely friendly and helpful, whilst not bringing us the pressure. I particularly like the atmosphere inside the shop, and the package. But nothing beats the good taste of the dark chocolate they have made. Would recommend everyone to pay a visit.

Amazing boutique chocolatier - 15 employees, 4 of whom are master chocolatiers. This store is very different from all the big ones you will visit along Bahnhofstrasse. While the big stores are clearly oriented around quickly selling you lots of chocolate (some even have credit card terminals scattered throughout the store), Max Chocolatier features thoughtful, caring staff who take the time to explain the company story and all the different flavors. Exquisite flavors and design. Wish we could have tried everything in the store!
