Mensa Neues Biozentrum (BaCells) in Basel

One star is already too much... the food is inedible, far too expensive, not seasoned and not well cooked. Even as a student you pay 7.50-12.50 and I have never been satisfied. The taste is not right (tastes like nothing or way too salty). The dishes are still raw or frozen. Wouldn't recommend anyone to eat there.

I think the new biocenter is very nice :) I can't judge whether it's functional. The following about the cafeteria, where I wanted to enjoy lunch every now and then and was disappointed. I rarely ate something that I thought was good. It seems to me that they are trying to spice up their restaurant with inappropriate combinations. For example, a barley risotto with beetroot and dried figs, it tasted like they only had salt to season it. The barley was dry and all deceased Italians turn over in their graves at the sight of this. In general, I particularly liked special combinations. a. for vegetarians, e.g. mashed potatoes with a vegetable patty and quinoa salad. The fried sauce should round the whole thing off tastefully. My fellow students and I suggest the following: simple and good quality food such as pasta with normal sauces (no beetroot please), normal risotto or with mushrooms (no beetroot please), a good Thai curry (without cherry tomatoes!!!!) or fine Alpine maccarons :)

A disaster on the first visit (extremely long waiting time). Better now, but I still miss the “old cafeteria” on Bernoullistrasse! When will this finally open again? Also: the chairs are not that comfortable and there are few seats.
