Olive & Oregano in Zug

A perfect Greek place in city centre Zug

So, we ordered the Meze Plate Poseidon (Sea) to share. See the menu card with the following ingredients: Volcano Garida, Taramosalata, Pita Bread, Calamari Fries, Fish Nuggets, Squid Salad, and Shrimp Salad. I mentioned my allergy to shrimp to the waiter and asked if we could have something else instead of the shrimp salad. He then said that the chef does not want to make any changes. How outrageous! Then I ate and gave the shrimp salad to my partner. And now, be careful, when I cut and ate the Volcano Garida, there were shrimp in it, and the waiter did not tell us or mention it! Luckily, I had an emergency kit with me; otherwise, the restaurant would have been responsible for their irresponsible actions! The waiter was initially arrogant and rude and then said "sorry, I forgot," and said it wasn't his fault since he didn't make the menu, but he earns his money, and 20% is for the service of the guests so that the right thing is ordered, etc., so he didn't do his job. As if that would make everything okay. Absolutely unacceptable, better to avoid this irresponsible, rude place! Out of courtesy, I was given the drink on the house, but it wasn't what I ordered. I ordered a Hugo, and it was white wine with soda. So, overall, a disappointment. You can consider yourselves lucky that I'm not pressing charges against you.

Important negative point We took mixed dish for two - calamari. The dish was delicious, it was fresh and nice. BUT, i don't want to hurt someone.. my friend is allergic to shrimp, we told the waiter and on the menu card we just saw shrimp salad and other dishes are wrote in another language not english or german.. but we told the waiter about allergic and we want to change through another.. without shrimps salad, the waiter told it isn't possible the dishes were fixed.. fine. We get two kind of dumplings with shrimps in it.. the waiter doesn't told us what is inside.. you know what happened next.. so the service isn't careful or they don't do there job! For allergic people the restaurant isn't recommended!

Super tasty small dishes. I had feta in honey and crispy fish knusperli. Both delicious. Interiors are not so special but having tables outside and a lake view certainly makes up for it. Service was fast, they are always super nice. I think people tent to come here randomly when it is sunny in Zug and they want to sit outside but the tapes choice is actually lovely and worthy giving it a try. See you soon.

Always a good choice, good food, friendly service

This is not an average greek restaurant, this is actually a really good place to get greek food! I got the gyros plate and it was awesome. The pita bread was crispy, the chicken was very well cooked, the tzatziki and the potatoes tasted great. They have a big shaded terrace and the waiter who took care of me was friendly and spoke English. I’m happy I found this place in Zug and would definitely come back for another gyros!

Super unfriendly staff and a very rude “manager” who conveniently refused to give his name! The food quality was not great. There was hair in the gyro that we ordered and when we let them know the server just looked at us …. No apologies, let alone offering to change the plate! The seafood quality was bad! Two of us ordered it and we both got nauseous and diarrhea after! Defiantly not recommend this place!

Visit from 03.08.23 Excellent fish served with a divinely good vegetable ratatouille! To recommend and to do again during a next getaway.

If you like super small and therefore totally overpriced portions and prices, you are welcome to go. In any case, they won't see us there again. Had a gyro plate and a Crete salad, plus two Cola Zero at 5.50 for 0.33l. 18 pieces (!) of fries, a teaspoon of tzatziki and a gyro, which was more fat than meat. And all of this together for Fr. 70.-. Every snack bar comes close to this standard, but for a third of the price...

Highly recommend dining at Olive and Oregano. The food is absolutely delicious and you can taste the freshness. We had Thomas as our server and he was the best. He was extremely pleasant and offered excellent recommendations for food and beverages. He went above and beyond to make us feel at home. I would definitely come back.

Absolute cheekiness, very unpleasant, overpriced, absolutely not recommended

I was on the terrace yesterday afternoon. Sideways in the shade. The staff started off well and then slowed down a lot. I ordered from the waiter, 1x bowl and 1 drink. I received everything. Perfect. Later I ordered 1 more Coupe Haribo. After about 30 minutes I went to the restaurant on my own initiative to ask. Okay, you forgot it. I won't say much yet. Can happen. Then I received the coupe within 5 minutes and asked for an invoice straight away so that I didn't want to sit there today. The Haribos were as hard as pimples. (I don't know if it has to be that way) and the ice cream is rather "crunchy". I was able to beg for the bill again and in the end the bowl was charged at a more expensive price than what was on the menu. The waiter (again a new one) had to clarify this with the boss. So the amount stated on the card was paid by me. As I said: started well and slowed down a lot. But I also complained to the staff on site and would otherwise have gone to another restaurant where the customers were more in need and might be better taken into account. Best regards. The potential above is still pretty open, I would say.

Fine food but small portions which is a shame. The service is a bit hit and miss. Lunch is very good and so is the service. In the evening you need a lot of patience and you shouldn't expect the usual portions from the Greek

We had dinner at the Olive and Oregano restaurant. Our waiter, Fedya, was very courteous and spoke many languages. The restaurant was very tasty. We especially liked the appetizers: the tzatziki, the grilled octopus, and the fried calamari were especially good. For the main course, we had a dorada with baked potatoes and vegetables. The fish was tasty, so were the potatoes and vegetables. The other plate was sea bass with tagliatelle and vegetables. That piece of fish was not very big and was somewhat little dry. The pasta was average. Overall, we really enjoyed the restaurant and would love to come back again. We especially recommend the mezze platters.

The two of us went there for dinner once. We each had an appetizer. For the main course we had a meat plate for two people. After the main course we were still hungry. The portions were very small. The taste was good but for the price you are expected to be full.

Was there for the first time yesterday. Go again. Welcomed straight away. Very friendly service and great food.

We sat down in the restaurant outside in the afternoon on Tuesday, July 26th, 2022. The waiter asked us if we wanted food, we said no, then the waiter served everyone around our table except us, so we were disappointed and moved to the restaurant next door. The waiter didn't even ask us what we wanted to drink.

Nice service, very tasty lunch. The haloumi salad "with feta" in particular was absolutely fantastic. Many many thanks

Location is nice! Service good! Brownie with vanilla ice cream was MUCH too small for 11.- and tasted average. Cappuccino not really good. Greek frappe cannot be compared to those in Greece.

The staff are friendly, but the chocolate brownie is far too small for these 11 francs and it wasn't very good either.

Nice location and very good meze! We had to wait a little longer for the main course, the meze as a starter came quite quickly, but we were there around 6:15 p.m. The tables outside are not really nice, but a nicer ambience could be created here. The service was friendly and also pointed out to us that the small meze plate was enough as a starter for two people.

Greek...train...lake...sunset...what more could you want...a meze experience of a special kind...many thanks to the service...wine and food were fantastic

NEVER AGAIN. Extemely unfriendly people! We waited over 15 minutes just to be seated , and then the "manager" comes out and tells us if we only want an "ice cream & a drink" the bar is next door. They dont have time. They only want people who will also eat something! All 7 of us laughed at him and went next door and left them a 100$ tip ♛

Once again a top restaurant. The service staff put a lot of heart into their work and it has to be that way in the kitchen too. Very good food at a very high level. Thank you, we felt really comfortable with you last night. We'll be back soon.

The staff was friendly but chaotic. 20 minutes after ordering we hadn't even received the drinks. After we made a “thirst signal” to the waiter, he came over and asked what we had ordered. The vegetarian mezze was quite, not delicious, but presented carelessly. However, the price was modest. Going to the toilet left a very dirty impression.

The food is very good, the greek salad was a bit overpriced for what it is.

This is a nice Restaurant with very friendly staff. The Tapas are quite nice, the grilled pulpo super nice. They have quite a big selection of food, also some Greek stuff mixed in. The wine selection is pretty nice, the red Thema from Greece is very nice. Terrasse is pretty big and has space for enough people. Dessert and coffee was nice, would come again

Die Bedienung ist etwas langsam, aber noch erträglich. Nachdem er ca. 3 mal an mir vorbeigelaufen ist, konnte ich die Bestellung aufgeben, die dann auch zügig kam. Das Weizen war kühl und der Tapasteller Andaluse war gut. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist angemessen.

Today, Monday April 19th, 21, first day of partial opening, hopelessly overwhelmed and moody staff unfortunately, at least 1 - 2 more serving employees would have been right... menu was interesting, however... after waiting for more than 25 minutes we got up again and left.

Not great but not bad either, just not very freshly made (artichokes from Blick, calamari tough) but aranschini and cheese croquettes were fine

Positiv: ein wirklich feiner Pulposalat mit weichen und schmackhaften Pulpos. Patatas bravas kennen wir anders und besser, waren eher wie warme Pommes-Chips und der Jamon iberico zäh und beinahe ungeniessbar. Guter, aber teurer Hauswein: 1dl. Fr. 10.-. Service unaufmerksam und vergesslich.

Bis auf den Hummus (da müssten sie echt mal googeln wie der gemacht wird ;-)) war der Rest ausgezeichnet und der Service freundlich. Meine beste Freundin und ich gingen nach dem Lockdown hier essen, als erstes Mal nach dem langen Verzicht und hatten einen sehr leckeren und schönen Abend. (bis auf den Hummus :-D)

Sehr nettes Personal. Das Essen ein Gaumenschmaus. Originelle Tapasvariationen. Grosse Auswahl. Preise normal. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Leckere Tapas welche alle selbstgemacht sind und gut gewürzt. Es hat eine grosse Auswahl an kalten und warmen Tapas, leckere Salate (mein Tipp Haloumi-Salat mit Erdbeerdressing). Bedienung ist sehr freundlich und die Portionen sind gross. Fazit - bestes Resti auf dem Landsgmeindsplatz!!:)

You can eat good tapas and drink good wine here. The staff is friendly and the prices are correct. The place is not that far from the lake.

This place has very tasty snacks and friendly waiters. And the prices for Switzerland are quite affordable. The tables outside offer beautiful views of the lake. There are 4 or 5 different establishments located next to each other in this square, but this is the one I liked the most!

Wieder mal den Sonnenuntergang gemütlich bei einem mediterranen Menu geniessen und das waren die besten Crevetten die ich seit langem hatte. Auch der griechische Wein passte sehr gut dazu.

Hygiene is non-existent, neither the tables nor the menu seem to have ever been cleaned in the last few weeks. It's a shame that there isn't much distance regulation either. Coffee and coupe were very good for that.

Good tapas restaurant in the old town of Zug, not at but near the lake, if you sit outside you have a good view on it. Wide selection of tapas and some other Spanish dishes, nice wine card.
