Orchid Restaurant & Bar in Lugano

I went on Monday evening with a friend of mine! Nice place, very good food. Service a little slow. Friendly and pleasant staff. I'll be back, I have to try the buffet too! 😁

Food is delicious, with carefully prepared traditional Thai dishes. The staff is friendly and attentive. The restaurant is welcoming and comfortable. Thai Orchid is a fantastic option for those looking for authentic and delicious Thai cuisine. I highly recommend it.

Very nice and characteristic place, excellent food and perfect service. The girl was alone in the room but managed the service perfectly, smiling and cheerful. Highly recommended

I LOVE this place, every time I want to eat out in Lugano my choice falls on this restaurant. Maybe the abundant dishes, the honest prices, the very kind staff, but I really recommend it to everyone, a great experience.

Very good and fresh Thai food on a Saturday night. Super reasonable price considering being in Lugano. Fast service, the food was served very warm and it was really tasty. I don’t agree with all the reviews complaining about the service. I will surely come back!

Honestly one of the worst restaurant experiences in my life. We were welcomed my the most unfriendly host who not only rolled here eyes when we asked for a children's seat for our two year old, but did not even smirk after hearing my girlfriends joke about thai food (a hilarious joke i might add). We decided to kill her with kindness, but after receiving what can only be described as ‘microwaved remains of what was once something that resembled thai food’ we asked for the check. 86€. I would have paid double not to eat here.

Not very friendly service, a shame. Food not really Thai authentic

Service very unmotivated. Various dishes on the menu were apparently sold out (but we were the first guests that evening) Ambiance: Dining area in two parts - one with little light, so the menu cannot be read without a flashlight. The other half has too bright light - resulting in no atmosphere. Food ok so far - but not anymore.

Food was pretty good. Could be more flavorful. Expect slow service.

I agree with a previous review: I had the impression that the food was not very fresh (reheated so to speak, apart from the pad thai made on the spot). The green curry was a little too "washed out" although very good in taste. Friendly service (an extra smile wouldn't hurt).

Eating at Thai is always a different experience every time. Sometimes I have the impression that the food is not very fresh, sometimes it is very tasty, sometimes it is rigorously made... The service also depends a bit on who is on duty. I find the environment too dark but with attention to detail in its own way.

The food is always excellent, just don't be in a hurry 😅

Bad experience, service too slow. We spent an hour waiting for the food which arrived wrong and too spicy even though I had specified to make it not very spicy! There is no staff in this place!

The red curry was really delicious and the broth was spicy. I recommend this dish. We also had the vegetable samosas with the sweet dipping sauce. It took some time for the food to be prepared but it was worth the wait. It tasted very homemade.

We stopped by this restaurant for a thai dinner but it didn't meet our expectations: - first of all it took them more than 50 mins to serve us our first order which was a soup "tum yum" yeah it was good but 50 to 60 mins for that is way too much. The main course took another 30 mins on top of that. - The rise used is basmati rise not traditional thai rise or jasmine rice - The main course food was average nothing special nor does it reflect the beauty of thai food which is way I chose the restaurant in the first place. + They did apologize and served us vegetable spring rolls for the delay All in all, I'd steer away from this restaurant.

Very appealing atmosphere and friendly staff. The curry and sweet and sour were excellent and we really enjoyed them. Everything was freshly prepared. Someone cooks here with heart and passion. A real insider tip!

Disgusting and limp Thai sautéed vegetables, prepared for 2 days? Cold samosas, not crunchy and filled with minestrone? Springrolls with vegetables and prawn rolls: ditto cold and not crunchy. I haven't tasted anything Thai at all🤮! Ruined dinner!

Good restaurant, a lot of choice (also very spicy 🥵), fine ingredients, and a cozy location. Be aware: look for a parking spot in advance.

Good food. The rest disaster. 17 francs for a tiny bowl of curry is outrageous. Furthermore, the rice is separate, 50 grams of white rice costs 5 francs... never mind the cost of water which is a problem throughout Switzerland (4.00 francs for 33cl, and 7.50 for 0.7 L). I do not recommend this restaurant.

When you arrive, you see no one as it's their bar downstairs. Don't be discouraged as the restaurant is upstairs, and there it was almost full.Service was so good friendly and fast. The food was heaven 😋

Very good, excellent working lunch

Very nice atmosphere, service speaks Italian and French. The chicken dishes (in my case a Pat Thai) don't contain a lot of meat and are "stretched" with tofu. The food is still very tasty and we received a very tasty small starter without ordering. The price/performance ratio is right👍🏻

🇹🇭🍲🥗 Thai Orchid is a good Thai restaurant in Lugano. They have some seats outsides (just ok for summer, on the street, which is quite) and a cool asian atmosphere inside. They offer a good list of dishes with reasonable prices. We had a good Pad Thai and a cool salad. Staff very kind. They also have Chang Beer. 🐘 Enjoy!

Fantastic food, I ate pad Thai with my family and we were very satisfied, the service is friendly and professional, the place appears very welcoming and picturesque, and there is an excellent value for money. I am very satisfied, I will come back!

Stay away! Very blend tasting food, no spices, no taste. After eating here, 2 out of 4 people in our group had a severe indigestion.

Super lecker, authentische Thai Küche. Wohl das beste Thai Restaurant im Tessin. Das Essen war serh lecker, die Portionen grosszügig.

THAI ORCHID SERVES THE REAL DEAL WHEN IT COMES TO AUTHENTIC THAI CUISINE. THEIR SPRING ROLLS AND SAMOSAS WERE SUPER CRUNCHY AND NOT GREASY. THE PAPAYA SALAD WAS BOUNTIFUL AND BOASTED IN AMAZINGLY TANGY DRESSING. OUR GREEN CURRY PRAWNS AND RED CURRY FILET MIGNON WERE SERVED IN BOWLS. THE SAUCE WAS SO OUTSTANDING THAT WE ENJOYED IT TO THE VERY BOTTOM WITH OUR SPOONS. OUR VEGETABLE EGG FRIED RICE IS ARGUABLY THE VERY BEST WE HAVE EVER VACUUMED. OUR ******* SALUTE TO THAI ORCHID AND THEIR WONDERFULLY KIND TEAM!!!

Abbiamo forzatamente optato per l’asporto. Tutto pronto puntualmente, cucina fine, tutto preparato con attenzione e cura. Alcune pietanze sono confezionate in contenitori ecologici... non tutte. Comunque da consigliare!

Very welcoming restaurant, furnished in oriental style. Friendly staff. The dishes are served with care. Very good pad thai, quite similar to what you eat in Thailand.

Già l'ambiente all'entrata molto bello con un budda che ti accoglie e una cameriera tailandese. Vien misurata la febbre e ti vien chiesto di disinfettare le mani. Poi si va in sala e anche qui c'è una statua di un bellissimo budda e altre decorazioni. Ti sembra già di essere a bangkok. All'inizio vien servito un piccolo assaggio. Come antipasto dei spring roll di verdurra. Cena a base di agrodolce e curry rosso con riso profumato molto buono e anche abbondante due birre e una minerale fr. 60.--. Il prezzo anche molto ragionevole. Tutto ottimo da ritornare e da consigliare.

Gute Qualität der Speisen und dies absolut bezahlbar. Die Portionen sind ebefalls gross. Wir erhielten zum Einstieg einen Gruss aus der Küche, welcher schon recht üppig war. Das Personal war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ohne Reservation ist es jedoch schwierig, einen Platz zu erhalten.

I am a regular customer but every request for an original dish never meets my expectations. And this evening I had a dish with rotten vegetables for dinner. I don't agree for a 7fr egg price!!! The service did not satisfy me after I paid and said hello politely he really snubbed me!!!

ritornato dopo più di un anno, il ristorante è passato alla carta e servizio al tavolo (Covid?) rispetto a prima che aveva il servizio self service. Carta leggermente migliorata e ampliata, cibo buono (Pad Thai, minestra di pollo e cocco....), ambiente carino e accogliente. Servizio buono anche se non in stile Thai...

Freundlicher Empfang und Bedienung; sehr leckeres Thai-Essen zu günstigen Preisen (Hauptgänge max. CHF 20). Sehr gutes Preis-/Leistungs-Verhältnis. Gutes Ambiente, eher nicht für gepflegten Ausgang, sondern für ein feines Thai-Nachtessen.

Das Essen ist sehr gut und der Preis ist unschlagbar! Die meisten Hauptgerichte sind im Bereich von 20.- dazu gibt es immer einen Gruss aus der Küche zur Vorspeise.

Una splendida serata passata a Lugano con il contributo di un’ottima cena tra amici, locale molto bello arredato a tema, pulito, personale gentilissimo, per il bagno bisogna scendere le scale, tavoli all’aperto, tavoli rotondi e il classico rettangolare, ottimo il distanziamento tra i tavoli. Le portate ottime e curate nella presentazione se chiudiamo gli occhi senti l’atmosfera che si trova in Thailandia prezzi interessanti sotto la media Svizzera ma non la qualità del cibo che è ottima. Parcheggio sotterraneo a 500 metri nelle vicinanze del casinò, costo del parcheggio 1 Franco per due ore. Consiglio e ritornerò sicuramente

Il ristorante è molto carino al suo interno e anche spazioso.Il servizio non è nello stile thai, e in alcuni momenti direi addirittura distratto.Ho preso un pad-thai che a dire il vero non mi ha esaltato e risultava essere piuttosto gommoso, ma soprattutto non si avvertivano bene i sapori.È assolutamente da riprova, sperando almeno in un servizio più gradevole.

Tasty Thai food, excellent service

Piacevolmente sorpreso dall'arredamento interno e delicatezza del servizio. Piatti abbastanza buoni, consiglio le polpette di gamberi e lemon grass e per amanti dello spicy il curry verde. A mezzogiorno menu a buffet per fr. 19, bibite escluse. Parcheggi nelle vicinanze, altrimenti autosilo Balestra.

Von Thai gekochtes Thai-Essen: Das ist das Wichtigste. . . . Wirklich super mit echten thailändischen Aromen. Nur eine Bemerkung: Wenn Sie eine kostenlose Vorspeise geben möchten, geben Sie nicht die gleiche, die der Gast bestellt hat, ich explodierte mit gebratenem Fisch! Sehr gut!
