Pantanal in Zürich

The restaurant is located directly in Zurich Zoo (on the left when you come in) and therefore offers a great opportunity to enjoy refreshments while visiting the zoo. The menu offers a varied selection. The restaurant is modern and attractive and offers enough space for groups and individuals. However, it can be very busy at lunchtime. The service in the restaurant is friendly. The prices in the restaurant are ok. The quality is average to ok. Although the restaurant is a good choice for a snack at the zoo, there is still room for improvement. Waiting times for food can sometimes be a bit long.

I really don't understand the fuss about veggie nuggets. None of the finicky children I was at the zoo with ever complained (on the contrary!). In addition, you don't notice the difference at all compared to the industrially processed meat-based nuggets. And the fact that veal sausages contain pork is really no news... I think the quality in the Pantanal-Resti is top notch for a visit to the zoo. But speaking of meat: I actually think it's a shame that the zoo restaurants in particular aren't completely vegetarian. Unfortunately, I'm not a veggie myself, so that's not my concern. Rather, they would be perfectly positioned to educate about the impact of excessive meat consumption on the climate and nature (keywords soy and rainforests?) and at the same time show that meat-free or even vegan dishes can be fun. Food for thought...? ;)

The nuggets with fries consist of breading and something vegetarian, but no chicken, The chicken went to the Wienerli for this, the chilli has coriander, for whatever reason, The veal bratwurst consists of veal and mock meat and the oil for the fries is so fresh that you can still have some in the evening. Simply underground!

Price performance is not right at all. Better to eat out before or after. It's outrageous what they charge for convenience food.

Waited 1.5 hours for the Zürigschnetzlet with a registered group. However, the canned food could not be defined. Mushrooms were found in the sauce. But meat was either not available or was completely overcooked into its individual parts. A pity. At least it was served hot and it was enough. That's why I'm fair enough to give it one star.

Big fight weekend. Unfortunately there is no flexibility when it comes to the side dishes for the standard menus. The service at the counter was unfriendly and almost no German was understood. No information that nuggets are vegetarian. The result was disappointed children. Prices high, quality average. Fries weren't fried long enough.

Literally nothing on the menu is available other than fries, nuggets and sausage.

I have to say that I am very surprised and disappointed at the price I had to pay for a raclette over a piece of bread. At 10.50 CHF for just a slice of bread and a pickle is far too expensive in my opinion. I find it unfortunate that such high prices are charged for a simple piece of bread and cheese!!

We had an evening tour of the zoo. It was a special atmosphere and interesting to be able to watch a few animals in the evening. The subsequent dinner (buffet) was very good and the staff was very friendly and motivated.

Dear zoo rental workers, there were few conditions in the restaurant that day. Only one cash register open! I'm wondering, with this rush of people, have you miscalculated or are you saving on staff, e.g. macdonals does that?! For 38 francs to enter and for which the tiger's enclosure was on the wall, etc. A lot of things are not accessible. I have to say it's a shame that you had to wait 1-2 hours in the restaurant for something to eat. Be it an ice cream meal or fries and sausage or something like that... so please in the future if prices per ticket are such a large crowd with children and families then please have enough staff!

Good selection for small and large appetites. Always very clean and well maintained on the terrace too.

Beware in case you suffer from food allergies - eg there is food (wienerli or fries) marked as gluten-free, but the staff uses the same utensils for everything. They used the same tools to load burgers and then put it into water with fries, or to turn the sausages, contaminating everything with gluten. Hygiene should take a look at them!

Good food, friendly staff and good ambience. Very good for families as it has a large, beautiful playground on site.

Price and performance are not right. Even for coffee and cake (the lemon cake is completely dry) you almost have to take out a small loan. Unfriendly staff don't say hello. Already at 10 a.m. (1 hour after opening) there are no more croissants.

Decent for a zoo self service. Had the 'Africa' peanut chicken with couscous which was decent. Lemon cake for dessert was ok. There's a nice park outside and lots of seating but gets crowded on weekend or holidays.

The same offer as in the Masoala Restaurant, but worse. Instead of the salad buffet, there is only pre-packaged salad in plastic, which seems like a mockery when the topic of the zoo is denouncing excessive plastic consumption and the negative impact on the environment. A children's plate is served in a ceramic bowl, which is somehow inappropriate because I can hardly put that in front of a 1-year-old child. The children's chairs are too low for the tables, let alone even dreaming of children's cutlery. The penne for the children wasn't great either. And there are no tablet carts either. When you're traveling alone with a stroller, it's a lot of juggling.

Despite being well decorated with many signs and decorations from the Brazilian Pantanal, the reference ends there. There is no Brazilian cuisine dish. Other than that, a regular restaurant.

“Warm” food is terrible, the children nuggets were so hard that child couldn’t eat them. The portion of nuggets and French fries costs chf15 - absolutely not worth it, one should rather bring some home-made healthy stuff… Salads are soaked in sauce (which may not be the one that a customer would pick up at first place). The playground is the best part of this place, however it is systematically overcrowded, as well as the restaurant (long queuing before being able to get anything…).

Good food and nice service. Very family friendly, lots of child seats, clean toilets BUT it would be nice to add some variety to the menu. We have had annual zoo tickets for years and have always chosen from the same menus. Some rotation in the offers would be great... The desserts are very tasty and very varied 👍☺️

Food ok for a zoo restaurant, but unfortunately not anymore! Are soy products really a good alternative to meat? The Zurich Zoo should be aware of the problem with soy cultivation. I think there are better vegan alternatives, even from regional production.

I'm trying really hard, but I just can't say much good about this restaurant. In general the food and drinks are overpriced. And if you then decide on the Angus beef burger, which was described as tasty. So you get a mud burger warmed in the oven with a few warmed fries that aren't even completely peeled. Ketchup and mayo cost extra and there are no napkins. All in all: REUDIG

Very friendly staff! Super organized so there aren't too long queues when queuing to order the menu. Food VERY GOOD, I'm not used to this quality of food from zoo restaurants. We eat here every time. Absolutely a recommendation. It also has a relatively large children's playground where the kids can let off steam. Excellent.

Very poor quality of food. I had Züri Gschnätzlets and they were inedible. The sauce is almost pure water. The worst Züri Gschnätzlets I have ever eaten.

Very nice day trip to Zurich to the zoo. It is recommended 👍It is a great, well-kept facility with lots of greenery and in "Africa" ​​with great attention to detail. However, you should be able to walk quite well, the zoo is located on the mountain and the paths are accordingly uphill and downhill... But you can also go a little bit with the "Zooexpress" 🚂🚃🚃 for a small fee to be driven to the zoo. However, most of it can only be reached on foot.

Das essen ist extrem Teuer. Der Koch sah überhauptnicht gepflegt aus und trug kein Haar netz. allgemein wirkt das ganze extrem unhygienisch.

Bei schönem Wetter empfiehlt sich die Terrasse für Gross und Klein, sogar auch für Gruppen dürfte das kein Problem sein.

I have never had such a bad meal as in this restaurant! We ate 2 Angus burgers - the meat was dry, the bread was old - and the whole plate was just carelessly prepared. The chef would probably have preferred it if he could sit at home on the couch in front of the TV! I know we didn't go to a star restaurant - but that shouldn't be an excuse for bad food. We also said it on the spot but nothing more than a “yes” came from it.

There were no people in line and the burger was still cold. I ordered a portion of chigen nugets with fries for my children, which they could share. I politely asked them if they could add one more instead of three instead of four. I was aware of a small surcharge, but I didn't understand 2.00 chf for a small nugget that wasn't bigger than 1 chf. I can still recommend this restaurant. I felt sick and had hair in my fries.

Μεγάλο και ευρύχωρο μέρος! Ιδανικό για οικογένεια, υπάρχει αρκετός χώρος για το καρότσι δίπλα στο τραπέζι. Αρκετά καλό φαγητό και χορταστικό , πήραμε ένα μέτριο πιάτο σαλάτας δίκης μας επιλογής και ένα νορμαλ πιάτο μακαρόνια με κιμά και μπορώ να πω πως σκάσαμε! Ήταν αρκετό φαγητό! Θα το προτείναμε σίγουρα σε φίλους!!!!Επίσης για τους λάτρεις της Μπύρας , θα προτείναμε αυτές τις φωτογραφίας!

Coffee was okay but our plum cake was still frozen inside. I asked a service staff member if they could warm it up but it he told us that he doesn't have time. If you are looking for overpriced cake and unfriendly staff this is your place to go.
