Peking Garden in Zürich

Food is good, recommend sas sweet and sour or teriyaki chicken. Service is good and quick. The spicy sauce on the side is great.

Crowded over lunch, nice servers. indestructible piece of duck was in my food that i spent 15 chewing on without any progress made.

Horror. At lunchtime we waited 40 minutes for food. 1 of 3 portions was brought and other 2 portions were brought 10 minutes later. We didn't even have time to eat anymore. Never again. Every time I asked, it always said 5 minutes. The people who came after us got their food before us. This is how patience runs out. Lunch takes 1 hour, of which we waited 45 minutes and took 10 minutes to get there. Really miserable. Portion sizes: Let's face it, the gentleman sitting next to us had a portion that was twice as big as ours. Food: was ok, not particularly good, but edible. Rice tends to dry out. We were given an iced tea as an apology, but that makes it less of an excuse. We haven't eaten lunch and have to work hungry.

I was at this restaurant today and there was a buffet. I filled my trays and went to the register to pay. The waitress (she had very short hair, I don't know her name) was arrogant WITHOUT RESPECT. I have paid and I receive a message that the payment has not been made. I checked my bank account and the payment was cleared. I show her and she tells me I have to pay again. (Of course I don't accept that) I HAVE NEVER HAD A WAITRESS LIKE THAT!! No disrespect, SHE IS REALLY NOT SUITABLE FOR THIS PROFESSION!!! I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS RESTORANT AGAIN!!!

A great Chinese restaurant, if you want to eat Asian food it is definitely a good choice for vegetarians too.

I will have to give it a 1 for service and 4 for the food. Staff: for 2 years now I come on and off for lunch. Has it never occurred to you to tell me that when I take over a certain amount of weight, I get a drink? I was disgusted when I realized that no one bothered to say anything. You really could and should have. Today, my food amounted 18.45 CHF. I honestly thought it was 18 CHF and up. When I saw the waitress charge me the outrageous amount for the bottle, and I asked her, she bluntly said 18.50 CHF. Food: overall not too bad. The fried rice and duck are very good.

I would like to give zero stars, the food and service there is so terrible. It was worth a try but unfortunately the price-performance ratio isn't right.

If you have only 30 mins for lunch, be rest assured that you will get your very delicious lunch. They are quite fast, the food is great.

Too Good To Go Order. It was more of a disappointment. 3/4 was rice and 1/4 vegetables. Unfortunately no animal proteins. Maybe I was unlucky, but at Peking Garden you would expect a bit of meat or fish. Pity!

Ordered food, then called and adjusted the order, when the food arrived it was a totally wrong order, this was reported back, they didn't believe it, they wanted a photo as proof, no problem... long story short, the delivery person picked up the food again , because the chef didn't think he had made a mistake, then they called again and claimed that after the chef had tasted the food returned 😷🤮 the order was correct. It wasn't but yes :)

The food is very tasty, provided you eat locally. We didn't always have such good experiences with delivery. But it's nice there and the price is quite good. The vegetables are not always completely cooked but are still very hard. It's most beautiful outside. Unfortunately there is no climate inside in summer - Chop Suey with Pulet - my absolute favorite dish there

I just wanted a portion of fried rice - without meat - to take away. Had to fill it at the buffet and paid CHF 13.90 for 400 grams of rice - sorry. But that is brazen and impudent. And the lady at the checkout was so unfriendly that you were happy to be able to leave quickly.

Service could be better. First we were brought the wrong thing and then we were asked about our order 3 times in a rather rude manner. The food was brought to us very quickly afterwards; you could tell that the vegetables weren't cooked through and the chicken definitely wasn't either. We then had to wait an extremely long time until we could pay, even though we had asked several times. You expect more from such a beautiful location…

Ordering was relatively easy but unfortunately I didn't get the food I ordered... twice. I was then too hungry and ate the second menu... The chicken cashew dish could be seasoned better and contain more cashews and fewer onions. Prices are ok, service still needs to be worked in!

Peking Garden next to Altstetten train station is THE Chinese restaurant for me. Authentically and simply furnished, the food is completely convincing. Top quality and at a price just outside Zurich is the first thing to beat. Bravo!

I ordered Peking duck, and as the name of the restaurant is, I imagined it to be delicious. However, it was HORRIBLE… The duck was still okay. The rice was very dry and tasted of nothing and had the consistency of plastic. The sauce that came with it wasn't tasty. However, I have to say that I took it take-away. For the price of 20Fr. I find the portion very small and since I didn't like it, I don't recommend it!

They saw a package of roast duck from PekingGartendan. The food was good but the sauce was like jelly. According to our taste, the sauce was not very good.

I actually love Beijing Garden, but this one… no. The filling of the spring rolls was a brown, mushy paste, and when I started eating the noodles I noticed that I was feeling sick because my stomach reacted very quickly. The service wasn't really good either, when my colleague asked if she could take her food with her, a box was simply put in front of her so that she packed it herself and was charged 1.- for that. At home I felt even worse and had to throw up and the other thing too. I called there and he said quite cheekily, “Madame, that’s not true, we sell 100 spring rolls a day if the doctor says it’s okay.” Sorry, but never again.

Worst Beijing Garden! First of all, I have to say that I have never seen such unfriendly employees in my life, which surprises me because service is important. Even though I always order the same food, the food is always different which doesn't make any sense to me. I gave you several chances, that was the last time. Other Peking Garden are 100 times better.

I have been to this restaurant a few times for lunch. They have a buffet and you can help yourself to the food you like and charge you 9.90. This is a good concept and should be ok. Now they have a restriction that it is only up to 450g and if you fill the provided bowls, then it is more than that and you must pay. This is not written on the board where the prices are so the very unfriendly lady at the cashiers desk, just says you need to pay more and weighs the bowl. Mine cost 13.90 instead!!! You either make a fix price and stick to it or just weigh all the time!!! I will never go there again as the food is mediocre at best and there are other, much better, alternatives nearby!!!

The golden-silver soup not only looked like a mush of water and starch or flour, it tasted like it too. The sauce on the satay skewers was also quite soggy. Papaya salad was super spicy (even though it wasn't marked on the menu at all), and charged 2 CHF more than what was advertised on the menu. Complaint acknowledged quite disinterestedly. As a European, I could probably cook Asian food better...

Good food, large portions and fair price performance. My recommendation is Chicken Kung Pao

Being from the States, I found Peking Garden to be a quaint restaurant serving familiar dishes that were delicious to eat. I actually visited Peking Garden twice during my brief stay in Switzerland and was happy both times.

Unfortunately only 3 of the duck were edible. The rest was actually just fat. The service is unfriendly and inattentive. Food is basically thrown on the table.

Ordered food, sauce was missing! Nobody answers the phone when you call and want to complain! Now we have to eat dry duck 😤😤😤

I was served 10 minutes before my friend's plate arrived. My food waited 10 minutes in front of me. That's probably the worst thing that can happen when you go eat with a friend. You are serving people, not animals. If the food isn't gonna be great at least make sure the service is. Plus the woman who came to me with the pos machine for payment was quite rude when I didn't give a tip. Once the payment got approved, she turned around and walked away without saying anything. Get your savoir vivre straight.

Eating cheap mono sodium glutamate. There were four of us there and no one liked it. The beef had hardly any meat on it, the mango juice was a canned drink with 25% mango and the rest sugar and preservatives. Never again.

Was the last time for me now!

Dishes can be hit or miss. Hard to go wrong with a sweet and sour chicken for instance but, on the other hand, the szechuan chicken (which doesn't have the benefit of being deep fried) was sub par and also not spicy at all (even for milder European pallets). This is more of a fast food place to grab a quick lunch rather than than a dine in restaurant.

I've been ordering beef satay for years and it's always been delicious. Last time I always got it spicy. I asked on the phone why? The answer was that the sauce was already made. If the recipe has been changed, you should also communicate it and declare that it is spicy! Not everyone can tolerate the spiciness! And less sauce means no more satay. A pity

I wasn't at all satisfied, the price was very good and the service was OK, the food wasn't okay and this was the second time. I thought the wonton sup was pretty good, so about 4 stars. However, the crispy chicken was a disaster 0 stars. I had the feeling it was made of a composite chicken with the feathers and bones still visible. The meat had no firmness or quality, I miss the love of cooking. People used to eat very well there. Better less for quality. For me the quality there is no longer right, I will look for another restaurant for dinner.

I often used to get a quick dinner to go here. Recently, the simple 10.00 flat rate menus from before no longer exist and billing is based on an incomprehensible logic. First it was said 'per bowl', then it was including the drink, then again by weight. At the checkout there was a surcharge for "without rice", but in the end the drink was no longer included or only with a minimum amount per bowl... The food was not only more expensive than before, but also not particularly good . It's a shame, from now on I'll be shopping somewhere else.

I was a guest today, I ordered rice with vegetables and eggs, what I got was a portion of rice and VERY few vegetables and eggs. I give it 4 stars to indicate that it's a good restaurant and I am willing to come back to. Ordered simple dishes: stir fried spicy lamb (comes with rice) and stir fried mixed vegetables plus a tea at a reasonable price of 33francs. Ingredients are fresh and very tasty. The lamb is very nicely cooked, not over cooked and not chewy. I couldn't finished everything and had enough for lunch tomorrow. It's good value restaurant in a very expensive city (compare to London) and this meal is back down to London price. Because of the price bracket it's in, please do not compare to the Michelin Star restaurant, it will be unfair. This should be treated as your normal equivalent of a good fish and chips shop around your home. You shouldn't make a special trip to visit but if you happen to be nearby and want a quick grab of fresh, fast Chinese food, then it won't go wrong. I must say it's too salty for me, but that's my fault as I normally eat very light and forgot to ask them to go easy on the salt. They got my feedback and were very accommodating and saying next time, as long as I ask to go light on the salt, they will for sure do it as requested. All in all, good for me to go back and try a couple more different dishes.
