The ambience is very nice, I can't judge the food because I got up and left because of the extremely unfriendly service. The gentleman at the entrance was very friendly, but the lady in the restaurant immediately made us get up and leave when we ordered.

Everything is good here. Through and through. Food is great, staff is friendly and observant, the place is charming, the location is perfext. Outdoor seating in summertime is unique. The place won multiple prices and they are all deserved. Probably one of the best places to go out in the entire Kanton Zug.

The “place to be” to meet all of Zug’s established, discreet (political) celebrities. The food is good, home-style. The portions are huge. Small portion here is as big as the normal portion elsewhere. Refreshing! It is often completely booked. But sometimes you can still get a seat at the bar. The service is attentive and quick. The food was very tasty. Prices are completely okay for the portion size. Thanks!

An interesting card that makes it difficult to decide. The starters, veal tartare and porcini mushroom soup: Very good. Unfortunately the entrecôte steak was destroyed by the chef. It seemed more boiled than fried and very “done” despite my medium request. Rather dry. The service politely apologized. Three stars for service and starters. I'm still not sure whether we should risk it again.

The food is good, the staff is exellent, prices are okay besides the water. They actually had pigeon on the menu.

Swiss food a bit expensive. Great location and the place is nice, but nothing special. It's strange that being so touristy they don't speak much English. But they are friendly, the Sicilian waiter served us and he was nice. We wouldn't repeat, they charge CHF 6.50 for a litre of tap water.

I was able to enjoy my big birthday at the Gasthaus Rathauskeller in Zug. Everything was just right. From the ambience to the reservation, service, food, drinks and surprise. A wonderful evening!!! Thanks!!! We look forward to the next visit. Highly, highly recommended!

Food great, service flop (except for a single waiter)

The food was quite good. Unfortunately they charged us a full price for an apetizer portion, and for 2 glasses of tap water they charged 10 CHF.. Make sure to check the bill before paying!

The choice on the menus makes it hard to decide! It may take longer until the favorite is found. Solution: Come back and choose another favorite!! Whatever the kitchen conjures up on the plate is served with a lot of attention and joy. Town hall cellar at its best!

The food was phenomenally good! From the pigeon to the beef tartare, everything was very tasty! Unfortunately, my beef tartare had tomatoes in it, which unfortunately didn't completely disappear even after I sent it back to the kitchen. In addition, the waitress didn't have a mask on the whole evening, which confused us all a bit. But the atmosphere and the food were great!

Located in the middle of the old town with a terrace on the car-free street. Interesting menu, you'll be spoiled for choice here! Baden asparagus, artichokes, scampi were a poem.

I've been to the Rathauskeller many times with friends - it's really a top address! The service is very courteous and competent, and the quality of the food is very high! It's always a pleasure for me to stop there and let myself be pampered :-) . I can recommend it unconditionally!

Schönes Restaurant mitten in der Altstadt. Freundlicher und schneller Service, sehr gutes Essen. Es ist nicht die billigste Option, aber auch nicht die teuerste. Würde wiederkommen.

Excellente adresse cachée dans la vieille ville. Nous avons été très agréable surpris par ce restaurant. Même en voulant manger léger je me suis régalé! L’artichaut en entrée et les fillets de Perche vapeur était déliceux et parfait pour avoir encore un peu de place pour l’exceptionnel lava cake. L’atmosphère du restaurant est plustot chic et chaleureuse.

Wer es echt klassisch- herzhaft mag dem sei dieses Lokale ans Herz gelegt! Wir essen oft und sehr gerne da!

Wir haben vor geschätzt 4/5 Jahren einmal ausgezeichnet gegessen im Rathauskeller. Seither erhalte ich in regelmässigen Abständen einen Newsletter. Ob ich den je bestellt habe, weiss ich natürlich nicht mehr. Dass ich jedoch die ganze Zeit verzweifelt versuche, ihn abzubestellen und trotzdem immer wieder Post bekomme, kann ich wirklich nicht verstehen. Meist funktioniert der Austragungslink nicht einmal oder der Austragversuch hat keinen Einfluss. m 19.5. habe ich dann entnervt angerufen und es wurde mir versprochen, dass es jetzt klappen sollte. Heute, am 4.6. erhalte ich schon wieder einen Newsletter. Da gebe ich doch gerne einfach einen Stern -- einen Minusstern -- und hoffe, es klappt jetzt. Habe mich nämlich heute zum x-ten Mal ausgetragen. Time will tell 😡

Das Local ist spitze einfach zu erreichen! Die gute Verkehrsanbindung macht eine Spritztour dorthin rasch möglich.Die Kellner sind jedes Mal überaus umgänglich und sehr verbindlich. Das macht mir und meinen Mann bei jedem Besuch vollends viel Freude.Das Lokal hat echt Potential mein nächstes Lieblingslokal zu werden.Probiert diese gute Küche, auf der Karte ist in der Richtlinie für jeden etwas dabei.

Klassisches oder, sollte ich sagen, klassisches Geschirr. Viele, viele Kalbswahlen und nach meinen Angaben die Standards der Nordschweiz. Erstklassiger Service, Wein usw. in einem 600 Jahre alten Gebäude! Jedes Einzelteil, das ich hatte, war ausgezeichnet.

One of those wonderful places where you can feel confident of a great meal --- whatever is on the menu. Consequently its a delight to go and just let them decide your menu. Ask no questions -- you won't be disappointed.We prefer eating downstairs -- less formal but that's personal.

Seit langer Zeit wieder mal im Rathauskeller. Das Ambiente mit der Weihnachtsdeko ist heimelig und sehr angenehm. Das Essen ist super fein. Perfekt gewürzt und schön arrangiert. Die Bedienung, Markus, ist freundlich, sehr zuvorkommend, und speditiv. So will man bedient werden. Da fühlt man sich wohl. Vielen Dank und Kompliment an die Küche. Bis bald.

Das Essen war qualitativ sehr gut. Wir hatten sowohl Gerichte von der Saisonkarte (Wild und Plize) als auch Klassiker. Alles war sehr gut zubereitet. Hervorzuheben ist aber der außergewöhnlich nette und zuvorkommende Service. Das hat den Abend wirklich besonders gemacht.

Atemberaubend schönes Restaurant! Insbesondere die Zunftstube - diese muss man einfach als bezaubernd bezeichnen! Im historischen Teil der Stadt Zug gelegen, lässt dieses Gastronomietempel keine Wünsche offen. Das Essen ist einfach wunderbar, die Weine exzellent und die Bedienung sehr charmant und äusserst liebenswürdig. Immer wieder gerne und unbedingt empfehlenswert!

Great traditional Swiss lunch in the heart of the old town. Good service and food, a must try the geschnetzeltes with Rösti and the cordon Blue

We came here impromptu and were given a seat outside with the glorious weather. Ordered the salmon tartar to start with and they were excellent! For mains, we had the shrimp pasta and beef steak pasta, have to say the pasta were freshly made and aldente- love them to bits! Would highly recommend!

OK, die Sonne schien, aber der Wind wehte und die Tische waren draußen. Aber dies ist ein gutes Restaurant der Spitzenklasse und das Essen ist gut präsentiert und preislich wie alle Speisen in Zug - hoch. Der Service war hervorragend und die Atmosphäre gut. Gut positioniert, gute Auswahl an Essen, aber keine große Speisekarte.

wenn du das aussergewöhnliche suchst liegst du hier richtig. die küche ist nicht zu übertreffen, lokaliät und personal passt hervorragend zu dieser hohen qualität.

Very nice restaurant in Zug. Staff was super friendly and attentive. I think it is a good place for business lunch as it has good atmosphere. The price range is high so it might not be for everyone but good for some occasions. I will come back again and recommend anyone to give it a try.

Pleasant evening, with work colleagues, at this rather lovely restaurant. Good choice with an extensive menu.

We chose some of the local food with a tweak and really enjoyed our dishes. The food was fresh, with some special veggies and the meat tasty. Our waitress was extremely charming, competent and engaging. The asparagus-tuna-lentil appetizer and the strawberry dessert with kurkuma ice cream were particularly mouth watering!

The restaurant is near the clock tower in the city centre. The food is quite tasty and the service here is amazing.

Samstag: Mittagessen. Leider hat der Rathauskeller sehr viel von seinem früheren Glanz verloren. Uns erwartete ein unbeholfener Service, der ungehalten reagierte, als man eine 5er Reservation mit 6 Leuten antrat (ein Gedeck musste am 6er Tisch beigefügt werden), sehr lange Wartezeiten (fast eine Stunde zwischen Vorspeise und Hauptgang!), Nasenrümpfen, als das 10 jährige Kind eine dem Service wohl zu edle Bestellung machte und ein Essen, welches den hohen Preisen nicht entsprach. Sehr rahmige Hummerspeise, versalzene und überbratene Rösti und langweilige Sauce auf dem Salat. Früher war ein Besuch im Rathauskeller ein Genuss und ein Erlebnis, gestern war er eine (teure) Enttäuschung für die ganze Familie. Hoffentlich war dies ein einmaliger Ausrutscher. Es bleibt sonst zu hoffen, dass Service und Küche sich wieder an die wunderschönen Räumlichkeiten und die historische Lage anpassen können.

Unkomplizierter und dennoch professioneller Service gepaart mit wunderbarem Essen und guten Weinen. Die Karten sind nicht unnötig lang. Ihre Inhalte zeugen von Kreativität und den Anspruch auf Qualität. Gekonnt gekocht und serviert. Bravo!

Nach ein paar Monaten Pause war ich mal wieder mit einem Geschäftspartner zu Gast im Rathauskeller. Auch diesmal haben uns die Qualität der Speisen und der tolle Service im rustikal-eleganten Ambiente überzeugt. Dass ein Kellner sich so gut auf die unterschiedlichen Bedürfnisse und Charaktere seiner Gäste einstellen kann, ist selten. Auch diesmal habe ich das Cordon Bleu vom Muotathaler Kalb mit Spinatwurzelragout genossen: zartes, sehr aromatrisches Fleisch, dünn paniert und lecker gefüllt. Die Portion ist nicht groß, aber reicht völlig. Dass Spinat so delikat sein kann, ist mir auch nach wiederholtem Genuss dieses Gerichts ein Rätsel. Die Küche ist wirklich ausgezeichnet. Da wundert es nicht, dass auch Basics wie ein gemischter Salat mit Qualität und Raffinesse überzeugen. Wissen sollten Gäste, dass im Thekenbereich geraucht werden darf. Davon bekommt man im Restaurant aber nichts mit. Auch wenn ich mich wiederhole: Reservierung ist auch unter der Woche empfohlen.

Die mässige Küche hält dem Preisniveau in keiner Weise stand.

Essen mit 18 Personen konnten wir in einer schönen historischen Atmosphäre durch führen. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet.

Schnelle und freundliche Bedienung. Der Salat mit italienischem Dressing war sehr frisch. Das zarte Swiss Prime Rinds Entercote schmeckte vorzüglich und war eine Gaumenfreude! Reservation ist zu empfehlen, da das Restaurant sehr gut besucht ist.
