Never eaten such strange, tasteless pizza! Shape and size far from a pizza. You had to look for tomato sauce in the pizza with a magnifying glass. Mozzarella had a strange taste. All in all, very bad pizzas!

We had booked for 10 people, everything was good in that regard. We had reserved for 5:30 p.m. the drinks arrived 35 minutes later, no apology from the waitress, order taken on paper 3 drinks were wrong, after a good 20 additional minutes of waiting the boss came to see us to find out if everyone was okay, we point out to him that we would like to have the dishes because we are expected at 8 p.m. at the theater, he tells us "we had to tell the waitress" what we had done..... Eat at the slingshot in 20 minutes, 2 courses was necessary, we still had to wait..... Service and catering is no longer like it used to be... It's a shame and to top it all off, the boss didn't even apologize, didn't make any gesture, instead criticized his employee.... The young lady apologized, saying that there were only 2 of her....

Rustic but cozy restaurant. Hosts are very friendly. The menu is varied. I think it's good that there's something from the hosts' homeland on the menu. Gordon bleu is highly recommended. And you can't find good French fries everywhere. But these were “top”! Price-performance is absolutely good.

I have never been disappointed!!! The food is incredibly tasty, great performance!!! You have to order at least +1 of the sauces extra, way too good!! Salads fresh and varied. Very friendly and the prices are top notch.

Great place to have a delicious meal. There is enough space to come with friends and colleagues or celebrate an anniversary. The menu features 4 cuisines (Swiss, Ukrainian, Georgian and Italian). During the day there are quick menus, you can have a delicious, freshly prepared lunch at an affordable price. The portions are sufficient to fill you up; if you can’t eat it, you can ask to take it with you. I really liked the Khachapuri, Deruny with truffle sauce, and grilled eggplant. It’s hard to choose something because I want to try many different dishes from the menu. Next time I plan to come and try dumplings (Warenyky) with veal liver and Wiener schnitzel. The only downside is that there is no menu in English. the restaurant re-opened with new owners only in August and they said that they had not yet managed to do it, but they would improve. update 11.01.24 There is a menu in English. Raclette and fondue have been added to the menu. Grilled vegetables and shrimp are simply delicious.

I had ordered food online (not the first time) and the driver arrived on time, but he was on the phone while handing it to me. No hello, no goodbye and no thanks for the tip. When we got to the apartment, we were looking forward to the food because it was really good last time, but unfortunately what we got was anything but good. -The chicken wings children's portion was good (free syrup was missing 😂) -Potatoes that you could order separately were 3 pieces, last time the portion was twice as big (they were still okay) -Pizza was greasy, the bottom of the box was soggy and totally stuck to the pizza -then the cordonbleu, what can I say: the cheese was rancid, sour and not edible at all, let my family try it and confirmed it too. I then called the restaurant and made the criticism, whereupon I was shouted at at a volume that was not acceptable at all, but that wasn't even the worst! There was an apology, no concession, but he laughed at me with his wife and replied that our food always tastes the same, the quality is good. Expected me to bring him the food back to the restaurant and tell me to order from another restaurant next time and hung up the phone! I will definitely never order from them again nor will I recommend them to others, which I unfortunately did last time! Even if, as you say, you “have 30 years of experience in your job,” I would recommend that you deal with criticism better and see the customer as “king” and not approach it that way. All the best anyway I would like to comment on something about your answer: it doesn't matter whether I eat at your restaurant or whether I order the food to be taken home from you, it comes from your kitchen!! The food wasn't free, was it? I paid enough for it!!

Disastrous food delivery very disappointing

Very tasty cheese fondue, waiter/ress to come and nice. Ice cream is also very tasty and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. We'll come back to eat cheese fondue.

So good *Läberli with Röschti* I've never eaten it like that before. Sose was so fine and the *Läberli* was so soft. I highly recommend it. Music accompaniment and service were of course as expected. Nice reception. Please reserve in advance.

A very nice restaurant. Homely atmosphere, chicly decorated and lounge music. The starter salad is large and the two salad dressings stand out from the standard. The food all looks very good and the portions are pleasantly large.

I visited the "Alexander" restaurant at the Messeplaz yesterday with my daughter. We enjoyed the dinner very much. There we tasted delicious dumplings and ordered a cocktail. I was impressed by the atmosphere of this establishment: very beautiful and at the same time cozy and warm. I have no idea how it works, but at the same time you feel like you are in a cool restaurant and visiting your grandmother... Maybe because the menu of Ukrainian cuisine is written in a language that I understand, or because the waitress switched to Ukrainian as soon as she saw it , that we were interested in dumplings, or because the chef approaches all the guests to talk personally and it is very nice. As for the food, it was so tasty that you can say: "Tastes like home." I wish the restaurant prosperity, and I urge my compatriots to visit it at least once. This is really the place where you forget that you are not in the Motherland.

We recently had dinner with the family at Alexander Restaurant. And we were absolutely satisfied with the price/performance ratio. The food was very tasty and the portions are good. There was also a small amuse bouche. The only negative point was that the children had to wait over an hour for their food, even though there weren't too many people in the restaurant. In general, I would have one more tip for the owners: I would like to put more on the “Ukraine” menu – from the rustic interior design, to the music in the background, to the food (after all, as far as I know, they are the only restaurant with Ukrainian food in Basel ). And if necessary, shorten the very extensive menu a little. Thanks for the hospitality and goodbye!

Delicious original ukrainian dishes

The new menu with a mix of swiss and ukrainian dishes is an absolute hit. You need to come and try at least one item on the ukrainian page!

The best types of salad are delicious, the steak is the best, and the salmon is delicious. I congratulate the family on their delicious restaurant.

The cordon bleu "sucked" and simply wasn't worth 40 francs!!!! worth for 350g. The previous host made a better cordonbleu (also 350g) for around 27-30 francs. The service doesn't speak German, when I asked for the ketchup bottle and I only got a blob of ketchup in a bowl, the waitress looked at me confused and said "yes, this ketchup is from a bottle" and ran away. At the beginning I didn't know that the management of the restaurant had changed and so I asked if you could no longer put together your Cordonbleu yourself, whereupon the waitress stammered a bit and then called the landlord who simply read the menu to me instead of answering my questions. If you run a restaurant at this level, you should already be able to speak German in order to be able to answer customers' questions. The fries were good. The vegetables were drowned in oil which to be honest didn't smell fresh anymore. The bread on the table was definitely from at least the day before if not older. For a Saturday evening there was practically no customers, which should probably give the landlord something to think about because in the times of the previous landlord the restaurant was packed on Saturday evenings. Prices in general are outrageous at this restaurant under new management. 98 francs for 1kg of pork cordonbleu and almost 130 francs for a 1kg of veal cordonbleu are absolutely bottomless and cheeky. If you have too much money and not enough taste buds, I recommend this restaurant. But if you knew the restaurant under the old management and are hoping for similarly good food, I recommend you don't go because it's just a shame what happened to this restaurant.

It's a warm summer evening and the two of you want nothing more than a cozy dinner. So we sat down at a table for 4 outside in this restaurant. It wasn't long before we were energetically asked by a very unfriendly staff member to move to a table for two. This despite the fact that there were other guests in the same formation and the restaurant was almost empty. Unfortunately we weren't happy at this table and as we were about to leave, a waiter came and told us that we were free to choose our seat. Unfortunately we did this. The Cordon Bleu I ordered for over 30 francs was the worst thing I've ever seen. Apart from that the meat was still half raw. I'll add another photo so you can see what I mean from the look alone. We used to eat there all the time with the old owner and about two weeks ago again... Unfortunately it was very disappointing. The service tried very hard, but on a tip. Serving mayonnaise and ketchup in a bowl was just a stupid answer.. the prices were exorbitant for the food that was on the plate, it was very carelessly presented, a few fries in a basket and meat on a huge plate I was told there was no other supplement. So very disappointing but my husband gave an extra 20 euros tip By the way, the bill was over 90 francs I'm sorry but the manager should look for another job

Unfortunately, the stay in the Alexander restaurant was not very convincing. The food wasn't bad, but the service was even worse. Cutting back on staff led to just as bad an experience. Not recommended, thank you.

Nice little restaurant close to Messeplatz tram stop and directly beside Hotel Alexander. Nice local Swiss food and the cordon bleu was very good! Worth a try if you are nearby.

I ordered the classic Swiss dish, but I couldn't eat it. It was bad. I only felt sorry for the francs I paid. I gave 33 francs on top. The atmosphere was good. We chose it because it was close to the hotel, but it made me sad. Go and decide what you want to eat. The waiter was very sweet, but when he realized that we were Turkish, he tried to say things in Turkish.

Have ordered from Emil Frey Dreispitz several times, the menu is always changing, I will order again tomorrow. Always on time, hot, good and friendly delivery service. One of the most reliable in the Basel area.

Of course the Cordon Bleu is the TOP recommendation. I put together a great version myself. Unfortunately the chili was forgotten. But they then brought me some chili oil upon request. Next time (there will certainly be) it will definitely work.

We ordered two Senner Rösti via Just Eat. Order came on time, friendly driver. The food was a huge disappointment. Rösti itself tasteless and partially burnt, fried egg was also very seared, simple boiled ham and several slices of cheese on top. Totally loveless and hardly edible. I only ate both hash browns and threw away the rest. This was by far the worst delivery meal we have ever had in Basel.

A very great place to stay, alone or with friends. With a beer or fine food. The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant and the service is very good 👍. The public transport connection is optimal. The price-performance ratio is tip top. Big compliment to the boss.

Nice restaurant, reception was friendly. Cheese fondue came after a very long wait, even though the rest was almost empty (only 2 other tables were occupied). The cheese fondue was by far the worst of my life. It was extremely liquid, had lots of little dots in it (I don't know how to describe it), was very sour and had a strong taste of its own, almost as if it had "expired". We had to reorder the “not fresh” bread by waving/calling because the waitress never came past our tables again. We were unable to extinguish the rechaud because there was no extinguishing cover next to it. We then managed to put out the flames with a twist, without any accident/injury and without any fire. After waiting for 20 minutes, we put the money down and left. Unfortunately I can't recommend the rest. either for great service or for a good cheese fondue, sorry. In my opinion, the “chef” lacks the necessary experience/training and love for the food. The service lacks empathy and routine. Never showing up afterwards and only having to worry about the 2 tables near the buffet area is, along with the bad cheese fondue, an absolute “no-go”. Conclusion: once and never again

I ordered Sennen Rösti and was a bit surprised. For CHF 17.50 that is very, very meager. It didn't fill me up and unfortunately the food was completely over salted. I also ordered a garlic bread which wasn't really edible either. Dealing with dissatisfied customers is also very disappointing. First and last time for me and wouldn't recommend it

Really tasty Swiss food, definitely would recommend the cordon bleu.

The food is good, and what's special here is the opportunity to put together your own cordon bleu. You can order a cheap menu at lunchtime. You can sit outside or inside where the ambience has a lot of atmosphere. The service is quick and professional makes a great effort. What I didn't like were the toilets; they should be checked more often because there was no toilet paper left.

After 10 days of vacation, we just simple and comfort food and we got a delicious meal.
