A place where even the Brussels sprouts deserve a standing ovation and the entrecôte makes you whisper love poems.

Came here as a group of 30. The table arrangement was super cramped upstairs. Guess this was meant for 10 people where the 30 of us were accommodated. The restaurant can claim a paucity of space due to the Fastnacht rush but the onus of delibering the experience and not stuffing food into our gullet lies with the restaurant. Food was no great shakes - This restaurant had no butter to serve along with its bread. No vinegar, pesto, no olive oil etc. Just Pain bread! The soup that I was served was indecipherable - just could not figure out the ingredients. If you are someone who values food more than the experience of having it in old buildings, with staff that cannot communicate in english, then this is not your kind of place. This may be the Fastnacht effect but I am never coming to this place again.

We spent a very pleasant New Year's Eve at one of the Restaurant's tables. The food was of high quality and the flavors were there! Several servers made the effort to speak to us in French. The atmosphere was warm and the room very well decorated. We will come back.

My wife and I had dinner here during a 2 day stay in Basel and it was 10/10. The building is historic and very neat, the service was friendly and fast and we even had a nice chat with the owner. Most importantly the food was excellent- highly recommend the fondue bacchus.

Was chosen by my colleagues while visiting Basel. Serves traditional Swiss food, we had the pumpkin soup, beef, fondue. Desserts are also worth trying.

The tartare was below expectations. No toast, no butter, I didn't find any hazelnut granola. Carelessly done. Thinly sliced ​​cheese. The monkfish saltimbocca was lukewarm but good. The barley risotto was ok. Service very friendly.

This restaurant is the place to go to if you want to enjoy some very good Swiss food. The place is very beautiful and the furniture is mainly made of wood, which adds a really nice touch to the decoration. The food is excellent, the veal Zürich style and röstis were delicious and the service was really nice.

Excellent service from a really warm and friendly staff. The starters (carpaccio octopus and tartare) were near perfection. I’m only giving four stars, not because our mains were bad, but because our expectations were so high due to the starters that it was hard to maintain throughout on the same level. Highly recommended restaurant, though.

Went for lunch as a couple and it was OK. The service made an effort, the soup was OK. The meat was a little dry, risotto was very good and the tomatoes were slightly burnt. It didn't spark any enthusiasm, but overall we were satisfied.

We have been to the Safran Zunft several times to eat a Fondue Bacchus - this, as well as the French fries served as a side dish, were very tasty. Alternatively, the service staff was kind enough to bring rice as a side dish. The restaurant is beautifully designed and easily accessible due to its central location. The staff was also very friendly.

After many years we were back in Basel and again in the Safran Guild. The roasted lettuce soup was unusual for us and a pleasant surprise. We were also very happy with the Chateaubriand. The meat was fried exactly as we wished and some rarely served pieces of vegetables served as a side dish. The French fries were also of high quality, which is unfortunately not the case everywhere. The service employee carried out her work professionally and with a sense of humor. Over time, the restaurant filled to capacity, which increased the noise level. We recommend making a reservation in good time and will choose the Safran Zunft again on our next stay in Basel.

In our opinion, the last visit was disappointing. We were here for a company dinner. Chateaubriand was supposed to be medium-rare, but was served well-cooked. Some mushrooms in the risotto were burnt. When this was pointed out, we were treated very rudely by the service that evening. But an apology would have been enough. I expect more from one of the most renowned restaurants in Basel, which served excellent cuisine when I was a child.

We ate Fondue Bacchus, it was very, very tasty... If you want to eat Fondue Bacchus you should reserve it the day before... The staff was great. Friendly, helpful and accommodating... The restaurant is less than a minute's walk from the tram stop... It was such a beautiful evening in the Safran Zunft restaurant...

Very nice establishment. Very friendly and professional staff, speaking French. I recommend the four-course menu with the matching wine supplement. The different dishes are very well presented and generous. The chefs are artists, aided by the cooks and impeccable service. I highly recommend.

Just a tremendous place to eat. Such off the path type tastes that warrant a couple hours of your time. Be gracious. They are not a large operation. And their English is not perfect. But better than my German French or Italian. Their were some Santa Barbara peeps here which made the evening even more fun.

There were three of us and the food tasted really good. The starter was very good, for the main course the three of us ordered Chateau Briand, which unfortunately was for one person or a maximum of 2 people. In terms of taste, it was a delight. But the worst was the Somelier, I don't know anything about wine myself, but even I know that wine belongs in the glass and not on the table. First we had a Marloc from 2019 and then we wanted a French wine because we didn't get it. When we asked, we got another Marloc. It's best to fire the Somelier and hire me, because I can do what he can do with a little more decency and attention. Price at 412.- was to be expected. Food top, service flop

We had booked a 4-course menu with wine accompaniment in this house. The food was really fine. A big thank you to the kitchen. Well done. The starters were of exquisite quality. But the main course was really amazing. Two microscopic pieces of meat draped with a hint of vegetables which equated to about 17 calories. The dessert was delicious, it would be best served with espresso spoons so that the proportions were correct. The wine pairing, which we paid extra for, was a very friendly waitress who read us the label from the wine bottle. We could have done that ourselves. The sommelier was busy chatting at the neighboring tables. Personal conclusion: 250 francs, which we would have been better off giving to a charitable organization. It doesn't have to be Chef Ruedi's portion from Gasthof Bären, but getting up from the table and still feeling very hungry isn't really what we expected for this hefty price (with a small beer, a Prosecco and a bottle of water). had. A pity.

Unfortunately I didn't capture the food - shortly after the long closure I was a guest at the Safran Zunft for the first time. Used the delivery service on our anniversary :-) The service and the food were just great. Quickly “warmed up” and top quality. Now that everything is closed, that was really a highlight. Da wir mit unseren Kids den Hochzeitstag nicht im Restaurant feiern konnten, entschieden wir uns für das Home Delivery der Saffere. Mit Zoom waren wir miteinander verbunden und zudem konnten die Kleinsten noch dabei sein.Das Essen war sehr schön präsentiert in umweltfreundlichem Karton. Die Vorspeien mundeten (Lachs, gebackene Randen, Nüsslisalat) hervorragend. Wir waren eher skeptisch, ein Chateaubriand zu bestellen. Das Resultat hat aber unsere Erwartungen übertroffen. Jedes bestellte Dessert war vorzüglich. Unserem Grosskind schmeckte das Kindermenu sehr.Wir können den Home Delivery Service der Saffere wärmstens empfehlen.

We used home delivery for Christmas because we wanted something specifically fine food - and we weren't disappointed. Super-fine food, delivered very friendly (and on time). The three-course menu for us and the Cordon Bleu for Junior were excellent. It comes in eco-friendly packaging with simple heating instructions. Da zur Zeit alle Restaurants in Basel geschlossen sind, entschieden wir uns für das Home Delivery der Safran-Zunft. Es hat sich gelohnt! Die Auswahl an Vor- und Nachspeisen ist gross und das gelieferte Essen ausgezeichnet. Praktisch und umweltfreundlich verpackt werden die Speisen ohne Zusatzkosten pünktlich nach Hause geliefert. Die Anleitung ist einfach und auch für Laien gut verständlich. Wenn man sich daran hält, gelingen die Speisen perfekt. Das Chateaubriand bei 170 ° während 30 Min. im Backofen war ein Gedicht! Alles war einfach köstlich: Suppe, Salat Fleisch und Beilagen. Weil die Portionen gut berechnet sind, verzichteten wir auf eine Nachspeise. Kurz: Das Home Delivery der Safran-Zunft kann man nur weiter empfehlen.

We used the current home delivery offer twice and were thrilled in both cases. The first time we had the Chateaubriand. We were particularly pleased that the instructions for finishing cooking in the oven were perfect and that we were able to enjoy our meat medium-rare (information on other degrees of doneness is also available). The second time we had the cordon bleu and the bratwurst with hash browns and onion sauce. The sauces were a highlight in both orders and the salads, soups and desserts also impressed us. The small selection of wines includes high quality products. In these difficult times it is nice to have such an offer available and we would like to thank you very much for the very friendly service.

Leider mussten wir bei allen 3 Gängen sehr lange warten (jeweils > 30 Min.). Von der Präsentation der Teller hatten wir mehr erwartet. Das Essen war auch nichts Spezielles. Der Service war zum Teil sehr freundlich, jedoch wurden unsere bestellten Tees vergessen.

Da ein Restaurant-Besuch aktuell nicht möglich ist, haben wir uns für eine Heimlieferung der Safran Zunft entschieden.Die Gerichte wurden super freundlich und pünktlich geliefert und waren in sehr schönen Gefässen verpackt.Für jedes Gericht lagen genaue Zubereitungs-Beschreibung bei, welche keine Fragen offen liessen.Und jetzt zum Wichtigsten: wie immer waren auch diesmal alle Gerichte wirklich ausgezeichnet. Personnel très attentionné, repas délicieux, inventif, une bonne cave. Le personnel a su nous conseiller des vins pour accompagner des mets délicieux. Ayant réservé en précisant que c'était pour un anniversaire, un apéritif nous a été offert, la table était mise avec un ruban "bon anniversaire" et le personnel ainsi que le patron nous ont présenté leurs voeux ! tellement d'attention fait chaud au coeur. De plus, le menu était excellent et les vins qui nous ont été recommandés étaient parfaits. Tarif très corrects. Nous y reviendrons volontiers et le recommandons avec plaisir

Wir hatten das Chateaubriand. Es war unglaublich lecker. Der Service war sehr gut und wir würden gerne wieder dort hin gehen.

Obwohl das Gebäude "erst" 1902 erbaut wurde, fühlt man sich im Mittelalter. Das Restaurant hat verschiedene Stuben und eine Galerie. Für grössere Anlässe steht im 1. Stock ein sehr schöner Saal oder auch kleinere Säle zur Verfügung. Es gibt ein Tagesangebot und eine Karte (Mittag oder Abend), vorwiegend traditionelle, regionale Küche. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet und auch die passenden Weine, waren sehr gut. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist ausgezeichnet.

Das Lokal ist immer fein und wir hatten da einen schönen Abend.Dekos auf den Tischen und im gesamten Lokal ist anständig und geschmackvoll. Das Wc ist stets sauber und allem in allem vermittelt das Lokal einen charmanten Eindruck. Gerne komme ich da mit meinen Verwandten her und kann mich darauf verlassen meisterhaft bedient zu werden.Mutter und ich waren zu zusammen dort und jeder von uns hat etwas anderes gegessen ich für meinen Teil kann verlauten lassen, ich habe von jedem einen Tacken gekostet und es war alles gut.

Realmente disfrutamos nuestra cena, comenzando con los cócteles Prosecco. Todos fuimos a comer solo los ciervos y el bacalao que estaban deliciosos. Los postres fantásticos a seguir no decepcionaron. Buen servicio Si un poco lento para los estándares del Reino Unido. Mientras que la habitación en la que estábamos estaba bien, pensamos que podríamos estar en el gran escenario como se muestra en la publicación de Tripadvisor.

C'est dommage car c'était très bon et le personnel était très sympathique mais nous n'étions pas dans les jolies salles car c'était les répétitions pour le carnaval. Il aurait fallu prévenir. De plus nous entendions les répétitions, très jolies, mais ne pouvions y assister. Donc c'est dommage.

Heute war ich oben im grossen Saal an einem Apero. Ich fand es Schade, dass man weiter hinten keine Häppchen bekam und dass das Servicepersonal kein Deutsch verstand. Die Häppchen die man bekam waren gut gemacht Ich komme vielleicht wieder Fabian 😌

Ottimo ristorante nel centro storico di Basilea, attaccato alla bellissima piazza del Mercato, arredato in uno stile “classico” locale. Il ristorante è al piano terra, mentre al secondo piano dispone anche di una grande sala per banchetti dove gli ospiti possono deliziarsi all’interno di un meraviglioso spazio decorato alla maniera d’altri tempi. La cucina offre una discreta, ma molto interessante, scelta di piatti tipici di qualità, e (nel nostro caso c’era anche) una rassegna gastronomica di stagione. La carta dei vini è ampia e offre anche una scelta di ottimi produttori locali. Il servizio è impeccabile: cortese, preciso e attento. Ristorante vivamente consigliato.

Für uns hat alles gestimmt. Die Lokation ist schlicht aber elegant. Das Essen war einfach hervorragend 😀 Ja man muss wohl etwas in die 👛 greifen aber so was weiß man ja bevor man an so einem Ort zum essen geht. Dafür darf man sich dann aber auch Mal schick anziehen, ohne sich overdress zu führen 👔👗. Ist ja auch nicht alltäglich so ein essen. Für uns bleibt dieser Abend einfach nur als sehr gelungen in Erinnerung. Auch der Kellner hat sich sehr viel Mühe gegeben und waren trotz vieler Gäste immer professionelle und freundlich. 👍 Wir werden es nur weiter empfehlen.

Die Speisen sind ausgezeichnet und die Teller hübsch angerichtet. Der freundliche Service rasch. Empfehlenswert ist das Fondue Bacchus mit seinen wunderbaren Saucen.

Die Professionalität der Kellner sind wahrlich beeindruckend. Ich fand das Angebot ausgesprochen sympathisch. Die Deko auf den Tischen und im gesamten Lokal ist vertretbar und geschmackvoll. Das Bad ist immerzu sauber und allem in allem vermittelt das Lokal einen charmanten Eindruck. Ich kann behaupten, bis jetzt hat uns noch nix frustriert! Es war jedes Mal eine gute Erfahrung in meinem Mund.

Ein schönes, altes Lokal, wo man eigentlich gut isst. Aber bei unseren Hirsch-Entrecôtes war das eine dünn und durchgebraten und bei beiden Tellern fehlte die Sosse. Von Rosenkohl hatte es drei Blättchen auf jedem Teller. Ganze Röschen hätten uns besser geschmeckt. Ich kriegte nochmals einen neuen Teller - mit gutem Fleisch. Leider wurde die Beilage dann erst 10 Min später serviert. Als Wiedergutmachung für die Fehler kriegten wir netterweise einen Kaffee und Schnaps offeriert. Aber auch der Schnaps hat den Weg nicht bis zu uns gefunden... Die Bedienung war freundlich, aber für so ein Restaurant ist zu vieles falsch gelaufen. Gehobene Preisklasse für eher kleine Portionen.

Das Haus hat Geschichte und man isst eigentlich in einem Museum. Absolut tolle Location, tolles Essen (auch bei einer Gesellschaft von mehr als 100 Personen!!!), freundlicher und aufmerksamer Service - es hat alles gepasst - absolut empfehlenswert!

Das Restaurant ist nach wie vor schön anzusehen. Aber für den Standart, welches es sein will, passt der Service nicht. Wir hatten Rehrücken bestellt. Geschmacklich OK. Die Beilagen sehr gut. Aber jetzt kommt das Minus: uns wurden auf den Tisch diverse Schälchen mit den Beilagen gestellt, daneben die Platte mit dem geschnittenen Rehrücken, welcher auf der Platte sehr verloren und nicht schön anzusehen wirkte. Da fehlten die Beilagen AUF der Platte. Das gibt ein Bild. Die Kellnerin wünschte uns guten Appetit und von da an war alles Selbstbedienung. Das Essen, Wein, Wasser. Die Bedienung war erst wieder beim Bezahlen gesehen. Wenn d'Saffere ein besseres Lokal sein soll, dann passt das gar nicht. Leider wurde ich schon mal bei ihnen entäuscht, daher wars das für mich.

Wunderschönes Restaurant und hervorragender Service. Das Mittagsmenü war ausgezeichnet! Wir kommen gerne bald wider.

Gemäss meiner Einschätzung gehört die Safranzunft zur Basler Spitzengastronomie! Alle Speisen und Getränke waren Top und der Service könnte nicht besser sein

Vorspeise: Kürbisravioli mit Wildschwein Trockenflleisch und Steinpilzsause Menu: Rehrücken und dazu ein Malbec

The building itself is an unusual setting being and old church Overall a good experience in a unusual building/chapel, staff can't do enough to please,good choice of dishes and food served hot and good portion sizes, good idea to book table downstairs if you have mobility issues as some tables up stairs on balcony

Wir waren in der Safran Zunft um ein Fondue Baccus zu essen. Das Restaurant hatte ein Spezialangebot - Vorspeise und Hauptspeise (plus noch ein Dessert) nach Wahl zu einem tollen Preis. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet - und die Bedienung sehr zuvorkommend. Wir kommen ganz sicher wieder.
