Restaurant China Bowl in Winterthur

The service is very fast. We ate fried noodles with vegetables. Everything was perfect except the chicken was bland. That's why four, otherwise everything is fine!

We ate HotPot with 6 people. It was very tasty and more than enough to eat. Note: HotPot must be reserved 24 hours in advance.

Very good offer and food, hardly any waiting time for the ordered food. Great, we'll be back

It's a bit tight to sit here. There's a lot of draft at the window seat. The food takes some getting used to!!!

Versatile, lots of space, decent prices, very good food and large portions

I won't criticize the standard of the food, but I was eating at this restaurant yesterday and something very strange and abnormal happened to me. The lady at the checkout was dishonest and thinks she's smart. First I saw people buying food in front of the restaurant because they have a stall and it's Albani Fest. She demands 2 chf to go to the toilet. I ordered two meals and then asked for a glass of tap water which was charged at 1 CHF, which is common in Switzerland. I wanted a 2nd glass because the dish was too salty, I had asked the lady at the checkout (an older lady) for a glass of tap water with ice cubes. She brings me a glass without ice, I confirm that I want a glass with ice. She answers me, there is no ice cube (then behind her the waitress at the bar fills ice cubes into the glasses) I told her I asked for a drink with ice cubes and you have the ice cubes, the waitress behind you is putting. She answers me, it's about the ice cubes, if you want cold water, buy mineral water. I replied to her, you bring me back what I ordered, she said to me, there is more and it is disrespectful. I took up my business (without finishing eating), I paid and left the restaurant. I asked her to look at the ice cream maker, she looked and it was full. She answers me now there are ice cubes!! while the machine is automatic in continuous production. I called him dishonest because that's how you treat customers in a restaurant and I won't go there again and hope the owner reads this comment.

Very long waiting time. Way too many peanuts in the dish. Inattentive, unfriendly waitress. Expensive desserts.

We went there for my daughter's 18th birthday. I even made sure that they knew about it online... I don't expect a free meal or a free desert but when you give a customer the option to inform you about the event, i do expect at least some kind of decoration. It's those little things that make you special. Food, service and atmosphere were 5 Stars.

Friendly and fast staff. We eat well. We love walking and then finishing by eating here.

The friendly and competent greeting and taking the order was a good start. What followed then contradicted a promising excerpt from the advertising: “All dishes are brought fresh to the table with great attention to detail.” Both dishes (duck and beef) were served within 5-6 minutes of ordering, which really surprised us. Possible explanation: Could have been produced beforehand and kept warm in a water bath... With emphasis on warm - both dishes were not really hot. In the case of beef, one of the pieces of meat was stringy and gristly (inedible) and the rest tended to be spongy and therefore unattractive. The sweet and sour sauce was unbalanced sweet. The carrot pieces in the fried rice were not even half cooked. Unfortunately, the duck wasn't convincing either. Since we no longer saw the competent gentleman who greeted us after taking our order and we didn't want to bother the rather insecure young man who served and cleared away with our impressions, we chose this route. Conclusion: No attention to detail. A real shame.

Quality has deteriorated greatly..duck not crispy, fried noodles oversalted with tough beef, goyoza not fried..take away 7.- tip given..couldn't eat 2/3 of the food..very unfortunate

Went to the China Bowl on Sunday with 7 people. The ambience was nice, but despite a reservation we sat down at a table that was far too small. The service was attentive, but the dishes came far too quickly one after the other that it was practically stressful, and my starter was forgotten and had to be reordered. Five people were more or less happy with the meal, the crispy baked duck with a fine orange sauce was cold and dry when served, the sauce consisted of two slices of orange... My fried noodles were also nothing special, although they were much tastier than the duck. Certainly not the Chinese I trust and will no longer visit the China Bowl. I'm also used to being served a saki (rice wine) at the end of the meal at Chinese restaurants. When I asked, I only received an incomprehensible look and the words: “No, definitely not! Have to pay!” 407.- sFr. are ok but definitely not in the China Bowl anymore. Would recommend staying away.

The seating was too narrow for seven people, the sweet and sour was good and so was the spring roll. When we asked at the end if they offered anything, because we also had 400.-Fr. After we paid, she looked at us almost horrified.

The food is nicely decorated but tastes bad. Example fried rice: very bland, very little/almost no additions such as corn, peas. Crispy duck is dry and hasn't been crispy for too long. Price/performance not good expensive, bad food.

Location and price/performance match. Recommended. You can also eat outside when the weather is good. Service was quick and nice, but not always understood everything completely correctly. Nevertheless: We would love to come back.👍

I've been there twice and was positively impressed on both visits. The service is very warm and friendly. The food is very good! The waiting time is also quite okay. I really like to come back.

I can only rate the restaurant based on a one-time visit. First of all: the service was friendly. There's nothing to complain about there. However, I didn't like the food at all. I ordered the lunch menu and although it was good value for money, the food was extremely salty (and I usually like salty food). I also tried my companion's plate and their food was quite ok, just run-of-the-mill Chinese food. I thought maybe I was just unlucky that day, but now I see from some other reviews that oversalted food seems to happen every now and then. I probably won't be able to revise my rating because, all in all, the restaurant doesn't appeal to me enough to make me want to try it again.

No meat declaration... After asking, I was told that chicken meat was from Brazil and beef was from Switzerland. That's why I ordered a meal with beef, which was so tough that I couldn't break up the large pieces with a spoon and fork. Never again!

Please learn German or at least English, I call and talk to a woman, after 10 seconds she acts as if she can't hear me anymore and hangs up. Doesn't pick up the phone after that.

We stood at the counter for 6-7 minutes and couldn't order. The waitresses were busy and walking around, they kept ensuring us that someone will take our order soon. After about 7 minutes I got enough and we left. Either tell me that you don't have capacity or send someone to take my order while I'm standing at the counter. I find it weird that a customer is waving around their money and the business doesn't care to take it. 😃 (28th may, around 19:00)

The service was subpar. We waited more than an hour to be able to order dessert and drinks and were left completely alone. During that time, couples sat down next to us twice and left because they weren't served.

Very slow service in restaurant on a night that wasn’t particularly busy. Waitress somehow tried to blame us for ordering a soup appetizer as the reason the mains took over an hour. I have a feeling they just forgot, because they were too busy tending to just-eat deliveries.

A large open beer, Szechuan tofu and fried rice together for 33 francs is too expensive. The Szechuan tasted like a flavor enhancer. Ambiance in the basement is poor, everything is very clean, service is friendly and prompt. I can't recommend it because of the poor price/performance.

Clean Chinese restaurant with good food and friendly staff. Beef a bit tough.

I'm a bit torn about the restaurant. We had two lunch menus with a starter and a main course. In terms of price, at over 20 francs, it is in the upper price segment of a classic Swiss pub over lunchtime. The two mini spring rolls as a starter were very small. The “spicy duck” in the bowl tasted very good and was also quite spicy. However, I found the Veggie Poke Bowl a bit overpriced. Both come with white rice; fried costs 3 francs extra. I get a fork and a spoon. If you're going to go western, then please also have a knife with which you could cut the somewhat large pieces of duck meat. However, the very friendly and attentive staff do not ask you whether you would like chopsticks. I don't know why the duck comes in the bowl. OK. the restaurant is called “China Bowl”! The tea is served in a pretty set for 6 francs. In terms of content, however, it is no more than a good cup. All in all, recommended. Especially since the furnishings are modern and really well done, the food is good and the staff are friendly and serve quickly.

The restaurant exudes extraordinary charm as soon as you enter. The loving and harmonious decoration as well as Asian music create a wonderful ambience. There is also a large selection of food (including many vegetarian dishes), which is also very tasty in terms of taste. The experience is rounded off by excellent and extremely friendly service. In summary, an absolute recommendation on every level, we will definitely come back.

The miso soup was extremely salty, the main course was greasy and, without exaggeration, my colleague's food tasted like vomit. We couldn't finish anything because of that... The service was friendly.

The China Bowl is a beautifully decorated restaurant (quite the opposite of what was there before). The service is friendly and attentive, the food is very good and the prices are moderate. A clear recommendation!

I've never been there before, but I've ordered from China Bowl several times. The food is really extremely tasty, I've never been disappointed and I soon tried the whole range! Fast delivery, the food is always warm and the description of the menu is simply brilliant. Keep it up! :)

A worse restaurant visit like this was a very, very long time ago. The starter was cold. The plates of the main course dripped and smeared all around. The service was poor except for the gentleman. The toilet is also borderline and this immediately after opening. We won't eat here anymore.

We ordered our lunch, beef fried rice, mixed salad, children's enu and spring rolls. The meat was raw! It wasn't cooked properly, the salad was really limp and brown and there was HAIR in the salad and the fried rice!!! Very bad and would never go there again!

The fried noodles with green onions and bean sprouts were completely raw, and it felt like they were thrown in randomly and not tasty. Pearl milk tea doesn’t taste good. Neither the pearls nor the milk are satisfactory.

I was there for dinner last week and had the sweet and sour chicken dish. I quickly realized that the sauce was much too sour. The whole meal didn't taste good. The next day I had severe stomach pain. My mouth burned and I got lots of sore blisters. It was very unpleasant and painful...it wasn't the first time I ate badly. I will never go there again. Very nice Chinese restaurant in the heart of the old town of Winterthur with an outdoor area, moderate prices e.g. (fried noodles with vegetables 15 Fr) if I remember correctly, service very friendly, large menu with a lot of choice of dishes.

We were there today and at first I was skeptical about the recessions. But we were very positively surprised. The service was very, very friendly and polite. We got the food very quickly. The menu was varied and the food was presented very nicely and tasty.

Very wide selection of food, from Chinese to Vietnamese to Thai. Very friendly and professional service staff, they respond to individual requests. Food tasted very good, of course prepared a little less spicy for European tastes. A good price-performance ratio for Switzerland. The two of us paid around CHF 90 for a starter and two drinks.
