The chocolate mousse in a chocolate coating disguised as a cake is awesome. Worth a visit just for that alone.

Had to wait 20 minutes several times for coffee, had left dark edges for too long, had been a customer for years.

I bought some chocolate bars and we loved it. The shop staff was kind to open the door for me with a baby stroller. I will come back to taste also cakes next time when I come to Winterthur.

Simply a disgrace! My girlfriend and I came at 3 p.m. and sat outside. Since I didn't know whether we would be served or not, I went inside to order. The woman at the counter rudely told me that I should order outside from the service person. She saw us, but skillfully ignored us. When another table asked for the bill, the waitress rolled her eyes. What's that supposed to mean? Is this how you treat customers? In the end we were NOT served for a full 40 minutes. Because of this, we went to another café, which treated us very respectfully.

I was there on a Saturday afternoon and wanted to order a hot chocolate for myself and my girlfriend. It took 15 minutes until we could order. After 25 minutes we noticed that other tables that came after us had received their orders, but we were still waiting. We then spoke to the service staff and they said that our order had been lost. It can happen, but in a reputable company and for the prices you should at least be offered something or some other offer on how you could make things right... but nothing! If you have to wait almost 3/4 hours and get a sorry, it's just very disappointing. I have been working in the catering industry for over 10 years and I know that things like this can happen, but my goal and that of the company, no matter which one I have been in, would be to make the guest happy and to find a solution for such cases .

Service was super friendly. The croissants were very buttery and the cappuccino was nice and foamy.

Unfortunately our visit was very disappointing. The sun is shining & a nice cooling down was just perfect. Luckily we still had space outside. A waiter who took drinks at the table next to us & 2 other guests, then the waiter disappeared into the cafe. Some time later the waiter came with the orders, but he served the drinks to the wrong tables, which was noticed by the guests. Other guests took a seat and were able to place their order, which we still had to wait for. The waiter came out and served the guests, before the waiter could come in with more orders I called out... Sorry, can we also order... he waved his hand and confirmed... I'll be there immediately. It wasn't immediately but soon. Finally place the order after a while 1×Cola Zero 1×Latte Machiatto 🤣 our order also went to other guests which we all found very confusing, when the guests mentioned it wasn't their order the waiter took the Zero Cola & Latte on the tablet & Asked the group who ordered it!!!! Hmmmm we raised our hands, thanked us for the 11min24 wait and went to a very nice, fast-served café. Thank you for showing us where we can no longer go. LG

Famous pastry shop in Wintherur (see the row of bicycles in front!), modern, even the sign says it's 80 years old, recently renovated, with very inviting windows, but frankly the taste is a little too fatty for Mediterranean taste, shovelfuls of butter everywhere. Prices not exaggerated for Switzerland

Not once, not three times, EVERY TIME we have to WAIT forever! And when you go in to order, you get cheeky answers from the staff & boss with a tone: “You should wait outside”. And then another 5.20 for a cold coffee... CIAO We as a company will definitely not be coming anymore. Was the last time

Make sure to order freshly squeezed orange juice. The waiter brings a small bottle of OJ (forgot the brand, was it Michel?). I said “freshly squeezed.” Condescending answer: "It's freshly squeezed. And now I've already opened it!" Put the bottle down and calculate it.

I've been coming by almost every Friday for years for my large cappuccino and croissants or cake. Service has been extremely slow for some time now (often 15 minutes for the order to be taken and then another 15 minutes for the coffee to arrive). The service staff are nice, but seem a bit overwhelmed - even if there aren't many people. This only used to happen when it was full inside and outside. This is much better at the branch on Marktgasse (you can order at the cash register and it will then be served directly) - well-positioned and very friendly staff - a real pleasure. Prices in the highest range, but consistently good quality.

The milk coffee was watery and almost no milk foam. You have to be very careful when drinking so that you don't empty it on your clothes when the cup is full. At a price of CHF 6.90, expect better quality and also that you have learned how to prepare such coffees correctly (the team leader prepared them herself). The service from Mr. Brüschweiler was very nice and quick.

Even though Vollenweider has a well-known and good name, I had a rather disappointing experience there. I've had a much better latte macchiato in many other places (just milk foam from top to bottom). The cake was also very dry. The service was friendly, but a bit overwhelmed, despite the lack of customers.

Food and drinks were delicious. But we waited far too long for our order, even though the café was practically empty. In addition, part of our order was forgotten. You have to pay directly for pastries that you choose at the counter and eat in the café and also carry them to the table yourself. For these prices I don't think this is okay. Has slowed down a lot since last time.

Had toast with salad and chips. I can't recommend it, how do you think of serving toast with chips? Salad was already brown.

This location is one of the main branches of Vollendweider Chocolatier, but the quality of the service here has clearly deteriorated. You have to hope that you are served by the right person for both take-away and in-house. The service at the counter was irritable and unprofessional on some days. Recent Incident: Due to the lack of courteous service, they wanted to take a photo of the patisserie selection and send it quickly to receive instructions on what to buy. Instead of helping, you are promptly verbally attacked and told that you are not allowed to take photos in this store. However, this is the first time I've heard of this house rule since this store opened. It's also not the first time that employees have seen me taking photos of the products and I've never been stopped. Later, the head office asked for understanding for the affected employee and offered compensation. There is still no trace of this reparation to this day. Now Vollenweider is topping it all off by introducing exorbitant fees for shopping exchanges. Small and large bags now charge 0.30 and 0.50 respectively and these bags are anything but high quality. Just by touching it you can tell how thin the paper is. Apparently this measure serves environmental friendliness and sustainability. Sprüngli also claimed this and, after countless complaints, introduced a compromise that the bag would continue to be offered free of charge for purchases worth CHF 30 or more. In addition, the bags there are at least very robust. While they are introducing fees for inferior shopping bags and claiming to be environmentally friendly, plastic is still used in chocolate bars, for example, instead of using aluminum foil or other alternatives such as corn-based plastic, as others do. What also bothers me are the old facts that vanillin is still used in lemon cake, for example, and that prices have risen exorbitantly in recent years even without COVID. The whole concept needs to be revised. In defense I received the following statement: Vanillin, an artificial substance, is used because it supposedly produces a better taste than real vanilla... What else can you say about that?

The Cafi Vollenweider is a really cozy place to take a break. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, unfortunately the seating is far too narrow 🙉🙈 you feel very cramped. That's why only one star for the ambience. The rest is top, top quality.

Service underground. At the counter you are skillfully ignored for minutes. The service staff (there were two of them) preferred to clean the buffet and take orders in the cafe. In my opinion, this behavior is unacceptable at these prices.

The atmosphere is very welcoming .. all deserts are 10/10 American coffee and hit chocolate 10/10 Strongly recommended also there is a shopping area beside the coffee shop..

Expensive small tables complicated with getting things yourself and being served at the table

We stopped by in the morning for breakfast. The service was nice, the prices were ok. For late risers, breakfast is served until late afternoon. We had the pancakes with berries. These were good, but we would have expected more for the price. Either a larger portion or that the berries are fresh and not frozen. It can get pretty loud indoors because there are no acoustic elements to break the sound.

Waited a long time for the coffee. We then knew why. Stood on the counter to “cool down”. Price/performance at the highest limit.

There were only a few people in the café but the service staff was so busy with themselves that after waiting 15 minutes at the table I went to the counter to order a cappuccino. At first they didn't want to take the order. And then they didn't want to give me the cappuccino either. The whole situation was absolutely surreal, but the unkind tone that was used towards me was very real. Do I really have to put myself through something like that again? NO !

The atmosphere is very modern and nice. Just recently renovated. The concept of ordering and paying at the checkout is not so good because it would be nice to take a look at the menu when ordering. Prolongs the process. Therefore fewer stars. I know that weck glasses are very trendy, but I think they don't really fit with the overall picture. I also found the Birchermürsli to be very cold. As I said, that's my feeling. We will miss Ms. Schwarz dearly, but we still hope that we will see her again from time to time. All the best for your well-deserved retirement.

We wanted to go out for waffles with our children and arrived at 5 p.m. sharp. They said there were no more after 5 p.m. and they were treated quite unfriendly. The children were very sad! Won't come anymore

The food and drinks are expensive, but very nice. Unfortunately lately you have to wait a long time to be served, I have no idea if this is due to a lack of staff? (2021) I have corrected the review as they have more staff now and the service has really changed. The service has been quick for a long time now and it's very pleasant again. (Dec 2022)

Unfortunately I think the move and the redesign were a complete failure! The acoustics are so bad, you can barely have a conversation, it's so loud! Cold materials, but probably quick to clean, that is widespread in Switzerland instead of customer orientation! In addition, there is the new so-called concept that MSN has to order and pay at the counter: completely impersonal, far away from a nice coffee house culture and the prices are quite high! Plus only 2 breakfast options! Unfortunately people: we're not coming anymore!

I really enjoy coming over and the hot, dark chocolate is to die for, but you definitely still have potential when it comes to friendliness. Even if there aren't many people in the store, you often have to wait a long time to be served at the counter and unfortunately some seem quite stressed and short. A nice “Grüezi, I’m just chuming” would be a great start.

The food seemed good and the service was friendly. However, the service is not adapted to the customer. Here the company reflects an indifference towards the consumer, whereby the needs for me were not met enough! I won't visit again!

The products are simply great. But the lady with the black glasses... (could be the boss) is so unfriendly, short... "next one"... ruins everything. A smile, a thank you, a please... it would be so easy... The "simple" employees are super friendly, but the boss - I assume - sees the customers as her cash cows. The atmosphere she spreads with her presence is subterranean. Just sad. - Maybe she should do humor training and, above all, style training.

When I came in and wanted macarons on it, the employee rolled her eyes and said she hadn't gotten around to filling up the macarons yet. In a store like this, I expect friendly service from customers.

If the pastries are of good quality, however, the welcome needs to be reviewed! It's not the first time I've come and each time the salespeople fail to say hello, speak to you very curtly and are not helpful with those who don't speak the dialect (but I still make an effort to speak German) . There I have 1 pie and no cutlery to eat it. Okay, I come from a country where you eat with your hands, but all the same, with these prices I expect a friendly welcome and a little service. Strange feeling of disturbing... Too bad because it's really very good.

We wanted to have a quick coffee and something sweet, but we can't do it quickly. After 20 minutes we were able to order the coffee and the ice cream that came quickly. Good coffee and cakes. I'd recommend cold decaf cappuccino during hot summer days. (The coffee and cakes are good. I recommend the decaffeinated cappuccino when the weather is hot)

Here everyone can find something small or large, sweet or salty, cold or warm. I particularly like that you can find suggestions that are atypical for a café. For example, tarte flambée, Thaybowl or spaghetti carbonara, which were incredibly tasty but are not always on the menu.

Nice service. Outdoor seating equipped with fur and a cozy blanket. Small menu, but there are various treats from sweet to salty. Directly on the street (bus, bike, taxi)

Were there on Saturday for coffee and a snack. Unfortunately, the service was incredibly unfriendly and snippy. The quiche was bland and unseasoned. The waitress told us very abruptly that it was not possible to order the club sandwich that was on the menu. 15 minutes later we saw her serving exactly one at the next table.

Good quality that has its price

Every time you visit Winterthur, a detour to Vollenweider is a must. My personal highlight are the vanilla Bretzeli biscuits, but the macarons and the patisserie are also unbeatable.

Birchermüessli was fine… espresso was good… service too… I also ordered a 3dl multivitamin juice, CHF 10.-!!!! I was really shocked... I know that you pay a lot for a freshly pressed orange juice or multi-juice, but I find just 10.- a bottomless cheek!

Very nice staff and good location. You can drink your coffee (or in my case - punch) comfortably outside or inside and enjoy your day off. We recommend.

Good coffee, unfortunately the door was open all the time when the outside temperature was 8 degrees, not so comfortable.
