Restaurant Laufeneck in Basel

Was there for the first time. There was as much tartar as you wanted to eat. Service very attentive. Food very fine. Since we don't drink alcohol, there were also some without alcohol. That was great! Can highly recommend it.

The restaurant is always very busy, which is why a reservation is recommended. The host family is very accommodating and warm. The dishes are deliciously prepared and extremely appetizing. We haven't been asked about supplements anywhere for at least 10 years, which simply seems to be standard here. It was also one of our birthdays. The innkeeper noticed this and, without asking, brought a dessert plate with ice cream and fruit while singing “Happy Birthday”. Of course, demands and tastes are different, but this restaurant stands out very clearly from restaurants in the similar price segment. We'll definitely be back soon!

Beautiful food, excellent service by Kumar and others; had the meatloaf with mushroom sauce; asked for veggies instead of the Spezli - husband had the red Thai curry - both meals - highly recommend. Absolutely delicious!

Neighborhood pub with good, down-to-earth cuisine. Game meatloaf with spaetzli and red cabbage was great! Everything homemade, spaetzli + sauce supplement and price/performance very fair. All in all, definitely worth a visit!

We have eaten at the Laufeneck restaurant several times as a family and have been thrilled every time. The kitchen is top notch, the food tastes sensational and the ingredients are always fresh. The staff, the family that runs the restaurant, is extremely accommodating and always friendly. A visit is absolutely recommended!

It's a very good restaurant, nice people, and the food is freshly made. They come by to ask if you want more side dishes and the plates are warm so even slow eater have warm food till the end. A big compliment!!!!

This place was just round the corner of Basel Novotel City so we decided to try it out after seeing food reviews. We were very happy with our food and spoke to the very nice owner and his son who is from Sri Lanka. Very good Swiss food and service.

Very close to the SBB central train station. Excellent service. The prices are very consistent with the portions for being in Switzerland. I recommend taking advantage of the hunt or kill specials. I also recommend the typical meringue dessert with vanilla ice cream.

We are regular guests at Laufeneck. The various theme evenings (Indian buffet, game, butcher's tea, tartar or chateaubriand) are brilliant. Hospitality is very important here. Kumar and his team fulfill every wish. The food is very tasty and the menu is adapted to the current season. You will find something for every taste.

Due to Covid we had to move my birthday dinner home. We registered for the buffet. I quickly received an offer to pick up/alternative. Wow, the food was rich and super delicious - all the curries in their variety (fish, coriander, lentils, chicken...) Thank you very much and thumbs up and higher :-) You have 5 new regular guests!!!!

A cozy restaurant. When I was there, it was "game days"... I had a venison schnitzel with extra rösti... Fine, tiptop as the Swiss say, or even Switzerland lovers. Attentive and friendly staff. The price is typical for Switzerland. Price/performance but good......but I'll come back when I'm back in Basel....

Metzgete was ok, but the sauerkraut with Asian spices took some getting used to. Service prompt and attentive

I had a very good bratwurst in onion gravy with hash browns joined by a hefewezen. Dessert was an Espresso. All good. Service was friendly and quick. A very typical German-style gasthaus. A nice place to eat away from the tourists.

We were there for the first time yesterday. All 6 people were pleasantly surprised. The host and his sons greeted and served us very lovingly. The food came quickly and all of the food was delicious. Thank you very much for the lovely evening and your effort. That wasn't the last time. Will certainly be one of our favorite baizens in Basel.

Food and service are good. The picture is from somewhere else, at Laufeneck there is m.w. no lawn😏. There are always weekend events, e.g. 6/25/21 beefsteak tartar à discretion for around CHF 40.

Das Laufeneck ist eine Quartierbeiz, die äusserlich in die Jahre gekommen ist. Aber die Küche hat es in sich! Hammer! Wir haben Entrecôte, Spargeln und Kartoffeln gegessen von allerbesten Güte. Zartes Fleisch, köstlicher badischer Spargel, Bratkartoffeln die das Wasser im Munde zusammenlaufen lassen. Wow!
