I Have been getting my take away regularly here for the past 12 years! Be it sushi or a take away meal. The meals are freshly prepared daily with a simple choice of 3 different dishes daily. I have never been disappointed or had a bad meal once!! Very friendly family business! A fair price for a good fresh meal.

Sehr schade ist, dass das Pouletfleisch aus Brasilien importiert wird und nicht aus der Schweiz stammt (Siehe Webseite). Bei diesen Preisen dürfte man Schweizer Fleisch erwarten. EDIT: Das Fleisch ist nun neu aus Thailand. Macht es leider nicht besser.

Das Essen (Sushi Medium für 20CHF) war super lecker. Der Preis aus meiner Sicht für 8 Stück für CH-Verhältnisse auch in Ordnung. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich, auch wenn ich den Eindruck hatte, dass es sprachtechnisch eher schwierig war sich zu verständigen. Empfehlungen oder so gab es nicht, was vermutlich eben an der Sprachbarriere lag. Die mitgegebene Menge an Ingwer, Wasabi und Sojasauce empfand ich als an der unteren Grenze. Aber das Essen war wirklich extrem gut und das Verhältnis Reis/Fisch war für mich perfekt.

Für 20,00 CHF wieder einen Kombiteller. Die Gyoza waren leider vegetarisch (kein Hinweis), sonst hätte ich sie nicht genommen. Leider handwerklich nicht ganz perfekt, da sie aufgegangen sind. Bei dem Hühnchen dazu fehlte irgendwie eine Sauce. ich habe die Sojasoße von den Gyoza genommen, aber leider sehr wenig. Schade, dass es immer noch keine Sitzplätze hier gibt.

Wasabi is a small japanese restaurant in Basel, very well located and not far from the central railway station in Basel.All employees are Japanese which makes it even more authentic.We arrived about 10-15 min. before noon which was perfect. At noon the small restaurant becomes very crowded and you have to wait a bit (This is not a problem :) but if you're limited in time you might consider to come a bit early.)The staff is very friendly and the food is prepared very quickly.We had the mixed menu for 20.- CHF and a Japanese beer with green tea flavour. :)The food and the beer were super delicious! They even told us, that we can have more rice if we haven't enough. I'd totally recommend this place to anyone who loves japanese food or wants to try something different! I'll come back for sure.

Schmeckt fast wie zuhause, einfach 3x teurer, aber was soll's...Einzige Kritikpunkte: Man muss immer vorher schauen, ob das Bargeld reicht, da keine Karten akzeptiert werden. Und die Portionen sind halt auch eher für 50kg kleine Japaner gemacht. Hier wäre weniger Authentizität und eine Anpassung um 20% Volumen nach oben willkommen;)

Da ich schon einige male selber in Japan war, kann ich das Wasabi als authentisch japanisch nur weiterempfehlen (es arbeiten auch nur Japaner dort). Für ein Geburtstagsfest haben wir auch schon eine Sushi/Sashimiplatte bestellt, ebenfalls tadellos. Was ich zu bemängeln habe ist, dass die Portionen einen tick grösser sein dürften (Preislich können die Boxen natürllich nicht mit denen in Japan mithalten aber das ist schon meckern auf hohen Niveau). Klare Empfehlung.

The other Japanese's in town don't employ Japanese chefs and offer the menu options that students can prepare - udon, gyoza etc. Wasabi makes everything from scratch in front of you...The food is of limited selection and only takeaway (ok...you can eat in perched on one / two tiny tall tables...but don't expect to eat it). It is, however, real Japanese (yes, I have been there so can tell) and really yummy. The lunchtime bento comes in three options daily. At night they do sushi and sashimi...with a few variations. They also sell some Japanese cooking ingredients and kitchenware. They have a limited selection of drinks - not to my taste, but something for most people I am sure.I now eat there most days I am in town...try it out...

Switzerland being landlocked this doesn't really come as that much of a surprise. Sushi options in Basel: Noohn is really overpriced, the guys at the Marktplatz whose name escapse me - are better than Noohn, good enough to sit and eat and watch people walk by, fine in fact, but if you really want something that will make you smile then Wasabi is the real thing. I am glad someone else put a rating in for them - it's probably the only real sushi in Basel - Japanese run - the quality is always perfect, and consistently sliced into morsels that like in Goldilocks porridge story are never too big nor too small but just right. The rice is also always perfect, some sushi places serve you slightly mushy rice, or rice that has been stored in the fridge and a bit hard which is inexcusable. Not wasabi - with the Japanese eye for quality this place serves you perfection. Wasabi delivers the perfect marriage of rice and fish and charm. They also serve a couple different lunch menus - including one or two warm dishes - you can sit on a bench and eat there, but take note it's a take-away and not a restaurant. You can pop by here on the way home from the train station, good location, open till around 8pm. If you are in the coop across the road, don't get your sushi there, as if I need to tell you that, but cross over to Wasabi. Only but is you HAVE to pay in cash, they don't take any kind of card - credit or debit, so if you are hungry you will need to go hunt down some money before you can walk off with your beautiful meal. Prices are what you would pay for sushi - if you get the 60 Sfr deal, you will have more than enough for 3 or 2 really starving eaters.

We believe it is owned and managed by Japanese ex-pats, which distinguishes it from most of the Japanese-food restaurants we have met in the region.We've been going there for the past few years, getting their sushi to go. We came from San Francisco over a decade ago, and have been searching for good sushi in the area ever since. Wasabi has the best sushi in town. The sashimi is quite good, but you can tell the quality of the food by care and the quality of the preparation rice, oddly enough. They have quality ingredients throughout their sushi...not just the fish. They also have other Japanese dishes, like karaage, gyoza,teriyaki, tempura, etc., but we mainly go there for the sushi. The last time we went to Wasabi, they asked us if we wanted to eat our order "in", which meant actually eating it on benches within the small restaurant. The quality of the food makes it worthwhile to enjoy while eating on your lap!They do sell a limited quantity of Japanese staples (i.e. somen and sake) in the restaurant. And we noticed that they also give Japanese cooking (primarily sushi) classes. I am sure they do an excellent job, and we may partake at the next opportunity.We would encourage you, if you like real Japanese food, to try Wasabi.
