One of the best places in Zurich, Switzerland without a doubt. We came from London to look for fondue in Switzerland and this place didn’t disappoint! The waitress was so friendly and all staff are super welcoming. Highly recommend all to try the “truffle fondue” as it was absolutely delicious with a selection of red wine to compliment. The meat board was also a good addition to accompany the fondue and recommend too!

On my first day in Zurich, I happened to pass by and saw that this was the most recommended restaurant. I went in. I didn't have a reservation, but since I was the only person, I found a seat easily. Make sure to make a reservation, otherwise the wait will be long. The fondue and the wines on the menu were nice, the bread accompanying the fondue was delicious, the waiters were very helpful and did not leave the fondue without scraping the bottom, and this was truly a delicious event.

This restaurant is clearly aimed at tourists and it operates like a factory, churning through customers. Every guest has to order at least one main course no matter what, and they serve you quickly, trying to get you out as soon as you're finished. However, staff is kind, so it is not done in a rude way; it's just very clear that this is not the place where you'd go to enjoy a long and relaxing dinner. In other cities, it would be considered an expensive place (for example: 31 CHF for the basic fondue served only with bread, plus another 7 CHF for the potatoes, or 46 CHF for a cordon bleu), but for Zurich's old town, these are standard prices. The fondue, which is what they're famous for, is honestly good, especially if this is your first time trying it. Not the best I've had in my life, but definitely well-executed. Overall, my suggestion would be that if you're looking to try typical Swiss fondue and you're in the old town, this is one of the good options. If you're looking to eat anything else, there are better and cheaper options around.

We made a reservation a week in advance and when we went, we were warned that everyone had to sing different fondue, but this warning was only written in English on the menu. The atmosphere of the place was good, I'm sure the fondue tasted good too. But we did not eat here because it was a place trying to defraud tourists.

We had a reservation a week earlier and when we get there the waiter told us every person has to have one main course which we didn't know. Also I believe this rule only applies to tourists because this rule was written only in English and we could see lots of people sharing one meal.

Even though the place was historical, the waiters were grumpy and the restaurant had a heavy cheese smell.

There is a requirement of 1 main meal per person. So you can't make a fondue for 2 people. We ordered fondue and cheese bread. The flavors were not bad, but the manager's attitude was not good. We were greeted with a sullen face. I think this is a touristic place and attention should be paid to this situation. I won't go again. However, the waiters who took care of us were nice.

Not a huge fondue fan but wanted to try it before leaving Zurich. The cheese and spices smell is a bit overwhelming when you come into the restaurant, but you quickly become nose blind. Overall, we tried the fondue with bread and potatoes. Pretty tasty cheese. Also had some escargot 🐌 for appetizer which were *really* good. As with everything in Zurich, pretty expensive meal in general.

If I could give less than 1 star I would for this massive rip off place. £63 for a pot of cheese, bread potatoes and a few pickles. Must be at least 90% profit for this bunch of crooks.

The location is incredibly cozy, and from the outside it seems very small, but when you step inside it seems very large, cozy and with a homely atmosphere. The waiter was friendly and very attentive. The cheese fondue was good and creamy. Lovely place. Would definitely recommend. The price was on the high end, but fair for the experience.

We had for starter, mixed asparagus (white & green) with sauce hollandaise. Great dish with really fresh ingredients and mouth watering sauce. Then, a family style cheese fondue accompanied by the usual bread pieces. Fondue was nice, not the best I ever had. Also note that their fondue selection is pretty small. The restaurant has a big menu though with a great selection of dishes in addition to the fondues. The wine and beer list are average - not that many. The restaurant is crowded always as I gathered and it is better to make a reservation. It gets noisy and the smell of the melted cheese is all around the place. Last but not least expect to be very near to your neighboring table.

This is a famous cheese fondue shop! When you enter the shop, you can smell the cheese. Ask the staff to make the cheese crackers for you to eat at the end.

We experienced a friday dinner in this authentic vaudois restaurant specializing in chesse fondue. Warning: it is LOUD inside. Le Dézaley’s cheese fondue is one of the best in Zurich, simply delicious and reasonably priced. The meat fondue (fondue chinose) is not bad either, though you may get unlucky and the meat could be a little tough. The dried meat and bone marrow soup appetizers were very simple, though very delicious. The atmosphere and service are that of a typical tavern: quick and impersonal service in a loud, crowded cellar. While the prices are quite low for Zurich and the quick service and fondue are high points for those looking for a quick Swiss meal, the extremely loud roms filled with humid, stale air smelling of chesse is not for everyone, especially those looking for a calm or romantic dinner.

Fondue was great but I wouldn’t recommend the Züri gschnätzlets. There are better places for it

First of all I would like to say that I only wanted to write positive reviews about this restaurant. But when I saw the bill everything changed!As it is when you tell someone that he wants a portion for 3 people, we thought that the man was not even aware that such a large portion and in the end the Crowd knocked the man off his feet!!!I don't think this someone is serious. Next time ask how many portions it should be!!!But we will never go there again.

Went with a friend for truffle fondue. Our group was supposed be 4 people, but 2 of us cancelled last minute and it was not a problem. The waiters were friendly, the founde arrived quite fast. Fondue itself was really tasty. We were slightly disappointed with the amount of potatoes that we received, we were hoping to substitute the bread with potatoes but the portion was slightly too small. There was no music playing, which was not a problem for us. The only issue we had was that there was a big group of men dining right next to us. They were extremely loud, sometimes I couldn’t even hear my friend talk, even after asking them to keep it slightly more quiet. The waiter noticed that it bothered us, but they just made a small joke about ‘us wanting to cut their heads off’. It was humorous in the moment, but in the end nothing was done at the extremely loud environment. In retrospective, they could have suggested to move us to a table a bit further away, since we were only 2 and there were still available tables. That is why I leave 4 stars.

During this week I have dedicated myself to trying several restaurants that serve fondue and this restaurant definitely has no comparison with any, it is THE best fondue I have ever tried in my life. The food and service was great It was just very busy once the restaurant was full.

Tourist trap with assembly line processing. Extremely loud, echoing canteen atmosphere without style. When it comes to food, I can only comment on the fondue: any mix from the major distributor is better. High quality wine in ridiculous wine glasses. The Dézaley follows the trend of randomness in Niederdorf. Attract tourists from all over the world who come once. And never again. It's a shame, it was still an address from 20 years ago.

The service was excellent. We get the staff for the recommendation. He introduced cheese and beef fondue for 8 of us. The food is delicious and we all enjoy it much. Local said this the best restaurant for cheese fondue in Zurich.

It's not the cozy homely fondue room. Everything is timed very efficiently. The fondue was good, not necessarily cheap. Probably aimed more at business events and tourists. Nothing went wrong, but it wasn't FIGUGEGL like in the chalet. If you don't like fondue but rather meat, you shouldn't be bothered by the cheese taste.

The food and service itself was good. Unfortunately the store is too full. A few fewer tables would make it easier for guests to understand the person they are talking to. I understand that everyone has to make sales, but the noise level is very high for me. In any case, we have to thank our colleagues for trying to put us in a quieter place after our request.

Even though we didn't make a reservation for 7 people, they found a table for us and let us in. But be prepared for the smell of cheese inside. When you first enter, the smell will be so strong that you will want to leave the place, but I advise you not to leave without eating a traditional meal. We ate Cheese Fondue. It has a different taste. It looks a bit like nailing 😅 All 7 of us said we would sing one or two, but they said no. It's like we told one for every 2 people. They had a different working logic, but I recommend the place 😇

Probably the best fondue in the canton

Cheese fondue was mediocre, side dishes were much too small for the price, pieces of bread were cut too large. Dessert was very nice. Unfortunately, the service was completely rushed (it was also very full) but you shouldn't let the guest feel it. For example, the two bottles of wine were simply placed next to the table and not poured. We had to get up to order more bread because no one was coming and then we were yelled at. Zurich city center was packed and way too loud. The tables are very narrow and the chairs are uncomfortable. For a bowl with 2 ears of corn, 3 pickled gherkins and 4-5 pearl onions you pay 6 francs. A portion of fondue 30 etc. That would be okay if the ambience and service were right. Unfortunately neither one nor the other. I hope the service staff will at some point be relieved of their burden by having more colleagues.

Great fondue and sausage for lunch

We were here for lunch, we ordered a mushroom fondue (good, but I found it a bit high in alcohol, they must have put too much wine in it or something), a cordon bleu with chips (honestly €45 for a cordon bleu l 'I found it a little excessive, I don't know but the ones from the supermarket farmyard made at home were better), then we had the sausage with potatoes and this dish was really very good. Finally a soup of the day and as an appetizer sausages that look like salami. The waiter who served us was very kind and also spoke Italian. We spent around €200 in total. There were 5 of us and we shared all the food.

Very bad experience. Food is decent but the waiter was extremely rude. Always in a rush, making mistakes and yelling at us. Restaurant is full and the tables are very close to each other.

The fondue and the ice cream were good. The atmosphere was nice but overall it was a bit too loud and for a big company, or even a small one, there is not enough space which makes the whole experience a bit stressful. Normally they should remove some tables so everyone could have more space to enjoy the food. For these reasons I don't think i would go again.

Fondue is very delicate and the orientation was very nice and gives us a Christmas vibe. Not crowded, but there is enough space to enjoy our time there. The place is also beautifully located in the old town.

The cheese fondue was exceptionally good! Very airy with lots of flavor. An absolute recommendation! For the starter, the snails were a bit tough but ok. One point deducted for that. Service was very friendly and pleasant. We'd love to come back!

The fondue was very good, the service was friendly, but not particularly attentive because, among other things, the reorder of bread was forgotten. About the ambience: You just have to know that the Dézaley is totally touristy and everything runs like an assembly line. In addition, the price-performance ratio - I'm only talking about the fondue, there are other meals there - is not good. You would have had to pay extra for the potatoes and the few cucumbers, pearl onions and corn on the cob, which you also had to pay extra for, were carelessly prepared. The bread was rubbery instead of crispy. In the future we will go back to other, smaller fondue shops, of which there are a few in Zurich that also have an excellent fondue, where the potatoes are included in the price and there are also pineapples and pears - which you can also get extra have to pay, which is perfectly fine as long as they are not carelessly prepared and in small quantities.

Unfortunately I have to give 4 stars because the welcome is not very good. It is a factory and you forget that the customer is here to spend a pleasant moment, without stress and preferably with a smile from the staff. In addition, the prices are unjustified, as the photo shows with a sausage platter for 17 CHF for a few slices of meat. You can do better!

We were a group of 16 friends to share a fondue 🫕 Perfect setup for large groups with a friendly atmosphere. Great service despite a quite crowded place. Expensive but that’s Zurich

Nice place and average food. Cordon Blue 44 euros and fondue for one person with only bread 30. Prices quite in line with the city. Unkind waiter, asked for a water and two courses (seeing as it cost 7 francs at least he could have asked). We ask for the bill and once checked we ask to pay splitly and we are told that we should have asked for it first and that it could no longer be done. Oh well..... We give the card to pay with the debit card (specifying) and the payment makes an error and he gives it back to us saying "give me another one" to which I reply that we have always paid with this one in other restaurants and ask to try again. .. He puts it back and WITHOUT ASKING he selects credit card instead of debit card.... And he doesn't even say it. We realize this from the bank's message. We won't go back again

When in Switzerland definitely try Fondue. My husband and I split one portion of cheese fondue, followed by meat fondue. It was wonderful. When we arrived for our 6.30 dinner. It wasn't very full but people were turned away without reservations. By 6.45, the place was packed. Our waiter was charming and very accommodating to split one portion so we could do both cheese and meat fondue. Most people did cheese only near ys.

Very bad service and tasteful service! Even though they have fully forgot what dining is and are committed to extort money in a short amount of time (1:30h), when the time to get the bill comes, the waitress mentions we should ask for the bill at :36. Mind you, the reservation “theoretically” was until 00. So it ends up being a reservation for 1:15h. I think not even a business lunch lasts this little. The waitress was behaving like she couldn’t wait to leave, just rolling her eyes at every request, even for lowering the gas on the fondue. I do not recommend this place. You end up being rushed to leave earlier and mind you, the fondue it’s not that great.

My family wanted to try fondue. It was decent... I think someone who loves lots of cheese will probably enjoy this. French fries looked and tasted like the cheap frozen kind you make sure never to buy again from the grocery store. The server was not very friendly. We did not have a reservation which I would recommend.

We went to dinner at Dezaley on November 22, 2023. We had reservations at 7 p.m. The service was express (so much so that we felt "in a hurry" to dine, which was unpleasant). At 8 p.m., when we had taken starter/main course/dessert, and not yet finished, someone came and “kindly” asked us to vacate the table. At no time were we told that the reservation was for only 60 minutes. I've never seen this outside of... a fast food restaurant! Noud finished our dessert and the digestive that we had ordered and we left at 8:20 p.m., 1 hour and 20 minutes after our arrival, being insulted by the next customer because "we were 20 minutes late". Conclusion: the fondue was good, but the atmosphere and the service were deplorable, which ruined everything. They “overbook” their tables to accommodate as many people as possible. It's not a restaurant, it's a fast food restaurant.

Originally from Lausanne, I wanted to introduce friends to malakoffs and share a fondue. The fondue was good. On the other hand, the malakoffs disappointed me: instead of spherical donuts well garnished with cheese, we had practically empty fried sticks. Our server was very professional, but I found the staff who assigned us our table to be condescending and unfriendly.

Visited the restaurant for my birthday celebration. Arrived 20 minutes late due to traffic, but still managed to have fondue. However, the welcome was lacking, and we overheard staff discussing our tardiness. The potatoes order was insufficient for our group of four, and the service felt rushed, making us uncomfortable. When we requested the bill at 18:33 to finish our wine, the waitress was rude, insisting on an immediate bill because the table was needed in 12 minutes. It would have been better to decline our reservation than rush us. Despite spending 214 Swiss francs, we couldn't enjoy our experience. Disappointing treatment on a special occasion.

Great place for fondue. We tasted the traditional recipe (we asked potatoes in addition to bread). Delicious. Went then for fondue with truffles. Delicious too. Ended with vermicells, really special . Service is very fast and caring. Restaurant is very popular (must book), seats pretty packed and noisy, so not the best for a romantic dinner, but perfect for a fondue with friends.

Wow! What a place. This place was highly recommended to me. I phoned and there were no tables (heartbroken). So I went there and the atmosphere was electric but still no tables. Marcello (maître d') said as I was on my own there may be space in an hour. Well, I got a table and it did not disappoint. The whole fondue experience was incredible. The majesty and the taste. Pro: Characteristic place specializing in fondue. Excellent fondue, but I'm not an expert! I ate the truffle one and was satisfied. The service was fast and the waitress was able to recommend the wine. Cons: The place is too full of tables so it is very noisy. There were 10 of us, but our table was for 8 people, so we were a little tight. The service to pay was slow.

The atmosphere is full and beautiful. The staff were unbelievably amazing. From working to get us in without a reservation to their fast and expert table service. Their fondue is the best I've had. A really wonderful spot for any trip to Zurich!

We had a magical evening with very friendly and attentive service. A big compliment to Maxi who anticipated all of our wishes. He helped ensure that the evening will remain in our hearts forever.

Food was good. Yes, they tried to overcharge us for fondue, which I understand why. The server should be a little more vocal about explaining how it works, although we are in Zurich and people can afford it so I get it.
