I had a single person late lunch in fondue room. Staff was so kind and helpful, would definitely go again. Cheese fondue and wine was delicious.

Historic restaurant in the middle of the old town of Basel. In terms of the rooms and the history, highly recommended and definitely worth a visit! Food (home cooking) can be ordered in the lower area and fondue is served upstairs. We were there as a group and had the fondue. The cheese was very good, but the bread was unfortunately hard and dry. Service was prompt and polite.

Fondue spot; have to have it on the covered patio. I’d recommend 1 serving for 2 people as it’s a lot.

We fall in love with this cheese fondue,absolutely amazing.If you want to eat it you must go in another special room or outside in the garden. The dessert with chestnut cream was very delicious👌

Food was very good. We were searching for a restaurant with fondue and somehow we did not find too many. We spotted this one and it was very good. They are serving fondue only in the garden and in a separate room very nicely decorated. We had fondue, but also their special burger that had a mustard sauce, Guild's sausage with Rosti potatoes, Free-range butcher's pork cutlet with sambal garlic sauce Provençale also with Rosti potatoes - the sauce is very spicy and flat iron steak. Serving also very good.

If the lunch menu had been nicely presented (eye is included) it would be 4 stars. Tasted very fine

This eatery was cosy, intimate, with amazing service. It was rated as the best place to go for fondue, and they weren't wrong. It was a bit pricey, but as a one-off, it was worth it!

Traditional place, with good service and good food. The waitress who served us was very kind and explained everything we asked her. We had a vegetarian dish and a cordon bleu, both excellent; even the Catalan cream for dessert was quite good (and I'm Catalan, I know what I'm talking about 😆). I thought the price was quite high (CHF 101 for two courses, a dessert and two glasses of wine), but for a typical meal in the center of Basel it is a good choice.

Grear experience....good fondue and amazing service.

The extremely high price for a cheese fondue, which came with dry bread as a side dish (29 francs), was quite disappointing and astonishing. A white wine was recommended, which costs around 9 francs (bottle price around 5 francs). Since just bread wasn't enough for the fondue, there were around 8 potatoes for around 7 francs. I have never eaten such a bad and overpriced fondue.

Seen a lot of Switzerland, but ate real Swiss cheese fondue for the first time. I was a bit surprised by the simplicity of only eating white bread with it...

Really typical, traditional, simply Basel. We recommend.

January 6th, enjoy great veal lambs Löwenzorn with Röschti with my friends. You will then be surprised by m.3 royal pastries. To my great joy, I find a little lion in my path and receive a pretty golden lion brooch with glittering stones and a remaining voucher. A great idea. Nice, vylmool!

Cozy, characteristic and very large place with various rooms. I ate the fondue with potatoes and bread, although it is not one of my favorite dishes, I recognize the quality with which it was made. Not to mention the super friendly and helpful staff. We had various bags with us and they allowed us to leave them with them while we were visiting the city. A little expensive, in line with the prices. I advise!

We sat in the outside for fondue and were assigned one of the corner tables. The courtyard itself has a great atmosphere but unfortunately the heaters couldn't really reach us so we left completely frozen (visited the place mid December). Also, unfortunately the service was quite average. We had to ask multiple times for the same additional item we ordered earlier and even though we were always promised that they'd check on it, we never got an update. Then at a sudden, once our extra order just appeared. Maybe it was just one busy night, but honestly, the place didn't seem to be overcrowded. The fondue was great though! Loved the texture and taste so for that we'd definitely go back!

I want to congratulate the service which was really top notch! The room is magnificent! And the food is very good. Prices are clearly noted at the entrance so we had the choice to go or not. But we found it expensive for what we got on the plate. And there were very few vegetables accompanying the meal. Of course, it is in the old town of Basel which can perhaps explain the price...???

Do you want to be robbed blind? Then you are in the right place. For a piece of cheese and some bread you are going to be charged 88 euros. And 11 euros for water. But guess what the is no gold in it. Avoid at all costs!!

Horrible experience with the restaurant and the staff.. we were not given the menu and we were just suggested to go for the cheese fondue. And the taste was not very nice, when we complaint to the manager, he was very aggressive. Not worth your time and effort. It’s just a tourist trap!

There were 80 of us in a small space. The service staff couldn't serve to the back of the tables, we had to pass the plates to the back and the same thing when clearing them away. The noise level was almost unbearable. The food wasn't satisfactory either. The roast veal was dry, In the vegetarian version, the components didn't fit together. The rosehip tiramisu dessert was also very dry. We were all very disappointed. There were people there who didn't know the lion's rage, unfortunately not good advertising.

The fondue was delicious but very pricey for what you get.

This is a very local bar - lots of references to Fastnacht - no tourists in sight. Still felt comfortable. The food was typical Swiss. My Shepard’s pie could have had a little more meat and fewer potatoes but it was good. Beer was from the Uli Brewery in Klein Basel - very good.

It was okay, crazy busy but they seated us at a big round table with other guest. The wine selection by the glass was limited and they pushed for their 'new' house wine which was ok. Food was ok, nothing special.

Typical Swiss restaurant with wooden decor and a lovely courtyard (heated when weather is cold). Started my dinner with the delicious fondue. I tried the chicken plate and the chef was kind enough to replace the curry sauce with fungi sauce with rösti. Finished with the sweet chocolate volcano cake with amaretto ice cream. Very friendly service! Will be visiting again soon.

They have a balcony reserved for fondue, the atmosphere is very nice. You can easily eat 1 portion for 2 people.

The restaurant on Gemsberg – in the heart of Basel's Old Town – is steeped in tradition. Basel residents have been frequenting it since 1874. The menu includes traditional dishes such as meat loaf, roesti and cordon bleu. Business lunch? Wedding reception? Amazing Cheese Fonude! I went for a day trip to Basel and of course I cannot miss out on the Cheese Fondue! After a brief research, Löwenzorn is apparently pretty good for a cheese fondue and so I gave it a try! 5 out of 5 stars for the food. Cheese fondue as it should taste! Excellent! What made it even better was the service throughout the dining experience. Very awesome service experience. Would definitely come back again!

Nice ambience, varied menu and friendly service. You don't need anything more!

Great Burger made out of quality ingredients, served with fries, a small salad and pickeled cucumber. Wonderful courtyard with a sunsail to give shade to almost all tables. Only minute detail that bothered me, was that I had to stand up after sitting down and talk to the waitress to ask for water. Everything else was ok.

Very cool and traditional location in Basel! A huge party is always guaranteed at Carnival! The food otherwise is ok. However, the fondue was above average and if you enjoy it in the winter with patio heaters and wool blankets, the atmosphere is fantastic! We can definitely recommend it!

The restaurant is located in the heart of Basel in an old building. It's always very busy and the food is rather traditional and home-style. I had meatloaf and it was ok, but I was very disappointed with the hash browns on the side. The Rösti were not homemade and tasted like they came from the packaging from Coop, Migros or Denner.

Caters for large parties in very large rooms on ground and upper floor. Nice courtyard. Given how busy it was the service was fantastic!

As a group, we were there for a good, traditional meal, rich with several courses, and upon request, the meal was excellent. I would have welcomed it if someone had asked you if you wanted to be seated in the outside area of ​​the inner courtyard for dining, in the oppressively hot, humid weather it doesn't help to open the windows and doors. Well, that's just my purely subjective feeling, it could be that others don't see it as such a bad criticism, but you should also be honest with your feelings as a guest.

A great garden for some typical Swiss fare. We tried the fondue and it was yummy. The side dishes were tasty but miniscule. Service was great, prices are comparable to other restaurants in the centre of Old Town. Altogether- recommended!

I loved this little restaurant, the dishes were delicious! I had the lentil and shrimp salad, it was EXCELLENT! And what about the cheese fondue!!! Of course it's Switzerland so everything is expensive but it was really good! The pistachio gelato to finish in style! I recommend!!

The restaurant is located in one of the oldest areas of the city, very old architecture, built around 1400. Before that, there was an earthquake in 1356 that destroyed almost everything and most of the city was rebuilt. The food was plentiful and very tasty, including an artichoke pizza and the traditional Bretzel. 🤗 The service was very efficient and fast. The outdoor area is very large and very pleasant in the summer.
