Restaurant Löwen in Gonten

Very friendly service, delicious food!

It was our first time at the Gasthaus Löwen and, despite the very good reviews, we were disappointed. While looking for a restaurant with very good game, we came across this restaurant on the Zentralplus.ch website. The reviews were quite promising. The first surprise came when we ordered. It was actually not possible to order pasta or any other type of pasta for one of our children. Just spaetzli. The game terrine for the starter was good! Then three of the five dishes ordered were served. The remaining two dishes were only brought five minutes later. The venison schnitzel was tender and the sauce was good, even if it was more reminiscent of a pepper sauce. The game side dishes were okay. Unfortunately the venison pepper was a bit tough and dry. However, for the first time I was served venison pepper with a bone! Some of the spaetzli were still very doughy. At Schnipo, the pork schnitzel was quite tough and the breading was almost burnt. Nevertheless, we were not averse to having dessert. Unfortunately, after the main course had been cleared away, it took more than 40 minutes for the actually very nice waitress to come to our table to ask us if we would like another dessert. However, we politely declined. Considering that this restaurant was supposed to be known for game specialties, we were pretty disappointed all in all. A pity! ATTENTION: Cash payment is expected here. Card payment is not possible!

A very pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. The furnishings are also attractively designed. If you are looking for a beautiful inn with charm and friendly people, this is definitely the right place for you.

A very fine Gasthaus if one likes wild catch! Excellent cooking, friendly service, good wine selection! Strongly recommend if you are interested in Suisse cuisine!!
