Top restaurant with very personal service and a lot of attention. Everything is just right. Reservation essential. The various grilled specialties from 🐑 are particularly recommended. These are grilled on an open fire 🔥 and served absolutely fresh. All cheese specialties such as fresh fondue and raclette are also delicious. Very cozy wooden restaurant. The acoustics are very good because of the various niches. We had lamb gigots and racks of lamb from the grill with vegetables and potato casserole. Clean 🚻 and sanitary facilities.

Ambiance was very swiss and charming but you need to really like lamb. There are not many options for those who do not (not shocking). While the other dishes we ordered were good, we DO NOT recommend getting the tortolini!! There was only 1 tortolini served on a small bed of spinach. My 16 yo daughter actually cried when she saw so little food on the plate after a day of hiking in the mountains. We joked they should call it a tortolino! Very touristy and not for hungry hikers.

Delicious food! My friends and I ordered the meat fondue and cheese fondue, which is all you can eat. The service was great and the fondue was a fun experience leaving one deliciously full. Highly recommend to those who want a fun experience in a cosy atmosphere. They get very full with reservations so make sure to call in advance to book a table.

Telephone service for reservations is an absolute DISASTER! The gentleman answers the phone, constantly talks to other guests or cuts off the phone. After 6 attempts it was too much for me. Very embarrassing! I would have liked to come.

Tried red wine lamb and lamb tongue, was very nice and no stinky smell or taste at all. Tried wines and have some still water. Got 2 soups on the menu as well. Total price was around 140 chf. Ordered 2 soups, 1 starter and 1 main and 1. Desert. Enough for 2 persons as the portion is big. Service was nice and waitress helped us to split those servings to 2 portion. Ambience is nice and we book in advance. There is not much crowd at 6pm but gets really busy at 7pm onwards, so pls book if u want to come here.

Top food. The lamb was on point. Although the price of Fr.61.- for the rack of lamb seems a bit daunting, I have to say it is absolutely justified. The menu is served in 2 portions. This keeps the lamb juicy and warm. The menu is creatively designed, you will find something for every taste. Not just run-of-the-mill dishes. The ginger wasabi ice cream was delicious! The waitress Lina was extremely attentive and courteous. She actively approaches guests and asks if she has the feeling that something is wrong. The boss shows himself personally in the restaurant.

Delicious food and great service. Highly recommend this restaurant for dinner. I booked online and the available times were either very early or late. I assumed they were fully booked between 7.30pm - 8.30pm, but I think they just don't offer online booking for the peak hours, so it's probably best to call them to check availability. Beautiful young friendly servers and fab cuisine.

The first meal in Zermatt was really disappointed. We didn’t plan well on food hunting, and just pick a restaurant recommended by the 小红书. Unfortunately the food really don’t suite us, and we don’t enjoy the food at all. We order cheese fondue, rosti and beef. Surprising, we all love the beef.

I visited alone without a reservation, but there was a single seat available at the bar in the corner, so I sat down. The seat was so narrow that it was difficult for a large man to sit. I ordered raclette and lamb from the top menu. The raclette came with pickles, so it wasn't too greasy, so it was nice to eat, and I also ate it with lamb later. The lamb steak was really soft and had no smell at all!! It was so delicious even when I ate it without sauce (I am sensitive to the smell of lamb). The vegetables and smash potatoes that came with it were seasoned perfectly. Perfect for Korean tastes. Considering that it is a 4-star hotel restaurant, the price is really cheap compared to the expensive Swiss prices. I said no because a glass of wine doesn't cost 15,000 won haha. Even in Korea, I think you have to pay more to eat food of this quality. Maybe it was because the store was too busy or because I came alone. When they gave me the steak, I tried to clean it up without asking if I had finished eating the raclette, and I accidentally brought another table's bill, so I almost ended up paying more. Even taking that into account, the taste was really good. They just gave me a glass of water, but there was no tea haha.

The store manager and male waiters are very friendly. The only thing to note is a waitress with long blond hair who has an irritable personality and a bad memory.

How can I not eat here even if it is recommended by Michelin? I made a last-minute inquiry about the availability of seats that night and was very happy. The lamb knuckles are well braised without being too soft and the portion is full. The most recommended is the lamb chops, which are a bit chewy and don’t smell like lamb. The architecture of the hotel is worth a look. When you arrive at the reception, you are greeted very friendly and escorted to the table. Very friendly service, attentive and respectful as it should be. The greetings from the kitchen were very tasty, as was the soup and then the main course was very tasty. If you come to Zermatt, you need to visit this gem. They pay the utmost attention to the food, and if I could give the staff 10 stars, I would. We wanted to try a couple of items and also the fondue, and they were very accommodating when it came to sharing, splitting courses and giving each of us our own plates, with the split portion beautifully presented. The steak and fondue were tremendous, and the risotto with chorizo stole the show. Definitely a must-try!

I think this restaurant is overrated. I randomly searched for Zermatt Food on Sagegou and found this restaurant. The business was very good. I didn’t have a reservation, so I had to wait at the door for him to open the door to see if there was any chance. It is recommended that you ask your hotel to help you make a reservation. At first, the attitude was good when there were few people. Later, when there were many people, the attitude became ordinary and basically no one could be called. The customers are almost all Asian, and they may be recommended by famous internet celebrities. For the meal, the lamb was about half-cooked. The Swiss lamb seemed to be good, with almost no fishy smell, but the sauce was ordinary and the surface was not baked and crispy. The table next door didn't feel happy with their meal. The service staff didn't serve bread, and they said the food was too salty and they didn't do anything. (But it seems like there's nothing they can do? Give you another one like Wangpin?) Personally, I believe they shouldn't Oke, some food in Switzerland is really salty, but I am too thin-skinned and can only eat it. In the end, it looked like they were about to quarrel with the store clerk and leave quickly. My attitude was not very good when I was paying the bill. I highly recommend this restaurant to all people visiting Zermatt. I booked in advance a table for 4 ppl, we arrived on time yesterday. A lovely lady, Claudia, gave us a very warm welcome and led us to our table. We have spent quite some time to choose the dishes, Claudia patiently introduced the wide selection on the menu. We aimed for the lamb, my husband and I picked lamb dishes, which was famous for Zermatt’s black nose lamb. My two kids, one preferred Cheese Fondu and one want to look for food other than the lamb. Claudia brought him another menu. We’re all satisfied with the dishes, the meat is tender and juicy with crispy outside. The cheese fondu is traditionally served with bread and small potatoes. The dessert is one of the highlights that surprisingly delicious and a good mix of fresh fruits. I ordered Ginger-wasabi ice-cream, I was amazed of a new taste from a traditional Switzerland restaurant. I’m grateful for the quality of food, the excellent service provided by Claudia. We really enjoyed the food here.

In Taiwan, I don’t dare to eat mutton or mutton stew at all, because the smell of mutton is so terrible! But I heard that European lamb has no taste, and you must eat black-faced lamb when you come to Zermatt, so I mustered up the courage to visit this restaurant. We didn't have a reservation on the day of our visit, so we walked in as soon as the restaurant opened at 18 o'clock and asked if we could dine. Fortunately, we only had to wait for one hour to dine. (The restaurant business is really good, it is recommended to make a reservation online first) I ordered the CHF61 lamb chops after seeing everyone's recommendation. This dish is originally divided into two servings. After confirming with the clerk, it can be served at one time and shared by two people without paying extra for sharing. I must say the lamb chops were absolutely delicious! The meat was very tender, completely flavorless, and left you wanting more. We also ordered another appetizer, which was homemade air-dried lamb leg. It had a slight taste to me, who is afraid of the smell of lamb, but my husband, who dares to eat lamb, loved it. During the meal, the restaurant owner (dressed in formal attire) came out of the kitchen to the table to ask customers about their dining experience, and patiently answered our questions about the ingredients. This dining experience was great! The food is delicious and everyone is friendly from top to bottom. It is a restaurant worth recommending and returning.

An excellent experience all around. We opted for two different types of fondue: the kids chose a traditional oil and my wife and I chose the house specialty lamb cooked in broth. The lamb was absolutely amazing, and we were offered a lamb “refill” when we’d emptied the plate. The desserts were fine, but the flan was mostly disappointing. The real treat was the service. Anaïs was cheerful, helpful, and pleasant all night. Her attentiveness was welcomed by we travelers used to American-style service. My only regret was not being able to dine here twice as their lamb menu looked incredible.

The restaurant serves lamb from their own local farm. We order two lamb dishes - lamb gigot and lamb legs, both of which were magnificent! Even the potatoes and vegetables tasted lovely. The dessert we ordered (ginger-wasabi ice cream on coconut sponge cake) was another winner. It was only of the best meals we had in Switzerland!

The atmosphere is great and feels like a fine dining restaurant. The soup we ordered had wine in it and was a bit bitter, but the salad was pretty good. We ordered the lamb short ribs that everyone ordered. It was really for two people (2+2 plates). We received the worst customer service here. The waiter didn’t bring us the menu for 30mins and after ordering she forgot to bring us sparkling water or any drinks for another 20mins. Finally after having dinner which was ok, asked for the check and she forgot to bring us check for 30mins. She charged us something we didn’t eat, and when I told her about that she sighed loudly and made an excuse that she counted the plates right. No apologies or thank you for dining in or nothing. Very bad service that gave us so bad impression of Zermatt itself because this was our first night here. She was a tall white with blond hair, working at the bar section and around there for some tables. I hope she can be better as long as she is in the service industry. Also the restaurant needs to educate their staff better. I will not dine in here if you come. Over priced with WORST SERVICE. Very rude.

I made a reservation while taking a walk the day before and used it today. My mom wanted to try fondue, so we ordered cheese fondue (the fondue we think of/ 32 francs) and everyone's favorite lamb steak (61 francs), 6 carbonated water and 5 Fanta, for a total of 104 francs. It was much more delicious than the fondue I had in Grindelwald before. However, I visited when I was not hungry, and after eating the lamb, I was so full that I had almost all of the fondue left. I thought it would be a waste to ask if I could pack the rest, but they said it wasn't cheese, only bread and potatoes, so I packed it up. The owner greeted every table and the staff seemed busy, but it was nice. There are almost no good restaurants nearby, so I recommend making a reservation as there are always a lot of customers.

The standard of this restaurant is really very high. Remember to book a table online in advance so you don’t waste time waiting for a table! We ordered bone-in lamb chops for 61 francs and braised lamb knuckles for 41 francs. I think they are very valuable. The lamb is fried crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The stewed lamb knuckles are delicious, but I love their mashed potatoes the most! Really delicious! The portion size is definitely enough for a girl to eat. The waiters in the restaurant are also great. They recommended us delicious braised lamb knuckles and always gave us a big smile. I like it very much.

Went to the Schäferstube on the recommendation of our hotel. Super Service! Nice atmosphere. Food okay, but nothing more. So: Never again at that price. Starters okay. Not, or absolutely nothing special. Quality of the ingredients is top! However, prepared without the “heart and soul” of the kitchen. Bland, boring, standard. Not appropriate for the price. Salad dressing 5/10. Lamb tartare 3/10: no love for meat, actually just minced meat. Without anything except pepperoni. Bland. Predicate nice. Cheese fondue has absolutely nothing to say, but is creamy until the end. Whoever suits us... Not us! A pity.

I don't know what the lambs from which the rack of lamb comes from eat, but it must be damn good because I've never tasted such good lamb before. Full respect also to the multitasking chef who stands at the grill. Simply awesome and every piece of meat has been grilled to perfection for 3 years now. The raclette is also really great.

The food was amazing. We had the fondue and it was delicious as always. If you're in Zermatt, especially if you're staying at any of the Julien hotels definitely go. Just make sure to book a reservation as it's very busy all the time.

Very rustic, cozy atmosphere with lots of wood. The pretzel burger with lamb and the cheese fondue were very tasty. Service was very nice, not intrusive. We go there again for raclette, but nothing is possible without a reservation.

We went to 9 good restaurants during our vacation in Zermatt at the beginning of March. We liked Chez Max Julen best. Why? The food is always very good, the wines carefully selected, and the atmosphere around the open grill is really cozy. But what really made a lasting impression was the harmonious team led by Armin. The people in the service like and value each other and they work well together. This affects the guests. We will have fond memories of this teamwork!

Nach langer Pause endlich mal wieder sich in einem Restaurant verwöhnen lassen.Der Service ist sehr freundlich und gut gelaunt. Von den Chefs bis zum Servicemitarbeiter fühlt man sich willkommen.Die Corona Regeln werden sehr gut eingehalten und man fühl sich einfach rundum wohl.Ich freue mich schon auf das nächsten mal.
