Very tasty, cozy atmosphere and friendly service. Gladly again!

Vegan burger was too watery (probably from the cucumbers).

I didn’t like the veggie burger at all (vegan bacon cheese). The tofu bacon were soggy pieces of simply tofu (nothing closely resembling bacon) and the burger pattie was meh. I definitely make a better burger at home (with beyond burger patties). Fries were the only highlight

Really good for lunch! Great quality for price.

As a Type 1 diabetic, eating a very low carb diet, accompanied by my gluten intolerant son and wife and our vegetarian daughter, we were all able to easily modify our orders. The food was prepared with fresh, high quality ingredients and we all appreciated the warm, inviting décor. Everything was so simple and done so well, 5+ stars!

My pulled beef burger was too salty and the service was a little slow when we wanted to pay... However, I really enjoyed their salad side and appetizers. I can recommend their fried cauliflower and chicken wings. Also, the restaurant infrastructure has a nice ambience and is perfect for dinner.

Burger: normal, good, not exceptional either fries: special too spicy (garlic) Price: ok it’s Switzerland… but rip the wallet 😨😨 2 drinks 2 Burgers = 70 euros… Otherwise the decor is nice and the waitresses were nice too!

Very nice place to visit when staying in Basel,

I particularly remember the breaded cauliflower pieces, the burgers are unusual and taste good. The waiter was also very attentive!

If you want a burger, this is a really good burger place. Seating is a big long table, so it's not any kind of romantic or private eatery, but it's comfortable and the decor is modern. The burgers are great, they would compete with a good burger in the United States, and that saying something. Even the vegetarian burger is good. They also serve beers and the staff is friendly. Like other places in Switzerland, the prices are high so a burger is about 26 francs, though they come with french fries. I don't think you'll find it better burger in Basel.

A little noisy, but we liked it

The bacon cheeseburger was delicious, was a bit messy and kept falling apart. Buttermilk chicken burger was excellent

Phoned in an order of three burgers, fries and drinks and were absolutely pleased with everything. Brie burgers are amazing! Packaging for takeout is 100% eco-friendly. Visiting from U.S. for two more weeks and can't wait to go back. Looking forward to eating in the garden this time. Thank you for an awesome experience.

Manhattan Burger is the tastiest burger

Great service, delicious food - perfect!

I was here for an event organized by the Basler Wohngesellschaft. The food was great and the staff were super quick and friendly.

The service was poor, disinterested and inattentive. Our order was forgotten so we had to wait over an hour for the food. In the end they said that as an apology they would offer everyone (4) coffee, dessert or beer, whatever we wanted. But a Hugo was too much to ask for, they didn't want to give it to us 😂 The ambience is very simple and bland, and it was extremely loud in the room. Sorry, but the food wasn't nearly good enough for this performance.

Self service somehow makes the lunch more informal, but to collect everything from the bar, and pay each time is a bit annoying. Otherwise everything perfect

A nice place especially in the garden. The burgers were okay, fries were great. Dessert (brownies and fondant) were probably the worst dessert we’ve all had for a while. Cocktail was also not the best.

Unfortunately we didn't have a great time here despite the positive reviews. The staff completely mixed up our orders, me and my girlfriend had to swap as she can't eat cheese (didn't order a cheeseburger but got one anyway). It might be because we are English but manage fine in most other Swiss restaurants. We even pointed at the dishes on the menu so it's hard to see how this went wrong. The food itself was okay but some elements were very disappointing like the very unripe avocado we paid extra for. You can definitely get better burgers in Basel. Hopefully they can improve but currently would warn others to stay away if looking for a place to eat especially if you aren't fluent in Swiss German. Drinks and the fries were fine though.

Great place, awesome burgers! We've been dining in and ordering from them for years now, and they are consistently the best at what they do - I do not recall having ever eaten a better burger than their brie-bacon. Also love the new fried chicken wings on the menu!

Let me just say that i used to love this place. Staff are wonderful, the ambience is great, the location is fantastic and when you get your burger done it really is good! Therefore it is with sadness really that I give my favorite (or used to be so) restaurant in the area only three stars. The food is really fresh, and served quickly. But for the nth time in a raw we got overcooked burger. We always ask for two burgers rare and recently each time we came to dine here, one patty always comes...well done. Not even medium, but well done and when it's well done it becomes rather chewy. We thought maybe that is just one chef on certain days of the week but we've been there weekend and mid week and each time it's the same. In addition our orders have been taken wrong a few times and certain items have been forgotten. We will give this place a break for a while , and check it out again in a few months or so. Fingers crossed i can change my rating then!

Got the kimchi burger & Bacon cheese with sweet potato fries. Just amazing fusion of flavours. Very nice & polite staff. Slightly on the expensive side. But surely recommend it.

Good location with standard but also somewhat experimental burgers. It is definitely worth it! The taste is very good and definitely at the top for Basel (what I have tried so far).

The food and location are very good. Would love to come back. Non-alcoholic cocktail could be 2CHF cheaper.

The ambience is great. We were there in the evening. The light, the candles, the wood created a very cozy atmosphere. The burger was great!! I would have liked to have had another dessert but I couldn't really get through to the service. Just too many people. Still, everything is very good. I'd love to come back.

Friendly staff. Ambience is nice and elegant. Good for dates. Menu is exactly the same as Union Diner, but the name is different. The food is also fresher than Union Diner.

Very good burgers in a wide variety. The food there was really worth the price. The dessert was also very good, my favorite is the “Chocolat Fondant”. The service is very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is very modern and interesting.

Something went wrong in advance with the reservation of a table for 10 people. Although this was confirmed, the Union asked the day before whether the reservation was still valid. It is reasonable to assume that the large group of Novartis people would also have liked to reserve our table for their Christmas event. So the evening in the corner became a rather uncomfortable evening, as the noise level from the other guests made it impossible to converse and understand each other at the table. The service was very good. Despite the many people, we were served quickly and friendly. The starters were very tasty. Unfortunately the burger was only lukewarm and not cooked enough to be medium rare. Eating made me feel unwell. All in all good, but not outstanding. With thanks to a patient staff!

The restaurant is sparse and simple. We were a group and had a good meal. Since we placed the order in advance (time pressure), the food was served very quickly. In my opinion, definitely recommended, but not necessarily suitable for a romantic evening.

Although the burgers are not amazing and the price is not cheap (Swiss restaurant prices), the service attitude is good and the dining environment is very comfortable. It closes at 23:00 and we arrived at 22:30. We wanted to say that it was about to close and we didn’t want to disturb the store. We originally chose takeout, but the boss said it didn’t matter and let us continue to dine in. His attitude was also very good and it is worth recommending👍🏼

I think the ambience of the Union is really nice, the food, for example the pulled beef burger, is high quality and really tasty.

Our cousin who's lived here for a decade says this place has the best burgers in town. We're just visiting, but our burgers were definitely very very good. The outside space has natural shade.

The Union Diner is worth every franc: great atmosphere in a beautiful garden/yard, very attentive and friendly staff and burgers that taste so delicious that even I, who don't usually order a burger, come back! We recommend!

The outside area is very nice, invites you to linger. Double beef medium without salad, with bacon and egg upgrade. Double Beef Double Well Done. Disappointing experience, I was looking forward to your juicy burger, but the meat juice had already evaporated. Fries self-cut, but not crispy... Egg Unfortunately cooked, I would have expected the egg yolk to melt. Mustard tastes a disaster. Service friendly, but not attentive. (Customer makes eye contact, customer goes to the waitress to clarify problems....) The price with upgrades ended up at 50.-, with a burger, a spritzer (delicious regional) and a cappuccino (4/5 stars). The price is not justified, the competition makes it much better and faster.

Basically one of our favorite restaurants for burgers, but today the burgers were cold to lukewarm when delivered and the sweet potato fries we ordered were missing. Upon request, fries could no longer be reordered and the only option was to cancel the fries. Very unfortunate.

Perfect place for meeting friends - broad range of excellent bear and broad choice of drinks, tasty burgers, nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Awesome vegan burger. High quality of the food. The interior design and ambience are very cool and the staff is super kind. Prices are average to high but the food quality is top tier. Would come back 10/10.

Very nice service. The burger was one of the best I've ever had. Price-performance ratio definitely fits. Will definitely come to eat here again!

Good burgers in a great atmosphere. The prices are appropriate for the quality. There is a star deduction because the quality and taste vary greatly. One day the burget tastes juicy and fresh and another day it is rather dry and chewy. I can particularly recommend the Brie Bacon Burger.

Overall we were very satisfied! The service was very friendly and helpful. The sweet potato fries are a hit! I tried the brie burger which I really enjoyed, unfortunately the meat wasn't completely cooked through... (which I've read many times in the reviews) it didn't matter to me... but it did to my companion. What made us a little suspicious was the payment process... The waitress told us the price without showing us a receipt... we paid and then received the bill... Everything on the bill was correct, but it could be on the first or come across as strange to others... :)

The fact that the service is overwhelmed because there is a shortage of staff would still be excusable, but it would not be excusable that they are fussing over the certificate control!

Cool location and nicely decorated. The burger was good (had the special, the mariachi), but somehow I expected more. A great beer selection, both local and international. Unfortunately the brownie for dessert was nothing at all😅

We spontaneously went to Union for lunch. We were able to order at the bar. The selection of burgers, salads and poke bowls is well put together. There is something here for almost every taste. The food was good and the ingredients were fresh. I have an exceptionally delicious drink. The service is great! We will come back.

The burgers taste really good and the fries have a good seasoning. There are even ones with sweet potatoes. The prices are okay for Swiss standards (burgers, fries, coke) +\- 30 Chf. At the moment you can only eat in the garden, but it is very cozy. There are lots of plants and the atmosphere is always inviting.

We visited Basel for 2 days during the pandemic. We ordered burgers from the Union and the service was really fast. The food was amazing and I think they have the best burgers in town.
