Union Diner in Basel

The burgers are just amazing! But the waiting times are just very long. Delivery services are highly preferred. So if you go, either expect long waiting times or order. On the other hand, this was one of my best burgers. The prices are high, but it's worth it with the quality and taste of the burger.

We ate different burger menus. We also ordered fries with rosemary and sweet potato fries. Two sauces and a drink are also included in the price. We were even able to have still water refilled. In addition to the menu, there are also monthly burgers and of course vegetarian versions.

Great place for burgers 🍔 variety to choose some snacks as well… no service - you need to order yourself.

Burgers are always very, very good! I was there on a Saturday evening and it was very busy. After waiting about 20 minutes, I received free fries because it took longer. Very nice gesture and good service!

Was my absolute favorite shop for burgers in 2021/2022! The clean Harry (vegan bacon cheeseburger) was to die for! Now I don't think the burger is that great anymore (it used to be topped with tofu bacon, nowadays with a "flacon", which in my opinion is far too tough and the taste unfortunately overpowers the rest of the burger). I also always loved the monthly specials! But now the store is far too expensive and has become a real luxury. The most expensive (vegan) burger used to be CHF 17.00 and as a menu you paid CHF 7.00, so a total of CHF 24.00 - which is also relatively expensive. Today a Buger costs around 1-2 francs more and you pay CHF 10.00 more if you want a menu - so almost CHF 30.00 for a burger menu. I find it cool. But the quality is really very good.

Service was nice, but the taste of the store is really poor. I don't know who came up with the menu and the ingredients for the burgers, but no. Doesn't taste good at all. There are also vegan alternatives, but I strongly advise against them, they don't taste good at all.

Best hamburgers in town! Fresh, tasty, excellent ingredients. It's also worth trying the less "classical" options, e.g. the one with brie.

Sorry, mineral water open, self-service for Fr. 5.00 is a no go.

Delicious burgers, food came quickly, but was also at off-peak time, fries are very tasty and a good selection of sauces! The price is rather expensive, but the ingredients are fresh and of good quality.

The setting is nice. The service not too long of a wait. The Burger let's say average because it was a little cold. But overall it's acceptable.

Ordered food and never came, no information about what happened but they took the money and they can't do anything They speak English and German together on the phone and make it so they don't understand me It's all disgusting Fraud and theft upon delivery

Had to wait 30min on one burger. The staff started finger pointing amd rudely telling me this was mine own fault since i ordered seperatly from the others. Didnt want to give out sauces for fries for the group. Bad expirience, good food but not for this price.

Ordered there for the second time and was very disappointed! The first time my friend and I ate there, with a reservation. We waited 45 minutes until a naked lunch (mine) and the burger with fries were ready. My burger came ice cold, my friend's was hot. How does it work?! Complained and got a hot one, no problem. I just thought that happened. Ordered naked lunch again for the second time today (gluten intolerance), sauce was only on the bottom of the salad. The burger was cold again. I didn't feel like making another complaint because we ordered through a collaboration. That was the last time we ate there. I have to restrict myself so much because of my gluten intolerance, but I can also get cold burgers elsewhere for less money. Extremely disappointed!

I tried different vegetarian burgers. Unfortunately, there wasn't one that I would like to eat again. The prices are quite high.

We had 2 burgers. Both were ordered medium and fried. There may be, but since the burgers were also cold, we complained. The burgers came back slightly warmed but still rather cold. Thanks but no thanks, that was the first and last time.

Ordered lunch with dessert, the brownie (which costs 5.-) was as big as an AirPods case... the fries and the burger were pretty good tho so I'm only taking 2 stars off for thay disgrace of a brownie

The waitress doesn't speak German Burger for 28 francs that is 15cm high, as soon as you take out the lettuce it only feels 2cm high, lettuce is not fresh and just too EXPENSIVE for you, poor quality

The burgers are good, but unfortunately they're charging ridiculous prices these days. 30 francs for a vegan burger with fries and a drink is simply excessive.

Great: Clean and chic restaurant. Nice service and delicious burgers. Not so great: The chairs in the restaurant are so uncomfortable and just nice to look at. It's also a shame that in a restaurant in Basel we are only served in English.

Good burgers that strike a nice balance between "fast" and delicious. Amazing chips (fries if you're so inclined). Selection of burgers is solid too.

Burger Game was strong in the restaurant in Kleinbasel. Since the deliveries came from Gundeli, something has always been missing or wrong. They don't like to answer the phone, at least for me.

Union Diner has many different burgers to choose. And the bruger portions are just about perfect, as is the composition. The side dishes are smal but tast. It doesn't fall apart the bruger. The meat is also very tasty. So if you're in the mood for a good burger, then it's union dinner yours.

Really good burgers and sides - like in other Union restaurants in Basel. My favourite is the one in Klybeckstrasse because of the nice atmosphere and garden, but this one in Gundeli is also a nice venue! - much better than near Steinenvorstadt that is small, crowded and smells too much like a deep-fryer. Great to have this choice near the station

Christmas eve we arrived to Basel Switzerland and realized all restaurants were closed or booked. We were suggested to walk to Union Diner, and was worth the walk and the money. Great service and tasting food

For those who love burgers of all types, a great place, the prices are the only negative. In my opinion a little too high but otherwise everything is excellent.

My favorite and go-to burger place in Basel. Several locations around the city, great and friendly service in all the restaurants. The food is amazing, garlic mayo dip is a must have.

It is was quite nice place to hamm a burger, but the meat inside the burger waa a bit tiny🤷‍♂️ Overall it was delicious👌

The lettuce in the burger was more black than green. We reported it to the staff and the chef said “sorry” and in the background you could see more of the salads that didn’t look good.

Waited 50 minutes for a cappucino even though I asked twice. We were also allowed to eat with the leftovers from our predecessors on the table. When we asked if the table could be cleaned, the table was cleaned but we then had the leftovers on our laps because she wiped everything off the table onto us with the cloth :) A no go at these prices and self service.

I'll always order again, the burgers are really fantastic. Unfortunately, a mistake was made with my order today - so far it's not that bad. The woman on the phone promised me a voucher by email, but that would take 1-2 weeks. When I was astonished as to why it was taking so long, she replied that they were not “magicians”. Yesterday I was the only customer late in the afternoon... I had to wait exactly half an hour for my burger!! When I asked the cashier that it wasn't possible; She said they were still waiting for more orders (including uber eats)...!!! At least she apologized and was friendly. Nevertheless ---- we are all busy and can't wait until more guests come! The burger...sorry...it wasn't medium well. It was dry!!!!! From three points to one... :-/ ------------------------- (a year ago) The cashier was unfriendly and arrogant that day. Even though I ordered first, she gave priority to customers who came after me or placed their order first..(arrangement with the chef)..and I noticed it by chance! That doesn't work at all, even if someone has to rush to their train or whatever... The burgers are and will remain “world class”!! A big thank you to the kitchen!! Burgers at Union, Yes! Burger at Union in Meret... for me NO! Update from 2 stars to 3. Union apologized (email) or accepted the criticism.

Cheese burger, fries, BBQ sauce, tasty af. The patty is a tad crumbly/dry for my taste at first... Once it's properly soaked in sauce/juice mix that's less of a problem though.

I was at Union Diner Meret Oppenheim Restaurant last night and I really enjoyed the Easy Rider Menu. High quality meat and delicious sauces. The staff was super friendly and very smiling. I'll be back 👍🍔

Nice sweet potato fries with fresh meat burger!

I was craving a burger and fries, so I decided to try this place and wasn't disappointed. The rosemary fries were really good! I like that you can pick what sauce. I also got the caprese burger because it seemed like something unique. They also have monthly specials - when I was there both were Japanese themed. Also almost every burger comes as a vegan option, which I thought was super cool. Service was quick.

We always enjoy eating here. Great burgers, great quality. There is only one star deduction for the disposable tableware and the relatively high prices for self-service. But the good food makes you quickly forget that. It's a shame that you no longer offer the chili sauces (used to be on the tables)! Please reintroduce :)

Fast service and friendly staff. Food is extremely delicious. Had to do some searching because the restaurant is on Güterstrasse and not on Meret Oppenheim-Strasse as in the 360° view on Google Maps. The whole building is Meret Oppenheim-Strasse 1.

The Union Diner impresses with good food made from regional products. However, this has its price. The atmosphere is rustic and yet modern. Perfect for a dinner for two or a small group. ##Revision## In 9 out of 10 cases the phone is not busy. It is almost impossible to make reservations or orders for pickup. Definitely needs improvement. Someone with a lot of time pressure cannot trust that they can place their order and pick up their food within a reasonable time. Ordering through Uber Eats is more expensive, even if you order for pickup.

Meat was hard and bland. Burgers were definitely better and the sauce wasn't included either. It was probably the last order... no longer satisfactory.

I went to the restaurant expecting to be served, unfortunately that is not the case. I personally didn't like the atmosphere that much either. The food itself was still very tasty!

Basic burger and customer service

We ordered 4 burgers from the menu at the Muttenz campus via Uber Eats and were able to benefit from the 2 for 1 offer. Despite the waiting time of 40 minutes and a transport of 24 minutes, we received relatively warm burgers and could have warmed them up again, but that wasn't necessary. (Which you can assume, because it's far and the food gets cold... at some point). We were definitely very happy and put the leftovers in the oven that evening. Even then they were still great and the bread was even a little crispier. From four life science students. Thumbs up!

Resturant was clean and tidy. Frites were good as well. However the bun was sweet and the patty was lacking salt and tasted plain.

The food is generally good, the meat is delicious. We've been there several times because we live in the same building. But today we were served cold burgers for the third time; neither the bread nor the burgers were warm... The buns were also soggy and barely edible. We then took the burgers apart again, put them in the oven for 5 minutes and then ate them without bread. But you don't really want to pay for that... ;) Too bad, that was probably the last time.

On December 25th ate out for the first time. And it was relaxing and cozy at the Union Diner Gundeli. Three delicious burger menus including veggies, fresh, tasty and good. Gladly again!

Burger was not bad but both service and the overall environment was a bit dissapointing... Better going to the location close to the cathedral.

Ordered burger and 2x Coke (2x 4.50 for the Coke)…. Only the burger arrived… everything was paid for! Never again...

Unfortunately very chaotic and completely disorganized. Meals are prepared at different times. Some of the food is therefore already cold. Unfortunately, feedback is not responded to adequately. Very unfortunate.

We ordered ūbee via uber eat from Union, unfortunately the food arrived ice cold and therefore inedible. I think you should speak to uber eat. Because something like that doesn't work at 52 francs per ton. And since we threw it in the trash, we can no longer send a photo

everyone likes burgers. The look inside is not very impressive. But the burgers are good.

Great service, does take a while because they made everything FRESH - but worth the extra wait! Comfortable atmosphere with great food = happy times! I will definitely be coming back - even was able to comfortably bring my dog with me, there was enough space under the table for her to quietly lay while we ate.
