A stroke of luck to live in the same house as Barone. Great restaurant with delicious food and wood fired pizzas. The wine and desserts are also sensationally good. I would particularly like to emphasize the warm service. You are really pampered and the service is very efficient. Baron is a real must when in Ascona. .

This restaurant seems to be very "in". Lots of young guests. Service friendly, restaurant very nice. But since that's not why we go out to eat...unfortunately the important thing, namely the food, doesn't live up to the good reviews or the high price. After 10 minutes we already had our food on the table. Cordon Bleu fried with processed cheese, bought ready-made from the frozen food store. Were not at all! Ossobucco cold from the microwave, very overcooked and meat dry. Chicken with sweet and sour sauce from the Thai bottle. Everything was done carelessly. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the kitchen more highly.

I am extremely happy to share my experience at the Barone restaurant where I spent Valentine's Day. The staff were exceptional, welcoming and attentive to every detail, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere. The room, elegantly set up, contributed to making the evening unforgettable. The seafood food was magnificent, fresh and expertly prepared, giving us a delightful culinary journey. Definitely a place to recommend for an amazing gastronomic experience.

Pear/radicchio risotto unfortunately uneatable. Raw rice, not even from afar did it look like risotto. I wanted to reserve for a birthday dinner: thank goodness I stopped in, I knew the place managed by the previous manager who had truly excellent cuisine. With the new management I have been (unfortunately) 2 times, the 1st and the last. I tried to eat anyway, after 7 forkfuls I couldn't do it. Paid, anyway, 14 fr. Never spent 14 fr in a worse way. Total disappointment. NB. 24.01.24 at 12.30 in the restaurant we were 4 old people, otherwise it was empty. Could this be the lack of care for a simple risotto? Maaaah.

We had dinner here today. Despite the short-term absence of several staff, the service was very good. With Toni and Antonietta we had 2 very attentive waiters and waitresses who practice their jobs with a lot of passion. The plates were prepared with a lot of love, so you can eat with your eyes ;) For us, the quality of the food is almost at the gourmet/top chef level. The ambience was nicely decorated but a little noisy and dark. But that's really "complaining" at a high level. We were definitely not there for the last time. It is worth it!

Exceptional location, excellent food, friendly and trained staff. The owners immediately make you feel at home. We started our dinner with Parma ham and fried gnocco, our friends had other appetizers including beef and fish tartare, all delicious. To continue we divided a Florentine steak in two, never eaten so good. Sweet "Neapolitan babá" never tried in Switzerland. Digestives offered on the house. Parking on site, otherwise there is a car park 30 m before (the first two hours are free then 1.- per hour), we did this because there were many of us. We will definitely be back, well done!!

We ate at il Barone yesterday, the restaurant is absolutely amazing, whether it's food, ambience or service, everything gets a full 5 stars. The waiters/waiters are so personable, funny and very attentive in everything. Great advice when it comes to eating. And the food was simply great, whether it was a starter, main course or dessert, everything was absolutely amazing. I haven't eaten something like that for a long time. Great food and wine recommendations from the wait staff.

The restaurant is almost completely empty, at 8 a.m. there were 4 groups eating. The pizza was baked almost poorly and the roast lamb was underdone and didn't taste like lamb at all. It tasted more like overcooked Züri-schnitzel. The pizzas were black on the edges. It didn't remind me of Il Barone at all.

Birthday lunch in Ascona, near where I live. Made this solo traveler’s day. Excellent recommendation of wine by the glass (on request) by my waiter. Pleasantly crisp notes, full-bodied for a white. Had the red shrimp with avocado as appetiser, it was a hit. Pasta as main course - perfect texture, faultless red shrimp, but found the potage a tad too grassy. Bit of a clash with the squid ink pasta. Service was impeccable and attentive, never obtrusive. Good ambience, unpretentious setting, fairly extensive menu. Was very well looked after by the waiter. Hope to be back to try the rest of their fare!

We spent our last dinner in Ascona here. We came here without a reservation, it was fine however the people were coming and coming so I would recommend to reserve. Service exceptional, the best in Ascona so far, extremely friendly and knows the profession very well. We are german speakers and even though the waiter’s language skills were not high the communication was good without misunderstanding. Regarding the food, exceptional if there would be a more descriptive word to say perfect I would use it. My wife is vegetarian there are very good options not just pizza which is great. Homemade desserts are highly recommended especially the tiramisu. The list of wines is extended and you can find very good ones. To Switzerland it is rather average in terms of price (3-course per person) This restaurant is a keeper, next time we are in Ascona definitely come back. Grazie tutti! 😊

I and a group of friends were there for women's day. Despite the number of people, the service was very good and quite fast, the staff very courteous and the food excellent. They even gave us a mimosa at the beginning of the evening. I highly recommend it if you want to go out and eat something good in a nice place at a reasonable price. We will definitely return.

Excellent pasta and risotto, good choice of wines..

The location is pleasant and intimate. The dishes are excellent, well prepared and with good portions. Friendly and helpful staff. Good quality/price considering the area. Points that could be improved: poor choice of wines by the glass verbally (it is also advisable to say the prices of each), a little too long of a wait to order and for each course, but it was understandable given that the room was full.

Went there spontaneously on a Thursday evening. Very friendly and professional waitress and waiter. We ate a Florentine steak for two people. It's been a long time since we had such tender and well-roasted meat. I recommend the restaurant to anyone who likes to eat professionally prepared meat.

The pizzas are excellent, well garnished and well cooked, the tartars are delicious, the desserts are delicious... The restaurant is spacious, offers beautiful decoration and a beautiful terrace, you can also eat there when it rains because it is protected. And all this for more than reasonable prices. Great restaurant! The staff was super friendly and attentive! As a welcome we were given various appetizers to try. The food we ordered was all excellent. The pizza in particular was phenomenal. The pizzas are baked in a stone oven. At the very end, limoncello/meloncello is offered. We really enjoyed our visit and would recommend it to everyone. Probably the best pizza around!

Fear! I had given a friend a dinner for his birthday, I opted for the Baron. Place I've never been, but I've heard good things about it. As soon as we arrived we were immediately greeted by very friendly staff. The place is beautiful and the well-covered outdoor terrace allows you to eat outside even in case of heavy rain and remains well covered. I leaf through the paper out of curiosity (we already knew that we wanted to try the brazier "corner"), the paper seems of quality and is not extremely large, but not small either. There are also pizzas. We opt for Fiorentina with side dishes, and the great thing is that in the brazier corner you cook everything. They bring the brazier to the table and you cook the meat from scratch. I find this very nice because at least the meat is cooked perfectly and it doesn't get cold by making one/two pieces at a time. Fiorentina is made up of meat, 3 side dishes, 5 sauces invented by them. With the brazier you can eat calmly and enjoy a nice dinner with friends. The pizzas that passed by us reminded me of the Neapolitan ones with their crust, and the face of those pizzas was beautiful. To conclude I must also say that the quality/price is excellent. New customer, I'll be back soon. Compliments!

We had a nice evening. Excellent food, well served also from an aesthetic point of view. Courteous staff attentive to customer needs.

We had dinner on a Saturday evening on the terrace, a very nice place but also very chaotic (it was almost difficult to speak). We took mussels marinara (very good and large portion) and fried gnocco with raw ham (not like the originals, but still very good and generous portion). As a first course we had pasta with clams and potatoes and pasta with seafood (average quality). As a second course, grilled prawns (small portion accompanied by vegetables and potatoes, I don't recommend taking this as a main course). Very kind staff. In general we were satisfied, the only flaw: the water at the table is served in small jugs and you have to constantly ask to refill it, a bit annoying both for the customer and (I imagine) for the waiter who has the room full.

Very, very loud, hardly possible to have a conversation. Dessert way too much sugar

I can confirm all the recommendations here: fine restaurant, upscale ambience, super friendly staff - at this point I would like to thank the team for not already arriving at the door with my outfit was rejected - and of course a pizza of the finest quality, I have definitely never eaten a better pizza anywhere! Something else should be mentioned in passing, which is just as important to me as the others - I also found very good cutlery here. An excellent restaurant!!! The food is of high quality and prepared with a lot of love. The service is incredibly friendly, attentive and accommodating. The ambience makes you feel good and all in all it was a very nice evening. I do have one small comment, however. A Facebook page doesn't do the restaurant justice (a Facebook page always makes a dubious impression to me). We would be happy to come back and would be happy to recommend Il Barone.
