Ristorante Le Bistrot Otello in Ascona

I order an American coffee from a slightly impatient young "waiter". I received a large cup, black and intense from the aroma. I immediately ask for the jug of hot water separately, as the service requires. He replies that this is how American coffee should be served... but he brings me hot water anyway. I try to have an exchange, explaining to him the reason for the water supplement... but I only saw his back, with barely audible comments in the background... Moral: if you don't know something you can always listen, and maybe learn something new. Result: arrogance of the waiter Customer dissatisfaction.

Stressful and stressful server This is the first time I've written a review, but we were so poorly received that we feel obliged to warn potential future customers. First of all, we arrived at 8:10 p.m. while the kitchens closed at 9 p.m. We understand that the kitchens want to close on time, but if it really was a problem, we should have warned us before we sat down or at least told us we might be stressed to choose and eat … Because as soon as we arrived, the waiter glared at us and was extremely insistent! We were under so much pressure that several of us didn't even have time to find out what we were ordering, and one of us was forced to order something to eat when she didn't want to. not eat… in short, horrible! In addition, we were laughed at when we wanted to order a cocktail as young adults (18-19 years old) without even asking to see our ID card. Unacceptable!! When we wanted to order an unfortunate salad, the waiter replied curtly and very aggressively that there was no more… so we had to choose a new dish in 30 seconds tops, while the waiter tapped frantically the table with an annoyed look. In addition, it was practically impossible to communicate with the waiter because he only spoke Italian (not a word of French, English or German). There are still some positive points apart from the unpleasant waiter: the general atmosphere of the restaurant was friendly, it is well located, and the food was not bad but just not necessarily to our taste… So to conclude, it’s a shame that the service is of such poor quality, otherwise we would have had a great time!

Too much waiting. Incomplete pancake because they didn't have all the ingredients and in terms of taste it was just edible (17fr per pancake). Grumpy cook. Staff always stuck on their cell phones.

I didn’t feel that unwelcomed and unwanted in an restaurant for a long time. Very family unfriendly. They were rude and we had the feeling that kids are absolutely not wanted. Moreover we ordered 3 meals. They brought 2 meals that we didn’t ordner. Since they don’t speak English We could not return one of the meals. This is very unprofessionall

Expensive for the quality it offers. 20 minutes waiting for a crepe and a water. Too excessive to pay 3chf for a glass of water. Precisely it was a glass from the tap and not a bottle...
