Great idea from the Migros Cooperative Association, operator of the cog railway to Monte Generoso, which has existed since 1890, on nice weekends and public holidays, even in winter. Today was a great day with distant views from the Ligurian Apennines over Monte Viso near Turin to the Graubünden mountains. Such a distant view can probably only be experienced in winter. On the outward journey from Zurich to Lugano we were lucky enough to catch a train that was exceptionally traveling through the Gotthard Base Tunnel, which is currently closed to passenger trains. Overall, a very successful and recommendable day trip from Lake Zurich. The new building by star architect Mario Botta is very successful and the food in the self-service restaurant was impeccable. The kitchen and service staff were all very friendly and accommodating. On the way up the mountain in the morning with the first train, they pointed out chamois next to the railway line. A visit to the summit (ascent 90 meters in altitude, 15 minutes) is highly recommended, but only if the path is ice-free. Surefootedness and good footwear are required. Sticks and shoe spikes are highly recommended. There are various descent options on foot: 1. Monte Generoso to Bella Vista: descent 400 meters in altitude, 1 hour 2. Monte Generoso San Nicoloa: Descent 900 meters in altitude, 2 hours 3. Monte Generoso to Roncapiano, bus stop: descent 630 meters in altitude, approx. 1 hour 15

I have a dog (Dachshund) for 8 years. I take it with me from St. Moritz to St. Tropez to the best restaurants in the world and I have never had any problems, in fact the waiters always come to me with bowls of water. BUT HERE, IN THIS GORGEOUS GROTTO LOST IN NATURE AND IN NOTHINGNESS, MY DOG AND CONSEQUENTLY ME HAVE BEEN FORBIDDEN ENTRY. I find this a very serious fact! Furthermore, the refusal occurred in a very rude and aggressive way. Remember that the earth belongs to everyone, and there is no one species superior to another. 200 years ago, entry to women or blacks was prohibited. I appeal to your intelligence and ask you to evolve. I remember that restaurants are public places, dogs are part of families and are the greatest daily gift after children. I ALSO SUGGEST YOU TO ALSO INCLUDE VEGETARIAN DISHES IN YOUR MENU. THE FUTURE IS VEGAN AND CRUELTY FREE. A thousand thanks Arch. Berger
