SACHI in Genève

Ton of potential. Some dishes are hits, the mains, like chicken, mushrooms, lamb but the sushi, especially rolls were OK. Ambiance is a wee bit shy of anything memorable and prices were extremely expensive, 40E for a California Roll - perhaps says it all.

Very good restaurant, whose dishes display a certain price linked to the place and the quality. However, 9.- CHF (9 euros) for an espresso with a Nespresso capsule is totally excessive.

Dining at Sachi Japanese restaurant, located within the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Geneva, offered an overall good experience tinged with certain issues that could detract from the high expectations set by its gourmet and luxury setting. The ambiance initially presented an unexpected inconvenience; the restaurant was notably cold, prompting the hostess to suggest seating in the veranda, claimed to be warmer. This situation was a bit surprising for a hotel of Mandarin Oriental’s caliber, where comfort should be paramount. Observing a few fellow guests resorting to wearing their coats indoors due to the temperature was not an ideal start to what one would expect to be a seamless dining experience. The service, particularly in relation to drinks, was a highlight. The wine list was impressive, showcasing a great selection from the world over. The cocktails were all well-presented and savory. However, the absence of wine pairing suggestions with the offered menus was a missed opportunity to elevate the dining experience further. For a restaurant of Sachi's stature, with a sommelier on service, such an offering seems like a basic expectation to meet the gourmet dining standards it aspires to represent. A noticeable departure from traditional Japanese cuisine was the inclusion of non-traditional ingredients such as green Tabasco or siracha sauce used in dishes. While innovation in cuisine is often welcomed, the use of these ingredients felt out of place in what is presented as an authentic Japanese dining setting. Despite these criticisms, the food presentation was undeniably five-star, with each dish served beautifully, a testament to the chefs' skill and attention to detail. Highlights included the salmon tataki and the langoustine (perfectly cooked), though the latter's sauce did not meet the same high standard. The black cod was very well prepared and delicious. The A5 Wagyu steak had bone fragments, which was a first. It was offered with several different sauces and the truffle sauce lacked truffle flavor. The wagyu was oddly paired with legumes identical to the side vegetable dish, a choice that lacked creativity. The dessert course offered a mixed experience; the cheesecake was delightful, striking the right balance of flavors and textures. Conversely, the 64% dark chocolate mousse sphere, black garlic was inconsistent, with an uneven distribution of flavor that oscillated between overly intense black garlic notes and portions lacking any distinctive taste. I'd like to highlight that the young server assigned to us performed exceptionally well in servicing our table and attending to our needs.

Exceptional restaurant but overpriced dishes. We ordered a small starter to share which was excellent, and then chose two main dishes from the menu which we loved! Everything was really successful, the service impeccable and the place very warm. Too bad once again for the prices, because the restaurant requires a big budget to be able to fully appreciate the dishes offered. We will return anyway.

Although not every dish is a complete hit (like the sachi roll is more of a kimbap than a sushi) it is nonetheless a good japanese spot in Geneva.

We came to eat last night, from starters to main course, absolutely everything was delicious. The spicy tuna sushi as well as the Wagyu beef were amazing. My best discovery since Izumi. The place is also very pleasant and comfortable.

I went yesterday with my partner to celebrate his birthday. Dinner was perfect! We had the Sachi Menu and it was definitely worth it! We ate so well, the quality and presentation of the dishes, the impeccable service... really a great dinner! THANKS !

The dishes are EXCELLENT. Once all the organizational problems were resolved (see below), we were well informed and served. But.... 1. The service was not up to par in terms of organization. My husband had reserved a table for 2 people for my 50th birthday (December 19). We were allocated a table for 4 people. Then, the staff did not deign to come and bring us the card to take our orders because they wrongly thought that we were still waiting for 2 other people!! If after a long wait of 45 minutes (!!) I had not taken the initiative to ask for the drinks and food menu to be brought to us, I think it would have turned into a nightmare. 2. The table for 4 people was large and pressed against a supporting column. Anything but romantic. 3. The fabric coverings of the chairs/armchairs were SO STAINED (unacceptable) that I had to select the one that was least stained for fear of staining my brand new and very expensive pants that I had bought expressly for this occasion. 4. Due to the delay caused by the staff error, we were obliged to order all of the dishes in advance to avoid the kitchen being closed at a given time as we had been very clearly told. 5. As soon as dessert was finished, we were made to understand that it was time to leave. 6. While taking leave, one of the waiters made a very daring, awkward and ambiguous remark (with sexual connotations) at the same time: My husband had just invited me for my 50th birthday and the waiter dared to tell me that the next time it was up to me to invite my husband because in life “it’s good to reverse roles”. I would like to point out that we are two men. The little birthday surprise really made me happy (mochis). Just a shame that the waiter forgot my first name (while singing happy birthday) which he had asked me just a few minutes earlier and which is very easy to remember (Thomas). Fortunately the quality of the dishes was truly sublime otherwise I would have been disgusted with this evening.

10 course Omakase dinner: Superb food, superb service and superb ambiance = Superb experience

Congratulations to the whole team, everything was perfect. We had a fabulous meal first of all for the quality of the food. Tastes that are not found everywhere and successful cooking. But also thanks to the atmosphere of the place which is both elegant but also relaxed (just right). Well done to the head sommelier who is really very welcoming. Their wine list is great! I highly recommend!

Excellent experience! Every bite was a pure delight, offering refined flavors including sushi, crispy rice and Black Cod. The cocktails were also exquisite. I highly recommend and look forward to returning.

My girlfriend and I dined at SACHI couple of days ago, we both went for the SACHI Menu which includes 2 starters, one main with side dish and desert. For starters we had Seared Tuna, Sea Bass Usu-Zukuri, salmon sashimi and crispy rice spicy tuna tartare, for mains beef fillet and black cod accompanied by traditional miso soup and a vegetarian Yaki-Meshi, we also ordered mochi as desert to finish off. The food was super flavorful and the service staff were very attentive. We spent a total of 220 CHF for food alone plus a little extra for drinks. Considering the overall quality of dinner, service, ambiance and the fact that we are in Geneva at the Mandarin Hotel we found the price very honest. We did manage to take couple of pics, here starters, one main and dessert. Thanks for the wonderful evening!

Excellent restaurant. We are very well received there, the cuisine is delicious and refined. The setting is great. I highly recommend. We will come back to this.

Alright! The former chef of Izumi at Four Seasons, revisits the great classics… pleasant service + jazzy atmosphere

Disappointing service for a restaurant of such location and price point. Amazingly slow, especially considering we ordered three standard lunch menus. They were taking so long to arrive that we had to leave by skipping the last dish. The unhelpful reaction of the staff on our arrival when we arrived with a somewhat incomplete details of our reservation (instead of helping us find our table, letting us stand there waiting as if we were trying to crash a party) was the cherry on the cake. Some genuinely great food but the overall experience really subtracted from it. A missed opportunity.

BEST RESTAURANT IN GENEVA. Our friend recommended it to us and we never expected to be the best dining experience in our lives. We went twice in the last couple of weeks and are coming back again today. Plsss try the crispy rice with spicy beef tartare, it’s amazing.

After visiting most of the formal high end Japanese restaurants in Geneva area. I think this one tops all in town. My way of giving it a too stop includes service as a very important component. I think when one wants to have this meal, it is mostly around feeling good about life or a celebration or an important formal business meeting. For all of the above food matters but service has to be Swiss hospitality style. I think that takes over and makes your dining and moment great. This one also take top spot because of ambiance. Japanese restaurants are everywhere but managements have failed to upscale service around it. To top all the above, I rate food in top tier too. Loved every bite and thoroughly enjoyed the flavours. My favourite was sea bass and Wagyu. Evening time is best time to enjoy this place.

Probably the best Japanese restaurant in Geneva! The cuisine is phenomenal, the service impeccable. I recommend starting at the bar with a cocktail tailor-made to your tastes accompanied by small Japanese snacks. The bartender and servers are really attentive, full of recommendations.

If you like a smooth dinner date with great staff to make your experience a special one and good food, then this is just perfect.

AMAZING The service was impeccable from start to finish (which is really rare these days). The staff are adorable and smiling and the food is excellent! Little touch of ❤️: if you sit at the bar you can see the bartender, Russell Morales, concocting your little cocktails (a real pleasure to watch)! The cocktails exude creativity, passion and the know-how of the bartender. 🎬 The final word: a real experience to live (at least) once in your life. Good job 👏

Amazing! The staff is very pleasant and the food really excellent! The products are fresh and very well prepared. The only downside is that the cocktails have high prices for the quantity offered, despite the fact that they are delicious. We have already been back since our first visit a month ago, and will most definitely return.

Very disappointed with our experience last Saturday, February 4. The only positive points are the service and the cocktails. Tasteless food (tuna with truffle sauce??? No truffle taste) 1 langoustine cut in 2 (I imagine that's why you put langoustines in the plural on the menu) at 75chf??? Ok it's a 5 star but.... Total disappointment for the sushi... Very and/or too noisy restaurant and music totally unsuitable for the place. Asked to correct the invoice, because 2 mineral waters (50 cl at 9Chf?? ...there is no longer the rule of 3??, because if at the coop the bottle costs 1chf, I imagine you pay even less for it expensive) charged instead of 1. In short....479chf a bit wasted. In terms of classy restaurant, Izumi is far ahead of Sachi, and as far as sushi is concerned, Kisaku, who is certainly less glamorous I agree, gives you a lesson. Too bad...we won't come back

A refined and simple decoration. A smiling and welcoming service. The food is good, but don't go there expecting to find the same dishes and flavors as Izumi, who has kept the rights to certain recipes... For my taste, the menu lacks signature dishes of character.

I had the pleasure of discovering this restaurant during a dinner one evening in January. Located on the banks of the Rhône, we were very well received by staff who were as courteous as they were professional. Once seated, our eyes fell on the two menus offered (Menu Sachi & Menu Umami), which offer a very nice selection of various starters, main courses and desserts. If you don't know what to choose, let yourself be advised by the staff who will delight you with their delicious dishes. If the atmosphere and decor seem refined to you, this will go very well with the different dishes which skillfully combine the different complex and sophisticated flavors. The quality of the ingredients is also exceptional. Whether it is the freshness of the various fish, or the tenderness of the Wagyu beef, you will understand that the prices displayed on the menu are more than justified. I hope to go back soon, this time trying the Omakase that was recommended to me. A big thank you to SACHI for this great discovery and to Marley for his quality service and advice.

A great Japanese Restaurant in Geneva with Omakase bar. Restaurant is located on the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Food is good overall but not incredible as expected.

Im definitely coming back here. Everything was great. Service. Food. Experience. Even the price wasn't too insane for Geneva's standards and for a high end Japanese at the Mandarin. My only comment is more of a wish than a criticism. I wish they would have a full real nigiri only omakase option. I would become an instant regular here if they did.
