Great food, reservations are recommended

This restaurant is truly a secret spot if you are in altstetten which is a like 15 minutes away from the city center. The restaurant is small and has not to mich tables so for Friday and Saturday i would recommend a reservation. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. For the food i can give a 5 out if 5. However it is a little more expensive but very recommendable

Very tasty authentic Japanese food. No western fusion cuisine. The ambience will certainly be better once the construction site is gone.

Very nice Japanese restaurant with amazing service and super tasty food. I can only recommend. The only issue is the restaurant is not very cosy and it is along a big street, so I hope they move locations also closer to Zurich. But otherwise it's absolutely delicious, they have eel, takoyakj, okonomyaki, great sushi and udon, etc...

The food is realy good. A large variety of Japanese recipes, delicious bentos. This is not the right place if you are looking for cheap lunch or dinner.

Cute Japanese restaurant with delicious domestic food like curry and bento. I consider it of high value, not only because of the relatively low price, but also the range of Japanese domestic food they serve, like Yakisoba, curry, bento, etc, which I almost never saw in a second Japanese restaurant in Zurich. So I find it very refreshing. The service is amazing. Would go again

Food and service perfect and despite being on Badenerstrasse, it's also okay to sit outside! Too bad it ended at 10 p.m.

The best sushi place in Switzerland!

Takoyaki were warm and very tasty, avocado salmon rolls were also extremely tasty. Staff greets you nicely. Since I know a little Japanese, I also understood them better, which was fun. We got take-away. Waiting time wasn't long.

Everything perfect, great food, good service, nice restaurant. There were five of us as a family for dinner there. You might think you're in Japan. All staff authentically Japanese.

Very nice sushi and rolls, with reasonable pricing! Takoyaki was weak though... But I did not have big expectations for takoyaki anyways. Sushi and rolls are best in Zurich. Much better than the more pricey restaurants at Seefeld.

The staff were friendly and the food was delicious, especially the okonomiyaki. Although the service was a bit slow during lunchtime, it was worth the wait. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who loves authentic Japanese cuisine.

Authentic Japanese sushi run by Japanese chefs and waiters. Great value for lunch box. Evening is always fully booked make sure you have a reservation. The sushi boat is excellent!

My friend brought me here even though I wasn't a sushi fan at all. Well, ever since I had sushi from Samurai I LOVE it! For me the best sushi restaurant in Switzerland!

Very tasty food! Price/performance top! Polite service. The acoustics are a bit strenuous and the place is sparsely furnished. But can only recommend eating there. It's totally worth it!

Certainly the most authentic Japanese food in the region is served here. Food has always been very good. Hideo San (is he still the boss?) and his brother, Hiro San, who is unfortunately no longer with us, were the pioneers of sushi and Japanese cuisine in Zurich. However, I don't really like the atmosphere in Samurai, it seems a little too austere for me, although this is more typical of Japan.

Excellent Food. Service was very nice and welcoming. Katsu Curry was different than other curries, I really liked it. Great taste and Sushi is very authentic and good there to. Only downside its so small inside and therefor a bit less private.

Excellent quality at a very competitive price. It's a real Japanese restaurant, not the usual fake Chinese "all you can eat". The place is not very large but still welcoming and easily accessible. The menu is very rich in gastronomic options, well presented and with good quality ingredients. The staff is friendly, also speaks English, and is very efficient. The open kitchen. The parking is not very easy to find as it is on a main road. Definitely coming back. Highly recommended.

Very tasty japanese restaurant. Feels pretty authentic and the sushi I had were delicious. Only downsides, the prices were a bit high and service was a little slow. Make sure you reserve, the room is small and gets filled fast. There's some outdoor seating but close to a busy street so would not recommend unless really hot day. Food is really good though.

The sushi is very tasty, I really liked it. Overall, a great place, good service, friendly, smiling staff. The only thing I didn’t like was the liquid with the scoop of ice cream. The ice cream was inconsistent with pieces of ice, I was very upset, because I was delighted with the sushi.

Authentic Japanese food! We lost count of how many times we ate at Samurai VII. Price-performance for the lunch menu is unbeatable and simply delicious. Wide selection of bento box, curries, noodles & sushi dishes. There is something for every guest. We were a little skeptical at first because the selection of different dishes was so large. But the quality and taste is high and delicious every time you visit. If you love Japanese food, this is the place for you!

It is one of the best Japanese restaurant I have ever been in. From the food to the servers, to the place. You can tell everything has just been cooked with care. It is delicious and has many traditional dishes, which I love. I went there for my birthday and it was the best birthday yet.

I come here to eat very often, it's always great. We usually have sushi or tonkatsu. Service is very nice. It's often full, which is why we always make reservations in advance.

Sushi was decent, agedashi tofu very good, as well as the chashyu but I asked for a rice bowl and got a tiny mushy, wet portion of rice for 6 chf. I can not give this place more than 2 stars since they were unable to serve an acceptable bowl of rice.

Food is great but compared to 2 months ago, there is only half the food available at takeaway than before. That's not the Japanese way.
