Highly decorated pizzeria which used to be near Zurich Wipkingen / Limmattal and has now moved to Schlieren (some drama, the old location still operates under a different name). They pride themselves on being very Neapolitan including using ingredients from the region. The food was nice and definitely a good experience, not sure if I expected more because of their awards but for me it's in line with the best pizzerias in the city. Make sure you reserve and be cautious as parking can be tricky, especially in the evening.

The location has changed but the pizza remains the best in Zurich!

Very good Italian restaurant with Neapolitan specialties. The pizza with the famous crown is delicious. The dough is light and airy and made with fresh ingredients. The service is great, very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately the tables are a bit small, they are bistro tables and could be bigger. All in all, everything turned out very well. I'd love to come back.

I went there with a friend who is an English speaking person who can’t speak German. The waiter refused to speak English with her and I had to translate for her, which I found was very insulting to her. I know not everyone knows English but if you work in the restaurant industry, you should at least speak some English and know the very basic vocabulary. Moreover the menu is in Italian, a language we both didn’t speak so we ordered the best looking pizza from the pictures I found here. Why there is no German or English menu is so astounding to me. I know they probably want to be an authentic Italian restaurant, but creating a very unnecessary language barrier is not the way to authenticity in my opinion. The San Gennaro pizza was tasteless and bland, especially for that price point. The under part of the pizza was so burned… A positive thing I can mention is that the service was fast.

Very tasty pizza (probably the best in Zurich), friendly and efficient service. 100% recommended. I give 4/5 only because the prices are surprisingly high for Schlieren.

We'll definitely go there again. Whether as a Fsmile, team meal or with customers. It's definitely worth it. You can taste the selected ingredients in the pizza. The service is also very attentive.

Ended up in this pizzeria after it was featured in watson as one of the top 100 pizzerias in the world and this one being in Switzerland Zürich!!! Definitely a good pizzeria but I am not sure if it belongs to the top 100 best in the world!!! Huhuuuuuuuuuuiii

The pizzas (Neapolitan style) are great and definitely worth a visit. Since moving to Schlieren, the restaurant has lost a bit of its charm. The service was very friendly, but we had to wait too long for our pizzas and couldn't eat at the same time. The range of pizzas could be expanded a bit. For example, it only had tirasmisu as a dessert and there was only one specialty beer available, out of three on the menu.

I ate a Margherita pizza. The pizza wasn't good. The sugo was sour, the dough was too rubbery and the topping was too full. I couldn't finish the pizza properly. Service, arrogant and unprofessional. A Margherita for 22.50 chf is too expensive. It has better places to eat a good pizza.

Delicious authentic Pizza Napoletana..very good airy light dough! The tomato and fior di latte tasted amazing...24-30 chf for a pizza is a bit expensive but it is worth it for the authentic taste. When I tasted it I felt like I was back in Napoli

The best Neapolitan pizza in Zurich and surrounding areas. Light and tasty dough, fresh and quality ingredients. Coming back is always a pleasure and a guarantee, it never disappoints.

The pizza base is too soft and the prices are way too high. The selection is also sparse. For vegetarians there is a pizza with sugo and buffalo mozzarella for 27.50 SFr.

I've had better pizzas. I ordered a salami pizza which got a lot of salami. 5 slices aren't a lot, but at least it's a very good pizza. The edge was pleasant, but the dough in the middle was too thin. All in all, quite good, but not enough.

I visited the pizzeria for the first time shortly after it reopened in Schlieren. Unfortunately, the ambience wasn't that good because everything wasn't there yet (e.g. flickering lights), but the food made up for it. This was the best Margherita pizza I can remember! Overall great, small disadvantage with a small vegetarian selection at rather higher prices.

Order never delivered on December 31 because no more pizza dough available. Really very disappointing on their part given the rating they have on google

If someone says it's the best Swiss pizza has never been to Tersin/ Ascona. Every second pizza there is better.

Pizza was only lukewarm and full of liquid, but tasted okay. Service is top and friendly. Not much ambience (wallpaper is peeling off the walls, almost no decoration, everything seems a bit cheap and improvised).

Update from the location in Schlieren. Service has improved. Friendly and with the right velocity. Visited 18/11/23 Pizzas are good. A little less liquid from the tomatoes would be better. All in all a solid pizza delivery. Small pizza menu with some classics missing. Drinks menu is small. Stick to beers. Location is nothing to write home about. Very bare bone. Come and go for the pizza. Is the best pizza in Schlieren by a light year. Hope they improve the decoration of the restaurant. Looking forward to come back and enjoy a pizza again. Below my review of old location in 2022 Maybe this was an off nght for the team... looked forward to great pizza, a nice setting. I was received super friendly by the gentlemen at the entrance. Super friendly. Thank you again. Got a nice table thank you! We ordered wine the selection is very small and recommend to stick with beer or water. The glasware is subpar for the wines on offer. Ikea and wholesalers offer cheap glassware for large restasurant with a better wine expérience. Not expecting Zalto evendo this would be nice. After a while we ordered pizza and unfortuntelz had to wait a long time. There do not seem to be enough service staff for so many tables. After around 35 minutes and asking multiple times moderately warm pizza arrived. The pizza was nice but not top 80 great. Have been to too many places and as said perhaps the team had an off night. Taste was fine just a nice pizza just not great. Not a fan of the massive olives on the pizza and the bite structure of these was not great. Please upgrade the olives. Tables around us had services break downs as well. No cutlery etc. Tried the marinara which was ok. The bill took a long time and the restaurant was unable to provide one bill for the different items instead got multiple tickets. All in all an remote OK experiences that has areas of improvement. Heard it is better on the terace in the summer. Still a decent pizza fix. Hope it improves.

Excellent pizza as usual, it's a shame that they have increased the prices dramatically compared to a few months ago. And already at that time, pizza wasn't given away as a gift. I understand that we are in Switzerland, but paying more than 40 chf for a beer and a pizza and a beer is too much! Too bad, I doubt I will return, among other things the new location is far from the center of Zurich.

My expectations were very high, according to the report in the Limmattaler Zeitung from San Gennaro in Schlieren since the beginning of October 23rd. + Pizza to look at - great... but -- nothing was crispy (I informed the boss) -- rubbery, very tough, thin dough -- little documented Capricciosa -- was very disappointed with the tiramisu -- too expensive or upper price range -- uncomfortable, very spartan and loud location with lots of white lampshades -- hardly any German speaking staff That's why I'm extremely disappointed with a real Italian - what a shame!!!

The pizza is good, but not cheap either. I'm not a fan of imported drinks (like Italian mineral water, we have enough of our own brands) and therefore wanted a Rivella. This is not in the range. Overall good, but price-wise on the high side

The pizza wasn't really edible. The salsiccia was extremely dry and we could hardly eat it. The dough was too thin in the middle and became completely soft. We got a tiramisù which wasn't the best either. The service was very friendly and absolutely solution-oriented. Charging CHF 31.00 for a pizza like this is absolutely excessive. The experience at San Gennaro was disappointing. The lack of a lunch menu was frustrating, and the price for four people at lunch (4x pizza prosciutto, 4x drinks and 4x espressos) of an impressive CHF 158.- was excessive. Although the food was good, it should be noted that this was our first and definitely last visit.

+The dough is delicious. -Unfortunately the cheese/tomato sauce made the dough soft. +I also liked the brilliant crust. +The Cola alternative was great! I really liked the atmosphere. The waiters could be a little happier.

The pizza is quite ok and the ingredients are fresh and high quality. The staff is friendly and prompt. The prices for the pizza and drinks are absolutely outrageous. The water filtered from the tap costs Fr. 6.90 and a beer from Napoli costs a proud Fr. 7.90 The atmosphere is very sparse with narrow tables. The first and last visit for me.

We were in the Schlieren, in the new location! It's still very great like the other one, a little smaller. But the pizza was very tasty!

The pizza wasn't bad, even if it wasn't as good as always, shame I found a hair, and it was taken off my bill, hence 3 stars, my friend ordered a coke and another drink arrived without informing us who didn't have the original one. The place is small and the tables are crowded together. The room manager, since we had to wait despite the reservation, kindly offered us a drink, but we never actually had anything in our hands.

Prices are completely exorbitant, 30 Stutz for a below-average pizza is just cheeky. The dough itself is okay, but the base is not crispy, completely soggy and wafer-thin. The topping was also minimal, and an extra charge of 2 francs for 4 slices of mushrooms isn't even possible. The sauce was very thin and watery. There is no atmosphere, it is very loud, narrow and nothing gives you the idea that you are in an Italian restaurant. Never again!

Pizza was served very quickly. Pizza good but not wow. The dessert, homemade tiramisu, is highly recommended! Prices are unfortunately too high for my experience as the atmosphere is very simple with a paper base instead of a tablecloth and there is also a wardrobe missing, especially for the coming winter time. Staff is very nice.

The same pleasure as always!!! I have had the pleasure of having been to this pizzeria more than once. I've really always eaten high quality Neapolitan pizza at San Gennaro, with smart and very friendly staff. As for the price, sorry but we are in Zurich so nothing absurd. Unfortunately the prices are high. The good tasting pizza doesn't help either. You quickly lose your appetite.

I had dinner here with my wife. The first thing I noticed was the tasteless decoration/furnishings. I think it's inappropriate for an Italian restaurant. The visually somewhat unappetizing pizza also tasted the same. Plus the disproportionately high prices. So that was my last visit here.

We're not there, pizza to be completely reviewed. Remove the salami from the capricciosa please, from the ingredients it looked more like a 4stagioni. The tiramisu biscuits should be soaked in coffee. Prices too high

I gave a top rating here a few years ago when they were still in Zurich. Now they are in Schlieren and it's just a disappointment, a Margherita 25 francs??? Who do they think they are? Pizza is the cheapest thing a restaurant can make and is still considered poor food in Italy. These people really make me feel ashamed as an Italian. The pizza was really the best in Zurich back then, but in Schlieren it wasn't really up to par. Too bad

Pizza is ok but definitely not worth this heavy price increase! Atmosphere is lousy and cheap without music. Way too expensive and the service sucks. Nobody speaks german! They will not survive in Schlieren with this pricing and bad service. Not recommended.

So if you want the worst pizza ever with the most miserable service at a totally inflated price, I can recommend this pizzeria. Guaranteed never again. I'd rather buy a can of cat food.

I wouldn't complain too much about the service, as the place has just opened and processes etc. still need to be practiced (in our case, the waiter was quite friendly, by the way). BUT the prices are totally exorbitant. Schlieren is certainly no longer a low-priced place, but still. Everything is expensive except for 1 pizza for 18.- which has nothing on it except tomato sauce. The pizza tasted good, but I know several places that offer better pizza for much less money. With the prices, I can't imagine that the restaurant will survive in this location for long.

Everyone wants to make Neapolitan pizza and then you find the Turkish guy on duty, inedible dough, burnt edge, raw inside!!!!! Skyrocketing prices, rude and arrogant staff, never again! There are no longer the staff there used to be, they worked with passion, now they treat you like animals! I'd rather eat at home than have a stomach ache.

Second time eating at San Gennaros, first time in Schlieren. While the Pizza was certainly fluffy and springy, the undercarriage was crispy, the center was a bit undercooked and the dough was overworked and a bit chewy. We were seated fast, but waited for a good 15min, before somebody came, despite raising the hand multiple times. The IKEA lanterns makes the atmosphere feel cheap, which the Pizza is the exact opposite. Even for Zurich those prices are on the very upper limit. Tiramisu was ok. The cream was nice and on the thicker side. But the ladyfingers were inconsistent with some of them quite dry and not soaked enough. All in all it's not worth the hype. If I had to rank doughs in Schlieren, Pizzaway still beats everyone with acceptable pricing, consistent thin crust, good service.

Update: They moved in a new location and they changed all the staff so don't rely on old reviews! It used to be my favourite place for genuine Napolitean pizza in Zurich but... you can increase the price of 1-2CHF not 6-8CHF in less than one month! After this heavy increase of price I will never come back for sure! There are equivalent alternatives with normal prices just 500m far. Fame and word of mouth has ruined you, a real shame 😔

Edit: Prices have increased horrendously. At the time of this edit, they are NOT in line with the rest of the pizzerias in Zurich anymore (25chf for Margherita, while last year it was 18.50?!? A 35% increase can't be justified). The pizza might be 5*, but I will definitely go somewhere else. Top notch pizza in Zurich, among the best I've ever tried overall. The quality of the ingredients is outstanding, as well as the dough. After finishing lunch you don't feel heavy, as the pizza is airy and well leavened. Prices are, of course, a bit high but in line with the rest in Zürich. We stayed in the terrazza with the view on the river, very cute! Beware it might get noisy, especially for dinner: despite not being very full for lunch, we still had to speak a bit loudly to each other.

Got super expensive recently, can no longer recommend. CHF 30 for a Margherita is a rip-off.

Great location by the river, we had a great table, the food was excellent, the pizza was legendary and the service was extremely friendly, efficient and courteous.

Had a pizza with my wife during a nice summer evening. The terrace provides a wonderful environment, and our two pizzas were outstanding!
