San Lorenzo in St. Gallen

Value for money is hard to beat in the city of St. Gallen. They are very friendly and it is delicious. But it's also intended more for the masses, so loud and fast, not exactly a candlelight atmosphere, but you can still eat comfortably. I love Pasticcio di Paste (three different types of pasta and sauces)

The three of us went out to eat at San Lorenzo for the first time. Would be super surprised, we ate very tasty with top service and tipical Italian flair. We'd love to come back.

Everything was very pleasant and the food was very good. When making the reservation they couldn't tell me whether they accepted Gastro SG vouchers and in the end they explained to me that they only accept their personal vouchers. Why not when you make your reservation??????

Great place , pizza was great too. Friendly service I don't know if they have only few servers. It took long time to get bill. The rest of the tables also were waiting too. Nice place to visit again. Service*** Recently we visited again. The food was great, pizza delicious like always. But the service... They ( again) didn't ask how was everything or if we needed something else. Nobody took our plates when we were done. They saw that were showing the card to pay and they ignore us. Too expensive for the service... * Only two tables

Unfortunately this time it was more than disappointing. Have come to eat several times. Actually always very nice. This time the service was subpar. Served grumpily and then quickly cashed in because it was supposed to close immediately. Why you accept the food and say nothing is a mystery to me.

I feel like I've been transported back to a time when even more effort was put into the food, the ambience and the service. As was customary in the past, there is also home-made coffee and schnapps after the meal. Great value for money, in my opinion pizza is unrivaled in the area, especially now that many have given up a lot on quality. Partly covered in white, accompanied by candlelight.

An Italian restaurant located in the old town of St.Gallen, near the cathedral. The open-air seats allow the breeze to pass through and feel refreshing. It's casual, but the taste is perfect, and the pizza is unusually thin and crispy. Cheerful conversations in Italian from various nearby tables. It's also loved by Italians.

Quick service a little too much salt in the risotto

The restaurant is located in the middle of the city. Nicely decorated. Staff was friendly but disorganized. We had to wait a long time until we could place the order, until the food came and finally the bill. I think they were understaffed and/or overwhelmed. The food was good, I also asked for olives on my pizza and it was received easily.

Very nice Italian restaurant. Serves delicious pizzas, pasta and other delicious menus. The menu comes with a small dessert and an expresso.

We had to wait 40 minutes before we could order and only had our food after over an hour despite a reservation! The pizza was average. The staff is also unfriendly.

My mother hated her birthday & she asked how old my mother was and my mother said guess what, she simply said my mother was as old as her mother 60 years old, that's what they say Not plus I was ignored when I wanted to ask something and just ran away. & when we wanted to pay we had to go in because the service daughter didn't listen and walked away again! a pure disaster!

I was received in the worst possible way. I was left to wait for a while even though I had been seen, the service was lousy, no smile, no kindness. It costs 26chf for a tomato cut into pieces with burrata and toasted bread and 6.50 for 5dl sparkling water. In short, don't go there

Last time we were there the pizza was horrible. Too bad, because it used to be good! I think the management or something changed some time ago. The pizza dough and crust are not tasty anymore and way too thin, the ingredients almost inexistent.

A service team that is well adapted to the Lunchrush at a sunny summerday. Pizze are thincrust, tasty and on the larger side (normal) with smaller seize option available. Standard SOP is to serve a complimentary small dessert, espresso including digestif which is laudable.

Located in the beautiful city center of St. Gallen, this Italian restaurant is highly recommended. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We felt comfortable, although some of the music took some getting used to (not Italian). The ambience could have been better. The bread basket beforehand was nice, but it was missing some oil. The bread/rolls seemed a bit dry. But they tasted good. The lasagne dish was a great portion and also very tasty. It was nice that Parmesan was also served. The asparagus was also very tasty, only the potatoes were missing, which we could have ordered additionally. But we only noticed this when the plate came and the potatoes weren't on it. All in all, a delicious restaurant with good value for money.

Went there for the first time 19 years ago, the last time 12 years ago - until yesterday. Your Gnocchi al Pomodoro e Panna are unforgettable for me and they are still completely convincing. Even the next generation of gnocchi fans loved it. 3x gnocchi with top marks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Thank you for the great service, the jokes with the children and me and of course for the ice cream, espresso and amaretto offered. It was an experience of hospitality that is often missed in other places. Please keep it up. We will soon test your gnocchi in Winterthur.

The food is very good, but we had to wait 45 minutes and then it took forever until it was cleared away and the bill arrived, even though there were 6 waiters chatting with each other in the kitchen...

Food was really good and recommended. But what was a disgrace was that we ordered a small portion of fries for our 2 little girls (3&4y) and asked if there was a schnitzel with it. The answer, clearly no problem. Then came 2 large portions of Piccata Schnitzel with fries! Cost: 2x42.- + 10.50 = 94.50 for 2 small portions of fries with schnitzel. Answer from the waiter: Meat can only be ordered in large portions. Answer from me as a guest: Restaurant not recommended with children.

Delicious pizza, but the service is sometimes a bit scheduled and hectic. Sometimes you have to ask several times, which is why you sometimes have to take some time with you, as some service staff don't speak good German and then have to call someone over themselves, but it depends on the day. Lunch with starter, main course and dessert + cappuccino. Price-performance absolutely ok.

We drifted through autumnal St. Gallen and spontaneously decided to ask for a table at San Lorenzo. Although the restaurant was very busy, we were offered a table for four. As a starter we had tomato mozzarella or tortellini in brodo. The fresh ripe tomatoes were tasty and the brodo of the tortellina was true to the original with chicken broth (Brodo di Capone). The spaghetti aglio e olio that followed was tasty. Pasta al dente, sauce spicy but not too spicy. The venison medallions in a mustard-honey sauce were tender and the combination was surprising, as the usual game cream sauce was not added. Finally, the real Italian espresso from a roastery in Piedmont, which rounded off the dinner. Also worth mentioning is the wine list. Small pearls can be found on it. Grappa in large bottles is also not available everywhere. A dinner to repeat again and again!

The visit to the San Lorenzo restaurant, which is located in the middle of St. Gallen, was excellent. The beautiful furnishings create a warm, elegant atmosphere that makes you feel “homey”. The food was excellent and no wish remained unfulfilled. I had the pleasure of being served by a young, motivated waiter. I was also able to get to know the manager of the restaurant personally. Right from the start he gave me a welcome feeling with his charismatic manner. All in all, the visit to the San Lorenzo restaurant was perfect and I can recommend anyone who is in the St. Gallen region to visit this restaurant.

We have been visiting the restaurant for a long time. We always received very friendly service in the past, which is why we often came back. However, I noticed the last two visits negatively. I suspect the waitress wasn't having a good day, but you definitely shouldn't let that out to the guests. We were never asked how the food tasted and we had to publish the dessert menu ourselves. You had a bad conscience calling the waiter because he always reacted a bit annoyed. We also used to get coffee and amaretto on the house. We were able to get rid of that. Food was always good, except last time my pizza was a little underbaked. It wasn't bad, just disappointing compared to before. We will therefore now prefer another pizzeria.

Quite a classy Italian, warm restaurant with very nice decor, comfortable surrounding, and a nice ambience. The menu prices are reasonable although not cheap eats but can you expect that in Switzerland. They do have English menus and the staff are very friendly and professional. The kitchen is right open on the side of the restaurant which provides quite easy access and quick delivery of your meals. The restaurant is just off the side street from the main thorough fare. Food is delicious at San Lorenzo. The wonderful waiter brought us (without prompting beautiful after dinner coffee & Liqueur) which was so thoughtful and delightful.

We have been visiting this restaurant again and again for over 20 years. Although the hosts have changed, the quality of the food and the ambience have not changed. The lunch menu in particular is unbeatable in terms of price-performance ratio! So I can only recommend this restaurant. It's always well attended and that speaks for itself!

Have been to San Lorenzo again for a long time. Unfortunately the owners have changed, which had to be seen negatively. Pizza was almost cold, spagetti aglio e olio actually had no garlic on it and in the end we were simply given a dessert without being given a choice or even asking... The staff didn't make any effort to serve us. It's a shame, another good restaurant that takes a turn for the worse...

Great salad dressing and delicious pizza

We recently went for pizza. We were served by an older man with a bald head, the food was excellent, but the service was a disaster, he never really listened to us, we always had to call if we wanted something, otherwise he always stood around in the kitchen with his hands crossed In my opinion it doesn't look nice and is unprofessional. Very unfortunate.

Pizza was very tasty. Good atmosphere and great service. Highly recommended, I'll be back!
