Schiffsteg in Zürichsee (ZH)

After a walk on the wine trail from Uerikon to Stäfa in autumn, I had a gelati here. Later the ship took me to Rapperswil. It was a great afternoon excursion.

Food is so-so... Operation daily form is crucial.

It wasn't the first time we've been here, we'll definitely be happy to come back again and again, because you feel comfortable here, warmly served with very good food, and by the way with an almost unbeatable price-performance ratio, bravo and that right on the lake at the boat dock.

The ambience was great, but the food was terrible. The salad with samosa was just a few lettuce leaves with soy sauce. The Simosa was bought somewhere and fried. For 30.- a scandal. The sweet and sour sauce tastes like any other. The fries tasted half stale and were not homemade. Never again!

Prices are totally exorbitant, seating is primitive, food is expensive but not recommended. There are nicer places on the lake

So what say we were there yesterday at 9 p.m., sat down and waited. Then there was waiting, waiting, waiting and waiting until we decided to get the card ourselves at 9:20 p.m. Then we waited again! A full 40 minutes from sitting down until we were able to place an order that we had to request ourselves. The food came quickly, wasn't bad but wasn't so good that it would make up for the 40 minute wait. Last but not least, there was a waiter whose way of working was an absolute “no go” in my opinion! We had a bill of plus minus 60.- of which 10.- in coins and a 4.- tip. The waiter's statement was "oh my god what is that!" In an absolutely condescending tone! Incomprehensible to me, you earn your money from visitors, whether coins, notes or cards, it's all worth the same! I don't recommend

Right on the lake and pier. The bistro has plenty of food and drinks including an ice cream menu. Very friendly staff and well attended. I have been here from Germany several times and have always been satisfied.

Consistent, fine food and good service.

Nice place by the lake. If the weather is nice, it's best to reserve a table in advance. We recommend the Swiss Güggeli or Faustfisch. There are also vegetarian dishes. There is something for every taste.

The view over the lake from the Bistro Schiffsteg is breathtaking, and the hosts are very friendly and attentive despite being busy. All around a wonderful experience every time.

Cozy place in the summer months, reservations in the evening are an advantage.

Unfortunately a big disappointment. Güggeli and Fischknusperli (bland, fatty frozen eggs in industrial dough) tasted like they were in a cheap canteen. There was a Sweet'n'Sour ready-made sauce for the Güggeli (because of the Malaysian influence of the associated restaurant "Salzwaage"?). However, the prices are steep (29.80 Fr. for crispy fish with salad, 18.80 Fr. for half a Güggeli with salad). Unfortunately this is not an isolated case on Lake Zurich. It's a shame about this beautiful place right on the water.

Great and simple. Suitable for families and kids. take patience with you because service is a little slow due to the crowds that flocking to this place. Great view of the lake (with the correct tables.) Only minus is that smoking is not forbidden.

Very friendly location in the harbor of Stäfa. It's a good place to stop for an uncomplicated meal or an aperitif in a casual atmosphere. There are sufficient parking spaces in the immediate vicinity and the train station can be reached on foot in 5'. The scheduled ships dock at the bistro. The employees are friendly and accommodating. The harbor facility in the historic center of Stäfa is a gem.

They were ignored, then left again after 15 minutes and wanted to get an ice cream from the ice cream stand. Extremely incompetent staff there too, and I got the wrong ice cream...NOT RECOMMENDED!

Great place to go for frites and a drink and soak in gorgeous views of the lake. This place can fill fast, so be prepared for a little bit of a wait. People will hang around looking for people to leave their table so be astute! The fried food here is delicious and the drinks are well made. As other reviewers have pointed out, the service is highly variable. Sometimes you’ll have someone who is attentive and kind, other times it will be as if there is no staff at all. Still recommend because its a really nice place to be, especially on a warm summers evening.

Small but with a view of the lake.

I like this place but some waiters are very rude. I don't go more often because of that. Sometimes I'm lucky to have a nice waiter but when that doesn't happen it takes long time until I get back again. Not nice go to a place and not be sure if it will pleasant.

We didn't have a reservation and spontaneously wanted to eat something in the bistro. Unfortunately we were ignored and two people who arrived later were asked to sit at a table. When the couple wanted to give us the table, the boss didn't want to give us a table (everything was fully booked). After some back and forth she was unfortunately very unfriendly, so we left.

A wonderful viewpoint and food to match.

This used to be quite a unique destination, but since it was taken over a couple of years ago, it has progressively gone downhill. The service staff, in particular the female Maitre D, are unfriendly and inefficient. We called in today for drinks. We had to ask for our order several tines and waited more than 30 minutes for our bill. It's a great shame that such a great location is being undermined by indifferent and arrogant service.

Nach 1h Wartezeit auf Tartare und Salat und 3xigem Nachfragen, waren wir im Begriff zu gehen, da war plötzlich alles fertig. Nur aufgrund des grossen Hungers sind wir geblieben. Essen war ganz ok, aber den Preis nicht wert. Als Entschuldigung gab es 1Kugel Eis umsonst.

Nice place good value for money and service

We decided to give this place a try as as we were in the area.The staff have no idea of customer service at all! The first waiter said he was unable to take orders but failed to tell the waitress we were waiting for service.She was serving everyone but us so we walked out.In the current economical climate with Tourism struggling,places like this can easily go out of business and deservedly so if they treat their customers like this.Do not bother eating here!

Tolle Lage am See, aber das ist auch schon alles. Essen war völlig lieblos angerichtet. Grillgemüse ohne Salz oder irgend etwas auf den Grill gelegt und serviert. Fenchel und Auberginen waren roh. Kostet aber stolze 13.50 ! Personal gieng auf Beanstandung nicht ein... „ es sei ja NUR Grillgemüse“ Drink kam im Plastikbecher....Toilette war schmutzig Schade ....

Völlig überteuert und sehr unfreundlich! Wegen der tollen Lage wollten wir schon lange mal ins Schiffsteg Bistro in Männedorf. Das Essen ist total überteuert und sehr lieblos angerichtet in Blechschalen wie Hundenäpfe. "Den Vogel abgeschossen" hat dann aber die "Chefin". So unfreundlich, herablassend und arrogant wurden wir noch nie bedient in einem Restaurant! Sehr schade um die tolle Lage direkt am See....aber zum Glück hat es ja viele andere Alternativen rund um den Zürichsee!

Actually a dream location! Unfortunately, the staff leaves a lot to be desired. Professional and friendly is different (often people gossip about staff who aren't there, uncoordinated service, asking umpteen times what was ordered, collecting money because it's the end of the day even though the guest is still eating, etc.) It's a shame, it's a shame ... And yet I am always drawn to this wonderful place.

We went there on 3 consecutive nights. Food is simple but wholesome Highly recommend their artichoke salad and chicken, and of course the iceceeam to follow. Service was impeccable

As we arrived I had big hopes hence the view was amazing but I was disappointed. The waiter was not able to speak german. I ordered the Chicken Wings "à la discrétion". They were stomach-churning... Do not order the "Chicken Wings". I have warned you...

Ich war letzte Woche das erste Mal im Schiffsteg. Ohne Reservation wollte ich am Samstagabend mit meiner Begleitung etwas Essen gehen.Bei unserer Ankunft waren alle Tische besetzt oder Reserviert (selberschuld,reservieren lohnt sich), wir konnten uns aber noch ein Platz an einem Hochtisch direkt am See ergattern. Das Ambiente ist einfach perfekt. Das Lokal ist jung, dynamisch und modern. So auch der Service, ich fühlte mich sehr wohl und wurde freundlich Bedient. Das Essen was extrem lecker und die Drinks perfekt gemixt, leider ist es nicht ganz günstig.. Für mich hat sich der Besuch aber trotz der etwas teureren Preise gelohnt. Ich komme bestimmt wieder!

Simple bistro but at a great location

I really liked the place! The tables are right next to the pier, and every passing ship is like a real adventure!!! The service is fast and individual approach to everyone. The owners and waiters already know the tastes of their regular guests and treat them like family! Prices are reasonable.

Not only is the bistro strategically located, it is also very cozy. The prices are okay for Stäfner standards. The café tastes good, the service is friendly. The ice creams are recommended. The view of the lake and the ships arriving and departing are on top of that.

Many thanks to all sailing helpers! Were completely surprised by the thunderstorm downwind in Zug in the port of Stäfa. The port of Stäfa is critical for non-insiders in strong winds!

Next to the lake, good and quite cheap food, only open when the weather is nice.

The impressive lake view crowned the excellent dessert served by friendly and attentive service staff. Solid tablecloths refine the dishes. Small but nice says how it is. Convince yourself!

Abgesehen von der verloren gegangenen Ambiance (das Aussergewöhnliche fehlt) kommt das Bistro wie eine gewöhnliche Ketten-Fastfood-Beiz ohne kulinarischen Anspruch mit oberflächlichem Service daher. Das Essen war eine grosse Enttäuschung, den stolzen Preis nicht wert.Als Geschirr dienen Blechnäpfe wie in einem Gefängnis, stillos! Keine Tischsets.Können das Bistro heute nicht mehr empfehlen. Orientieren uns neu.

Super fine cheese! Eh super easy to use and a great location anyway

Die neue Führung hat zwar versucht, eine etwas hippere Atmosphäre in die Location zu bringen - allein, wirklich gelungen ist dies nicht. Holzbänke sind nur zum kurzfristigen Verweilen- dann wird es unbequem. Gespräche über den Tisch erfordern laute Stimme. Der Service war sehr freundlich, aber überaus schleppend. Verpflegung durchschnittlich. Preise nicht eben familientauglich. Dafür ist die Sicht auf den See und die Schiffe wunderbar.

Direkt am See unter Platanen an gepflegten Holztischen zu sitzen ist einfach herrlich. Alles ist sauber und nichts wackelt oder ist schief. Die Sonnenschirme spenden zusätzlich Schatten, sehr schön. Wir waren nicht das erste Mal hier und es wird jedesmal besser. Der Service ist nun eingespielt, alles läuft freundlich, schnell und effektiv ab. Die Karte ist klein aber gerade richtig so am See. Die Chefin ist auf Zack und nimmt sich der Kundschaft an, super.Die Bratwurst war gut und die Trüffelpommes der Knüller! Der Cheescake und Zetschgenkuchen unschlagbar. Wir kommen schon bald wieder.

Ich war jetzt schon dreimal dort, dies eigentlich wegen der Lage und nicht wegen dem Essen. Das Essen ist nicht fein und zudem überteuert. Die Bedienung nicht aufeinander abgestimmt und sehr verkaufsgetrieben. Die Geschäftsführerin ist zudem sehr unfreundlich und wollte uns weismachen, dass wir einen gespritzten Weisswein nicht von einem Rosé unterscheiden könnten.

Warum muss immer unnötig wichtig getan werden. Wir waren zu dritt und wollten nur Kaffee trinken an einem Tisch mit einem Zettel, reserviert 11:30. wir waren um 10:20 da, als uns die Bedienung etwas sehr blöd anmachte dass dieser Tisch reserviert sei. Sie hat dann begriffen dass unser Kaffee längst getrunken ist und wir wieder weg sind. Danach war die Bedienung dann auch wieder etwas freundlicher. Kunden könnten auch wieder kommen aber so?

For a visitor to Switzerland, the food prices often seem high but we were shocked at the prices here. Terrific location and view. Skipped the food and order a drink and enjoy the setting.

Schönes Restaurant direkt am See. Leider lässt die Bierauswahl zu wünschen übrig. Es gibt nur Hürrlimann Bier. Die Schweiz verfügt generell ehr über wenige gute, schmackhafte Bruereien aber Hürrlimann gehört nun wirklich nicht zu den Guten. Wenn sich die Biersorten noch ändern würden, wäre das Restaurant wirklich empfehlenswert
