Schmitte in Grindelwald

The fondue was middling with some nice bread and potatoes. One member of our group is gluten free, and they were accommodating. On the other hand the service was poor. The waitress was harried and rude, they never refilled our wine (after taking the bottle away from our table), it was clear that the fine dining was prioritized, they gave us the wrong wine, and a number of our orders were not delivered. The overall experience was not pleasant.

Cosy place for fine dining. Went there during group tour. As big group of members, waiting time for the food was bit longer. Overall experience is good.

Wanted to eat something here in September because of the good food on offer. Unfortunately, no one at the restaurant reception even paid any attention to us. After about 15 minutes of waiting and 5 waiters who walked past us (they were not responsible) at peak time 7-8 p.m. and the restaurant was half empty, we left again. We took a little walk around the restaurant but no waitress paid us any attention. Don't want to know how long we would have waited for food or service. With such guest service and host culture, I can only advise against it.

Price ratios very good. The ambience is really nice. Service staff too weak for two of us three people is not possible. Hardly perfect German. Dessert weak, especially iced coffee. Vanilla ball can hardly be found, too much watery coffee content. In doing so, I made it noticeable who I was...I used to be a former chef plus a restaurant tester... You should keep your ears open...Attention, an ex-chef and restaurant tester. As a guest you should inform the kitchen crew immediately. Asparagus fried too cold. Piece of fillet weighing 140 grams, much too small, only got the finish plus a piece of bone emerged. It doesn't work at all. My wife's menu: Was excellent, nothing to complain about. SHE told me that the price ratio was very good. I'm extremely picky about cleanliness from the arrival to the greeting... How is the staff who led us to the table. The service staff friendliness. Helpfulness plus the bill. As mentioned, I have complaints. Salad very good Main course very good except for the bone that I soon choked on. Dessert iced coffee There's no way it could be miserable. And especially when I said that I was a chef and am still a restaurant tester today. Please remember these comments, you can only learn more. What's not possible is 4. Service staff for the 1st table... nongau. Sorry for not a good review. I'm 100% honest.

Gaststübli to be avoided. Had an Eiger burger for 43 CHF that came from the deep freezer and was cold inside. Uninspiring choice of wines. Unfriendly service. A tourist trap

Burger for 43 francs! were lukewarm. Service in High German, ultra snappy style. The furnishings are elegant, but that doesn't outweigh the rest.

We just wanted to grab something quick for lunch. We drove here because of the rating and also because of the lack of parking space. The restaurant felt empty except for 1 person. There were constantly gigging staff around, but no one seemed to really feel responsible for the service. After 10 minutes we were able to order our drinks and were then asked three more times. The food was good but the price was a bit expensive. 106.- for a club sandwich, a Caesar chicken salad and ham cheese toast and 4 drinks. The menu is rather sparse for lunch. So not recommended as a lunch restaurant for tourists.

great service, but very out of date menu and interior/style. The very alpine dress is too dated and the food too plain for me.

We spent 2 superb days in this establishment. The room was simple but very comfortable, we ate very well, whether at dinner or lunch. The buffet is absolutely perfect. Finally, thank you to the staff, very friendly and very attentive. To advice !

Very Swiss type restaurant, very good location next to the Grindelwald railway station. The waiter is attentive, great service.
