I ate the duck breast and had potato gratin with red cabbage. As a starter I had a delicious pumpkin soup. Everything beautifully prepared. After a hike we were very hungry. We weren't disappointed. The service was present and friendly and the rooms had a bright, clean atmosphere. Keep it up.

A little inconspicuous on the outside, at least during the dark season, but really comfortable on the inside. Then we were warmly welcomed and looked after for the rest of our stay. And then this kitchen! We had a lovely evening with our friends that we would like to repeat many times.

Wow delicious! I think the target audience is foodies. The cuisine emphasizes the season with seasonal dishes. The service begins as soon as you enter with the clothes hanger presented. The staff and also the kitchen personally strive to ensure the guests' satisfaction. There was also a birthday surprise today. The atmosphere in the dining room is very cozy, simple and rather rustic. The older house is well maintained and well preserved.

Today we went to Florian Nolting's sauce cooking class. It was a really great experience, the food was fantastic! Florian takes the time to explain each of his steps, answers every question with his very friendly, calm manner, is happy to let you try it out for yourself and shows valuable tips that you can also remember. Syria, the service manager, treated us to croissants, coffee, fine white and red wine and other drinks and her very charming manner. A big thank you to both of them, in my opinion Florian is a great modern chef, with a strong feel for people, awareness of regionality and high quality standards for the products, processing technology and taste when cooking. I can warmly recommend the Schwarzer Bären restaurant to everyone. You won't regret your visit, be it for a cooking class or a fine dinner - we promise! :-) We will be back!

It's an insider tip!!! The rest is cozy and the atmosphere is warm and familiar. The location with the view of Lake Constance is breathtakingly beautiful. My colleague went there for dinner. The service leaves nothing to be desired as does the friendly reception. The food was very tasty and with attention to detail. Service very attentive. 🥂🥗 Above all, we appreciate the peace and comfort... The chef also came at the end and said thank you.🥂🍀 We'd love to come back! Great restaurant in breathtaking surroundings above St. Gallen. Extremely nice staff. Unfortunately we were only there briefly for a drink. But they were received very friendly. If we were nearby, we would definitely be the first choice to come back.

The food is of good quality. There are also vegan versions (main course as well as desserts), which I personally was very happy about. The staff takes very good care of the guests. When the weather is nice you can also eat outside. I can recommend the restaurant even if the prices are on the higher side.

Even a 5-star chef can learn a lesson or two from this. A big compliment also to the service staff - we felt very comfortable. We'll be back - guaranteed!

Very nice and perfect service. Nice excursion restaurant - if only it weren't for the incredibly expensive prices. For lunch we ordered a summer leaf salad with raspberry dressing and shrimps for CHF 23.50 (according to the board). Unfortunately, we didn't know that if we only ordered this salad, it would be charged as a main course and then cost a whopping CHF 42.50. And that for a green leaf salad, decorated with 5 shrimps, some small crosti rolls and raspberry dressing. Unfortunately, this was my last visit here - a shame.

Very bad service, waiting for the food for 1 3/4 hours!!!!! Then I add that you knew that a lot of guests were coming, then you have to organize yourself better! Furthermore, I didn't order a starter because I wanted a dessert. And my main course came at exactly 1:50 p.m In addition, the guests behind us came after us and received the food first. With such long waiting times, in most restaurants you will receive a greeting from the kitchen or a coffee - nothing of the sort at yours.

Excellent food with a beautiful view, what more could you want. At Florian you always get freshly prepared and sensationally good food. Always wonderfully prepared and served by very friendly staff. After starting with a motorhome dinner, we of course eat there too…. It's best to bring your motorhome with you to spend the night, because then you can still have a sip or two of wine. Florian can always find a place in his spacious parking lot.

The menu was again wonderful. We are pleased that campervan dinner is offered.

We spontaneously called on Saturday lunchtime to see if there was still a free spot available for the RV dinner. This was confirmed to us by the boss, Mr. Nolting. When we arrived at the Black Bear, we were greeted very warmly by the boss himself. We were later given the starter pack, including a white tablecloth and candle. Then we were served the food... it was simply delicious and a poem! It was a wonderful evening that we will certainly remember for a long time! A huge thank you to Mr. Nolting, and Syria and Jennifer, who always served us with a smile! It's nice that there are such friendly and competent staff. We'd love to come back. Spontaneously called in the morning to see if the campervan dinner was still taking place and made a reservation for that evening. Despite the rain and inhospitable weather, we received a warm welcome and were able to take our starter pack with us to the motorhome. From then on a culinary journey in a class of its own began. Great service, very tasty food and at the end the owner and chef even came by with an umbrella to see if everything was to our satisfaction. We felt in great hands and enjoyed a brilliant 3-course menu including a white tablecloth and candle in the comfort of our motorhome. The fact that we were able to spend the night in the parking lot was the icing on the cake for a successful evening! Thanks to Florian Nolting and team!!

Excellent cuisine, friendly team and a beautiful location with a view over Lake Constance. Easily accessible by Appenzeller Bahn or car. An overnight stay in the beautiful parking lot with a motorhome is explicitly permitted.

Restaurant is in a great location for exploring St.Gallen. In 10 minutes you can take the train directly to the old town and the train stops directly at the restaurant. We had a campervan dinner here. The view is very nice, unfortunately the service wasn't that great. Very long waiting times. Priced at the upper limit compared to other restaurants. Food was ok but nothing special.

Wir waren am Ostersamstag hier zum Wohnmobildinner. Die Auswahl der Speisen mussten wir schon im Vorfeld bekanntgeben, um den Betreibern die Arbeit zu erleichtern.Als wir ankamen wurde uns ein Platz zugewiesen und uns wurde mitgeteilt, dass wir im Restaurant einen Korb mit Tischdecke, Besteck, etc. holen könnten. Es wurde nicht erwähnt, dass man dann auch die Getränkebestellung durchgeben soll.Als ich den Korb abholte, konnte ich so nicht sagen, welche Getränke meine Frau und mein Sohn wünschen. Die Bedienung versicherte mir, sie komme noch vorbei, um die Getränkebestellung aufzunehmen. Der Zeitpunkt um das Essen zu servieren wurde auf 18:30 festgelegt. Ausserdem hielt die Bedienung fest, dass mein Sohn und meine Frau zu ihren Pommes Ketchup und Mayo wünschen.Zurück am Wohnmobil stellten wir fest, dass ein Glas fehlte und das Tischtuch feucht war!Um 18:30 war noch niemand vorbeigekommen, um unsere Getränkebestellung aufzunehmen. Ca. 18:50 kam dann meine Vorspeise und der Hauptgang für meinen Sohn (Wir wurden nicht gefragt, ob sie das Essen für unseren Sohn gleich mit unseren Vorspeisen oder erst mit unseren Hauptgängen servieren sollen - in einem guten Restaurant sollte man das erwarten können!!!). Getränke hatten wir keine und wenn wir nicht interveniert hätten, wäre dies der Bedienung nicht einmal aufgefallen. Insgesamt waren die Bedienungen überhaupt sehr unaufmerksam und hasteten vorbei ohne auch nur mal zu schauen, ob vielleicht noch ein Wunsch offen wäre. Auch beim Servieren waren sie so schnell wieder weg, dass man kaum noch einen Wunsch äussern konnte. So bekamen wir mit Mühe und Not ein Feuerzeug um die gelieferte Kerze anzünden zu können.Bis dann endlich unsere Getränke kamen, war meine Vorspeise bereits wieder kalt und unser Sohn hatte schon sein halbes Essen fertig. Auf meine Reklamation, dass das so nicht geht, war die Bedienung bemüht und verständnisvoll und versprach, die Chefin des Services vorbeizuschicken.Bis diese dann endlich kam, verging nochmals einige Zeit. Sie fragte nicht einmal, wie sie uns helfen könne sondern sagte nur lapidar, die Apero-Getränke gingen aufs Haus. Erst als ich nochmals sagte, sie könne meine Vorspeise wieder mitnehmen, da die kalt nicht mehr essbar ist, kam die lapidare Ausrede, die Küche wäre zu schnell gewesen - dabei kam das Essen schon später als vereinbart und die Getränkebestellung hatte sie schlichtweg vergessen!!!Schliesslich bekam ich dann doch noch eine warme Vorspeise - da war mir der Appetit allerdings schon vergangen und unser Sohn war bereits fertig mit Essen, als wir erst beginnen konnten.Erst mit Lieferung des Hauptgangs brachte die Chefin des Service dann noch eine richtige Entschuldigung zustande.In dem ganzen Theater bemerkten wir erst im Nachhinein, dass das Mayo und Ketchup für unseren Sohn trotz vorgängiger Bestellung nicht geliefert worden war.Zum Schluss mussten wir unser Körbchen wieder ins Restaurant tragen um dort dann bezahlen zu können.Insgesamt kam uns das ganze wie eine Massenabfertigung am Fliessband vor. Solange alles reibungslos läuft und der Gast sich schön brav an den Ablauf hält, funktioniert alles bestens. Sobald man aber einen Wunsch ausser der Reihe hat, bekommt es das Servicepersonal nicht mehr gebacken.Insgesamt war dieses Restaurant eine riesige Enttäuschung. Einzig der Preis entsprach dem gehobenen Standard. Die Küche war zwar OK aber nichts besonderes und der Service war einfach nur schlecht.

Womodinner beim schwarzen Bären - einfach Bärenstark! Wir hatten uns für das Genussmenü entschieden. Absolut zu empfehlen, der Menuname ist Programm. Nette Bedienung, tolle Aussicht, einfach ausreichend Zeit mitbringen und geniessen!.

Zum zweiten Mal haben wir ein ausgezeichnetes WoMo Dinner im Schwarzen Bären genossen. Florian Nolting und sein Team bieten ganz einfach ein wunderbares Erlebnis mit feinstem Essen, tolle Gastfreundschaft und eine wunderbare Aussicht über den Bodensee. Wir sind mit unserem Camper letzten Freitag nach St. Gallen zum schwarzen Bären gefahren.Zuerst haben wir die wunderbare Aussicht genossen. Das Essen und der Service waren ebenfalls top. Das Essen war einfach sehr gut, nichts auszusetzen und der Service ebenfalls sehr herzlich und freundlich.Die Umgebung eignet sich hervorragend um mit dem Hund zu spazieren.Wir haben einen wunderbaren Abend verbracht.Danke an das ganz Team

So ein kulinarisches und ganz spezielles Erlebnis können wir nur jedem weiter empfehlen!!! Wir sind mit dem Wohnmobil auf den Parkplatz gefahren und haben uns einfach verwöhnen lassen!!! Das Menu war von der Vorspeise bis zum Nachtisch ein grosses Highlight!!! Das sehr freundliche Personal brachte die Speisen unter Glocken warm ins Wohnmobil und so konnten wir bei Kerzenlicht und sehr spezieller Atmosphäre dieses Dinner bestens geniessen. Wir werden ganz sicher wieder kommen!!!! Vielen herzlichen Dank!!

Wir waren da zum Wohnmobil Dinner. Wir haben sehr gut gegessen und wurden äusserst freundlich und zuvorkommend bedient. PS: das Rindsfilet war erstklassig. Vielen Dank.

Ein Restaurantbesuch ist zur Zeit bekanntlich nicht möglich. Umso mehr haben wir uns über das Angebot unserer Freunde gefreut, Sie Ihnen zum Wohnmobil Dinner beim Restaurant Schwarzer Bären zu begleiten. Am Freitag Abend war es dann soweit. Wir trafen uns auf dem grossen Parkplatz des Restaurants. Im Grossen WOMO unserer Freunde durften wir dann ein grossartiges Abendessen geniessen. Das Essen war wunderbar. Die sehr nette Bedienung brachte uns das feine Essen direkt ans Fahrzeug. Obwohl wir ganz in der Nähe wohnen waren wir noch nie im Schwarzen Bären. Das werden wir nach dem Lockdown aber Ändern! Dieses Lokal verdient die Unterstützung. Danke an das Team für den Tollen Abend mit tollem Essen.

Wir sind regelmässige Gäste im Schwarzen Bären und gehen jedesmal glücklich und zufrieden nach Hause! Die Gerichte werden mit viel Liebe zubereitet und schmecken hervorragend. Die Karte ist abwechslungsreich, es ist für alle etwas dabei, egal ob Fleischliebhaber oder Veganer. Wobei wir uns zu ersteren zählen und das sehr zarte Filet, das auf der Zunge zergeht, hervorheben möchten. Die ausgezeichneten Weine runden das Geschmackserlebnis ab. Der Gastgeber empfängt alle herzlich in seinem gemütlichen und schön eingerichteten Restaurant. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Es werden alle Wünsche erfüllt.Aktuell bietet der Schwarze Bären Take away an, und zwar in der gewohnten Auswahl und Qualität! Wir empfehlen sehr, dieses Angebot zu nutzen. Das feine Essen tut der Seele gut. Ausserdem sollten wir alle unsere Gastronomen unterstützen.Vielen Dank Florian, wir kommen mit Sicherheit immer wieder!

Bei schönem Wetter herrliche Sicht zum Bodensee

Das Essen war ausgezeichnet und sehr schön angerichtet. Die Speisekarte bietet eine vielfältige Auswahl, für jeden Geschmack ist etwas dabei. Das Personal und der Inhaber waren sehr aufmerksam - wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Gepflegtes Restaurant am St. Galler Panoramaweg gelegen Nähe ÖV. Schön im Sommer und gemütlich im Winter. Sehr genussvolle Küche mit leckerem Wein. Gehoben und persönlich vom Florian gekennzeichnet.

Vielen Dank für den wunderschönen Abend. Als Vorspeise hatten wir Zitronengras- und die Maroni-Apfel Suppe, das vegane Gericht, Süsskartoffel Dal und das Hirsch-Entrecote.
