Sparky’s in Zermatt

Very friendly staff and great food (and drinks of course), both snacks (nachos are my favorite) and positions from dinner menu.

Big kudos for preparing delicious Thai curry after the kitchen has been already closed! Very tasty and delivered quickly. We also tried Lamb Rogan Josh Curry - this is a MUST, super yummy, especially with mango chutney.

Ordered a Takeaway which was delivered to us in record time, great service in that regard. Unfortunately the food (1 dish in particular) was borderline inedible - so disappointed. Based on all other reviews - perhaps we got unlucky. Korma was so incredibly bitter (almost like my mouth was full of pasty curry powder) before throwing it away I attempted to mix it with the home-made chutney for the poppadoms to salvage the dish. If you are not familiar with Indian cuisine/flavours then this restaurant may suit your palette.

I ate here twice in my 10 days in Zermatt. Once for a curry (I think Moroccan special), and once on Christmas Day. Both times the food was excellent, and great value for Zermatt. A great place you should visit if you're staying here.

My wife and I just spent the evening at Sparky's And had a fabulous meal and fellowship with the owner and staff. The Lamb Curry and Prawn Madras Curry were exceptional (make sorry and get the mango chutney as it is really special) as were the apple fritters for desert. In addition to great food and music, we were treated like honored guest by all. Its no wonder Sparky’s gets such great reviews. He and his staff love what they do and make everyone who walks in feel special.

Sparky’s is predominantly an Indian restaurant with a small menu. Our son doesn’t normally like Indian food but tried the chicken madras then talked about it all week so we had to return so he could have it one more time. He says he still won’t have Indian food at home as he’s now had the best, I must say I agree with him.On the first visit I had the special spicy vegetable tagine very tasty, the second time prawn madras and they were one of the tastiest prawns I’ve ever had in a lovely not overly spicy curry sauce.For Zermatt the prices are very reasonable and anywhere else in the world given the quality.Highly recommend.

Nice cozy pub. We got a few drinks here during one of the games. Service was great and drinks are relatively affordable compared to other places in the area.

A good find for dinner in Zermatt! Whilst the focus is on curries ,there is plenty else to choose from such that my 13 year old son loved the chicken dish with fries and salad. My daughter loved her Thai chicken curry and whilst I would have preferred a bit more spice in my lamb rogan Josh ,nevertheless the meat was very tender and the rice perfectly cooked. Hats off also to the owner for having a very reasonably priced Australian Shiraz as the house wine when the reality is that Swiss wine is generally overpriced.

My girlfriend and I were visiting Zermatt for a short break. I’ve been to Zermatt before a dozen or more times, and tended to go “Swiss” beforehand. As it happens, we had a long hike, were feeling rather exhausted, and looked for the nearest best restaurant rated on TripAdvisor. Sparkey’s was literally a few meters away. We were welcomed by the owner, and Englishman who moved to Zermatt some 30 years ago, with a big smile. The food was good value for the money, and by Indian standards, actually pretty good. What started off as the closest “refuge” turned into a very pleasant venue I will return to again!

Perhaps because this off some of the main roads, and further from the main tourist hubs, the prices for drinks are substantially lower than we saw elsewhere in Zermatt. We walked right past here one day coming back from Schwarzee to our hotel, and decided to stop in for some cocktails before dinner. Everything was good, the proprietor and all the other staff members were very welcoming and engaging, and we didn't break the bank. While we didn't get any food, the smell of the Lamb roganjosh was sublime, so I'd definitely suggest it if someone is in the mood for that type of dish whilst in Zermatt.

So we came here, planned, on one of our nights in zermatt during our honeymoon. Food was good, a welcome break from the swiss german. My wife got a vegetarian stir fry which surprised us, and I got a lamb curry. Both were good. We had a goat cheese salad as an appetizer that was phenomenal. I'm not an Asian food expert any more than the next person, but this felt more like home cooking than an attempt at authentic anything. The atmosphere within is homey & staff is warm.Recommended.

The energy that this place has is so strongly vibrant and warm. We loved the owners of the place... They just made our experience so amazing. Their food, the interaction, their hospitality and their customization. We were so glad to know they serve lentil soup with tomato curry and basmati rice (our very own Indian daal chawal). We had two meals during February half-term in this lovely restaurant. We are always made to feel welcome here and it is a lovely spot to enjoy an evening. His menu is varied and my family have tried many of the dishes but our favourites are the madras curry and the green thai chicken curry! And always finished off with his lovely brownies! The curries had no body or maturity and were a bit flat and watery, with peppery spikes. All of them had no rounded base to support the flavors and the flavors were wrong or too few. Came here after reading reviews on Tripadvisor and I can also confirm that this place is great. Sparky is a great host and runs a nice restaurant! The best food and restaurant we ate in whilst we were in Zermatt! #Ate here with my 2 children, both were welcomed and enjoyed their meals, my only little wish is that perhaps the portions be a bit smaller and cheaper for children as they had to eat adult meals which was too much for them, of course us adults helped them out lol. Food was fantastic, great big portions and so tasty! Didn't have dessert as we were so full up, wish I wasn't as full up as the desserts looked just as tasty!We will be coming back in December and will definitely be visiting again! Sparky is a lovely man, made us feel very welcome!
