Spicy Lounge in Interlaken

The best Asian food we had in Interlaken by far. We had a chicken kottu and an Indian style chicken fried rice and they were so good. The portion sizes were also very good.

My fiancee and I were worried about finding food on our stay in Interlaken. We stumbled upon Spicy Lounge, and it was fantastic. We liked it so much we went a second time, which we rarely do for any restaurant on vacation. Possibly the best Biryani we've had. The masala paneer and sambar were also great.

We a family of 4 had dinner. Food quality and quantity were fair. Quantity was less than normal, especially the vegetarian thali. Rose milk was watery. Taste wise okay type. Columbo style, not Indian style. Overall the food was good.

One server for a restaurant filled with at least 20 people. We ordered multiple items but only a few came out. When asked about others, the server said we didn’t order them. Serving size was not even enough for one person. Maybe that is how it is done in Interlaken. I hope the owner hires more people to take care of the visitors that spend their money at the restaurant. The food didn’t quite meet the mark. I wish them well.

Food ordered : sambar vada Idly Masala poori Masala chai It tasted very good and it’s been long that we came across South Indian restaurant.

I highly recommend this restaurant. Absolutely amazing. If anyone heading to interlaken, you have to visit spicy lounge and try their Vada, masala dosa, biriyani, poori, mango lassi......list goes on. Ask for Gopi and he will look after you. Anazing guy.

Excellent Tamil/Lankan type of cuisine. Also serve Idli, Dosa, Vada, Poori etc along with Kerala Parotta, all kind of Kurmas, Currys, Idiappam, Rolls etc. We had Parottas, Chapatis, Chicken Kurma, Dal Tadka and Chicken Biryani....all satisfactory. Gopi is the co-owner from Jaffnawith an affable personality and service. Thanks for close to home food in Interlaken!!

The worst Indian restaurant in Interlaken. We went to this restaurant with so much enthusiasm because it was a restaurant with authentic South Indian cuisine and everything was shattered in a few minutes. The food was bad to be precise, we took masala dosa and the curry was too diluted with water and not good at all and to drink we took lassi because it's an "Indian" restaurant well clearly we were pissed off because what we got wasn't a lassi but clearly water mixed with yogurt and the service was the worst because we were already seated outside because we had a dog and I had to go get the waiter and no glass or carafe of water or napkin or cutlery until we reminded him that we needed them Haha (he doesn't care about our mouths) and the prices are really ridiculous 23 CHF for a masala dosa which is far from good and on top of all that at the end they asked us several times if we had finished and he wanted us to leave because there were other customers who wanted to be where we were… Hello, is that normal? In any case it's not worth going to this restaurant, the taste of India another Indian restaurant which is to the right is much better. In any case very very disappointed

My visit to the Indian restaurant held great anticipation as it appeared to have immense potential. Alas, while the promise was evident, the actual experience left something to be desired. The cuisine, though not unpleasant, fell short of the heightened expectations that the establishment had initially aroused. Furthermore, the service was disheartening, as we were seated outside, isolated from other patrons, due to the presence of our beloved dog. As we were nearing the end of our meal, an unfortunate incident occurred, as we were rushed to vacate our table prematurely, ostensibly to accommodate another customer's future gathering. This abrupt and somewhat inconsiderate approach left a bittersweet aftertaste to what could have been a more enjoyable evening. While I appreciate the positive sentiment towards the dosa with sambar recommendation, I must admit that my experience was not entirely in line with that sentiment. Although the sambar attempted to maintain its authenticity, it unfortunately lacked the desired consistency, being somewhat watered down. The chutneys also suffered from a similar dilution, which detracted from what could have been an otherwise fantastic dosa experience. Additionally, we decided to explore the Indian chai tea option, a personal favorite of mine. Regrettably, the chai tea served to us had a burnt taste, altering its traditional and delightful flavor. As a result, I found it challenging to consume even half of the beverage, as it did not live up to the usual pleasure I associate with Indian chai tea.

Authentic south Indian food. Have large number of options for vegetarians. We had masala dosa here. Food was fresh, hot and very well done. Service prompt & quick. Location easy to spot. At a walkable distance from Interlaken West train station and also bus stops. Atmosphere very good. Outdoor seating available.

Best desi food in Interlaken. We ordered lot of South Indian dishes including Masala Dosa. Generally, if dosa is good, the Sambar and condiments are not good. In this place, everything is delicious. Even the potato masala and sambar. Great customer service even at the end of the day just before closure. Will certainly come back during our trip.

This restaurant was a blessing in disguise as we were craving for a proper South Indian restaurant having eaten a lot of North Indian and Swiss food. The owner was really welcoming and he made sure we were comfortable. We arrived a half an hour before afternoon closing but still he entertained us and brought us lip smacking food. We really loved the dosa, sambhar rice, kothu roti with egg and South Indian meals. They also serve authentic North Indian food and I am sure you will not be disappointed. Don’t miss this place if you are looking for good Indian food in Interlaken. Thank you again :)

Great place for Indian and sri lankan food. Fish biryani and samosas were great. Kothu could be a little more spicier. Food is freshly prepared so expect some waiting time.

Restaurant found randomly while walking around. The frontage may seem a little cheap at first but once installed you realize that it is still well maintained and pretty in its simplicity. Little Bollywood background video that immerses us in a good atmosphere. Only one waitress who came quickly to take our order, adapting to our language and being smiling and friendly. Well explained menu for people who do not know Indian dishes Our meals arrived quickly and were very good. Small downside, having to limit spicy meals for health reasons, I had asked for no spicy but it was still very spicy. Fortunately, salty lassi helps relieve this. The quantities were generous, we enjoyed ourselves and the prices were very reasonable.

Small restaurant which is not highlighted on the street but which deserves its place there. Quick and friendly welcome, pleasant and responsive service. Fair price for a small starter, drinks and a main course which was well loaded. Be careful for people sensitive to spices, the spiciness quickly becomes very spicy 😅. Well-made menu for people who are not familiar with Indian dishes 👌🏻.

A very ordinary Indian restaurant, the service is slow, and one person works in the restaurant. We tried their buttermilk and samosas, they were delicious, and the biryani.

The food tasted delicious😋 , my wife was vegan and they prepared food without milk., ghee and yogurt specifically for her👏 . Service was quick and they took care of all our needs. Thank you 🙏

We came here based on another review of getting parathas. It was super yummy. Had lamb, fish Biriyani etc every dish was well done - esp when you miss Indian food after long travel in Europe etc

Best south indian food you can find in Interlaken.

We were looking to eat Indian food and decided to eat here as they served South Indian food. It was a good decision. All their food was very nice. It was served hot and had home-made feel. Idlis and vadas were superb. We recommend this restaurant.

Was with family for the dinner. Ordered Masala Dosa, Veg Thali and Veg Biryani. Food serving was delayed due to some confusion. Anyways, the food was awesome, especially Masala Dosa and Veg Biryani. I would say this was the best Masala Dosa I’ve had so far, outside India.

Food is very tasty. If you want to have a food with Sri Lankan taste, this is the only place in interlaken. Highly recommended.

The breyani was really really good! I ordered lamb rolls but it was not what I expected. The only downside of this place is that there are way too many flies that make it difficult to eat.

We ordered masala dosa and Chicken biryani, the sambar was not that good otherwise everything was good.

Had a great time here. The lady serving had great hospitality. The food was great and the ambience was amazing calling a perfect end to our time at Interlaken. Do try out their biryani which is well sort after and the rates are pretty modest in comparison to other Indian resturants in the region if not the country.

Best place to eat south Indian food

Enjoyed the chicken curry - I have always eaten the Punjabi style so this was completely different but delicious. The idli and dosa were satisfactory. Another dish we enjoyed was biryani with raita. The tea was milky - not to my liking but the others enjoyed it. Overall, we enjoyed as we were longing for good Indian food and we did enjoy.

I entered this place accidentally, but I was lucky and don’t feel any regret. Food was great. Staff was courteous, awesome taste. We ordered Paneer masala, Kottu Paratha, Dosa and Veg. Biryani. It was delicious. Not to forget the Plain paratha.. just awesome. My kids loved it with Paneer masala. I would highly recommend this place for Indian food.

Nice place around Interlaken. Some restaurants here are over rated here and this one is a hidden gem. Flavorful biriyani rice and the curries were yum too with a tinge of coconut cream. Absolutely delicious. The place was cozy , neat and very welcoming.Highly recommend if you are craving an Indian meal during your stay.

Food was okay. We bought dosa for dinner. Very expensive but not worthy for the money. Lunch biriyani was good and for thali only 3 dishes they served not worth for money. Overall okay.

Very nice biryanis... Very authentic. But hey as you know there are many varieties of biryanis so take it with a pinch of salt. The staff are hard working and caring. We also had the dosa all chutneys were nice.. the sambhar could be better. The vegetables stew with roti was nice too.

One of the better Indian restaurants in the Interlaken region. The food tasted authentic and tasty, not over-spiced like "Indian" restaurants tend to be. Their chapati was nice and home-like. Tried North and South-Indian dishes and both turned out good.

Very pleasant experience - all ingredients tasted fresh and dosa was nice and crusty. Different levels of hotness/ spiciness without losing the taste. Many of the South Indian options are gluten free by nature as their flour is rice and chickpeas.

It was great restaurant for Desi families who want to enchant themselves with native home made taste, the restaurant has non veg and veg both, the most astonishing is owner’s hospitality and servicing which admires utmost to the tourist. The food is like home made style and economical. I would love to eat again if visited the town -Interlaken.

Being a south Indian myself, undoubtedly the best south Indian food I have had in Switzerland. I have visited with my family and a friend's family - in a 2 day 1 night Interlaken trip, we were back in this place 3 times and that's a testament to their authenticity, taste and service. We have had non-veg thali, poori, south indian paratta/porotta, masala dosa, plain dosa, chicken, lamb and fish curry, chai and all were delicious and light (don't have that heavy feeling which you sometimes get with restaurant food) . Their south Indian paratta (Malabar/Kerala porotta) was absolutely delicious - crispy yet soft. And I'm already looking forward to my next visit. If there is one thing they need to think on improving (yes, even the best have things to work on and improve) is the portions of curries especially - its quite small. But otherwise, amazing food, excellent service and great place.

I had a brilliant Thali meal, great prices, friendly service and my mate Dave reckons he had the best Biriyani ever and he has been to alot of different curry houses!

Fabulous South Indian food. Probably the best I have had in Switzerland. It’s a relatively small family run restaurant, hence manages to be maintain authenticity of flavours and overall quality. Highly recommended!

Opened last year. Very nice food: Masala dosa crispy and delicious. We (two people) also ordered 2 vegetarian curries - fresh and well-balanced. Friendly service. Recommended!
