Spielboden by The Capra in Saas-Fee

Fabulous views and great food. Service can be a little frantic but everyone is trying their best! Possibly a tiny bit understaffed for how busy it can be

That day they were overwhelmed with chaos in the kitchen. After 1.45 hours we canceled the meal.

terribly slow, no distribution of work, poorly organized, forgotten, wrong espresso on the bill. excuse was 'understaffed due to illness'

Good place to eat but I can understand the other comments if there are a lot of people the service can be slow.

Good, but very expensive. Does not offer an alternative to cow's milk for customers with lactose allergies or intolerance; my companion had to give up the café crème ☹️

The staff deserve an Oscar for their friendliness, but the prices deserve a role in a horror movie! I felt like I was in a comedy show, except the joke was on my credit card bill. 6.- for a normal butter gipfeli, which means 12.- for a kafi gipfeli... You'll probably have to go back to the books...

After reading the Google reviews, it’s true that I hesitated. Finally we went there and nothing to complain about. So of course you will pay a coke 6.- for 3dl but unfortunately these are the prices currently in most stations. In terms of drying up, I would say that it’s like elsewhere. On the other hand, the staff was super friendly and the food was excellent! Yes we waited 30 minutes but then we know it too…. There are people there and that’s normal, otherwise you have to go to a restaurant. In short, a big congratulations for the quality of the food and the presentation!

Prices are completely exorbitant, a pepper coin tea (some water and a bag) for an incredible Fr. 6.50 isn't possible, so I'd rather recommend the revolving restaurant Allalin in terms of price.

Disastrous order processing. Wrong coffee served twice, cake forgotten, coffee Baileys given without Baileys. Only English-speaking service. The bill was also a matter of forceps... What a shame, it would actually be a nice mountain restaurant.

The waitress was very incompetent and brought the wrong drink several times. The cake was completely forgotten. At least the restaurant is aesthetic.

Beware of rip-offs. Cola is marked with four francs everywhere, but if you drink it indoors you pay two francs for the glass, which means an additional six francs. If you just take the bottle with you it's four francs!

Had a fantastic lunch at Spielboden recently, it is unrivalled in quality and service in Saas Fee!

Unfriendly staff, very dismissive and overpriced. The only advantage: you can enjoy the view in the warm

15 minutes to place an order, 15 minutes more to receive a tea. Then ordered wrong wine, 15 min to call back the waiter to say wrong bottle. 15 minutes for him to come back to say that there was no bottle ordered. In the meantime meal finished so abandoned the bottle of wine. 20 min to receive the bill. False addition. Finally free tea and carafe of water. We will put this at the start of the season, I hope for them.

Everything in the restaurant is overpriced and you pay way too much for what you get. The staff is very unfriendly and doesn't speak German. You have to know English otherwise you can't communicate. This is a disgrace. Terrible music in the restaurant. Once and never again.

Of course beautifully situated with a view of the 4000m. Staff was friendly and the food was delicious. Price is a bit high for the portion, you probably pay for the view ;-) Still recommended if you're on the play floor and get hungry.

You can look at the marmots up close and feed them. It was very warm that day, so the marmots didn't come out of their holes!

Very poor service, the waiters could not speak English or German, so we hoped that we would get what we ultimately, with difficulty, ordered. The ice cream was tasty!

6.- the 3 dl of lemon water is a shame even at more than 2000 meters of altitude, and 48.-- the return trip in the cable car is rubbish, fortunately we had 3 MagicPasses out of 4, and to think that we drive a year in Switzerland for 40.- on our highways!!! and in Saas-Fee 15 minutes for 48.- shame!!!

No service for ages, even after asking. Cake of the day: Apple cake (Wähe) 8.- Cream 1.5 (is a slice, very small) and so-called raspberry cake 8.- (is Industry Linzertorte), the foreign service doesn't know that this cake is called Linzertorte. Food is overpriced and extremely average, service was lacking (the waiters were slow, inattentive and seemed to struggle to do basic things). My girlfriend got a fly in her wine glass and the waiter said they couldn’t give her another one, my overpriced coca cola was extremely flat. I do not recommend eating here unless you really want the view

Unfortunately, the Cola Zero is not CZ but an overpriced syrup.

Very big potential for improvement. A maximum of 4 tables were occupied on the restaurant terrace. Nevertheless, the three waitresses didn't have time to take orders. The waitress always walked past us and started clearing the prepared tables at 3 p.m. We had to call the waitress over. The waiter didn't speak a word of German.

I won't come back because the food wasn't really good. It speaks English. They are not people from Saas-Fee and I find it very unfortunate.

Cozy athmosphere and a breath taking view over saas fee. We had the spielboden salad and the tomato soup and for dessert the cream anglaise. Superb quality and very friendly staff. We will come again

Restaurant half empty - no service after 20 minutes even a menu. Staff only speaks English. Till now nodded ordered and bye.

It's a shame that the service in the restaurant could hardly speak any German. And that in Switzerland!

The hike there is totally worth it. But it is not an easy one as the description said.

Food and ambience great, service unfortunately terrible. Waited half an hour for the order to be taken and another 15 minutes for the drink. The service didn't speak a word of German. The Gletschergrotta or längfluh restaurant is worlds better and cheaper!

We ordered 3 plates of burratta drumsticks and the Valais plate which was very good with a beautiful view of the mountains to eat 🤤😋

At 3:45 p.m. we wanted to have a drink before taking the last train towards the valley. The waiter only spoke English and didn't understand our order (non-alcoholic juice). He also pointed out to us that they would close in 15 minutes. We still wanted to order something and his colleague came to us. Unfortunately, she then told us that she wasn't allowed to bring us anything at this time (3:45 p.m.!). Not like that - dear Spielboden team!

This used to be one of my favorite restaurant on the mountain. Sadly it seems that with the new management quality massively dropped. Limited menu, small portions, terrible presentation and poor service mostly due to lack of staffing. It is such a shame as the restaurant is in a stunning place and used to be incredible!

The menu is terrible... not a single Valais specialty is served! Instead of a cheese slice there was a warm cheese sandwich with fries... What's that supposed to mean??

Unfriendly, and the marmot food is filled with old bread and old croissants. This makes marmots sick!

There is also a large coffee pot here, very rare in Switzerland, and delicious apple strudel. You can also feed marmots here, they even eat carrots and nuts out of your hand

The Spielboden restaurant is located high above Saas Fee! There is still a lot of room for improvement! Ordered Cola Zero and got Vivi Cola. The guest must be informed! No veal: the waiter suggested making the Wienerschnitzel with chicken. For me, no problem. Only the price of 38.00 should have been adjusted. Price factor 7, proud profit on the last day.

I break out in hives when they charge for the jug of water. I'm ok.

Restaurant Spielboden by The Capra is a wonderful option after a long and tiering day of skiing. A good variety of Swiss and international dishes allows for pretty much anyone to find something of their taste. I can definitely recommend. You should also try their brasserie in downtown Saas Fee for dinner - recommended after multiple visits and stays in the hotel.

The service is super friendly, the food tastes great! Just the wait... Yesterday we waited over an hour for 2 dishes. It was not reported in between that it would take longer. We had to ask ourselves whether it would take long. Did get a drink on the house. It's a shame if you think you're going to go skiing after dinner

Looking for a restaurant to eat between two ski runs, we were very well received in this restaurant. The team is perfect. Very well eaten in a good atmosphere, for a price that remains affordable.

Easily the best on-mountain restaurant in Saas-Fee. Staff were wonderful to our large group of 9 and the service was excellent. Pasta dishes were delicious and only needed the small sizes as they were very generous.

Great place for a nice lunch with great views. The stuff is very nice and you can enjoy good food like the pulled pork hamburger and country fries. We enjoyed a lot and had a very good coffee to finish!

I have never paid that much for a butter croissant CHF 6.00.

The food (soup) was OK, a bit too expensive at 15 francs.

Yup: mediocre food, breathtaking vistas and astronomical prices - not a good enough combination in my view.

I've been there for a long time and it's been beautifully renovated but they didn't even know what a punch was. I'll be back 😍

The service is friendly and it's nice to see them take care of the local marmotte population. The food however, if ridiculously expensive for the mediocre quality you get. Not to mention the very limited choice. Conclusion: good to have drinks and see some cute furry animals but if you're hungry, you better walk a bit further down.

We ate a plate of quality regional products on the way down from the summit. The multilingual service is very pleasant and friendly. Prices are in relation to the destination.

Nice restaurant on Murmeliweg in Saas-Fee. We were served in a friendly manner, but other guests left the house because the service didn't come. Unfortunately there was no draft beer, but that can happen.

Food is good, but very overpriced. It's a shame that a place with so many families has such expensive prices. The interior is nice, but the furniture outside doesn't meet the desired standard. The waitress always only wants to speak English. It doesn't look so good with a pack of cigarettes in the back pocket. Rather unfriendly. It's a shame for such a place in this location.

The Service is really bad. The Personal is not trained. We ordered something to drink and said, that we need some time to decide what we want to eat. The waitress never came back. We waved multiple times at her, but she never really looked around to see us waving. After we finally could order, one dish was severed and the rest of the order took 15 min longer to be served (No, the restaurant wasn't full). The portion were really small for the prices. I'm very well aware, that prices are higher in a mountain restaurant but other restaurants in saas fee are much better and have better prices. And one dish had a hair in it. Just not professional. The bad experience went on. Our glasses were empty and non of the waitresses notice. We didn't even bothered to wave at them again for something more to drink. We only wanted the check. It's just sad. I bet this entry is not even read by them, let alone that something is done. I recommend you take the ropeway to Längfluh and go there for something to eat.

Price performance is not right. Instead of smoked ham in a croque, it comes with cooked one. That doesn't work. Highly priced, even if it's up on the mountain. Service is very friendly!

Service takes a long time even though there are few guests. Friendliness is rather poor. It was great, especially years ago. Now below average. We're not going there anymore.

The drinks tasted like washing up liquid, we paid 4 for a children's syrup. For me that doesn't suit a family-friendly Murmeliweg, especially since there is nothing else for the children.
