Tea-Room Bärenhöfli in Bern

I was there for the second time within 4 weeks. Once with a group (7 people) and now with two people. Ordered the 3-course evening menu both times for €43 and was pleasantly surprised twice. Very nicely prepared and largely convincing in terms of taste. Top price-performance ratio in a central location and very friendly service. I'll be back...

On a Saturday evening in spring, a group of four of us went out to eat in a restaurant. The atmosphere was nicely decorated, making you feel comfortable. The staff came to meet us quickly, was polite and nice. Overall it left a good impression.

Excellent meal. The beef paillard was excellent, served with vegetables and delicious tagliatelle. For dessert, the homemade öpfuchüechli (apple fritters) are delicious, served with different sauces of your choice. The restaurant also serves cocktails, including excellent non-alcoholic cocktails. Pleasant service and location. To recommend.

The service was satisfactory. The vegetables were great, the schnitzel was ok and the fries were a little clumsy. Unfortunately, the water glass was served hot.

The noodles with orange sauce with brie cheese and the vegan nasi goreng as well as the brönnti cream were excellent. A small deterrent was paying. I had the credit card ready when the waitress said “Card doesn’t work!” I said, but I don't have any cash, then she said: "Wait a minute, I'll get the device" and then suddenly it went.

While I was looking for a restaurant by looking at Google ratings, I heard it was open and came to this place. Today's menu, pumpkin soup, was really good. The food tastes good too. I am extremely satisfied with the friendly service.

Food and ambience wonderful. If the waitress had come to our table perhaps 1-2 times more to ask if we would like anything else, sales would have been higher and our satisfaction would have been even greater.

Generally an average rating. The “Wild Dishes” were evaluated These were good but not particularly special. e.g. the spaetzle could be even better. The meat had a few tendons. However, the Nüssler salad was great. This fit in every respect

The employees are super nice. It is a beautiful, cozy restaurant. That day it was above 30 degrees, the only downside was that there is no air conditioning. The food was very tasty and delicious. When we are on holiday again we will definitely come back.

I found this restaurant by chance, but after entering around 6 o'clock, many local people kept coming. There is an English menu and the staff are all very friendly. The food was all delicious and I liked that it wasn't overly salty!

Got to taste their Zwiebeln Käsekuchen / onion cheesepie and their Apfelkucheli (apple pie)-a speciality of this Restaurant. Very friendly staff, warm ambience and cozy restaurant to be in. Restaurant Bärenhöfli has its own unique reputation as one of the best and oldest if I am not mistaken!

Really great place for a quick uncomplicated lunch, good service and good offer on the lunch menu.

The food was delicious and the service was very friendly, but it took a relatively long time until you could order and the food was served. In defense, we were a larger group but there was still a bit of room for improvement. The apple chüechli (with cinnamon ice cream) are great!

As a gourmet, my expectations for the apple chüechli were too high. They looked bland (no Boskop) and were not crispy.

I met for a business lunch. The ambience as a whole isn't really my thing, although there were some nice individual elements that I like. The young lady in service was very friendly. Our special requests were accepted, but not brought to the table as ordered the first time, but this was corrected immediately and we didn't have to wait long. The food was fine, but in my opinion it could have been a little better. But quite ok for a lunch menu.

Friendly service. Were there for an aperitif. Drink tasted very good and at a reasonable price. Had another portion of French fries. Freshly made and was a large portion. Tasted great.

I recently had a dinner with my friends in Bärenhoffli. I had their burger which tastes as a traditional classic burger with not too much additives or sauces, and I really liked it. My friends had a beef with veggies and we left our plates completely empty:) The atmosphere in the restaurant could be a bit better / alive, but the service was really good.

The best apple cakes. Otherwise good and cheap with lunch.

Very good menus fresh cooked. For dessert it's a must to try the "Öpfuchűechli". (Slices of apples fried in a sweet cover. Served with vanilla sauce sugar and cinnamon) great!

Okay, we arrived at 8.30pm. Which, being in Switzerland, is not exactly early. The very courteous dining room staff took us in no small hurry to get our orders and, while serving the dishes, urged us to decide on dessert immediately as the kitchen was closing. Behavior certainly not in keeping with the level of the venue. I asked for a glass of red and was offered a Chianti or Swiss wine. I opted for the second, but then when serving me the glass no one bothered to tell me what wine it was. And I expected them to show me the label before serving it 🤪 One last negative note: the first courses do not appear on the menu: appetizers and salads, meat or fish main courses... At a restaurant with children it can be a problem...

Very nice service, we didn't have to wait long until we were brought to a table and we ate very well.

You can do it, you don't have to. The öpfuchüechli are okay. The service, on the other hand, isn't really okay: sometimes it's rather unfriendly and you forget half of your order.

Dish for children at 9 F...... and the good quality of the food offered led us to choose it for 2 evenings.....

Guests are warmly welcomed. The boss is very attentive. The menu offers something for everyone. The dishes are tasty and the portions are well sized

Went for lunch before Christmas and opted for the wiener schnitzel and my partner went fro the home made sausage. The wiener schnitzel was a sad story, but ok it was stated it was made with pork (can be great) but didn’t quite meet my expectations. Pan fried with "burnt" areas but over all the wiener schnitzel was cooked through. Usual servings of boiled/steamed vegs which were nice. The home made sausage was the real winner here and especially the sweet mustard that came with it. Very moist and went perfectly with the onion reduction.

This has been the best “Swiss” Resturant I have ever been to. Great dishes and wonderful service. The food comes out fresh and hot! I highly recommend the apple pie rings with cinnamon or vanilla sauce

Went to the restaurant before 6 p.m. today, July 3rd, 2021. At first we just wanted to have a coffee, but we decided not to have a dessert because we had eaten somewhere else earlier My colleague ordered 2 Opfuchüchli with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream. I wanted to order a scoop of ice cream. Then the waiter said that it was not possible to order a scoop of ice cream before 6 p.m. because someone would only be in the kitchen at that time. I had to understand that. No, I'm sorry, I don't understand that because my colleague got one with the Opfuchüchli. It's a shame not to be customer friendly

Excellent! We had a delicious entrecote steak (huge) and a tasty Zurcher geschnetzletes. Lovely staff too. We watched the world go by at an outside table.

Extremely taciturn, stressed-looking service. Food below average. Vegetables obviously straight from the freezer bag. The other vegetables are indefinable. The breaded pork schnitzel was also straight from the freezer (according to the taste).
