The hideaway in Lausanne

Good experience for Sunday brunch. The plates are well stocked, the pancakes perhaps a little too dry because they are very large. The hot chocolate is very good and in a huge cup which is nice. Friendly atmosphere, if you want to be quiet and in an intimate setting not the right place. Very friendly waitresses!

We ate at lunchtime and the place is really very friendly and warm. We had a normal burger and a vegetarian burger. Both were very good, we were just a little disappointed that in the veggie burger there was no sauce, it made it a little dry. But we mentioned it to the waiter who happily offered us some sauce and it was very nice of him. And the coffee and hot chocolate are delicious and above all very hot! In many establishments the hot chocolates are lukewarm whereas here it is boiling and that is very appreciated.

Good food, nice place, I love it. Great student discount for a takeaway dish during the week. On the other hand, when I arrived several times at 2 p.m. to get takeaway meals and I noticed that there was only one waitress for the 2 floors, the terrace, the payments, the 'takeaway' service. She managed everything...but you could clearly still have one more person at that time.

Service a little slow perhaps due to the large number of customers. The pancakes did not satisfy me, especially because they are only served with a small amount of maple syrup and are quite thick. Extras are to choose from. We asked for maple syrup but when it arrived they were already finished. The bacon was cold. The other dishes looked good but I wouldn't get the pancakes again and I think the service could be improved.

A quick lunch in Lausanne. Found at random, we were very lucky. The service was smiling, attentive and efficient. We shared eggs benedict with extra salmon. The eggs were not poached the way we like them but we enjoyed it. Fair price. The beers are good.

Super well served and the brunch is very good. We ordered the avocado toast, Bircher and a sandwich with scrambled egg and bacon. Very good! Very kind.

Best breakfast in Switzerland at a great price! Great food with healthy choices and great service from our waitress Hinda (I think that is the spelling!). Large giant coffee mugs with an excellent flavour from the blank long to a latte. Fresh squeezed orange juice without any bitterness (good oranges).

Very nice place for brunch, the food is good, the prices are quite reasonable. The place is well decorated. Concerning the service, it is quite variable, sometimes very pleasant and warm, sometimes a little too cold and hasty.

I recommend this place 100%. The welcome is superb, always accompanied by a smile. A special nod to a waitress, who is so bubbly that she makes the place warm. The dishes are tasty and the quantities are generous!!! Prefer reservations because the interior, made up of an additional floor, is not big enough to accommodate a lot of people. I find the place “Instagramable” due to its very beautiful decoration.

I must say that considering this was recommended by a Google search as a family friendly place, that it wasn’t at all. Upon arrival there today shortly after 1pm, I was told my children and my things were in the way… We politely asked if there would be a table for us, and were told “I’ll check”. As we waited in the entrance for the better part of 15 minutes, nobody returned downstairs to let us know. As my wife and children went outside, I checked upstairs and asked if there would be a table, to which I was told “you can take this if you want..” - a table in front of the stairs with one chair?! Literally zero customer service. Not a place I’ll be adding to the list.

Managed to find the only place who had available tables on a Sunday for lunch, managed to sit outside under the nice sun. The place is cute, small and cozy. I think it was slightly overpriced for the actual food, as it was just simple sandwiches, although the servings were quite generous! Overall it was okay, food was good but nothing crazy special.

It was a delightful surprise. We were searching for a place open on Sunday in Lausanne for lunch and ended up here out of curiosity. The staff is genuinely friendly and polite, the menu provides a wide variety of choices, and the food was both fresh and healthy. We'll definitely be back! :)

We had brunch on a Sunday morning at The Hideway. The place was full, luckily we had reservations, which I recommend is more practical! We ate upstairs, very nice but also very noisy. The food was excellent, nothing to complain about, very generous portions and as always I leave really satisfied with my dish. I find the prices a little excessive (78 CHF in total) but I don't mind paying the price when it's worth it. However, I was slightly disappointed with the service. No cards when we arrived at the table, the waiters didn't come to give us any so we had to go and ask at another table, and when we wanted to order or ask for a card the two waiters were at the bar chatting and looking at us blankly. come. Hearing the comments from a nearby table I think we weren't the only ones a little disappointed with the service. It’s a detail but I find that it makes the experience a little less pleasant… We will obviously come back next time and I recommend this place to share a good dish!

Sarcasm on the menu... Waited 30 +mins for a tea and 2 coffees.. received 2 Cookes as an apology nice gesture . however when we complained that the food was not good we received sarcasm as an apology... atmosphere is nice ...food and service sucks.but apparently we are fantastic people...such a shame was never like this before

The owner was incredible. French who even spoke Portuguese. A very friendly girl. In addition to the excellent food, wonderful view, a top-notch treatment. Another girl, who we learned was Spanish, was also very friendly. I recommend that everyone, when passing through the historic center, on Burgos Street, with a roundabout, visit the place.

Not a great welcome from the staff. The waitress is arrogant. The dishes are served cold, we order a dish with a poached egg and we get a fried egg instead. Prices too high for what it is. There are better places to brunch in Lausanne.

Service was good and the staff were very nice. The sausages were not good (very tough and bad flavour), the rest was nice.

The welcome and service is friendly, pleasant and available to the customer, but a little slow. The first time I came I left very disappointed by the quality-price ratio, but I returned recently (in September 2023) and was very satisfied, although the price of the brunch, as usual, and a not high. The coffee was really good, though.

Fabulous hang out slightly away from the crazy crowd om a Saturday morning before or after markets and shopping. I love this place. Great healthy food, extremely professional and friendly service.

Make a reservation ahead of time. Small space -fee outdoor table under a stone arch, a few tables in the coffee area and small tables upstairs. They were understaffed today but managed the situation with much professionalism and delivered great service despite the situation. Portions are very generous. Benny's eggs w salmon were super tasty and so was the avocado toast w eggs and smoked salmon. Plates come w a nice side salad. Kids pancakes with scramble eggs made for a happy and satiated kid. Hot chocolate is large and kid approved! Come hungry leave happy

Great place for brunch on a Sunday. Reservation required (fairly popular). Relatively high prices, 2 people 42 CHF, it's not cheap. The menu is slightly lacking in only "sweet" choices for those who don't necessarily appreciate "salty" first thing in the morning. The establishment does not offer simple "croissants" on Sundays. Otherwise a pretty nice setting for brunch. Doesn't deserve 5 stars, but almost because it's a great place, I highly recommend ;-)

I loved going there, being a regular customer, but it's been twice that my poached eggs (Benedict's) have been completely cooked inside (even though they are supposed to be runny)... This 2nd time, I had warned the servers At first glance, when ordering, what had happened the previous time and that I wanted runny poached eggs. Unfortunately, the eggs arrived way overcooked, and the yolk was very dry. So I mentioned when this plate returned that the eggs were all dry, but it then came back in the same situation... eggs fully cooked and not runny... The photo shared is the second plate served, and which this time must have contained eggs with runny yolks... It's very painful knowing the price of the plate (25.- eggs benedict's). I'm very disappointed, the Hideaway was my favorite brunch place!

A very nice place to stop while walking around Lausanne. The burgers are amazing. Service is fast and with a very good attitude. There are only a few tables outside and although they are next to the street, the traffic is not intrusive or annoying. Take a look inside the establishment. On the third floor, the atmosphere is vintage, arranged with attention to detail and with style.

Despite the fact that the place is well decorated, the service really needs to be questioned. Indeed, the waiter who took care of us (student group) was very unpleasant and sighed in front of us. It's a total lack of respect and he also took the liberty of throwing little verbal jabs at us, I quote: "Behhh what's coffee, have you ever drunk it?". The second point concerning our support regarding the tables, we were a group of approx. 14 people so in order not to annoy him we offered to install an extra table and chairs ourselves, he took the chairs and tables moving them in a really annoyed way all while sighing and turning his eyes. Regarding the breakfast we had, we waited 1h30 to finally eat 3 pancakes/person, knowing that only 4 people out of the 14 had ordered them. As the pancakes were not cooked, no one finished the plates and ended up paying 16.- (as I remember). I am really disappointed with this place which is really well placed and from an outside point of view catches the eye. The waiter was unpleasant and bitter then lacked professionalism (not even a goodbye), as for breakfast, being a student, 3 pancakes not even cooked for the price of 16. - I hope there was some or in it for the little I ate because it really hurts to pay for this breakfast which also gave me a stomach ache for the rest of the day. (Answer: I am not the philosophy teacher but one of the students, our opinion was not taken into consideration at the time of payment, I thank you for not putting forward facts which did not take place.. and actually you served 3x 3 pancakes and a sandwich (I don't know which one) for another person)

Beautiful place and decent food. We’ve been to Switzerland several times and were always impressed by how welcoming and polite people were. We asked if it was ok to sit upstairs and then went upstairs. When nobody came to take our order after 15 min, we went downstairs to order our lunch. Unfortunately, the waiter/barista was very impolite, aggressive and harsh. He didn’t want to take our order downstairs and said he would come upstairs. No offense but we never complained so why did he react this way. I would not recommend this place just because of this person. Regarding your question: We were 2 people, and came on June 15th 2023 from roughly 8h30-11h and were sitting upstairs on the blue bench. The blond guy was the impolite one.

I visited this place for brunch a couple of years ago, and had a positive memory of very appetizing eggs benedict with especially good sauce hollandaise. however, this time was very disappointing. i found the brunch food overpriced, with poor ingredients, and lathered in sauce.

Way over priced cheap food. I had a chicken club sandwich made of a cheap toast bread (hard to eat too!) filled with some discount-quality chicken breast, with a bit of chips taken from a budget bag and a little green salad on the side, for over 20 CHF. The espresso was quite bad too, a soup of acidic tasting coffee I had to leave behind... Staff was not so nice either when interacting, and they also forgot about our order... Sorry, the place is nice but you should upgrade your game food- and service-wise if you want to make people pay over 20 chf for a sandwich or an omelette.

A café/restaurant with a nice atmosphere with surely a lot of potential! Many veggie and healthy options which all sound delicious. A menu that is for the least, very appealing. Unfortunately, the food did not quite live up to those high expectations we had. Nonetheless, I would recommend it for coffee or lunch and leave it to the next customers to discover&rate the rest of their promising menu.

I wanted to try their hot chocolate, and I'm not disappointed! The chocolate is tasty and in a big cup. My friend tried their coffee which is also very good, even strong. As for the place, you should know that the café is large (2 floors and a terrace) and well decorated. Although there is music on the ground floor, the café is quiet enough upstairs to work there. Last info: you can benefit from a reduction as a student and another if you bring your own container! In short, a great discovery.

The place was packed and we did not book beforehand but still theyanaged to accomodate us. Food was amazing and the club sandwich was just wow. Also the portion are huge and value for money. I would 100% recommend you go there if you are in Geneva

Brunch Hideaway delicious toast!

I honestly don’t get all the enthusiastic reviews. But it’s worth mentioning that this breakfast/lunch place was one of the only open spot on a Sunday in Lausanne. Apart from that… food quality was average. The chicken club sandwich is absolutely tasteless and just full of sauce. Not worth 21 CHF for sure. Service was ok.

Once again Hideaway delights us, one of the best brunches in Lausanne. Special mention for Anastasia and Théo who received us excellently!

Brilliant service on the first floor. The vegetarian Frittata recommendation from Anastasia was a winner! Highly recommended as well the chicken burrito.

A cappuccino... how can I put it... really bad. Approximate presentation, taste of bitter coffee... nothing to do with a coffee shop like Passe-crème or Sleepy Bear. And more expensive (6.-CHF). We didn't try anything else, but it didn't make us want to go back.
