The Lion in Zürich

A pub's attraction is generally made of atmosphere, staff, other patrons, and to the least of all food and, of course, drinks. The Lion pub has great and friendly staff. It's attracts a nice and pleasant crowd. Its drinks are fine, its chips are great, the food is not bad at all. Every visit there is a win. Warmly recommended.

A classic English Pub in Zurich. Always a good place to have a drink. The coleslaw was amazing, but not really the pie 😕

Absolutely adore the pub decor, it’s classy, modern and clean. The atmosphere is lively and civilised. The staff are fantastic; incredibly friendly, very helpful and respectful. Great selection of beers and cocktails and really enjoy chicken wings and jalapeños poppers.

An alright pub - was way less crowded than Kennedy's on Thursday night. Murphys instead of Guinness, but that's alright for me. Staff looked a little grumpy and overwhelmed, though service was fast. Nachos are a mountain for some reason, so when the toppings are over one is left with a slightly less mountain of salty chips - there's plenty of topping, but still way more chips, and cheddar solidifies much faster than it's possible to consume even a quarter of that. Why such a humongous portion is beyond me - though was tasty as much as I could stomach, 1/3 would have been quite enough. Overall decent pub, though didn't feel special to me.

Always a perfect hit to go back to the Lion pub.

Very busy pub on Friday evening. International guests. High noise level. Nevertheless, it's worth a visit before heading to the nearby train station

Pleasant British pub in the higher price range, which isn't surprising given the location. The specialty beers are on the low side for a British pub, but the lager is on the high side.

Went there for cocktails. Espresso Martini is to recommend, was really good!

Unbelievably small food portions. Don't eat here unless on a diet. Steak Pie (ie mini Pukka pie) took 30 plus minutes to defrost, fish and chips only has one small piece of fish and a thimble of mushy peas. Good for sports though, just plan for a pre or post visit kebab.

Excellent pub Food, in a more Zúrich than English pub ambiance. The perfect mix of experience to enjoy the sports event in the Zúrich context, with higher food quality standards than in nearby pubs.

This pub is located between the Lindenhof and Bahnhofstrasse. Great service and very comfortable environment. I recommend.

Nice pub which serves decent prized beer and shows sports from their multiple tvs. They even had access to the channel showing the ice hockey world championship 2023 which isn't too popular in Swiss pubs. Went there many times and would definitely go again too

Best place in Zurich to watch live cricket/ IPL action! Food and drinks are good and also excellent service by staff. Recommended!

Pretty, well-kept pub in the heart of Zurich. Always very well attended. Fancy some fish and chips again...then off to Lions. A few beers... and the evening is saved.

The Lions Pub has been unrecognizable since Corona. The once friendly and courteous service has given way to an arrogant and cheeky service that is otherwise only seen in tourist traps. There's nothing left of the British style anyway, apart from the furnishings.

Beautiful interior and a chill vibe create a great atmosphere to for watching sports on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Service was friendly and quick.

I booked a table using the online reservation tool. The reservation was confirmed by the pub. Later I get a phone call saying that the table is no longer available, despite confirmation. This shows once again how dubious the store is.

I had last night what might be the worst burger in my life. Everything about it was bad- meet was probably cooked 5 days ago and the buns cold and min 2 weeks old. And yes I had to wait for it for about 45min as they forgot about it. Thank God I had wings as a appetiser so I didn’t day from hunger.

Nice location with good food. Quality of screens is the lowest I have seen so far in a pub. If you come to see sports, you should go somewhere else or stream at home.

Good vibes, great staff and reasonably priced beer. Good place to watch football (or prob other sports) that wasn't nearly as crowded as other places within walking distance.

Good selection of snacks and drinks. The ambience is classic and like a pub should be. Ordering beer worked perfectly. The service is quick and friendly. Gladly again, next time we will try burgers and pies.

Nice decor but not an authentic pub atmosphere. The drinks we ordered were forgotten twice and the waitress was also snappy. Hospitality seems to be a foreign word. There are some better pubs in town.

Nice atmosphere and good service. Food was OK. They had Fullers IPA on which wasn't bad but served far too cold.

If you're looking for the unfriendly and most primitive service in the entire canton, you'll hit the jackpot here.

They forgot to bring our food for half an hour in the kitchen and was served cold. Place too noisy, extrem. The food average. Not coming back.

This pub is a good place to go because generally you do not need to reserve a table. The menu is a typical pub menu with fish and chips and pie etc. I had a sandwich, Philadelphia, and it was very good. It came with coleslaw and french fries. The sandwich was very tasty and I was really happy. A good beer to go with it. I've been visiting the lion pub many times and I will continue to do that.

Charged us for a drink we didn’t order, demanded a tip!! And to make matters worse we were at a table. They told us we could stay there until 20:00. Then at 19:16, they asked us to leave cause the guests of the reservation showed up 45 minutes early. They stared us down meanly (both staff and guests). It was very uncomfortable. I have never experienced anything like this in Zurich. I would not suggest this place!

And definitely no more food either. 29.- francs for a cold PHILADELPHIA STEAK SANDWICH - with pepperoni and raw zucchini - and the cheese is hard again - only 10 fries - and since when does coriander belong in coleslaw salad? What does this have to do with a Philly Cheesesteak????

The site is very good. The atmosphere is good and the waiters are very attentive.

I understand that you are an English pub, but it was a bit strange to have to order your drink in English in Zurich. Plus, the service isn't exactly the friendliest - you're snidely told that you can't pay separately. Which, by the way, is absolutely incomprehensible to me, because there are really more complex things than splitting an invoice.

Nastiest bartender ever (red haired female, not sure what her name is.) Asked her to make a martini that was apparently too complicated for her small brain. She said no so I ordered a beer which she slammed on the bar in front of me instead. Unbelievable.

We had dinner and it was terrible. The burger and chips (if you can call 6 chips a portion of chips) were cold. Mushy peas in the tiniest bowl ever were cold. I complaint and got a new burger and chips, hot this time but the bunn was dry and hardly any onion and pickle. They advertise English food, it is nothing like English pie, we dont serve pie with coleslaw. They better only serve Swiss food. Will definately not eat here anymore.
