Trais Portas in Scuol

A really wonderful gem with very good food and friendly hospitality. We will definitely come back to visit.

The Trais Portas with Ralf as host is one of our absolute favorite restaurants. It's like coming home. The warm service paired with excellent food in a historic house guarantees a great evening. Thank you very much Ralf. Greetings T&T.

Where rump becomes entrecôte The old Engadine house is unique, but unfortunately the food is not. In a steakhouse I have to be able to expect that the piece of meat I ordered will also be served. In my case: Entrecôte, small cut! But there were two(!) pieces of hip on the plate. No marbling, a tiny bit of fat, just 150 grams of rump. Accompanied by normal fries, like those from the chip shop, and a mix of vegetables. We were hungry, ate the Huft, but when we said goodbye we mentioned that we had actually ordered entrecôte, not Huft. That didn't go down well at all! I was almost insulted because of my lack of knowledge about meat. It was the last piece of entrecôte, that's just how it was. Yes, at the end the entrecôte merges into the rump, so it is no longer entrecôte, but rather rump (also a third cheaper to buy). The chef at a steakhouse should actually know. A quick word about the tartare, which I tasted from the next plate. Not cut by hand, but chopped (or chopped with a knife), very watery. When I asked if it had been frozen, the answer was a horrified no. But just as easily as the rump mutated into entrecôte, it was also, oh wonder, fresh from frozen. Unfortunately, I don't have any photographic proof because food photography annoys me. I would have had to overcome myself here. It's a shame, the location would be very nice.

The Trais Portas restaurant, hidden in the old town, is definitely worth a visit. You should take a look at the building alone, which is over 400 years old. A warm welcome for an aperitif in the bar. The food was down-to-earth and very tasty. A burger the way you want it. The service was very attentive & friendly. The atmosphere is unique. Thank you for the wonderful evening.

As a regular restaurant goer, you are always looking for something special. And I have to say I finally found it again! The restaurant and the service are unique. There is excellent meat and burgers. What's special is that there are exclusive grappas. All in all we had a special evening, at reasonable prices, with exquisite dishes. If you are in Scuol, you have to go here! In the beautiful ambience of an old pine parlor, we enjoyed the attentive host tour. Still, my experience differs significantly from the glowing reviews on Google. The spare ribs left an unpleasant impression as they smelled unmistakably of pork. The beef fillet for a whopping 50 francs met expectations, but no more than that. The burgers were OK, but for a renowned meat house I was hoping for a taste highlight and expected more culinary finesse. Everyone has their preferences, but unfortunately this experience will prevent me from returning.

We were there for the first time today and were totally thrilled. From the ambience to the service and absolutely delicious food. Great praise. Can only be recommended. Would love to come back.

Absolutely top restaurant! We had a starter, spare ribs and dessert and a fine wine. The food was great and the atmosphere was very nice. In addition, the service was extremely attentive and the staff were very friendly. Highly Recommended!

We were here at the end of October 2023 and really enjoyed it. The service is great and you can clearly tell that Rolf and Dominique really enjoy their work. The food was also good, for me personally the seasoning of the patty of the burger wasn't quite to my taste, but that's certainly very individual. Prices were reasonable. The ambience is simply fantastic: very lovingly furnished historical walls with a dining room made of pine wood. We recommend!

We had a fantastic family dinner here. Ralf is charming and a perfect, friendly host. The tiny rooms and cosy atmosphere were warm and inviting. The food was amazing..... Burgers, spare ribs, seasonal specialties (game), salad, desserts..... Were all delicious. We booked again for another night to return right away. Be sure to make a reservation.

We had a great dinner here in September and can highly recommend the Trais Portas restaurant. It's a steak-house, so that's obviously the main focus, but there are other options on the menu (on the day we were there, the starters included a fantastic carpaccio of Bresaola), including vegetarian choices, in case your party includes people who might not normally dine in a steak-house. Our main courses were delicious, well-prepared with local produce and high quality ingredients. Indeed, we were eating on the terrace looking out over the pretty kitchen garden, which provides many of the ingredients, so some elements of your meal have no "food miles", just "food meters" straight from garden to kitchen. Service is very friendly, good-humoured, efficient and helpful. We were served by Ralf, one of the business owners, who was happy to explain and advise on menu options, in German or (excellent) English. You definitely need to make a reservation, as this is the "smallest restaurant in Scuol", as they point out on their website. It's a pity the website seems to be available only in German, so English-speakers might not be able to discover the joys of a great dinner at Trais Portas. As for us, Trais Portas is definitely on our "must visit" list, next time we are in Scuol.

Even if it's a steakhouse, the vegetarian menu is great! This is only topped by the cozy family atmosphere in the garden.

This historic restaurant does what it promises - in every respect! For me it was the best deer antercôte ever! Thanks also to the good wine recommendation, my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful evening in the garden.

It was a perfect evening with really good food, very friendly service and a cozy atmosphere in the smallest restaurant in Scuol! The garden is fantastic :) The only wish I would make is to place more value on meat from Switzerland. Of course it's not possible with all meat, but I think it is possible with beef and chicken. Then it would be 6/5 stars for me!

It was our first time in Scouls and we chose Trais Portas based on the good reviews. We can only confirm it...an absolutely great, small, very old restaurant building that immediately makes you feel at home. The people there also understood their task and lived it with their heart and soul. The food was excellent. I had an absolutely delicious burger in front of me. But what I found almost even more brilliant were the Bread Nuggets - a poem. I can only recommend this restaurant. Whether inside or in the nice garden outside, a really special experience.

We immediately felt comfortable. Excellent hospitality, very good food and great wine list. The garden is a gem and the lettuce is picked on site. The vegiburger is highly recommended.

We always enjoy stopping by Trais Portas, and have been doing so for several years. The food is always excellent, great service and a cool atmosphere. Simply a must when visiting Scuol!

The price with the served food didn't match. It is too expensiv. We were about 10minutes earlier than the reservation time and we were aggressivly told, that the table isn't ready yet and we had to wait. The rooms are quite nice, because it has a mountain lodge atmosphere. I will not go again in this restaurant.

Highly recommended restaurant, excellent meat cooked in a spectacular way by the Chef, simple but perfect atmosphere and you feel at home. Excellent wine (also from Padenghe sul Garda and our Franciacorta), craft beer and selection of grappa! And finally, praise to the owner, Ralph, he is number 1 for hospitality and so is his staff! It was a wonderful experience. We will certainly return.

Highly recommended - small but fine restaurant! The extremely courteous service started with the telephone reservation. We were lucky with the weather and were able to eat on the cozy terrace. We went here twice during our stay in the Engadine and will definitely eat here again next time!

The smallest restaurant in Scuol offers cozy rooms, cheerful service, exceptional grappas and good food. Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy the evening in the small room with all our senses because the noise level from the table for 8 filled the entire small room to such an extent that it was hardly possible for us to have a conversation. We are already looking forward to the next attempt, which we will do on the newly designed terrace from summer 22.

Trais Portas in Scuol Essen excellent to recommend

It was our first time - but certainly not the last time - to the Trais Portas restaurant. The atmosphere is very homely, somewhat rustic and inviting. All rooms are lovingly furnished. The selection of dishes is good, the food itself is really tasty and beautifully presented. The portions are sufficient and the prices are okay for the quality. The food is served by the boss himself, questions about the food are answered competently, and you can absolutely see how much he enjoys his job. Reservation is strongly recommended. Thank you for a cozy evening with a fine dinner.

One of the best restaurants in Scuol. Definitely deserves high rating. Prices are good for Switzerland, not too expensive. Portions also have a good size. I took T-bone steak and was more than satisfied. If you like to have nice dinnerin the restaurant, consider visiting.

We were immediately impressed by the ambience when we entered. The reception is very personal and the selection on the menu is clear. The dishes served were artfully presented. For 5 stars it lacked a bit of sophistication.

Wir haben den Take Away Service wegen der Corona Einschränkungen genutzt. Super Service, Essen sehr gut.. vorallem die Burger Kann nur empfehlen diesen Service auch zu nutzen und so die Lokalität zu unterstützen

Wer das Trais Portas live kennt, vermisst in der take away Variante nur das Team um Ralf und die urgemütliche Atmosphäre des Hauses. Das Essen schmeckt auch zuhause WUNDERPRÄCHTIG: Die Crespelle vollendet im Geschmack, frisch und heiss, das Safranrisotto dazu hervorragend abgeschmeckt, der Salat wie immer frisch und knackig. Und das Toblerone Mousse - darüber brauche ich keine weiteren Worte zu verlieren! Also, Leute, nichts wie los, das 3P ist auch in Corona Zeiten der Hammer!

Very good steakhouse in Scuol. The restaurant is located in an alley parallel to the main street. It has some neat little rooms where you can enjoy the food. The boss is very friendly and accommodating. A grappa at the end is highly recommended! Top and happy again!

Die Qualität der Speisen ist sehr gut. Das Wildschweinfilet war sehr gut. Mein Burger war einer der besten, den ich je gegessen habe. Gute Fleischqualität. Gut gewürztes Fleisch. Richtiger Käse drin. Nicht nur eine Scheibe Schmelzkäse. So kann ein Burger ein gelungenes Abendmenue sein. Das Ambiente ist schön. Sehr klein aber gemühtlich.

Reservamos el día anterior para una comida en Trais Portas ya que era el número 1 en TA para Scuol. El servicio fue excelente y las distintas habitaciones son muy entretenidas. Teníamos un calentador de carbón de cerámica verde antiguo clásico en nuestra habitación.Tuve el bistec básico, y creo que mi compañero tenía una hamburguesa. Debería haberme bifurcado por uno de los mejores cortes de carne porque lo que comí fue bastante duro y lejos de ser el bistec más sabroso que he probado.En general, excelente para la ubicación, el servicio, una buena opción para una comida con mucha carne, pero no la mejor comida que tuvimos en Scuol.

Sehr zuvorkommender Service, äusserst nett und lustig mit den Kindern, hervorragendes Essen, auch die vegetarische Burgervariante. Wir würden sofort wieder hier essen. Wir fühlten uns auch wohl mit den eingehaltenen Schutzmassnahmen.

Durch Glück haben wir einen Tisch in diesem wunderschönen, authentischen und familiären Restaurant ergattern können. Ein absoluter Volltreffer! Von der Bedienung, über das Essen bis zu der Location hat alles wunderbar gepasst. Ein MUSS für jeden, der in Scuol eine super Adresse sucht! Da es nicht viele Tische hat würde ich eine Anmeldung empfehlen. Vielen Dank für den tollen Abend, wir können es mit gutem Gewissen weiterempfehlen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen!

Beautiful place to eat comfortably and deliciously. There is something for everyone, be it a fine menu, seasonal or even burgers. The plates and food are made with a lot of love and are warmly presented. I highly recommend it and the service is excellent and caring! The garden is also very cozy and homely maintained. Be sure to reserve in advance, as the family restaurant is in high demand! We'd love to come back.

Reservation hat super geklappt und Empfang war herzlich sowie lustig. Ambiente sehr warm, einheimisch und einladend. Speisekarte auf Wandtafel plus einige Tagesspezialitäten wurden humorvoll erklärt. Fokus liegt auf Fleisch mit wirklicher Berücksichtigung von Vegis!Meine Partnerin hatte gemischten Blattsalat und Vegi Burger. Ich die Kokos-/Tomaten-Suppe sowie den XL-Burger. Als Begleitung den offenen Rioja, welcher so fein war, dass wir nachbestellten.Tipp 1: Kokos-/Tomatensuppe Tipp 2: Vegi-Burger Tipp 3: Reservation im Voraus

Wir warne im August und im Oktober bei unserem Aufenthalt in Scuol im Trais Portas zu Gast. Es ist wie eine Einladung bei Freunden, einfach mit dem Unterschied, dass man den Gastgeber Ralf nur vom Besuch im Trais Portas kennt. Er und seine Crew machen das kleine und feine Restaurant in diesen altehrwürdigen Mauern zu etwas ganz speziellem. Eine ungezwungene Atmosphäre, man fühlt sich einfach wohl!Zu empfehlen ist neben den Burgern (nein, die sind nicht so wie man es sich gewohnt ist, die sind viel besser) auch immer das, was nicht auf der Karte ist und jeweils vom Chef empfohlen wird.Unbedingt Reservieren, da im Moment 2 Seatings stattfinden, eine früh und eine spät und das Trais Porta wenig Plätze hat.

Herzlichen Dank für ein entspanntes Service, feines Essen, der lustige Schwatz = alles während diese tollen Covid-Zeiten! Ihr macht das echt cool! Wenn wir wieder nach Scuol kommen, kommen wir ganz sicher wieder ins Trais Portas

Ein wunderbares Lokal in altem Gemäuer. Sehr gutes Essen und eine äusserst persönliche, einzigartige Bedienung. Wir waren drei Abende nacheinander hier essen. Sehr lecker.

Gemütliches kleines Lokal im 1. Stock. Wenn man von aussen reinschaut, wirkt die kalte Bar im Erdgeschoss nicht einladend. Dafür ist die Überraschung im oberen Stock umso grösser. Vor allem die saftig leckeren Hamburger überzeugen. Alles ist fein, gemütliches lockeres Ambiente und guter aufgestellter Service. Man fühlt sich einfach wohl. Ein Must in Scuol.
