Trattoria da Mario in Winterthur

Unfortunately, my first and last visit to Trattoria da Mario was extremely disappointing. The quality of service left a lot to be desired, from very long waiting times to incorrect orders. The food was also only served lukewarm, which further detracted from the overall experience. The behavior of the host, Mario, was particularly regrettable. He constantly complained about his service staff and the guests, which created a negative atmosphere. Worst of all, however, was his unhygienic behavior when he smoked and then wiped the sweat from his forehead with his bare hands. This happened before he cut the panettone and served the food. These practices are not only inappropriate but also unacceptable. Definitely not recommended!

The atmosphere was very nice, very family friendly. The service was unfriendly and really not good. It took 15-20 minutes until we received a menu and then another 20 minutes until we could order. I think you can overlook that and smile. The thing that bothered me the most was that we called ahead and asked if there were vegetarian options. The only menu was a plate of black lentils, which had been carelessly prepared and didn't taste good. The spaghetti with meat was also bland and tasteless. The waitress was really unfriendly to me and “threw” the plate at me without even looking at me. Maybe the cook and server had a bad day... but it was really the worst restaurant visit in Winti we've ever had. Another waitress offered us a limoncello as an apology, which was very nice.

Here's how to end the year in the worst possible way!!! Yesterday we went to this restaurant for dinner and I would say the whole evening was a catastrophe!!! Starting from the food to the inefficient service but ABOVE ALL FROM THE vulgarity and rudeness of the owner, he shouted at the employees throughout the evening in the kitchen, creating a relaxing atmosphere in the room to say the least!!! Education and respect are the basis! I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!NEVER AGAIN!!!

The boss treated the guests and employees poorly and unfortunately the food wasn't great either.

Had the Heissenstein as a menu and was just thrilled, it was so delicious with the sweet sauce 🤤We just had to wait a long time for the main course and dessert

I had a chance. I'm allergic to nuts. I asked for something different and Sue made me a different sauce. Very nice. And I'm panna cotta without wild berries. We paid cheaply. Me and my friend like to eat there. Very nice people and super friendly and nice

Just a shame! We arrived and asked if we could sit outside, waitress said yes. It took 16 minutes for her to come and serve me. After another 5 minutes the drink finally came. We ordered *starter* caprese with buffalo mozzarella, lasagne and hotstone as the main course. It took 35 minutes for tomato mozzarella until the starter arrived!!! the highlight? it was regular mozzarella not buffalo!! When we told this to the waitress, she confirmed this to us indirectly! She is from Italy herself and this mozzarella has nothing to do with buffalo! Then 40 minutes later the lasagne and hotstone came. The lasagna was good! HotStone without love the meat was already done! When I went to the toilet I noticed that there were 5 people sitting in there and there were 2 of them in the kitchen!! So there's no excuse it was busy or anything! The best thing yet, a gentleman was sitting right at the entrance and wanted an ice cream. He got the card and the waitress didn't come until he got up and left!! So the whole thing is such a shame! We were at the opening 1-2 times and everything was great! Just something now. Never thank you again, it's NOT worth the money!

We had a great meal at Mario's. The food came quickly and tasted great. The service was friendly and the place was mostly clean, but could be a little cleaner. Our table also ordered, among other things, a dessert with a pistachio flavor, but received one with a lemon flavor. But it was still tasty.

Just ordered the salami on the Calabrese there smelled like old 🐑 Price was rather high and all the reviews were very good, I won't order there again!!!

Friday evening, the restaurant was poorly attended. About six tables were occupied by 2-4 people, so there was no rush. But we waited over half an hour for the menu, the waiter kept walking past us and didn't even look at us. Another guest came in about 10 minutes after us and was served immediately. He got his food before we could even place our order! The eggplants in the Parmigiana were still raw, only briefly fried and then put in the oven. The buffalo mozzarella with ham was good, but that's not art! The pizza was quite good but the crust was charred. When we complained, the chef said he was alone and couldn't keep up with the orders! He offered us coffee in return! Ridiculous! Never again! The waiter doesn't even deserve a star!

We ate at this restaurant for Mother's Day after going there last year. this time the food was inedible and the service terrible, we waited a long time and the pizza seemed anything but Italian. We won't be back.

Very fine food and friendly welcome. Price performance is also right.

Fresh, authentic Italian cuisine

This time not as good as last time. Eating something bland. I didn't like the salad dressing. Pizza could be spicier.

Good food, pizza over everything, but very unhygienic! Yesterday while we were waiting, the owner Mario was picking his nose behind the counter and then, without washing his hands, he brought us the food... DISGUSTING!!! I definitely won't go there again!

Table reservation canceled, beer in the water glass, wrong salad brought, pasta as a mini portion and coffee then a discussion about what was ordered. Waiting times are also enormous… At the beginning it was good, now there is a lack of staff, coordination and time for the guests. Don't like coming anymore...

Last week we visited "Trattoria da Mario" and were amazed by the authentic atmosphere, delicious food and warm service! The menu offered a tempting selection of authentic Italian dishes and we couldn't resist trying the homemade Lasagna della Casa and Pizza Prelibarata. The food was authentic and delicious and we felt like we were in Italy. We were particularly impressed by the warm hospitality of the entire team. A big thank you to everyone!

Lunch was served quickly again, not even the daily menu can be really quick. Food was also very tasty. Gladly again!

On a not very busy Tuesday evening (restaurant is about a third full) we had to wait 40 minutes for our food. Unfortunately the noodles weren't cooked. I was in Italy and ate Italian food for a long time, it was undercooked instead of being "al dente". So we had to send the food back and wait another 15 minutes. We didn't even get bread. Maybe there are people who enjoyed their experience there, unfortunately I didn't have a pleasant time and luck. A pity! The Lenner was ok, but you always have to ask everything. Sometimes she doesn't hear you, or she just gives you something and before you can ask, she's gone again.

True, the last time I ate pizza there, and it wasn't a pleasant experience at all. I'd be happy to forgo it.

Unfortunately we didn't have a good day. Saturday evening, only got a mini table, although we left before the rush. There was a constant tugging from the wine fridge to my neck. Tablecloth was pretty dirty. The waiter couldn't answer two questions about the dishes directly. Then they no longer had the Pino Grigio wine. She didn't know anything about the alternative either. She meant fruity, but it was dry. We didn't get any cheese either. We had to keep asking and then the waitress rolled her eyes. It wasn't our fault that she had to ask about everything. Food was good. Unfortunately only 2 stars.

The food was good. We were able to order something as a starter that wasn't on the menu. Prices are reasonable. You can choose the size of the pizza. Attention, a "normal" sized pizza is big :-) very friendly staff. The “waiter” from Austria was super friendly, funny and forward-looking. We had a lovely evening. At first we just wanted to drink something, but then we decided to eat something. Bruscetta and salad was great and the service from Duval was very professional and charming. I can only recommend.

Nice service. Eggplant casserole is very good, but turns out to be very small. Be sure to eat antipasti or something hearty beforehand if you don't want to leave the restaurant hungry.

Instead of vegetables there was a salad. The meat was okay. The boss was very friendly to us, in contrast to the table next door.

The 4 of us spontaneously went to Mario's yesterday. Even though the store was closed, we still got 4 pizzas. And these were incredibly tasty. Thumbs up for the top service and the very fine pizzas.

Very friendly service. Very good food. Although the waiting time is a little long due to the fresh preparation. But it was worth every minute of waiting. Pizza very delicately topped, not too fattening, starter salad perfect size and the tiramisu is a poem. Really Italian atmosphere and enjoyment. Definitely again

We were there for lunch. We all ordered lunch in our group and pizzas for the children. Everything was very fine, the service was top and the atmosphere was pleasant - and at a very fair price. We will be back.
