Trattoria Sempre in Zürich

We recently dined at this wonderful restaurant, and I must say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The service was impeccable, thanks to the lovely waitress, Barbara. She greeted us with a warm smile, guided us through the menu, and made some excellent recommendations. Barbara's attentiveness and friendly demeanor truly elevated our dining experience. The restaurant has a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The food was a delightful surprise. I would highly recommend to try the meatballs and the pistachio cheescake! In summary, if you're looking for a restaurant that combines exceptional service, delectable food, and a warm ambiance, look no further. Barbara and the entire team deserve all the praise. I can't wait to return for another delightful dining experience.

Excellent for lunch. The gnocchi with the tomato sauce and basil was delicious. The pea soup was an excellent appetizer. Finished with an espresso. Perfect for a couple of hours and very kind and nice staff. 10/10 would go again!

Why so small dishes and at the same time pretty pricey. The pasta was not good . The service was not good. I didnt feel welcomed . The boy waitress was rude.

Pretty good restaurant. Went there on the recommendation of a friend. The food was pretty good, felt like it was a bit blend, especially the pasta. Was very creamy tho. Loved the salad and above all LOVED the focaccia. Cute plates and cute decoration, the toilets are a must visit lol The server was very nice and the service was fast.

It is a pity I cannot give more than 5 stars, this place has been such an amazing surprise to me! We had a friend visiting Zurich and decided to try Trattoria Sempre because of the many positive reviews. I must say we really enjoyed the great atmosphere, the colorful and cozy environment, and the great food. Last but not least, I must mention the exceptional level of service thanks to Fabio. He made us feel at home from the moment we went through the door. Fabio has been a perfect host, very kind and professional, and gave us precious suggestions on the plates to choose. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

The arancini was so delicious. A more luxurious taste than the taste you had in Sicily? The other food was generally delicious, but I wish the pasta was a little more seasoned. The waiter was friendly and even brought water for the dog.

Really delicious and varied tapas-style food, simply Italian. The restaurant is very wildly decorated, but fits together perfectly. Depending on the seat and the guests, it can be a bit noisy.

Overall, unfortunately insufficient. Food was average, but the prices for these small rations were outrageous. Unfortunately, service was also very, very slow. Definitely won't be coming back!

The location and concept are great! The atmosphere is loud but we Italos like that :) We deliberately ordered 8 dishes to try as much as possible. We would order 4 of the 8 dishes again and not necessarily the rest. Our favorites were the arancini, le polpette, la tagliata di manzo and the tiramisù! The focaccia dough is good! It's more of an Italian restaurant than many others but as an Italian you notice that it's not 100% run by Italians.. (small example: we asked for spicy and we were brought Tabasco... we were shocked for a moment hahah) overall it was good but to be honest it's overhyped... maybe my expectations were too high :) Service is friendly but we waited a bit long for our food. Price is normal according to Zurich. I think a 4.4 is appropriate

Trattoria Semper is an absolute delight for lovers of authentic Italian cuisine. The ambience is charming and inviting, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. The menu offers a diverse selection of traditional dishes, all prepared with fresh ingredients. We particularly recommend the homemade pasta dishes, which are simply delicious. The wine list is also impressive, offering a selection of wines that pair perfectly with the food. All in all, Trattoria Semper is a place you should definitely visit when in Zurich to experience a piece of real Italy.

Really disappointing, it's been a long time since I had such a bad Italian meal. Interesting Italian tapas concept but the taste is not there... The mini pizza was pretty good but the truffle gnocchi and especially the burrata mozzarella... Are really not up to par.. Really disappointed because the frame looks good.

Very tasty food, great decor and service with good English skills (we were an international group). We ordered two plates per person plus dessert and were well fed.

Really super disappointing... I don't understand how people can appreciate the food and the service, especially being in Zurich. Food: truffle gnocchi; gnocchi without flavor, tastes like water, the truffle is flavorless shavings (dish not even finished) and the price is 20 balls… Burrata: Cherry tomatoes heated in the oven without flavor and a burrata, fried, tiny and without flavor… 17 balls…. We really need to revisit the classic burrata. the 2 mini pizzas are good even if there are very few ingredients on them..., the stew passable but so ridiculous in size, the spinach pasta tiny and x4 pieces only... Having several dishes as they recommend may be good but you need more quality and flavor in the dishes…! the service needs to be improved..It’s slow, the tables aren’t cleared… I will not come back.

We spontaneously went to Trattoria Semper on Sunday February 4th, 2024 and found the evening in the restaurant perfect! Italian food with a difference. The portions are reminiscent of tapas, so we recommend at least two to three portions per person. The food was exceptionally good and unique. From the welcome to the farewell, everything from the staff was perfect! It was a perfect Sunday evening all around. Thank you very much for that.

A very familiar trattoria with food to share (Roman style) I often go to eat with friends, and recently the Italian spirit that has always been there has been missing. Italian service staff, who welcome you with a good evening and not with a "gruietzi" pronounced so-so. I don't want to criticize or say bad about the people who work there but before the service staff were mostly Italian and there was more atmosphere. I was served well, I ate well, but I missed something. I will return to eat at Semper with pleasure, it was only to highlight the difference between Italianness before and now. A bit strange concept with the Italian tapas, you have to like it. The price is definitely too high even for Swiss standards. The food was a bit too creamy/milky, especially the truffle gnochi.

We had not made a reservation, but luckily we were given a table for an hour (which turned out to be more than 1.5 hours). very good, attentive service. On advice, we ordered the Tavolata con amici as a starter. A combination of delicious starters. Then the Rigatoni rose e pecorino. And the whole thing ended with, of course, tiramisu. And this one was delicious. Sometimes it's a letdown, but here it's very okay. Thanks!

What an eccellent surprise! We had a kid a bit sick so we decided for something close and Italian ( home food). Everything was well above expectation food,service, ambient and kids friendliness. Highly recommended

Fried food that was not hot or at least not reheated properly. Service started well, we had placed the entire order at the beginning and asked that they bring them to us in two batches. The first one arrived after 5 minutes with the cold fried things. And the second batch after waiting 30 since they picked up our plates, we asked where our food was and they told us they had forgotten. Luckily that second batch the food was hot. The Decorian of the place is very nice.

In the middle of Niederdorf, so in the best location! That's why it's all the more remarkable that we had the impression that the furnishings, the drinks and especially the food had been made with great attention to detail. The culinary concept is also interesting: Instead of traditional courses, there are small portions that invite you to try and share several dishes. As a little tip: the walk to the toilets is designed very cool!

Great if you want to try a little bit of everything. The cheesecake is one of the best I've eaten in a long time.

Very satisfied from A-Z. I find the Italian tapas concept at Trattoria Semper to be an enrichment in addition to the other 'high-quality' Bindella restaurants in the Zurich area. The food is of the highest quality and the portions are generally absolutely fine. The gnocchi al tartufo and the homemade tiramisu are highly recommended:-) The service was also very nice and professional.

This restaurant is one of the reasons why the food scene in Zürich is so bad. In short: high prices, bad service, ridiculous portions, no tap water, but somehow still solid reviews here on Google Maps. It doesn’t make any sense. I highly don’t recommend coming here. Please, let’s stop collectively handing out tons of money to people who don’t deserve it. For people who want to know more, here are the reasons. High prices and ridiculous portions: when you look at the menu and you read that a plate of pasta is around CHF 15 you expect a full plate of pasta. Right? Nope, think again. You are served a ridiculous size in what resembles more a dessert plate than a pasta one. I am a girl and I am small, I can’t imagine a full grownup man getting full on that. Water? Forget about tap water “we don’t give out tap water here, but you can buy 1 l for CHF 5”. Next time I will just go to the restroom and drink it form there, as tap water in Zürich is renown to be of extremely high quality. You cannot *not* give out tap water on a CHF 25 bill. Think of the environment, too! If you order one of the appetizers, like bruschetta, you are served a bruschetta for CHF 4.5 which looks more like a coin than a piece of bread (I have attached a photo for verification). Mind you: that is exactly what I was served. One mini bruschetta. Service: you have to chase waiters around to get their attention. And no, the restaurant was not full, rather half empty. I complained in the end, saying that the quantity is just ridiculous. I was told “but this is tapas style”. Meaning that you are supposed to order 3-4 dishes to feel full. But the problem is that each of those dish is priced LIKE A BIG ONE. And that is what you expect to eat! A big dish. Instead nope, they leave you half-hungry so you will order more. Alright, fine, but then you should lower the prices! No, this is not what an Italian trattoria is supposed to be like. As an Italian like myself, you should know what it means. For non Italian folks: trattoria are supposed to be like restaurants, but much less fancy where the focus is on both quantity (abundant) and quality (local, homemade) for a modest price. Both were quite poor. This is just not fair, and they know it. I wish people in Zürich knew any better.

Service was completely bad, first she didn't listen to me and then she told the boss I said it wrong and still had to pay for it. Even though I couldn't have known that the dish wasn't the one for 8.- but for 22.- it was both tuna So yes, I heard the waitress blaspheming the boss. And otherwise very bad service. The food was poor for the price and not special. I know 1000 better tapas restaurants in Zurich. Catastrophe

The decoration is the best thing here. Food was cold and bland, service required at least two reminders per request, despite the restaurant being only half full. Italo sound is good and suitable, but far too loud, normal conversation is impossible. That was the first and last time here.

Met friends visiting Zurich today at Trattoria Sempre. The food was excellent - we shared an assortment of delicious Italian dishes and salads. What I love most about the restaurant is the unique warm atmosphere and welcoming friendliness of the staff. A miserable, cold grey winter afternoon was transformed into a warm and wonderful experience sharing great food and conversation with friends in the cosy ambience of Trattoria Sempre. Will be back often!

The food was delicious. There were two of us and we took 5 portions to share. It was just the right amount for us. However, there was no more room left for dessert. The restaurant has a nice, personal interior. It's worth visiting the downstairs toilet just to admire the interior of the stairwell and downstairs.

Gorgeous place to eat italian food in Zurich 🇮🇹 They have the best vegetarian arancini in town! And the music they're playing reminds me of my childhood.

Only the name is Italian. Really poor quality of dishes. Equally small portions. Sliced ​​ham from the cutting board cut very badly, truffle gnocchi chock-full of oil, sliced…. 3 small, very cooked slices. Italian cuisine is something completely different. A real tourist trap

If you’re looking for authentic Italian food, come here! The pizzetta pistachio was light, well season, and full of flavor! We loved the Ragu do Vitello, the veal breaks upon the touch of your fork, and the white polenta was so creamy. The one down side we had was with the Rigatoni rose e pecorino, it was too salty for us, however the pasta was cooked perfectly, it had a perfect chew. We capped off the dinner with the highly recommended tiramisu and cheesecake Al pistachio, and wow was our server, Irfan was correct. The cheesecake was not dense and fluffy, while the tiramisu had a great balance of flavor and not overpowered by the coffee or sweetness.

Very nice Italian restaurant in the historic district of Niederdorf. The place is full of objects and details that recall Italian events and traditions. The staircase leading to the bathroom is famous. The food is good and the concept of sharing dishes is very modern. The dishes should be served a little warmer but overall the food is good. Very nice atmosphere, slightly uncomfortable chairs. Very friendly service like a trattoria, friendly waitress. Food to review, big disappointment. Fried pizza tasted like plastic and the seasoning was low quality. Rigatoni alla gricia with exactly 0 grams of pecorino but lots of cream and parmesan with bacon of dubious origin. Meat served cold and with half a kilo of rocket on top. A positive note is the fried fish which should be mixed but made up of 95% squid. I thought better given the reviews and the praise of authentic cuisine.

The quality of the food is very fair for the prices they have. If you are looking for real food in Zurich there are other places that are a better option

We were there for dinner with the family. The concept is mega. Being able to share dishes with the family and try a little bit of everything is right up my alley. The individual dishes are very tasty and traditionally prepared. I find the ambience to be something different than the usual. You immediately feel comfortable. The service is very friendly and the food comes quickly.

We went for a family lunch a few weeks ago. As an Italian, what can I say... the food is delicious and of truly excellent quality! The idea of ​​being able to take multiple dishes and share them is also wonderful! So you can taste a bit of everything and honestly I couldn't find anything negative to say about the dishes we chose! The staff is very friendly and really works hard! The place is particular and eccentric! Maybe if they made it modern it would lose some of its charm! I would say go ahead like this!! Highly recommended for a dinner with family or friends to taste Italian specialties for all tastes! Even for vegetarians! There's nothing vegan yet but maybe they'll update the menu! Overall I repeat, excellent!

The regatoni roae e pecorino was absolutely amazing. We had to go back three times to get the same thing in the few days we were there. The abuse is o packed with flavor to the point that we didn’t leave any on the plate. Not only that but the noodles themselves are expertly made and have a nice Aldente bite that you look for in homemade pasta. The atmosphere is pretty spot on as well, being surrounded by lush plants in a courtyard. The staff was always super friendly as well and always made sure we were taken care of. The only thing is that it gets busy so either make a reservation or get there on the earlier side.

Food just wasn't great. Meat as tough as shoe soles. One of the salad bowls was filled with bread and only about 4 pieces of cucumbers etc. Starters ok but not enough to knock your socks off. The house wine is terrible, so don't order it. That's why we switched to a better one. We've eaten much better there.
