Most authentic ramen I've had in Europe. The Tonkotsu broth is simmered for 18 hours, very savoury !

Definitely worth visiting, We tried gyoza and bao bun which they were really nice.My choice was dry pork noodles absolutely fantastic, my partner had vegeterian one and could be better. Overall we were happy.

I have noticed lately that the quality of the cuisine has clearly declined. I have been there regularly since it opened (5-6 times). Cold food, literally taken out of the fridge, thrown on the broth, no attention paid to presentation, no seasoning on the food so the feeling of eating flavorless vegetables. Having tasted a chicken ramen, I ended up with a ball of meat, the cook didn't even take the time to cut the chicken into strips. The broth doesn't break bricks either. Looks more and more like a ramen you could eat in any big chain. I strongly advise against it, especially for the price!

Yeah it's good but impossible to reserve. So you arrive, then we wait in front, then we are made to come in and sit on stools. Unattended coat racks don't make you want to put your jacket down. Too tight, no backrest, no services (I had to ask, to which I got a response like: - “A fork, is that enough?” If I ask for services, these are services that I would like. In short, not pleasant to eat like this. The food is however very good.

Price a bit expensive for Ramen. The presentation of the dishes is not very neat. The double portion taken with the chef's option, not really visible. The midday option to add 3.- for 3 gioza is nice. Too bad the ramen and the ingredients aren't great. Chicken not enough flavor and not many pieces. The eggs are good but you have to take the chef's option. Undercooked ramen. Plus import from the United States!?! Non-Japanese chefs in the preparation of dishes. The chopsticks are disposable and not reusable, I don't understand why they don't use chopsticks that you wash. Damage to the environment. The soup base is very good. The giozas are good, but I don't think they are homemade. Service: when you arrive there are people, it's a bit chaotic. You ask if we can sit down and we tell you we have to see the manager at the bar. Arrived at the counter after 10 minutes, no need for the manager the same person answers you finally you take the place you want. Um, there is really poor organization in customer management and responses. Lack of consistency. Not to mention the waiter reverses people's dishes. So without asking any questions you trust and taste. Bad luck reversed. Failed experience for my part. I was not seduced by this place.

The Ramen remained crunchy until the last bite (congratulations) but the broth is too salty for my taste, the crispy chicken is good.

Coming back from 3weeks in Japan where I had at least 1 ramen a day, I'm trying all the Ramen in the neighborhood. This one has Tonkotsu, either shoyu or miso. They also have very good Karaage. It's my number 1 ramen, one of the few (if not the only one) that brings me back to Japan. However, they put too many unnecessary stuff in the Ramen (soy bean, ginger, mushroom).. I always order my tonkotsu with these, add extra spicy and Mayu, and here I am back in Japan.

Excellent Japanese cuisine. Small card but very balanced. Homemade bowls, ramen, bun bao and gyozas. Various drinks, good Umamido IPA beer, various tea but no coffee. No reservations, but the wait rarely exceeds 20 minutes during peak hours.

This Japanese restaurant specializing in ramen is located in the district under the train station in Lausanne. Old neighborhood bistro which has been renovated a little but which retains a slightly dated look. The welcome is very professional and friendly. The service is fast, fortunately given the crowds waiting patiently outside in the hope of getting a table. No reservations possible so you have to come early or be patient. The food was very good. Special mention for the Bao Buns and gyozas. The ramen noodles turn out to be really excellent and the toppings are generous. The taste of the broth on the other hand was not unforgettable. I will try the spiciest one next time. I was a little surprised by the origin of the poultry: Poland for certain dishes. I think that given the success of the establishment, using Swiss poultry would be wise.

I want to highlight that the service was spectacular, we came from Madrid to Switzerland for a few days of business, we visited Lausanne and we were tempted to eat Ramen and fortunately we arrived here. MAIA attended us with a kindness, charm and dedication that I want to highlight, we are lucky to have her. We ordered a starter and three ramen and it was all very good. I will return every time I come to Lausanne!

Since Lausanne is a small town with perhaps a total of four ramens, let's compare it with what I think is the best of all, Doki Doki. Umamido provides really tiny portions of chachu, the broth is far from being memorable, while the noodles are average too. All the ingredients seem fresh, but I end up hungry, without the feeling of travelling to Japan, and, as often in Switzerland, paying a ridiculous price for something that is 90% made of hot water and noodles. However, the restaurant's architecture is one of the best in town, it feels authentic, wooden panels and benches, high ceilings and windows, posters. Service is also very welcoming and on time.

The restaurant is quite small but there’s a lot of tables inside. I felt like the food was lacking as my friend and I felt like the noodles were too firm, undercooked, and that the broth was too salty. I forgot the name and I can’t find it on the menu anymore but it was a vegetarian bun and it was absolutely AMAZING! I’m from the U.S so I was looking forward to some semblance of asian food on my trip to Europe but I was left quite disappointed.

Good ramen! Located next to the train station, Umamido has an ideal location in the heart of Lausanne. Even on weekdays, there is sometimes a queue outside the restaurant in the evening. The menu is varied and offers Japanese cuisine (Europeanized). The food is good and the quantity is perfect. Note that the restaurant offers Korean dishes and that the ramen is still Europeanized.

In Lausanne's heart, a ramen bar does dwell, Surprisingly authentic, with flavors to compel. The staff, in English, greets with friendly cheer, A warm embrace in the chill of Swiss frontier. Though prices soar, as is the local creed, It's worth the cost for broth that's rich indeed. A bowl of warmth, a culinary embrace, In this Swiss town, a surprising taste of grace.

I go there mainly for the ramen. Safe value

It was a great first to eat Ramen! What a great dish! Delicious ! As wand handling is not my strong point, they offered me a very effective alternative to stay in tradition 😊 a big thank you to the team... I had a great time!

The ramen was good (I hope they don't use monosodium glutamate) but expensive for the size of the portion. Usually ramen is served in a large bowl, here the portions are rather small. The atmosphere is quite stressful because there is a large line of customers waiting outside at all times, even if the servers are very friendly it means that they work at full speed so we end up eating in a hurry and leaving the table quickly for the next service. I would not repeat due to the size of the portions and the stressful atmosphere in the place to eat in about 20 minutes

Best ramen I’ve had in Switzerland in my year of living here

The chashu was soft and delicious. A bowl of ramen cost 23 CHF.

This is seriously one of the best Ramen I have had. Also price was okay. The Bao Bun was okay but not overwhelmingly good.

Ramen has been delicious: literally brought me back to Tokyo. Do not expect any of the typical nippon atmospheres though... inside is very cold and poorly decorated with anything which could recall Japan.

Great Ramen. It's worth waiting in line even in the rain.

The staff is very helpful but the ramen noodle is not chewy and a bit undercook. The tantanmen is not spicy at all, taste like shoyu ramen.

An excellent place for ramen in Lausanne, with friendly and professional service, in a warm place and surprisingly not too noisy even when the room is full. Funky music as a bonus! I will come back without hesitation.

A downside though is that we feel too pushed towards the exit once our dish is finished.

My favorite restaurant in Lausanne. No other compares to Umadido when it comes to ramen. The ramens are tender, very tasty and garnished. Their gyozas are also excellent. I love going there from time to time when I need my little comfort meal. Plus, the service is great and the employees are super friendly!

For a first time in this restaurant, it was great! But you need to pay attention to a few points: the restaurant is a victim of its own success and so you have to call in advance to find out if there are tables (you cannot reserve) and come quickly because this small restaurant can fill up very quickly! Despite this, we were served very quickly, the starter (gyozas) were great and the dishes really excellent! The servers can sometimes be a little upset but given the number of customers, it's difficult not to be stressed and focused! The space is small, you may hear the conversation of your table neighbors very clearly, we unfortunately came across a couple who were talking very loudly and that spoiled our enjoyment of being there a little… but no big deal , you get used to it! There is no dessert!!! I love desserts but given how this restaurant is a victim of its success, it’s normal that it doesn’t offer dessert so that customers don’t linger!

Nice restaurant to eat their famous ramen. I had read in various places that it was very good. We had a problem with one of our soups, and since we had already waited 10-15 minutes to sit down, we just continued eating it. I discreetly told the waiter what had happened in terms of the problem with the soup, we were entitled to an apology but no discount, I even expected that we would not pay for it. plate. Ramen is a popular dish, if you pay a certain price, the quality must follow and always does.

Smiling and warm staff. Share their opinions and know their products (map). The ramen is good. I have been there several times, and I would return. The meat is tender and the quantity is sufficient for a normal eater. I add the marinated egg because I love it. And always take gyoza to start. The place is easy to access. Be careful: the clock strikes noon, and the restaurant quickly fills up. Remember to anticipate if you are in a hurry. But the dishes are quickly served at the table!

The Kara Miso Tonkotzu and Ramen du Chef are flavourful. Thumbs up. However can skip the Japanese Fried Chicken Bun. Good attempt but the meat is hard to bite and the unnecessary cucumber can be removed.

Delicious ramen in terms of European standard. The miso broth is spot on. Most importantly the ramen is super warm. A must under such cold weather. Staff are super friendly and explain the menu. They also give me a big napkin to cover your shirt. Very customer centric. The only thing I am not happy is they are playing American music. Nearly perfect experience.

Best ramen in Lausanne, but the payment terminal's US-style tipping prompt is a letdown. I see the financial logic for them – no downside, only extra bucks. But it's a cheap move, importing this lousy tipping culture. Dropping a 1-star review to counterbalance their incentive game. #NoToTippingCulture

Their only fault is that they are so successful, everything is exquisite, but at busy times you have to be patient to find a table, because it is not possible to reserve.

We're very happy to have found this ramen place in Lausanne. Clean restaurant, friendly staff, the food is delicious. Their ramen's one of the best we've had; deep flavour and rich broth with chewy, al dente noodles. They do not take any reservations, but the kitchen is open non stop from 11:30-22:00, 7/7.

What I prefer in a restaurant is perfection. Umamido did not disappoint!

Went in for late dinner, could only sit outside as it was quite busy and popular. I enjoyed the noodles and the chicken meat was very juicy and tender! The broth could’ve been a bit more intense in flavours, but it was still very enjoyable for a warm soup noodle meal!

Great restaurant! I took the “Kara miso Tonkotsu ramen” with the additional toppings according to the chef's suggestion. A massacre. Honestly very close to those we ate in Japan! No reservations possible, so plan for a little wait if it's midday in WK. We waited around 20 minutes for a table of 6 on a Saturday lunchtime. The game is worth it! Warm service! We will come back 😊

Waiting 20 minutes to eat overpriced (and not so incredible) dishes in a stressful atmosphere - the waiter who asked us after eating to leave because other customers were waiting in line, I would have done without it.

For the decor, we are in an old bistro in Lausanne, which clashes a bit with the restaurant. Very friendly and efficient service, the ramen is really good (good?), there is something for everyone, and it is well served. Small homemade white beer offered (the concept comes from Belgium, the beer too) really excellent, as well as the kimchi and tea. Not possible to reserve, be careful, in the evening it can quickly fill up

The best ramen I have had outside of Japan, or as my grandmother says 日本

If you are craving for ramen with an al dente bite in the noodles, balance of the flavour of the broth and also perfectly cooked eggs (with a semi-translucent yolks), then Umamido is the place to go. The cold ramen I had (with Yuzu) was fantastic and probably the best ramen I have had in Europe.

Very very good ramen! The best in Lausanne at the moment. Only one small downside, the extras in your ramen have very little difference from the original dish. This is where I think there must be an improvement on the umamido side... ;) Looking forward to coming back! ;)
