Very friendly service and amazing appetizers served with the drink and stunning view of the local piazza and the lake. Amazing 🤩

Stopped by for a snack and coffee. Fortunately the coffee I had tasted good even though I didn't ask for right one. I never really got the espresso sized drinks. One mouthful and its gone. I've found it's always difficult to get a big latte in Europe. My cheesecake ham maxi toasti was nice but not huge. I guess I'm used to getting spoilt. Good people watching spot and the were mostly friendly but didn't go over the top to please. A good experience.

Quite a small place but well organised, excellent hot chocolate even if the weather wasn't the best. Strategic position given the proximity to the lake and the city center.

The best ice cream in Lugano can be eaten here. I have tried all the ice cream shops together with my family and for us this is the right place to enjoy quality ice cream.

They gave us dirty napkins and simply turned them over and served us with dissatisfied faces

Tables are not cleared. The waitress doesn't take the order. We looked for another restaurant.

I have no complaints with the breakfast staff. Tender and fresh brioche, decent cappuccino, pleasant service.

We sat down at 4.05pm and after 30 minutes we still hadn't ordered. This is because, despite our multiple requests, the waiters decided to serve people who arrived even twenty minutes after us. Apparently two girls alone don't deserve the attention of the staff. This is quite ridiculous, especially since other 'customers' were served calmly in an adequate time. Needless to say, the staff are rude and disrespectful. Lucky only for the location in the center. At least the unfortunate ones can get up and find another bar nearby with friendly staff.

Good coffee, as an Italian I always look for the best coffee and this satisfies. Excellent pastries and ice cream. Top location

Welcoming bar in the central square of Lugano, from which you can see the beautiful lake. The restaurant has a warm and beautiful veranda where you can enjoy breakfast or an aperitif. The staff is very kind and the service is super efficient. The coffee is very good

I hope the kitchens are cleaner than the toilets. If that's not the case, I advise avoiding this establishment

Very unfriendly service. The lady should not have any customer contact. She seemed bored and was rude. We'll never come back...the espresso didn't taste good anyway. There are much better ones in Lugano.

Delicious ice cream and they also put chocolate in the cone. I think it's the place with the best ice cream. I also had an aperitif several times and always had a great time. The staff is also very kind and the environment is very beautiful and well-kept, with the terrace overlooking the main square of Lugano. Try their ice cream, it's really worth it!

Stumbled upon this place searching for Sunday breakfast or brunch spots without a reservation. We had some croissants and coffee because their kitchen wasn’t open yet (opens at 12:00 noon). A lively spot for people watching in the central square next to the lakeside. We also enjoyed the waiters with their cheeky humor - making the dining experience more memorable!

I don’t know why people are writing bad reviews about this place. The staff was friendly, prices were OK and the view was great from the table. I had a coffee, a chocolate and a croissant which were tasting fresh and warm. Good place for a quick stop on your way to explore the city. It was my first time in Switzerland - please make sure to turn your roaming data off when visiting this country otherwise you’ll be charged a ton. This cafeteria has a great Wi-Fi connection as well which was a big plus. Would recommend for a solo traveler.

Very disappointed Vanini has always been an institution in Lugano and waiting 3pm to take the order seems absurd to me considering that the place was empty, I can understand the wait when the place is full but given the number of waiters and the number of people at the tables it is unacceptable, among other things also rude response from one of the waitresses who where to call the Colleague also annoyed as she couldn't take the order herself, including if we split the tables. However, the boy was nice and apologised. This evaluation is for managers not for kids

Visited on 10/27/23: very nice location directly in front of the Lugano town hall, decent Denmark cup. Prices normal.

One of the servers is particularly unpleasant. I go to sit down and he trips over my foot at that moment. I was going to say sorry to him and he gave me a black look. And when I sat down my companion told me that the waiter looked at me badly every time he passed. This is no way to treat customers. It's not my fault if he doesn't watch where he's putting his foot and it's even less of a reason to look at a customer badly. I had a hot chocolate and it had more whipped cream than anything else. It was also served lukewarm or cold. For 6.50, it's really paying for air. Served without biscuits or water.

Very nice view but that’s about it. Anh yes, also fast service but what’s the use! Cappuccino was served at room temperature. Waffles are basically biscuits: nothing related to waffles except the shape. The waiter was not nice at all when we made a remark that the table needs cleaning. He said “this is just water not a stain”. Seriously?

I never thought you could encounter such rudeness right in the center of Lugano in such an apparently nice place but where you are laughed at by the employees (two brats) for asking a trivial question, review the staff and I recommend hiring someone with more professional manners because even if I would have liked to buy your chocolate after this experience I am more than certain that I don't want to try anything, shame on you

One of the male waiters pretended to not speak or understand English! And when we asked him about some dishes he wasn’t answering in a good way.

My favorite ice cream! Pistachio and grandmother's cream are the 2 flavors that I recommend to everyone! Staff always quite friendly, more or less. The only flaw was that I saw the owner (or the head of staff, I don't know who it was) several times severely scold the staff in front of the customers, which I find not very nice.

We bought two ice creams for our children and we were not allowed to sit inside despite being a big place with several available tables. Disappointing and really poor quality service. The way this business is run is not client oriented. Staff lack common sense.

The waffle were really really bad we couldn’t finish it, we only ate 2 bite. It had a wired taste and was not fresh at all. It was like it was cooked several days ago. The ice-cream was good but lots of cream. It’s very pricey. Staff are not friendly and they just want you to order fast.

Bad experience. The waiter who served us laughed at our English, we understood his jokes in Italian perfectly. It was very unpleasant. I don't know if this treatment of tourists is common, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

The coupes were very tasty. The service was very friendly. It's worth either getting an ice cream across the alley or having a dessert outside on the forecourt. Gladly again!

Vanini has very good (although not very cheap) coupes and attentive, friendly service. However, the few toilets upstairs are messy. If the kitchen adheres to the same hygiene standards, I advise not to eat a meal there

Had a cappucino and espresso on the terrace combined with two croissants. Everything was nice, and we got the orders in fast! Sadly, many people were smoking near our table, so that kinda ruined it a bit...

Delicious ice cream! Creamy and not too sweet. The dark chocolate flavor is perfect for those like me who are intolerant. Adequate prices for a city like Lugano.

Delicious ice cream in the center of Lugano. It certainly costs more than Italy, but it is in line with prices in Switzerland. We tried the gourmet cones, which are decorated with chocolate and a praline, I recommend the pistachio one! You can find different flavours, the stracciatella which is made with their chocolate is absolutely worth trying.

Not worth going, there are plenty other places nearby to go to! We were at first ignored when we wanted to order and when it finally came, my wife‘s key lime pie was rubbery and stale, probably a few days if not a week old. After complaining to the waiter they offered a fresh slice but with the first half broken off. Seems to me they did it on purpose. And also my coffee was cold when they brought it. Staff is not very friendly. I suggest you go somewhere else

With all the competition, including quality, that has been created in recent years and yet another price increase in recent weeks, the fact of having removed the chocolate inside the cone has given the final blow to this, once best ice cream shop in Lugano. After 20 minutes of waiting without a waitress even taking a look at our table, we changed the restaurant.

Great location at lake Lugano. I ordered a cafe late and it was serve in a tall glass which is interesting because it’s not an ice drink. Croissant was great but the service could be a bit better I’d say. It was slow and not very attentive even when the store wasn’t super busy.

Great for a light lunch or a snack. Plenty of space and lots of seats to choose from. The menu is also vast, with lots of salty or sweet choices. Everything was tasty and out waiter was very nice and quick. We'll be coming back!

Bad service provided by unpolite staff. 1. Rude staff, they must train them how to deal with customers. 2. Overpriced products. 3. You order and u wait for more than 25 minutes, then staff bring wrong order. I would really recommend the owner of this place to close permanently or fix this kind of miserable condition if he wants to continue in the market. (Rate is zero star not one).

I think Google MUST consider adding a zero-star rating because it is the only rating I would give to this place. The only advantage they’ve got is the view, apart from that nothing deserves to spend a penny. Food is awful and overpriced, staff is rude and treat you like if it was for free. I will never ever come back and I advise everyone to reschedule their plan if this place is in it.

Today I went to Vanini dolce e caffe for the first time, and I was very disappointed with their service and quality of food. The food is over rated and over priced including the gelato. The staff are so so rude and they make you feel unwelcome. Will never go back to this place again.

Popular ice cream shop and tea room in the center of Lugano. The shop is attached to the Vanini tea room. They make quite unique and esthetic ice cream cornets👌 They have an interesting selection of classical or more original flavors, mostly inspired by Italy ( hazelnut, lemon, amarena cherries…)

The waffles are rather dry and in my opinion they are not homemade.

Large café in the town hall square of Lugano. In addition to the cafeteria with drinks on site, there is an ice cream shop next door. There aren't many flavors to choose from and they are all very classic but the pistachio flavor is the best in town! The cookie taste is much more disappointing... the cone is very good and crunchy. Prices are in line with other ice cream shops in the city. The service was a bit slow and poorly organised
