Classic cuisine at the highest level since time immemorial...

A bit of a hidden gem in the middle of the old town. One of the few restaurants in Zurich with “Private Dining” offer at no extra charge.

Small and cozy with candle light! good service, especially the senior staff, probably the manager, he never seemed rushing even it was a full house. His pace was just right. Food was all fresh and good starting from appetiser, Tuna tataki, then to main course Veal with noodles, then dessert. (I forgot taking pictures for all dishes) The pasta is freshly made, it states noodles but actually tastes exactly like papadelle. one of the best and fresh pasta I had. During main course, I appreciate they first offered half of the portion, they warmed the remaining portion on a small stove on the side. Then they offered the remaining while we finished the first half so the main was warm and nice! We just found this restaurant by chance, it was impressive and to our surprise, very good! Enjoy and recommend!

Somehow this visit failed to inspire me. It probably had something to do with the location of the table right at the entrance to the restaurant. The dishes were well prepared but not convincingly presented. My potato gratin was almost drowned by the sauce that spread across the plate.

It's furnished in a really old way, but it's also a very old house. A bit tight to walk around everywhere, but otherwise pretty good. The food could do with a larger quantity, there is a little bit on the plate. You have to look carefully, it's quite hidden.

We were a group of 7 for dinner on Saturday evening and all the guests were very happy with their meal. The food was excellent and the staff absolutely charming. The only slight downside is that the decoration is a little outdated but that doesn't detract from the quality of this restaurant.

I have been here for dinner. The place is amazing and the dinner was excellent. I have started with rocket salad with balsamic and parmesan then I got to the main dish, a tender veal beef with chanterelle cream sauce served with noodles and broccoli. The service is excellent. The experience here was awesome.

Price/performance is good, it's not cheap, but it's favorable in relation to the outstanding quality.

Traditional restaurant in the old town on the left side of the Limmat. Cozy, rustic dining room, spacious, comfortable tables for 2/4. A warm and excellent service team served us and was very attentive. The food is of excellent quality, the meat portions are large, and the side dishes are served from pans. We chose the rack of lamb in a herb coating with potato gratin and beans wrapped in bacon. The red wine Gran Cruor 2014 from Priorat tasted excellent. For dessert, burnt cream and orange wedges marinated in Grand Marnier with a scoop of vanilla ice cream were a good ending.

Dining here is like being welcomed into someone’s home, with an amazingly professional service - a 10/10 dining experience! The food was also very high quality. The menu does definitely cater more to meat-eaters though, beware if you are vegan or vegetarian.

Chic restaurant serving Swiss-Italian cuisine. They cook all the “gold standards”, we tried several - delicious. The interior is in the "Tyrolean" style, very authentic and cozy. The restaurant is named after the Valtelina Valley in the mountainous part of Italian Lombardy, so I recommend trying wines from this region. Mountain Nebiollo in oak barrels is very good and magically matches the kitchen and atmosphere. Expensive, cool, uncompromising.

Was all going well until it got to 1.55 and I asked for some bread to finish the sauce of my main dish. Waiter answered yes. 5 mins pass by and I ask another waiter for the bread to be told very abruptly that "the kitchen is closed!" I checked that they meant the kitchen was closed to bread, not deserts, not coffee or another course but bread - abruptly yes! 51 chf for fillet de pêche equivalent that was spoilt by the attitude of a waiter and the lack of 2 chf worth of bread. For me it was as much about the way the message was conveyed that left a feeling of - it is 2 pm, we are closed now pay and get out rather than the fact that the kitchen was closed. Although a heads up either when I originally asked for bread or at any time before the 2 pm cut-off that; "by the way, I'd like to mention that the kitchen will be closed in # minutes in case you wanted anything else". Saw this place when planning our Zurich trip whilst in Manchester, England..it looked quality. I studied catering at Middlesex Polytechnic in the early 80's and to me this is the epitome of classic old school fine dining. The decor was comforting and cosy, the greeting by the staff was welcoming. I ordered a selection of cold meats accompanied by a type of fruit loaf I had never encountered before and my wife had the Celery soup which was wholesome and tasty. For main course I had the Veal with marsalsa sauce along side some spatzle, which was rich creamy and a dream to eat. My wife had the Sole which again was perfectly cooked. For dessert I had an apple tart flambé with Calvados my favourite brandy. The whole dining experience was pure class and theatre. What made it for me was when one of the gentlemen serving us cooked a Crepe Suzette in the classic way in front of us for two equally impressed customers who looked on in awe and respect as we did. Thank you all for a truly memorable experience we will never forget and left me wanting more....it was a trip back in time where restaurants knew how to treat customers.

Given the very high prices (the wine list is really cheeky, a smaller salad as a starter can quickly cost around 30 CHF) you also expect absolute top quality in the service and unfortunately we didn't get that. There were several mistakes made, the staff seemed to be quite inexperienced, inattentive and uninterested. There are nicer experiences in Zurich in this, the highest, price category.

One of the oldest restaurants in Zürich (since 1487 on a building from 1325) this hidden gem is easy to miss as you walk past it in the old town. Inside, the gorgeously crafted wood paneling is complemented by the superb service and cuisine, featuring Zurich and Swiss classics such as the Zürcher Geschnetzeltes (Zurich-style sliced veal), but also seasonal delicacies such as white asparagus, wild boar, etc.
