Very good pizza! Upper room a little noisy....

Pizza soup or police My companion complained about the “4-Formaggie” because it tasted bitter, burnt and was also raw inside (picture). Any normal restaurant owner would apologize and ask if they could make a new pizza. Everything is different in this restaurant. The first thing he did was wave his cell phone around, show us pizza pictures from the internet and run away from the table in a huff. We sat there stupidly and didn't know what would happen next. After a few minutes the waiter came over again and pressed a cell phone with a German-speaking lady to my companion's ear. Another fruitless discussion took place. After I had finished my pizza, which by the way was undercooked but less burnt, we got up and wanted to pay at the cash register. There we met the spiteful owner again, who presented us with the full bill for both pizzas. Since we made it clear right away that we would only pay for a pizza, the discussion started again in front of the staff and guests. He talked himself into such a rage and gesticulated stupidly with his hands that even his “Pizza Award 2018”, which he pointed out to us, fell off the wall. His last joker was now; “I’ll call the police, they’ll be there in 2 minutes.” When we arrived after 5 minutes. When we asked where the police had gone, we discovered that he hadn't called them at all. He only did that now and shortly afterwards there was actually an officer in the bar. The innkeeper then talked his way out of it by saying that we didn't want to pay, whereupon we explained that that wasn't true and that we were only paying for what we had eaten. As usual, the officers first checked the personal details. Because of language problems, a second, third and fourth uniformed person was added. When we put the money on the counter for our consumption (without burnt pizza, of course), the situation relaxed and we were able to leave. The law enforcement officers were also quite irritated by the incident. On the way to the lake we laughed and scoffed at the origin of this ominous pizza award... Maybe it would be better to say at what temperature a pizza needs to be baked. Because of the many positive reviews, his relationship must be great. When we later told a local Ticino what we had experienced, it didn't surprise him at all and he told us that Ticino or Italians often stumble over their arrogance. The German-Swiss restorers are often much more successful in Ticino.

Excellent margherita pizza, with a high crust. I'll be back to try others.

Good Neapolitan pizza. Nice service. Reasonable prices. Somewhat sober location. Unfortunately no own parking spaces.

Lunch during the week. The pizza is truly amazing. There are both the variant with the high cornice and the normal one. You can also choose from a good range of pizzas, some special with refined ingredients or shapes. I absolutely recommend it.

Very kind service, average prices in Lugano. The pizza wasn't bad, considering that we are in Switzerland, while the meatballs were a little salty and above all few, considering the price. Fried pizza strips, with fondue, I recommend them.

Good service - polite, quick, competent. Culinary third star only because of pizza dough. Fettuccine funghi porcini didn't really taste like mushrooms, more like a spice. Pizza Quattro formaggi - too much sauce, not enough cheese, visually more like tomato soup. Pizza dough tasted very good.

Good pizza, super helpful staff

After seeing the photos of their pizzas we decided to take two takeaways, one with mushrooms and the other with ham and mushrooms and we liked them both very much. The dough was very good and we really like the Neapolitan-style pizza with the high crust so we were very satisfied. We'll take it here again!

Their pizza is delicious..the best in Lugano We tried a vegetable pizza with eggplant.. it is amazing and it is served fresh in front of you and the place smells delicious.

I went to this pizzeria after hearing good things about it, I was with my children. I was disappointed by the service, I didn't find anywhere near the typical hospitality of southern Italy. We waited a long time to be able to order, two couples without children at two separate tables who arrived after us ordered before us. Usually when you have children you are served a little earlier... I had to ask to be in charge. The pizzas arrived when at the table next to us, the couple who were there after us had practically finished eating. Otherwise Neapolitan style pizzas, giant crust, mine a little burnt, but quality ingredients, and an overall good pizza.

Family-friendly prices, quick service, large selection. Interesting beer selection. It's a shame that not all of the ingredients listed on the menu (ordered accordingly) were served. Beer deliveries (ordering complicated or delivered differently than ordered) are likely to be much better suited to the offer.

Great little restaurant. Very nice service and good price value

I don't go out much in Lugano since I live in Zurich, but together with some friends we came here for a pizza. The location is certainly loved by the local people as it was full, but it is not my type of pizza, too thin and therefore soggy in the middle as the sauce and mozzarella had soaked into the dough and deprived it of substance. I couldn't hold a slice in my hand as the dough didn't hold. The taste itself is not bad, but I actually prefer more "crispy" pizzas.

The sides of the pizza was too burnt. This is not the same as the dark spots that give it the characteristic Neapolitan look. But aside from that it was a great pizza

The place was fully booked. Crowded. Pizzas are Neapolitan style. Crazy good. I recommend a classic Margarita buffala. Wow! The service super friendly. Pizza baker too.

There was a lot going on that evening. It felt like more pizzas were picked up than were eaten in the full restaurant. Great food, but the wine list has a lot of room for improvement. Unfortunately I hardly found any local wine.

The best pizza I've ever eaten, I'm not exaggerating at all, I've been here for 4 days and I've never said anything about it at another restaurant, in one word, AMAZING.

Arrived in Lugano pretty late and this pizza place was recommended as a good place to grab some food located pretty close to our hotel (Hotel Splendide Royal). 5* for the service; we weren't sure what we were walking into and what language we would need to speak. Since this is the Italian side of Switzerland, Italian was mostly spoken but the person helping us recognized we could use some help and spoke English to fill in some of our language gaps with the order. 4* for the food. We simply ordered a pizza to share which was reasonably priced at 16 CHF and asked for some water. Been a while since we were in Europe so had a bit of sticker shock when I saw the bill with the bottle of water for 7 CHF. I know this is typical and kind of forgot so probably be better off ordering a non-water option for that price:)

Definitely recommend the Pizza Montanara! It’s lightly fried and absolutely delicious. Never had a pizza in that style before.

The pizzas tasted outstanding, but the toppings on the pizzas were rather meager. Service was ok, but not really efficient or friendly.

We went yesterday with some friends who are already regulars at this place and I must say I had a great time. Qualified and very kind staff, and then what a fire, excellent food, top pizza and above all Neapolitan fried pizza, a real spectacle. We will definitely be back.

Ate here with a group of 8. Due to the rain we ate inside. Very friendly service. Had to wait a long time for our starter. The bruschetta was very, very hard; you can hardly cut or bite them off. Most of the wines on the wine list were gone, but fortunately a (chilled) red wine was still available. The pizzas were tasty. Quite a thick crust.

I am sorry to say that we have never had a good meal for the past 2 weeks in Switzerland. Lugano is our 3rd last stop before we say goodbye to Switzerland. We are glad that we found Verace. We love the pizzas, services, vibe, and energy of this place. The napoletana pizza is really so good👍👍👍👍 I never had such a delicious pizza in my entire life. I wish I could bring the pizza 🍕 back to my country. ☆ another important plus point: the restaurant open till 1030pm, which is really awesome

The staff is always very kind. The pizza is very good, classic Neapolitan and they also have excellent cuisine for first courses. However, it remains one of the best pizzas in Lugano 👍 Prices around 15/18 CHF and there is also fried pizza. I recommend the cuoppo: light and well fried, 18 CHF and you can eat it easily for two, as a starter. Absolutely outdoor tables, overlooking the small square.

Very disappointing! Menu of the day: Cordonbleu with baked potatoes... A piece (6x6cm!!) of frozen food from the deep fryer with lukewarm potato cubes without spices, not even salted... just oily! Portion size: Like a failed children's menu served in a cold plate! Just horrible. Also the salad plate with avocados. You should probably file a missing report for the avocado... Pizza bread on the table was okay I would say: there are no professionals in the “kitchen”. Not recommended for eating from the kitchen! Price-performance: inadequate

We had dinner pizza and pasta. The pizza crust is so thin and become soggy. You can hold it with your hand and has to be eaten with fork and knife. Pasta and service are good.

I can say that it is one of the best Neapolitan pizzas in Ticino. The price is a plus. Finally normal. Very good chocolate cake. Really recommended place.

Good pizza! Very busy when we came (on a Saturday night in February). Seemed understaffed (everyone was running around all the time doing many different things). Swiss prices but more reasonable than other places in the city.

I had a very unique (for me) pizza here called Pizza Montanara. It is a Margherita pizza that is half fried and half baked. This results with an incredible flaky and crunchy crust from the frying but with the traditional margherita pizza top. I’ve not seen this on any other menu, and I have LOOKED! I would go out of my way to have this again.

Came with family for dinner. Warm welcome, smile, we ordered pizzas. Super good made over a wood fire. I recommend it with my eyes closed

The best pizza you can get at the Lago di lugano. When visiting lugano and searching a good pizza you have to go to verace.

What can I say, if you are looking for a proper pizza and like an environment with friendly and helpful staff then this pizzeria is for you. When we want pizza we always come to Verace, my brother even comes there from Bellinzona. The only negative note, but one that can definitely be improved, are the knives, they are not toothy and we were six people cutting the pizza to the sound of whistling on the plate. However, the waiter was kind and after I pointed it out to him he brought us the classic knives that all pizzerias have with the black handle and serrated blade. For the rest... top marks!
