Very unpleasant, the most famous cheese fondue was bitter and unpleasant. There were also several famous dishes specially prepared for me, which were even more difficult to swallow. It ended up costing 191 Swiss dollars, which is simply incomprehensible. What a food desert

Everything was very delicious, and my meal was especially delicious! The waiters were very kind, they showed us how to eat the Fondue and we were given full advice on choosing the dishes. It's true that we Hungarians are a little bit shy, but you have to try it once! :/)

To flee !!! Restaurant for tourists, exorbitant prices for a water fondue! They want us to believe in quality by inflating prices, but that doesn't work for everyone, I've never eaten such a tasteless fondue with such a bad texture! The servers are also unpleasant and in bad faith. Worst experience in a "traditional" restaurant. You will surely find better elsewhere, where you will not pay 48.-/person for hot water fondue.

In first i will like to say that the two waitresses, they were almost vomiting when serving the people ( we didn't feel not 1% happiness or joyful , we just feeled that we must go from there , not a smile , nothing... ) 2nd , the food was ok , just for the fondue they didn't served any potatoes , but maybe so must be . For the manager of the Restaurant : The people that work in a restaurant with a such a good location and History must make a good experience for the Guests , not anything else. I want to come next time , for sure , and hope to see a Change .

Amazing tasteful and calm vibe, pretty building, super kind and polite staff! Classic style. Raclette was not served totally as expected, but tasted really good.

A real traditional fondue restaurant. Olde worlde. The fondue was delicious. There is a plentiful choice on the menu. Staff were excellent. So very friendly and attentive when so busy. I only gave 4 for atmosphere as there were huge long table parties that were very noisy but I guess it was probably a Christmas bash.

Food is good but overrated and expensive. Not enough waiters or space. Very crowded, noisy, hot, and smoky/smelly.

Although 7 of us wanted to eat at 1:00 p.m., the restaurant was half empty and we said nothing was available... very unfriendly. I wouldn't go there again, regardless Oh, we couldn't/weren't allowed to eat.

Restaurant for “tourists” flee!! We were 8 adults and 2 babies aged 15 months to eat a fondue. The restaurant was half empty and a large table was offered to us. But the gruff boss ordered us to fold and dispose of the strollers even though he had no chairs for babies….. And then the restaurateurs cry that there is a crisis…..

Nice setting in an old house. The service is nice. The original schnitzel is cooked with in the restaurant hall, really nice.

It was cold and damp outside and we were looking for french onion soup. It was different but very goo.

The evening started with an unfriendly greeting and ended with an incorrect bill. We had reserved a table and planned to enjoy the evening with raclette. The service was semi-friendly and the owner (an older, grumpy gentleman) talked about our table behind our backs the entire time. Not a warm atmosphere in which you would like to eat. Valais - home of raclette...the Valais jug is more of an overpriced tourist terminus for people and cheese. The cheese came to the table already baked (there was only one type and 3 slices each). No special seasoning, no choice of cheese, potatoes, onions and cucumbers... that's it. You have to eat quickly, otherwise the three slices of cheese will harden quickly and this has nothing to do with a cozy raclette evening. For the price you pay, it's almost a disgrace. Finally there was an espresso with rancid chocolate and a pot of whipped cream! for espresso. Every Italian would turn in his grave here. Of course there had to be an incorrect item on the bill and you weren't even said goodbye when you left. Conclusion - Anyone looking for an unfriendly and overpriced cheese eating competition is welcome here. For us it was definitely the last time.

In general very expensive price for what they offer. Very high prices for the fondue we had. We left dissatisfied with the treatment received. They spoke badly to us for taking our dog, when there is no prohibition for it. In the end there was a lack of control with the collection.

In general it's a nice place for Swiss traditional food. Unfortunately, the owner is rude and shameless. Overall, he treated us very poorly. If it wasn't for a competent waiter, we would have definitely left the restaurant before ordering. I'm definitely not coming back.

Unfortunately not as I remembered it. The quality has deteriorated significantly. In this price segment you expect a real Wiener Schnitzel and top service. Neither was given. No “preparation at the table”, 2 out of 6 meals were completely or partially wrong, there was no platter service that was ordered, etc.

Sad…. 62 francs for a “Wiener” schnitzel… that was just sad, neither crispy nor particularly good meat. Total disappointment. Never again.

The Walliser Kanne in Basel impresses with excellent service and a selection of authentic Swiss dishes. Despite the lively lunchtime hustle and bustle, which brings with it some noise, the atmosphere remains inviting, characterized by the well-coordinated team.

The place to experience original cheese fondue. Great

The food and the plates were not warm. We ordered a Chateau Briand for 4 people (470.- with tip). The meat was very good and very tender. The vegetables and the Bernaise sauce that came with it were lukewarm to cold. The vegetables had no taste, as if they had been pulled out of water. The French fries on the second floor were soggy, not crispy enough and cold. All 4 of us were disappointed 😞 with this evening and the food. We know the WK, not from this side. Every time we have eaten there the food has been excellent and so has the service. We were there very early in the evening and the kitchen was certainly not overloaded when we ordered. With a plate service with two plates each, the food should at least arrive warm to the guest.

If you want a traditional swiss (Valais region) atmosphere youre on the right spot. The service stuff very friendly, open and humorous. You might wait a little for the food, but its good and fresh. Prices are little bit high, but understandable if you look at the whole picture. We had Salad and Fondue (both nice and fresh)

Typical Swiss atmosphere, important to reserve, we were 4pax, the service was excellent, very friendly and pleasant, attentive to everything. Very rich and abundant fondue, one serving per person is too much food. The price for 4 pax, two dishes each including 2 fondue and 2 raclette, without dessert, 200 CHF approx. I thought it was a very appropriate price for the good service, the quality and knowing that we are in Switzerland.

Very expensive compared to other similar establishments. Was sitting outside, service was a bit dismissive, to say the least. Fondue was tastless and was served with stale bread. Enjoyed the company of my friends but was not overly impressed by Walliser Kanne.

Unbeatable service, many waiters spoke in Spanish and made an effort to understand you or make recommendations. We went there two days in a row, one Fondue day and another Snitzel. Very good everything, to repeat!

Historical place and great tastes. Definitely try the fondue. Also, their soups are very good. We received service from a Colombian waiter who communicated wonderfully. Since we went without a reservation, we ate upstairs. We were very pleased. Thank you Walliser Kane

One of the worst experience in my life. Dirty toilets and old restaurant with an average and too expensive food. More than 60 euro for Wienerschnitzel is out of mind, even for Switzeralnd. Avoid this restaurant. I can only give credits to a black waiter who was very kind and professional

Ate super good toast with lots of good cheese, onion and bacon! Fantastic service! Our waitress was absolutely outstanding with probably 30 guests that she served herself! Respect!!

Too bitter cheese fondue with white wine. Relatively good atmosphere and welcome with a smile. Small downside on the table which was wobbly and not stable throughout the meal. On the other hand, the price of Swiss fondue compared to the quality is far too high. The fondue costs 37.- unlike 25.- in Gruyère. Fondue is a local Swiss product so there are no cheese import costs or few material transport costs. In addition, the dosage of white wine is far too high, which covers the taste of the cheese and gives a slight bitter aftertaste in the mouth. On the other hand, after eating the fondue you are full. I would describe this restaurant more as tourist, than local.

Great restaurant with traditional dishes. We only eat schnitzel here. We recommend the noodles with breadcrumbs as a side dish. In terms of price, we are at the upper limit.

Nice restaurant, with a good terrace. The waiters are very nice and friendly. Good food. We ordered raclett and we liked it quite a bit, although I have to say that I missed a piece of sausage like they give you in other places. But the treatment and the place were phenomenal. The raclett was 21 francs per person

The most incredible and delicious fondue, excellent service, my Wife and I were made to feel comfortable and excellently advised. If you eat one thing in Basel try the fondue (with mushrooms), top drawer.

Loved the restaurant ambience (you’re sitting in history), excellent service (gracias Lino and team) and delicious authentic Swiss dishes. Very welcoming and would happily return anytime.

Delicious dish, servers all very professional but be careful, very high prices! (Okay, we're going to stop teaching people to read the prices on the menu before ordering 😂). I suppose this allows you to sort things out and keep a select clientele, which is not unpleasant.

I ordered veal liver in Madeira, which was very good. That's it for the positive review. After about 40 minutes we were allowed to order our food. We had to wait a while until it finally came. One positive thing I can add here is that the service employee apologized for the waiting time. I found the price of the red wine from Apulia to be absolutely outrageous. We paid Fr. 58.- for this, which is available in stores for less than Fr. 6.00.

Excellent dishes but the cost was disproportionate

Fondue, rosti, snitzel (2 types), and drinks all taste good and the food is served quickly, within 20 minutes. The food is delicious, but the combination of the three makes it a bit greasy. The staff is friendly. I went there at 5:45 p.m., but they said it starts at 6, so there seems to be a break time.

It was very good and not exactly cheap, you wouldn't treat yourself otherwise. Unfortunately the smell is very bad, as soon as you enter you are greeted by a cloud of cheese, which is a shame. Otherwise good and friendly service

The food was really good. We sat outside the hotel for a nice weather. We tried the pasta and a traditional Swiss dish, the raclette. Raclette was nice, but the pasta was amazing and delicious. We enjoyed our dinner here. The draft beer is also quite nice.

If it is not the best veal Schnitzel I have ever had, then it has to be from the top 3. Their Schnitzel is incredibly delicious. They prepare it infront of you in a lot of butter. Big portions of food. Service is good. Nice staff. You also should try their cheese fondue.

Authentic fondue restaurant highly recommended by locals. The fondue pot was amazing and huge -- plenty for our group of four. The schnitzel was also very good. Lovely atmosphere. Our server was patient and explained the menu and customs. We're so glad we found this place for our last night in Switzerland!

I have been here as a tourist. The place is super charming and rustic here, it takes you to local traditional Switzerland feeling. The fondue was delicious and the cheese was super tasty where you will smell it everywhere in the restaurant.

The best customer service in Basel or even Switzerland. The waiter asks which language we can speak and they communicate it with us. Super cool fancy restaurant with old decorations inside. The food choices are wide and they’re really nice. The fondue was just amazing!

An amazing place full of real Swiss tradition. Top quality food in a lovely rustic Swiss atmosphere and the best of Swiss hospitality. And all this in the Center of Basel. We had various dishes, including cheese fondue (delicious), but all the other dishes (beef steak, shrimp cocktail, beef carpaccio), all was A1. Certainly not the cheapest, but you do get what you pay for; Top quality.

Always a lovely visit, great food and very kind staff. It is pricey, but from my perspective the quality justifies the prices. The only disappointment was that tap water was charged at CHF6 for half a liter. Considering we ordered wine, other drinks and multiple courses of food, I think this is rather inappropriate.

We had a Swiss fondue with a good Swiss white wine. For dessert, crepes Suzette. Very good meal, excellent service, beautiful place. A very good moment. The only downside is that the bill is high for French people.

Nice Swiss food, but a bit overpriced.

We had the regular fondue and the truffle fondue. Both were excellent and definitely worth a visit. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be revealed which types of cheese were in it. The show kitchen in the middle of the lower floor is a welcome and great idea. I've never had such a variety of add-ons when making espresso afterwards. The service is more than great and we would love to come back to this great “Kahn”. Thanks so much. You gave us a great evening.

A good restaurant in the middle of Basel. The audience is international, and so international tastes are also catered for here. The food is on a rock-solid level, the cheese fondue was sensational. If you want to experience a bit of 80s show cooking, order crepes suzettes. The service is professional and friendly.
