Wanderruh in Basel

The Wanderruh restaurant offers an excellent selection of dishes, ranging from a delicious cordon bleu to exquisitely prepared marrowbone. The wine list is equally diverse and offers a selection of wonderful wines. The service is extremely courteous and the patron is charming. A recommended culinary experience.

Geb.Essen, great ambience with very friendly staff. Great food accompanied by a wonderful wine from Tuscany.

Very small card. No vegetarian dishes. Bäggli from Säuli very salty. Waiter very demanding that you order more - aperitif, starter etc. When we didn't do that, quite unfriendly. Very expensive even for Switzerland.

Fries were inedible. Cordon bleu... well..☹️ Unbearably loud in the restaurant. Pay at the checkout in the middle of the restaurant. The first bill was CHF 10.00 too high because wine was charged.

Good home-style restaurant with a nice, quiet garden restaurant. Tuesday, 11:45 a.m., for a hearty lunch. Garden was - still - empty. At 12pm the restaurant was filling up quickly. Lunch offer: one meat, one fish and one vegetarian dish for RD. CHF 25. But we wanted the well-known Cordon Bleu (from Metzgerei Jentzer). Small fresh green salad beforehand. Add 0.5l of open white Merlot and then another 0.3l. Cordon Bleu huge and delicious. Plus plenty of French fries alumettes. Dessert espresso and chocolate mousse. Also recommended. All in all for 2 people rounded up to CHF 200. Another visit follows 100% HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for home-style cooking without any frills and a simple, cozy location.

My 10 years old nephew asked for raviolis that were normally a side dish. They said it was ok, and I appreciated that. They charged it CHF 34.- !! Otherwise food was excellent, just order what's on the menu or recommended. Traditional cuisine.

Very fine restaurant in Basel, near SBB Attentive staff The Cordon Bleu was very nice and, together with the fries, a great meal. You can sit perfectly in the beer garden. Reservations recommended!

Very, very fine food in a nice atmosphere.

Some people will ask themselves why this restaurant has 5 stars everywhere. The answer to that is very simple: The restaurant is located in the middle of Basel in a residential area and, even though it looks a bit older from the outside, it conveys a certain cosiness and fits perfectly into this area because fortunately no one has tinkered with it yet, or everything is completely intact painted differently, or converted in some way and when you enter the restaurant, then it is, as it is called in normal dialect, a really cozy and homely-looking place with wooden tables, wooden chairs and still white, fine tablecloths, but not decorated in any way with bright colors, or other flashy elements, but simply painted very calmly, with wooden paneling on the side, just like a restaurant was built 60 years ago or even more to feel comfortable. Luckily, time has stood still here. At least that's how it happened to us that when you come in, you just feel right at home, without tables that are extremely stacked on top of each other, but every table has a nice place and at every table you feel comfortable and not pressured. When you open the card that was handed to you, the tenant and cook can quickly come to the table and tell you what else he has on offer and then what's really great on the list The dishes presented on the menu are also presented on the table, then you really never want to go out to eat anywhere else again, because not only is the ambience right, but the dishes are also perfectly coordinated and presented to you exactly as you would have expected . And if you have a special request like I had, that we would have liked fresh spinach with the lamb chops, then of course it will be made and presented to you beautifully in butter. It definitely doesn't have to be that all your wishes are read from your lips, but it is much more pleasant when you can really express your wishes and the kitchen conjures up what is possible and everything really worked out for us - I definitely will I would love to drive there again from Zurich to be able to enjoy the beautiful ambience in this restaurant and of course the fantastic food - really, a real insider tip!

Second attempt, the first time, didn't convince me. Everything was good today, the soup was very good. I had to wait a long time for the main course, but it was also good. The service was very on the ball and the boss also asked if everything was good. What more do you want!

I was the only Asian. He knew my name from the first time I came in and the service was great. The salad was so delicious. So awesome ! The main dish was a little salty to the taste of Koreans, but it was still delicious. The chef came out and asked me how the food was, and I was so impressed. Everything was a perfect dinner🤩

Good, simple and very nice. A warm welcome, very good, simple, family-style food. A decoration which gives this place a little timeless feel and which makes me think of Berlin in the 1930s with all the charm I find there. The customers are happy and the atmosphere exudes relaxation and the good time spent with friends.

TOURISTS BE CAREFUL. Went here with parents. At end of meal, waiter asked where we were from (America) and proceeded to ask us “how much will you tip?” while he did this with none of the other tables. Switzerland and Europe tip is already included. Only asked us this trying to take advantage. Food, service, and ambience was amazing. Recommend, just be careful.

Wonderful cuisine and the best cordon bleues in Switzerland. The lunch menus are great and the food is great in the evenings. The landlord is very personable and there is a pleasant atmosphere.

Very, very friendly and attentive in terms of service. The cook knows his craft and the incredibly fine food will be remembered for a long time. I'll happily go there again and can recommend it to anyone who likes it uncomplicated and cozy and expects something very good on their plate. Sehr freundlich Empfangen, an den Platz Begleitet! Was für ein Start! Man fühlt sich sehr Willkommen.Sowieso ist der Service sehr freundlich und kompetent in ihrer Arbeit.Die Auswahl beim Speiseangebot ist Gut aber Übersichtlich.Das Fleisch ist Hervoragend. Das Cordon bleu sehr gut Gebraten und Gefüllt! Menü auch ganz Gut. Das Essen kommt Schnell, vielleicht , viel zu Schnell. Aber es ist Mittag, da haben es die Leute Eilig! Wir nicht, müssen aber Mitmachen.Neben den oben Erwähnten Speisen versuchten wir auch das Tschechische Angebot. Da liegt unser Problem. Ein paar Kartoffelspätzli mit Zwiebeln, speziellem Käse aus Tschechien und minimalen kleinen Speckwürfeli.. Ja ,es waren sehr wenige und sehr kleine Speckwürfeli.. Das ganze für 24 Chf. Ist mehr als Überzahlt. Es schmeckte zwar sehr Gut, aber der Preis.. Das Personal ist sehr Freundlich, wie Geschrieben. Danke dafür! Aber die Spätzli in Sauce Ertränkt, dass noch ohne Löffel.. Vielleicht ist das bei einem evt nächsten Besuch Anders.

Ich wurde von einem Freund hier eingeladen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und speditiv. Das Essen, Menü, war sehr gut. Nur die Portionen sind sehr klein und so ging ich noch mit etwas Hunger wieder raus. Für ein schnelles Mittagessen war es ok.

Ich wollte umbedingt wieder einmal Markbein essen und fand somit dieses Restaurant. Freundlich begrüsst worden alles gut soweit. Ich ass somit dass bestellte Markbein, war supper lecker und dannach da ich es bissl eillig hatte bestellte ich aber vorweg noch einen kl. salat. Ich sagte im Kellner; Sie können mir sonst den kl. Salat bitteschön schon bringen. Er sagte; welchen salat, ich; Den kl. Michi Salat, er so; nein dass kann nicht sein Sie haben Gulasch mit Knödel bestellt. Ich; Nein dass stimmt nicht. Er diskutierte in einen unangemessenen Ton und wollte umsverecken recht haben was überhaupt gar nicht stimmt. Ich sagte; wie sie wollen ich kann auch gehn. So ein Umstand zu machen, umsverecken recht haben in der ungewissheit, um einen Salat. Unglaublich.!!!!

Ausgesprochen gutes Essen, sehr frischer Salat an ausgezeichneter Salatsauce, die den Geschmack des Salates bewahrt und abrundet, aufmerksame und sympathische Bedienung in einladender Umgebung und schönem Ambiente.

Das Essen war sehr lecker. Jedoch stimmen die Preise nicht. Auf der online Speisekarte kostet ein Riesen Cordon Bleu CHF 39 im Restaurant jedoch CHF 48. Für CHF 39 gibt es nur ein 250gr Cordon Bleu. Eine Erklärung dafür bekommt man vom Service jedoch nicht. Hat uns sehr erstaunt als wir die Rechnung bekommen haben.

Ein kleines Quartierbeiz wo der Chef selber kocht und die Speisen an den Tisch bringt.Wenn jemand sagt es ist nicht möglich mit originellen, frischen Speisen ein Menü unter 25 Fr (inkl. hausgemachte Suppe) auf den Tisch zu bringen - der muss hier hin.Es wird ihm das Gegenteil bewiesen.Wir waren nun schon einige Male hier und wurden noch nie enttäuscht.Unbedingt reservieren ansonsten erhält man am Mittag nur mit Glück noch ein Tisch

Stimmungsvolle Quartier Beiz, für Vegetarier absolut ungeeignet.. (!) Von einem Jenzer Sprössling (Arlesheim) umsichtig geführt. Sehr kompetent, ein absoluter Profi. Vor allem wenn es um “Nose-to-Tail” Details geht, charmanter Gastgeber mit Pfiff. Während sich alle auf die einmaligen Cordon Bleues stürzten, konnte ich den “Nierli” (Rognons de Veau) nicht widerstehen (wo kriegt man das noch?). Toll gekocht, Franzosen würden vor Neid erblassen lassen.. Am besten Anfahrt mit ÖV, HB gleich um die Ecke. Komme(n) wieder.

Petit restaurant sympathique, atypique et toujours très goûteux. La cuisine fait toujours un effort pour que même les plats du jour soient très bons. Très bonne qualité de viande.

Wunderschönes, schlichtes Lokal. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und herzlich. Tolle, authentische Gerichte und ein hervorragender Gastgeber. Hier stimmt einfach alles.

Schöne Gaststube, wunderbares Essen, freundliche Bedienung, toller Koch bzw. Wirt aus der Familie der Metzgerei Jenzer, die in der Regio das beste Fleisch liefert. Bewährte Klassiker wie Cordon bleu neben spezielleren Fleischgerichten mit wunderbarer Sauce. Achtung! die kleinere Portion genügt vollauf.Die Desserts sind ebenfalls köstlich und das gebackene Markbein zur Vorspeise ein spezieller Klassiker. Nicht umbedingt ein Restaurant für vegetarische Mitmenschen. Aber sie haben auch immer etwas Vegetarisches im Sortiment.Der Hauswein ist sehr fein ebenso wie das tschechische Bier war prima.Wir kommen wieder.Ich kann das Restaurant v.a. Fleischliebhabern sehr empfehlen.

Schon lange wollte ich wissen, wie mir das Restaurant Wanderruh gefallen würde. Nach einem gemütlichen Abend im Restaurant-Garten, einem gediegen feinen Essen, aufmerksamer und freundlicher Bedienung, weiss ich s, da gehe ich gerne wieder hin. Gut gefallen hat mir auch die übersichtliche Karte mit ausgesuchten Angeboten, alles frisch und mit regionalen Produkten zubereitet. Das war ein Genuss.

Kleines und sehr gemütliches Resturant im Gundeliquartier in Basel, sehr schöne Gaststube, kleiner Aussenbereich mit Tischen unter Bäumen. Serviert werden gutbürgerliche Klassiker wie u.a. Cordon Bleu, Gulasch, Kalbshaxen und, besonders empfehlenswert, das Markbein zur Vorspeise. Alles hervorragend zubereitet, freundlicher und speditiver Service sowie angemessene Preise auch für die (diversen) offenen und Flaschenweine. Alles da für einen gemütlichen und kulinarisch lohnenden Abend.

Wir verbrachten einen wunderschönen Abend mit Freunden im Garten der Wanserruh. Idyllisch unter Bäumen. Service war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Schöne Karte mit tollen Produkten. Essen war sehr gut, sowohl Fleischgerichte wie auch die anderen Speisen. Gute Weinkarte.Reservation nötig. Auch hat sich Der Gastgeber und Koch selber nach dem wohl der Gäste erkundigt.

Kleines Lokal im Gundeli (Quartier in Basel) feines Essen, schneller und sehr freundlicher Service. Was braucht es mehr, Preis Leistung ist übrigens auch ok.

Gutes Mittagsangebot mit sehr netten Service. Wer sich Desserts gönnen darf, sollte wohl die Crème Brûlé versuchen.
