Zuckerbäckerei Ermatinger's Café Späth "Café Konditorei" in Stein am Rhein

Yesterday after strolling through the city, we decided to treat ourselves to coffee and cake and came across a great coffee shop with a chic decor and a generous selection. I ordered a bagel and carrot cake. A warm, fresh, prepared salmon bagel with leaf lettuce and topped with a fine French sauce. I can recommend it to anyone who likes to enjoy something light. We'd love to come back. See you soon

The pastries are good. Service but bad, the staff has no idea about the hospitality industry. Tables are not cleaned by the previous guests.

Unfortunately disappointing. The tea comes from Lipton in a bag and tasted more or less like hot water. The "hot chocolate" was simply a bag and at a very high price. Very unfortunate. We can also buy this at home or at any gas station. From a café like this I expect fresh tea or at least high-quality bags and homemade hot chocolate "on the style" (or similar). Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio is not right here at all. Feedback on "Answer from owner": That's very pleasing, we asked the staff about it because we hadn't received a card. It just said “we only have the following standard teas and chocolate from the bag”. It's a shame, but good to know that this would happen.

Had to go to the store for 2 medium-sized, dry gingerbread cookies without filling with some icing decoration for Fr. 16-. pay. Sorry, but this price is already astronomical.

Very nice and kind. Unfortunately, there is no strawberry cake in the middle of winter. It could be noted on the card to avoid disappointment in the future. Very nice coffee :-)

The atmosphere is excellent! Lots of seating and beautiful interior. Coffee and sweets are also great! The service could have been better. The waiters were rather rude and not "attentive". Nevertheless, a visit there is highly recommended

Cake excellent, cappuccino as it should be. Only when you pay do the prices not appear on the invoice as shown on the card. The bill according to the card would amount to 22.40 sfrs, the charge was 24.60 sfrs. When we spoke to the waiter, it was pointed out that it was an old menu and would now cost more. Requiring proof actually means that the card does not show any binding prices. The waiter wanted to pay ubs the difference in his money. We didn't want that, we found it from the restaurant outrageous. October 4th, 2023, 4:15 p.m

Very nice service and reasonable prices

We were here with friends as part of a bike tour around Lake Constance. We have never eaten more delicious cake... Only the lady in the lower sales area gave reason to deduct stars in the service area. She came across as very cold and perhaps even a little bad-tempered.

Nice bakery but the old bald male server with glasses is very rude

Extremely nicely located, very good coffee. The waiter seemed moderately motivated, but was by no means unfriendly. Moderate prices for Switzerland. Overall, a nice stay at Zuckerbeck Ermatinger. I can recommend it.

As soon as you enter, the café gives you the impression that you forget about time. A clean and well-kept atmosphere, inexpensive delicacies from a real pastry shop and a really good café invite you to linger. I recommend checking the clock occasionally :-)

We accidentally spilled a cup of coffee, and the waiter patiently helped us and gave us a replacement. The cake and coffee were very delicious.

A nice café where you have a nice view of the old town on the 1st floor. Unfortunately, the selection of cakes/tarts was no longer very large at 4 p.m. and the prices were rather high. Hot chocolate and tea were delicious. The waitress wanted to be funny, but unfortunately that doesn't suit every guest's sense of humor.

Drank one of the best Aperol Spritz we've ever had. Friendly waiter who said he made it with love and that he also likes to drink. I was able to pay with Visa without any problems.

Swiss ice cream parlor for CHF 12.50 consists of 1 scoop of coffee ice cream and some whipped cream, that's it... No comment!

Very disrespectful and miserable staff very pushy and no manners, waited 10 minutes for a scoop of ice cream. Price is not right. Oh yes, we ordered yogurt and got banana first, then vanilla and chocolate... No excuse for the delay. Not recommended. Very aloof

...one of the best and very long-established cafes in Stein am Rhein. However, the connection to modern times has always been made. Very friendly staff, who can sometimes let it be 5 degrees for a long-time regular guest... 😉

Very bad review. A few days ago I went for coffee at 9:45 a.m. I wanted a croissant with it, and I got a clear answer from the waiter: they don't have any more. I just have to get up earlier. This in a bakery and pastry shop. Well done. Guests greet you with answers like these.

Very nice staff, unfortunately it is a little outside the city center. I was there yesterday and bought two very tasty butter pretzels and the service was really nice. The atmosphere is warm and nicely decorated! The display is also a bit large and baked very well. I see this because I was once a baker myself. I will definitely visit again.

The best ice cream in all of Switzerland. The espresso made us feel like we were in Italy. The savory dishes and pastries served at nearby tables also looked very inviting. The place is very beautiful, from the outdoor tables you can enjoy the view of the beautiful buildings of Stein am Rhein. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

This is a good place to get a coffee and cake on the main pedestrian area in stein am rhein. They have seating outside or upstairs. Highly recommend this place.

Very nice cafe in a beautiful historical atmosphere. The cake and ice cream are very tasty, but quite expensive - but a certain surcharge for this special place is definitely justified. The service was correct. It's best to sit outside in front of the cafe, but it's also nicely decorated inside.

Rip-off exchange rate 1 to 1 franc euro. Dirty tables despite reservations. Unfriendly waiter.

Very conceited staff, some of them make the main companies in Stein am Rhein bad. A lot of splendor for nothing. I can agree with the previous review.

The cakes are very good and the sandwiches are absolutely delicious. But is that enough to stay regularly? Undisputedly, the atmosphere in the restaurant is certainly a reason to come by. But I miss that certain something in the presentation of the drinks. Coffee and chocolate are served carelessly. Can't you offer a chocolate a little more exciting than pouring it into a bag? Recently I was served drinking chocolate that I could dissolve myself as a chocolate lollipop with hot milk. In a coffee shop like the "Kafi-Späth", with such an ambience, this would be the icing on the cake and would make the visit an experience.
